Petta Paraak: Here’s a new song from Rajinikanth’s Petta

The makers of ‘Petta’ released the lyric video of the song ‘Petta Paraak’ a while back in social medias. It is easily one of the best songs in the movie’s album. Anirudh Ravichander has delivered a fantastic album, with all the songs emerging as chart busters. Recently, the movie’s teaser was release, which got excellent response from the viewers. The movie directed by Karthik Subbaraj promises to bring the superstar of old times.

Along with Rajinikanth, ‘Petta’ has a huge lineup of actors like Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sasikumar, Bobby Simha, Simran, Trisha, Malavika Mohanan, Sasikumar and Megha Akash. The movie touted to be an action packed mass entertainer reportedly has Rajinikanth as a college hostel warden, who has a dark past and appears in dual looks. Simran and Trisha are paired with him in the film.

Kalanithi Maran is producing ‘Petta’ under the banner of Sun Pictures. The movie is scheduled for a grand worldwide release, coming January.

Here’s the trailer of Sharafudheen-Anu Sithara starrer ‘Neeyum Njanum’

As we had reported earlier, Sharafudheen is making his debut as a lead actor with director AK Sajan’s ‘Neeyum Njanum’. The movie touted to be an intense love story has Anu Sithara as the female lead. Official trailer of the movie was shared today in social medias.

Director AK Sajan is well known for helming crime thrillers. This is his first attempt in directing a light hearted entertainer. The movie has Sharafudheen as Yakub, an average Malayali youth from Kozhikode, who falls in love with Anu Sithara’s character, Ashmi. Siju Wilson and Aju Varghese will be seen in other major roles in the movie.

‘Neeyum Njaanum’ has cinematography by Clinto Antony, music by Vinu Thomas and edits by AR Akhil. Siyad Koker’s Kokers Films is producing the movie in association with Lamp Movies. It is scheduled to hit screens early next year; most likely in January. The exact release date has not yet been announced.

Thala 59: ‘Pink’ Tamil remake starring Ajith launched

As we had already reported, actor Ajith’s next (Thala 59) will be directed by H Vinoth of ‘Theeran’ fame. Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor, husband of late actress Sridevi, is making his K-Town debut with this movie. A customary pooja ceremony was held today in Chennai. Ajith or other cast members were not present for the pooja.

As speculated earlier, Thala 59 is the official remake of acclaimed Hindi film, ‘Pink’. The movie directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury is a social-drama that had Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang in lead roles. The movie discusses some sensitive issues about women’s rights and dignity. It won widespread critical acclaim and bagged the National film award for Best Film on other social issues.

According to the makers, Pink’s Tamil version will not be a scene by scene remake. The script has been adapted to suit the sensibilities of the audience. Ajith will be reprising Amitabh Bachchan’s role of brooding lawyer. The original film didn’t have any scope for commercial elements, so it remains to be see how the remake is being adapted to make it appealing to Ajith’s fans. The makers are yet to officially announce the cast or crew. AR Rahman and DOP Nirav Shah are said to be part of the crew, but we still have to wait for a confirmation.

Meanwhile, Ajith’s ‘Viswasam’, directed by Siva, is gearing up for release. The movie is slated to hit screens worldwide for Pongal in January.

NGK shoot nearing completion; Kochi schedule wrapped up!

We had recently reported about Suriya shooting in Kochi for his upcoming movie, NGK. The team had shot a song sequence featuring the lead pair, Suriya and Rakul Preet Singh in Mattanchery. The latest we hear is that the schedule has been wrapped up and the team has next moved on to Pollachi. The makers are working hard towards an April release, most likely for Tamil New Year.

NGK is highly anticipated, both by Suriya fans and the common audience. The movie directed by Selvaraghavan has been on the floors for nearly a year now. It was initially planned as a Diwali release but shoot got delayed due to multiple reasons.

NGK is a political thriller that has Suriya playing the role of an MLA. Apart from Rakul Preet, the movie has one more female lead in Sai Pallavi. Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu will be seen as the villain. The movie’s technical crew comprises of music director Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematographer Arvind Krishna and editor Prasanna GK.

Karthi’s new movie, ‘Dev’, was is gearing up to hit screens early next year. After the great response to the teaser, the makers have released a new song today. Titled ‘Anange’, this is a typical Harris Jayaraj style funky romantic track. Bharath Sunder, Tippu, Krish, Christopher, Arjun Shandy, Sharanya Gopinath and Hariharan have lent their voices for the songs in the movie.

Written and directed by debutant Rajath Ravishankar, ‘Dev’ is being made as a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu. Karthi reportedly plays a bike enthusiast in the movie, which is touted to be a travel based action-packed entertainer. Rakul Preet Singh is paired with Karthi. It is their second outing together after last year’s superhit film, ‘Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru’.

