Kanchana remake: Here’s the first look of Laaxmi Bomb

We had recently reported about Akshay Kumar starring in the remake of blockbuster Tamil film ‘Kanchana’ aka ‘Muni 2’. The Hindi version has been titled as ‘Laaxmi Bomb’ and its first look poster was released online today. Raghava Lawrence, who directed and starred in the original, is helming the remake version as well. Writer-director Farhad Samji has adapted the script to make it suitable for the sensibilities of the Hindi audience.

Along with sharing the first look, Akshay Kumar has written,

‘Kanchana’, the second instalment in the ‘Muni’ franchise, revolves around the series protagonist Raghava and a transgender ghost. The novel element of a transgender being shown in good light was the movie’s USP. Veteran actor Sarath Kumar’s stellar performance as the transgender got widespread appreciation.

In the Hindi version, Akshay Kumar is reprising the role played by Raghava Lawrence. Kiara Advani is the female lead. Though the makers are yet to reveal who will be essaying the transgender part, names like Amitabh Bachchan, Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt are doing the rounds in social medias. Let’s wait for an official word.

Soubin Shahir is one of the most talented actors in India: Santosh Sivan

Santosh Sivan’s new film ‘Jack and Jill’ has been on the floors for some time now. The movie has Kalidas Jayaram and Manju Warrier in the lead roles. Shoot for the movie commenced last October and Manju has already wrapped up her portions. After a brief gap, the team resumed shoot only recently.

Soubin Shahir has now joined the sets. Last day, Santosh Sivan took to his social media handle to share Soubin’s look in the movie. The veteran also rates Soubin as one of the most talented, co-operative and hard working actors in the country. That’s quite a big compliment for Soubin as Santosh Sivan is one of the most revered personalities in the Indian film industry with a vast experience of over three long decades.

‘Jack and Jill’ is shaping up as a quikry sci-fi flick. It is a genre that has not much been explored in Malayalam. With someone like Santosh Sivan at helm, the audience can expect to see some real quality stuff. The movie’s cast also includes Nedumudi Venu, Aju Varghese, Soubin Shahir, Basil Joseph, Ramesh Pisharody and Suraj Venjaramoodu.

A Dubai based company, Lensman Studios, is producing the movie.

Actor-writer Shanker Ramakrishnan’s directorial debut ‘Pathinettam Padi’ is gearing up to hit screens. The makers had released a new song online. The song titled ‘Thoomanju Veena Vazhiye’ is rendered by Vijay Yesudas and lyrics is penned by Lawrence Fernandez. Debutant Prasanth Prabhakar has composed the song.

‘Pathinettam Padi’ is currently in the post-production phase. The movie is eagerly awaited by a section of audience as it has some big star presence. Though the lead roles are played by newcomers, the cast also include stars like Mammootty, Prithviraj and Unni Mukundan. Mammootty plays a character named John Abraham Palackal and he sports a new look in the movie. It is said to be a very prominent character that takes the story forward. Prithviraj and Unni Mukundan will be seen in guest appearances.

The cast also comprises of Priya Anand, Saniya Iyappan, Ahaana Krishna, Maala Parvathy, Biju Sopanam and many others. The movie is most likely to release by the end of next month.

Shane Nigam is currently on a high after the superhit success of ‘Kumbalangi Nights’. His latest release ‘Ishq’, which hit screens last day, is also getting excellent response from all corners. The actor now has some highly promising films coming up. Last day, his new film ‘Veyil’ was officially launched with a customary switch on ceremony held in Irinjalakuda.

Debutant Sarath Menon, a former associate of Lijo Jose Pellissery, is directing this film. He has assisted Lijo in movies like ‘Angamaly Diaries’ and ‘Ee.Ma.Yau’. His debut directorial will be predominantly shot in and around Irinjalakuda. Along with Shane Nigam, the movie will also have Suraj Venjaramoodu and Shine Tom Chacko in key roles. A bunch of newcomers will also be introduced. Popular Tamil playback singer Pradeep Kumar will be composing music for this film.

Shane Nigam meanwhile has Dimal Dennis’ ‘Valiya Perunnal’ and Shaji N Karun’s ‘Olu’ gearing up to hit screens. Another rom-com with debutant director Jeevan Jojo is also in the making.

