Here’s the trailer of Vidyut Jamwal starrer Junglee

One of Indian cinema’s most scintillating action heroes, Vidyut Jamwal is back after a while. His new film ‘Junglee’ is gearing up to hit screens next month. The makers released the trailer just a while back and it looks super impressive. Directed by Chuck Russel, this movie is about a veterinary doctor, who upon returning to his father’s elephant reserve, encounters and fights against an international poacher’s racket.

Sharing the trailer on his Twitter handle, Vidyut has written,

The trailer is packed with action, emotions and also a slight touch of romance. Vidyut plays Raj who shares a very strong bond with Bhola, an elephant. Pooja Sawant and Asha Bhatt play the two female leads. Atul Kulkarni, Makarand Deshpande and Thalaival Vijay also play crucial roles.

Latest to join the bandwagon of mainstream stars entering the digital arena is Khiladi Akshay Kumar. Last day, the official announcement was made during a launch event where Akshay surprised everyone by setting himself on fire. With the daredevil stunt, Akshay made the right noise and topped the Twitter trends. His debut series, tentatively titled as ‘The End’, will be an action packed one.

Akshay took to his official Twitter handle to share photos from the launch event. He has also written,

The 26 day 26 character intro poster release by ‘Lucifer’ team continues. Today, the makers have released the poster featuring veteran filmmaker Fazil, who is playing the role of a priest, Father Nedumpally. The movie directed by Prithviraj has Mohanlal in the lead. It is worth a mention that it was Fazil who introduced Mohanlal in cinema with his debut directorial, ‘Manjil Virinja Pookkal’.

Later they worked together in films like ‘Poovinu Puthiya Poonthennal’, ‘Manichitrathazhu’, ‘Harikrishnans’ ‘Vismayathumbathu’ etc. They both have also acted together in ‘Nokketha Dhoorathu Kannum Nattu’, in which the director played a cameo role. It will be interesting to see Mohanlal and Fazil sharing screen space after a gap of 33 long years

‘Lucifer’ scripted by Murali Gopy is touted to be a mass-packed political entertainer. The movie has an elaborate cast comprising of Tovino Thomas, Vivek Oberoi, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Bala, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Saniya Iyyappan, Sai Kumar, Nandu, John Vijay, Adil Ibrahim, Sachin Khedekar, Shaun Romy and Nandu.

‘Lucifer’ is being produced by Mohanlal’s own banner Aashirvad Cinemas. The makers are planning to release the movie on March 28, but an official word regarding the same is still awaited.

We had earlier reported about Vijay Sethupathi signing a new film with director Vijay Chander of ‘Sketch’ and ‘Vaalu’ fame. The movie was been launched today in Hyderabad. Vijaya Productions is funding the movie. Raashi Khanna and Nivetha Pethuraj have been signed as the female leads. Others in the cast include Soori, Nasser, Asutosh Rana, Ravi Kishan and John Vijay. The makers have signed Vivek – Mervind duo to compose music.

Director Vijay Chander’s first two films – ‘Vaalu’ and ‘Sketch’ failed to impress the critics and had a lukewarm run at the box office. So the director will be hoping to correct his mistakes and a deliver a hit this time. Similar to his previous two films, this one with Vijay Sethupathi is also expected to be a complete mass entertainer.

Besides that, he has also committed for films with directors SP Jananathan, Venkata Krishna Roganth, Prabhu and Delhiprasad Deenadayal. The actor is also set to make his Malayalam debut this year with ‘Marconi Mathai’, in which he will be playing one of the leads alongside Jayaram.

Nadirshah’s third directorial ‘Mer Naam Shaji’ is getting ready to hit screens during this coming holiday season. The movie stars Asif Ali, Biju Menon and Baiju in the lead roles. It is expected to be a full on mass entertainer on the lines of ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan’. The movie’s first look poster will be unveiled by megastar Mammootty through his official social media handle on Friday.

‘Mera Naam Shaji’ is about three individuals named Shaji, who are from different parts of Kerala. While Baiju plays the Shaji from Trivandrum, Asif Ali is the Shaji from Ernakulam and Biju Menon’s character is from Kozhikode. Nikhila Vimal plays the female lead. The movie’s story is by Dileep Ponnan and Shani Khader. The former has also penned the screenplay and dialogues.

DOP Vinod Ilampally, editor Johnkutty and debutant composer Emil Muhammed are part of the technical crew. B Rakesh of Universal Cinema is producing the movie.

Fahadh Faasil’s red hot form continues as ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ has become his third successive film to successfully cross the Rs 30 crore mark. His last two releases before that, ‘Varathan’ and ‘Njan Prakashan’ were also big hits, especially the latter. The Sathyan Anthikad directorial was one of 2018’s highest grossers in Malayalam cinema.