‘Dev’ also stars Ramya Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Nikki Galrani, Vamsi Krishna, Vignesh and Amrutha in supporting roles. Veteran actor Karthik is also said to be playing a cameo role in the film. Its technical crew includes music director Harris Jayaraj, cinematographer Velraj and editor Ruben.

Prince Pictures is producing the movie in collaboration with Reliance Entertainment. It is expected to hit screens early next year.

The year-long wait for Odiyan is coming to an end as movie is all set to storm screens tomorrow (December 14). Scripted by National award winner Harikrishnan, Odiyan marks the debut directorial of renowned ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon. Expectations are huge for the movie due to various factors. First and foremost being the stunning physical transformation that Mohanlal underwent for the film.

Mohanlal appears in multiple looks in the film which included a younger look of his character. He had to shed around 18 kilos to achieve this particularly look. The veteran star has not taken efforts of this scale in his four decade long career. In a recent chat with a leading Malayalam media, Mohanlal opened up about how strenuous it was to shoot for the movie.

Odiyan deals with an unique theme, which has rarely been experimented in Indian cinema. The movie is primarily about odividya, a black magic practice, and people who practice it, who are called odiyans. There are a lot of stories and myths about odiyans and their life in Kerala’s folklore.

Mohnalal plays the role of odiyan Manikyan in the film. Odiyans are capable of taking shapes of any animal. They can crawl like reptiles and also run at high speed. The actor had to put in loads of efforts to perform these scenes. Needless to say, it was one of the most taxing days of his acting career. For days, he had to walk in four legs as odiyans are capable of doing that. India’s leading stunt master Peter Hein choreographed the action sequences in the film. To make the scenes look authentic, the makers have used only minimal dupes and CG works.

Let’s hope all these efforts bear fruits. Fans and cinephiles alike are eagerly excited to see Mohanlal’s action avatar. Only a few more hours to go before the world of odiyans unfold on screen.

As informed by the makers, the teaser of Pranav Mohanlal starrer ‘Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu’ has been released in social medias. Dulquer Salmaan shared the teaser in his official social media handle. The teaser solely focuses on Pranav, who is said to be playing the role of an adventure junkie in the movie. Directed by ‘Ramaleela’ fame Arun Gopy, the movie is touted to be an action-packed thriller.

‘Irupathiyonnam Noottandu’ promises to explore the stunt hero in Pranav. The youngster has reportedly done some risky stunts, which includes surfing portions, that were shot in Indonesia. Peter Hein has choreographed the action sequences in the movie.

The movie’s technical crew comprises of DOP Abhinandan Ramanjunam, music director Gopi Sunder and National award winning editor Vivek Harshan. Tomichan Mulakupadam is producing the movie under his banner Mulakupadam Films. It is expected to hit screens in January, though the exact release date has not yet been announced.

The much awaited ‘Odiyan’ is finally hitting screens tomorrow (December 14). The movie is gearing up for release in over 4000 screens across the world. Mohanlal fans are already in celebration mood and to add more frenzy, the teaser of ‘Lucifer’ will be screened in theatres playing ‘Odiyan’. Mohanlal confirmed the same through his social media handle. It is worth a mention that both the films are funded by the same banner, Aashirvad Cinemas.

The teaser of ‘Lucifer’ was released earlier in the day by actor Mammootty. Opening to extraordinary response from both fans and common cinephiles, the teaser has created quite a storm in social medias. Expectations for ‘Lucifer’ is on par with ‘Odiyan’ as the movie marks Prithviraj’s debut as a director and his first ever outing with Mohanlal.

‘Lucifer’ shoot is nearing completion. Mohanlal finished shooting for his portions only recently. The movie is scheduled for a grand release in March, next year.

We had earlier reported about R Madhavan starring in the biopic of scientist Nambi Narayanan. The movie titled as ‘Rocketry – The Nambi Effect’ also marks Madhavan’s directorial debut. He is co-directing the movie with Anant Mahadevan. The actor has undergone a physical transformation to achieve the look of Nambi Narayanan. A photo posted by him in his official social media handle is trending virally.

Nambi Narayanan is a former cryogenic division head at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). In 1994, he was falsely charged with espionage and arrested. He had to spend 50 days in the prison. The charges against him were later dismissed by the CBI and the Supreme Court declared him not guilty. In September this year, the apex court awarded Nambi Narayanan Rs 50 lakh compensation for being subjected to mental and physical torture in the case.

Madhavan as Nambi Narayanan will be appearing in multiple looks in the movie. It is said to be one of the most challenging roles in the actor’s career. The movie is based on Nambi Narayanan’s book ‘Ready to fire: How India and I survived the ISRO spy case’, which details about the controversial case and his infamous arrest. The movie has been planned as a multilingual in three languages – Tamil, English and Hindi.