As informed earlier by the makers, the first look poster of Mohanlal’s new movie ‘Ittymaani Made In China’ has just been released. Debutant director duo Jibi and Joju are helming the movie, which is said to be an action comedy entertainer. Antony Perumbavoor is producing the movie under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

‘Ittymaani Made In China’ has Mohanlal as Ittymani, a fun character based in Kunnamkulam. The actor is said to be speaking in a funny Thrissur dialect in the movie. It promises to be a refreshing change as it’s been a long while since the actor has done a proper fun entertainer.

The movie has Honey Rose as the female lead. Veteran Tamil actress Radikaa Sarath Kumar is also playing a key role. Siddique, Vinu Mohan, Aju Varghese, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Kailas, Soubin Shahir, Salim Kumar, Sijoy Varghese, Hareesh Kanaran, Johny Antony, Nandu and Swasika are also part of the supporting cast.

As informed earlier, the teaser of Vinay Forrt’s upcoming movie ‘Thamaasha’ has just been released in social medias. Debutant Ashraf Hamza is directing the movie, which is touted to be a breezy romantic drama. Cinephiles have pinned high hopes on the movie as it has some big names on the production side. Sameer Thahir, Shyju Khalid, Lijo Jose Pellissery and Chemban Vinod Jose are coming together to produce the movie under the banner of Happy Hours Entertainment.

Earlier, the makers had released a song titled ‘Paadi Njan’, which was sung and composed by Shahabaz Aman. The song which features the follows the budding romance between lead actors, Vinay Forrt and Divyaprabha got excellent response from the viewers. The movie’s supporting cast includes ‘Kumabalangi Nights’ fame Grace Antony, Chinnu Sarojini, Navas Vallikkunnu, Arun Kurian and Arya Salim.

‘Thamaasha’ has cinematography by Sameer Thahir. Rex Vijayan and Shahabaz Aman are handling the music department. Sadique Mohammed Ali is the editor.

‘Kakshni Amminipilla’ is basically a court-room drama centred around the case of a newly wed couple, Shajith Kumar Amminipilla and wife Kanthi Sivadasan. As we already know, Mohanlal and veteran director Siddique are teaming up for a new movie titled ‘Big Brother’. As per the makers, the movie is a family entertainer with action, humour and sentiments. It has a big supporting cast and a strong technical crew. Shoot is scheduled to commence from next month.

‘Big Brother’ marks the Malayalam debut of Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan. He is playing the role of an IPS officer in the film and will be joining the team soon after the completion of ‘Dabaang 3’, which he is co-producing with his brother Salman Khan. Arbaaz recently shared his excitement about acting in his first Malayalam film and that too with a legend like Mohanlal. His social media post reads,

Super excited about working with the Legend Mohanlal sir and ace director Siddique sir. It’s my debut in the Malayalam film industry with a film called “Big Brother”. So looking forward to the shoot in July

‘Big Brother’ reportedly has Mohanlal, Anoop Menon and ‘June’ fame Sarjano Khalid as siblings. The movie also has three female leads. Popular South Indian actress Regina Cassandra has been signed as the main heroine. She is reportedly paired with Mohanlal in the movie. ‘Pichaikkaran’ fame Satna Titus and a newcomer will be seen as the other two female leads.

Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Tini Tom, Siddique, Janardhanan, Chemban Vinod Jose are also part of the supporting cast. The movie will have cinematography handled by Jithu Damodar and music by Deepak Dev. Shoot will be commencing by the last week of June and Mohanlal will be joining the team in July. The makers have planned to wrap up the entire shoot in a single schedule and release it in October.

Parvathy starrer ‘Uyare’ continues to soar new heights. After garnering unanimously positive response from Malayalam movie lovers, the movie is now set to conquer foreign audience as well. ‘Uyare’ is set to be released in South Korea on May 19 through Indywood Distribution Network. Remarkably, it is the first Malayalam movie to have a South Korean release.

‘Uyare’ is directed by Manu Ashokan and scripted by Bobby-Sanjay. It tells the inspiring story of an acid attack survivor. Ever since its release on April 26, the movie has been getting words of appreciation from all corners. Besides critics and common audience, even celebrities like Sathyan Anthikad, Madhupal, Jude Anthany Joseph, Anjali Menon, Arun Gopy, Sithara Krishnakumar, Rosshan Andrrews and politicians VM Sudheeran and KK Shailaja had praised the movie.
