The 26 day, 26 character intro poster release of ‘Lucifer’ has entered its sixth day. Today, the makers have released the poster of Adil Ibrahim who plays the role of Riju in the movie. Adil is noted for his roles in movies like ‘Nirnnayakam’, ‘Achayans’, and ‘9’.

‘Lucifer’ directed by Prithviraj and scripted by Murali Gopy is touted to be a mass-packed political entertainer. Mohanlal plays a big shot politician, Stephen Nedumbally, in the movie. Tovino Thomas, Vivek Oberoi, Indrajith Sukumaran and Manju Warrier essay other prominent roles.

‘Lucifer’ also has an elaborate supporting cast comprising of Kalabhavan Shajohn, Saniya Iyyappan, Sai Kumar, Nandu, John Vijay, director Fazil, Sunil Sughatha, Thara Kalyan, Sachin Khedekar, Praveena, Shaun Romy and Maala Parvathy. In the technical front, Sujith Vasudev has cranked the camera and Deepak Dev is in charge of the music department.

‘Lucifer’ is being produced by Mohanlal’s own banner Aashirvad Cinemas. The makers are planning to release the movie on March 28, but an official word regarding the same has not yet been made.

The movie directed by Salim Ahamed has Tovino playing the role of a passionate young filmmaker. The movie tells the story of a film taking its director to the Oscars. Salim Ahamed has scripted the movie after being inspired by the real lives of several filmmakers. Siddique, Anu Sithara, Lal, Sreenivasan, Salim Kumar, Zarina Wahab and Appani Sarath are also part of the movie’s cast.

Mammootty’s Ameer likely to start rolling in April

It was earlier announced that Mammootty would be teaming up with director Vinod Vijayan for a big-budget flick titled, ‘Ameer’. Haneef Adeni of ‘The Great Father’ and ‘Abrahaminte Santhathikal’ fame is scripting the movie. If reports are to be believed, the makers are planning to start shooting by April. Apparently, Mammootty has allotted around four months date for the movie.

‘Ameer’ is a gangster story that has Mammootty playing the role of a Dubai based underworld don. The movie comes with the tagline ‘confessions of a don’. Mammootty will be appearing in multiple looks in the movie. Sani Yas, a poster designer has come up with his own version of Mammootty’s look in the movie, and it looks fabulous.

Reports suggest that ‘Ameer’ will be made on a massive budget of over Rs 40 crores. The movie has been planned to be shot extensively in Dubai. Along with Mammootty, the movie will have some other big stars as part of the cast. Gopi Sunder has been signed to handle the music department. Some other leading technicians from the industry will be associated with the movie.

‘Ameer’ is being produced by Sreelekshmi R and Shankar Raj R. Bhupen Tacho and Jeethu Goghi are the co-producers. An official announcement with details regarding the full cast and crew members will be made shortly.

Excellent weekend collections for Dileep’s Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakeel

Dileep starrer Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakeel hit screens last Thursday (February 21). The movie written and directed by B Unnikrishnan has taken a good opening, particularly at the Kerala box office. The fact that the movie had an extended weekend run has benefited the movie immensely. Though the critic reviews have been mixed, theatre response suggests that common audience have lapped up the movie.

From the first three days of run in Kochi multiplexes, the movie has already gone last the Rs 10 lakh mark. In rest of India centres like Bangalore, the movie is having good occupancy. Dileep’s popularity and the support of the family audience is helping the movie commercially.

‘Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakeel’falls under the genre of a suspense-drama-cum-thriller with comedy elements in it. Dileep’s role of a struggling lawyer with a stuttering problem has earned him appreciation. Others in the cast include Priya Anand, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Aju Varghese, Renji Panciker, Vamsi Krishna, Harish Uthaman, ‘Kalakeya’ Prabhakar, Bindu Panicker and Siddique.

The movie is produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, a production giant based in Bollywood. There are also reports about a possible remake in Hindi with Shah Rukh Khan reprising Dileep’s role, but an official confirmation in this regard is still awaited.