‘Kumbalangi Nights’ directed by debutant Madhu C Narayanan has Fahadh starring alongside a bunch of talented actors like Soubin Shahir, Shane Nigam, Anna Ben, Sreenath Bhasi and Grace Antony. Fahadh plays a negative shaded role in the movie. It is not a regular villain role but a very intricately sketched one. The actor’s phenomenal performance as the psychotic patriarch Shammi is one of the movie’s major talking points. Critics and cinephiles alike have unanimously appreciated Fahadh for his ability and wide range of skills to play such a character.

Fahadh’s films have always earned critical acclaim, but his last three releases have proven that he now has a strong hold at the box office as well. His upcoming biggie, ‘Trance’ is also certain to reap huge numbers. The Anwar Rashweed directorial is expected to hit screens by the second half of this year.

Allu Arjun’s next film, AA 20, will be helmed by director Sukumar, with whom he has previously worked in ‘Arya’ and ‘Arya 2’. The huge success of these two films made Allu a household name in the South. When the actor-director duo reunite for a third time, expectations will obviously be on the higher side. This yet-to-be titled project will be produced by Mythri Movie Makers.

Director Sukumar was initially supposed to do a film with superstar Mahesh Babu but the project got dropped due to creative differences between the two. Earlier this day, Mahesh took to his official social media handle to inform the same. He also wished Sukumar all success for his new film. Mahesh’s tweet reads,

Due to creative differences, my film with Sukumar is not happening. I wish him all the best on the announcement of his new project. Respect always for a film maker par excellence.1 Nenokkadine will remain as a cult classic. Enjoyed every moment working on that film. All the best sir for your new film.

Allu Arjun is currently shooting for AA 19, directed by hit maker Trivikram. Sukumar’s film is expected to go on floors by August this year.

SZIFF 2019: Lijo Jose Pellissery, Chemban Vinod and PF Mathews bag awards at global level

Team ‘Ee.Ma.Yau’ continue to bring more glory to Malayalam cinema. The movie’s director Lijo Jose Pellissery, scriptwriter PF Mathews and lead actor Chemban Vinod Jose bagged top awards at the 2019 edition of Sinema Zetu International Film Festival (SZIFF).
SZIFF is a 53 day long Film Festival held annual in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. The festival had two categories – Swahili Panorama and World Cinema.

The Swahili Panorama had representation of around 135 movies produced in Swahili language from different African countries, while the ‘World Cinema’ category witnessed 35 movies from 19 countries including Afghanistan, China, Estonia, India, Iran, Italy, Indonesia, Germany, Kenya, Nigeria, Philippines, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda, Zambia.

Apart from ‘Ee.Ma.Yau’, Hindi films ‘Pihu’ and ‘Padmaavat’ also bagged a couple of awards at SZIFF. Here’s the complete list of awards:

Best Actor – Ranveer Singh (Padmaavat) and Chemban Vinod Jose (Ee.Ma.Yau)

Best Actress – Leena Alam (A Letter to the President) and Myra Vishwakarma (Pihu)

Best Editing – Dominykas Kilciauskas (Sasha Was Here)

Best Original Music – Christopher Kaiser and Julian Maas (The Silent Revolution)

Suriya starrer ‘NGK’ is getting ready for release this summer. Though the makers are yet to officially announce a release date, it is expected to hit screens worldwide in May. Meanwhile, the makers are prepping up to start the promotion works. A new poster of the movie was released today. They have also informed that the audio will be coming out soon.

‘NGK’ directed by Selvaraghavan is touted to be a political thriller. The director enjoys a huge fan following among the Tamil audience and since it is his first film with Suriya, expectations are on the higher side. Recently, the makers had released a 1-minute-long teaser which got tremendous response from the viewers. The movie promises to bring back the long lost performer in Suriya. Rakul Preet Singh and Sai Pallavi will be seen as the female leads while Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu plays the villain role.

It has been a while since Suresh Gopi has acted in movies. He last had a release four years back in 2015. The veteran is now set to make a comeback. He will be next seen in the Tamil movie ‘Tamilarasan’ starring Vijay Antony in the lead. Last day, Suresh Gopi took to his social media handle to share a photo taken from the movie’s sets. Reportedly, the actor plays a doctor in the film and it is said to be a very prominent role.

‘Tamilarasan’ is a cop action-thriller featuring Vijay Antony as a police officer. The movie is directed by Babu Yogeswaran, who had earlier helmed the Jayam Ravi starrer ‘Daas’. Remya Nambeesan plays Vijay Antony’s pair in this upcoming movie. Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, Bhumika, Munishkanth, Robo Shankar, Yogi Babu, and director Mohan Raja’s son, Pranav are also part of the movie’s supporting cast.

‘Tamilarasan’ has music by Ilayaraja, cinematography by RD Rajasekhar and edits by Bhuvan Srinivasan.
