Shoot for Mammootty’s period flick ‘Maamaankam’ is progressing at a brisk pace. After replacing its original director Sajeev Pillai, veteran M Padmakumar is currently helming the movie. Mammootty plays a ‘Chaaver’ (warrior) in this movie, which revolves around the life of warriors who plot to defeat the Zamorin rulers.

Since the movie is action-packed, the makers had earlier got Kaecha Kampakdee to supervise the stunts. He had also choreographed a few action blocks during the first schedule. But soon after the rift between director Sajeev and the production house, the latter opted for a complete overhaul, in both the cast and the technical crew. For choreographing the stunts in ‘Maamaankam’, the makers have now got Sham Kaushal from Bollywood.

Sham, a very popular action choreographer in B Town, had started his career in Malayalam. He had worked in movies like ‘Indrajalam’ and ‘Yodha’, before heading to the North. He is best known for his works in movies like ‘Dangal’, ‘Krrish 3’ and ‘Bhajrangi Bhaijaan’. Some of his other noted works include ‘Gunday’, ‘Padmaavat’, Bajirao Mastani, ‘Dhoom 3’ and ‘Phantom’.

‘Maamaankam’ is Sham Kaushal’s second film with Mammootty on the trot. He recently made his comeback to Malayalam after a long gap with Mammootty starrer ‘Unda’, shoot for which is still progressing.