Thalaivi: Baahubali writer Vijayendra Prasad to script AL Vijay’s version of Jayalalithaa biopic

Today, on the birth anniversary of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, director AL Vijay announced her biopic. The movie titled ‘Thalaivi’ will be produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri. It has been planned as a trilingual in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Vijayendra Prasad, who has penned films like ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Bhajrangi Bhaijaan’ is scripting this film. The title poster was shared by India’s leading trade analyst Taran Adarsh. He has tweeted,

‘Thalaivi’ will have cinematography by Nirav Shah and music by GV Prakash. Antony will be handling the edits. National award winning Malayali make up man Pattanam Rasheed has also been signed for this prestigious project. Details regarding who will be playing Jayalalithaa’s role and other cast members have not yet been revealed.

Earlier, A Priyadaarshani, a former associate of Mysskin, had announced another biopic on Jayalalithaa. The movie titled ‘The Iron Lady’ has Nithya Menen playing the late CM’s role. Legendary filmmaker Bharathiraja had also announced that he would be helming a biopic on Jayalalithaa titled ‘Thaai: Puratchi Thalaivi’.

It remains to be seen how these three biopics come out.

It has been a while since reports about Vikram teaming up with Ajay Gnananuthu started surfacing online. The latest we hear is that the project has almost been confirmed and the official announcement will be made in April. Ajay, a former associate of AR Murugadoss, has previously helmed two hit films – ‘Demonte Colony’ and ‘Imaikka Nodigal’. His second film which had Nayanthara, Anurag Kashyap and Atharvaa Murali emerged as a big success at the box office.

Ajay’s next film with Vikram is also said to be a thriller on the lines of ‘Imaikkaa Nodigal’. The actor is currently busy shooting for the epic mythological flick ‘Mahavir Karna’. The movie directed by Malayali filmmaker RS Vimal is being made in Hindi and Tamil. Said to be made on a huge budget of over Rs 300 crores, the movie has Vikram playing the titular role. Several other stars from Indian and international cinema are expected to be part of the cast.

Vikram is also awaiting the release of ‘Kadaram Kondan’, directed by Rajesh M Selva of ‘Thoongavanam’ fame. The long delayed Gautham Menon directorial ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ is yet to be completed. The movie is expected to hit screens by the second half of the year.

Post his infamous arrest in the actress abduction case, Dileep has been very careful in picking his roles. The actor, who was once known for churning out comedy entertainers one after another, is now trying out new genres that also offer him space for performance. After the political thriller ‘Ramaleela’, he did ‘Kammarasambhavam’, a multi-genre flick that had one of his career-best performances. The recently released ‘Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakeel’ has him playing an advocate with a stuttering problem. The movie is doing well in the box office with due appreciation for his performance.

As per latest reports, Dileep has signed a new thriller film with veteran director Joshiy. The two have previously worked together in ‘Runway’ and the multistarrer ‘Twenty 20’. Their new film is said to be a thriller based on the events in the media industry, much similar to the director’s 2012 hit film, ‘Run Baby Run’. An official confirmation is still awaited.

Joshiy is currently working on the Joju George starrer ‘Porinchu Marian Jose’, which went on floors recently. The movie scripted by Abilash N Chandran is said to be a Trissur based family drama cum thriller. Nyla Usha, Chemban Vinod Jose and Innocent will be seen in prominent roles in the movie.

Dileep on the other hand has multiple projects coming up. He is expected to start shooting for Vysan KP’s new film from next month. The actor still has a few portions left to be completed for his ambitious 3D film ‘Professor Dinkan’. ‘Parakkum Pappan’ with debutant Viyan Vishnu is another film in the pipeline. Dileep is also said to be in talks with some other big projects.

Shamna Kasim joins Mohanlal-Suriya starrer Kaappaan

‘Kaappaan’ is currently in the final stages of shoot. The movie directed by KV Anand has a star-studded cast lead by Suriya and Mohanlal. Arya, Sayyeshaa, Boman Irani and Samuthirakani are also playing crucial roles in the movie. Latest to join the cast is Shamna Kasim aka Poorna. A location still of the actress with Suirya is currently doing the rounds in social medias.

‘Kaappaan’ is s touted to be an action packed thriller. The movie has Mohanlal playing the Indian Prime Minister’s role while Suriya will be seen as a high-rank National Security Guard (NSG) officer, who is in charge of the PM’s security. Mohanlal and Suriya had shot together for their combination scenes in London, Chennai and in several locations in North India. The former has already finished shooting for his portions.

‘Kaappaan’ has cinematography handled by MS Prabhu and music by Harris Jayaraj. Lyca Productions is backing this big budget flick. Reports suggest that the makers are planning to release the movie for Independence day on August 15.
