Can’t wait to watch Lucifer: Karan Johar

Earlier in the day, the teaser of Mohanlal’s Lucifer was released. Mammootty shared the teaser through his official social media handle. The teaser has created quite a storm in social medias. It has opened to extraordinary response with fans and common cinephiles lapping it up. Expectations are sky-high for the movie as Prithviraj is turning a director and he is teaming up with Mohanlal for the first time ever.

Prithviraj had shared the teaser in his official Twitter handle. Bollywood filmmaker-producer Karan Johar shared the teaser and tweeted that he can’t wait to watch the film. Likewise, several other filmmakers and actors are eagerly waiting to see Prithviraj’s directorial skills and how he presents Mohanlal on-screen.

Lucifer, scripted by Murali Gopy, is as a political thriller. Mohanlal plays Stephen Nedumpally, a big shot politician in the film. The actor gas atleast finished shooting for his portions in the film. The cast also includes Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier and Vivek Oberoi in major roles. The movie is funded by Mohanlal’s home banner Aashirvad Cinemas. It is scheduled for a grand release in March, next year.

IMDb releases the list of top 10 Indian movies of 2018

Internet Movie Date base, popularly known as IMDb is an online database of information related to world films, television programs, home videos and video games and internet streams. Every year, they release an annual list of the best films and shows. It is determined by customers who rank films and TV shows on a ten-point scale. The list of top 10 Indian fims of 2018 was released last day.

Ayushmann Khuranna starrer ‘Andhadhun’ tops the list followed by Tamil films, ‘Ratsasan’ and ’96’. Dulquer Salmaan-Keerthy Suresh starrer ‘Mahanati’ occupies the fourth position. Interestingly, not a single Malayalam film has made it to the list this year, which has come as a big shock. Last year, only Mammootty’s ‘The Great Father’ was included in the list.

This year’s list is dominated by Bollywood. The top 10 list comprises of six Hindi films, and two each from Tamil and Telugu.

After Lucifer, Prithviraj to direct Fahadh Faasil next?

As we already know, Prithviraj is making his directorial debut with ‘Lucifer’ starring superstar Mohanlal in the lead. It is a hugely hyped film as Prithviraj and Mohanlal are coming together for the first time. Fans and cinephiles are eagerly excited to see Prithviraj’s skills as a filmmaker. Shoot for the movie is nearing completion and is scheduled to hit screens in March.

Meanwhile, there are reports about Prithviraj planning to rope in Fahadh Faasil for his next directorial. Reportedly, the two have been in discussions for some time now. As per these reports, it is a crime thriller in which Fahadh plays the role of a physically-challenged person. Tovino Thomas, Arya and Indrajith are also said to be part of the movie. As of now, it looks like a wild rumour but it will great if such a project materializes.

After wrapping up ‘Lucifer’, Prithviraj is expected to move on to his acting commitments. He will start shooting for Lal Jr’s ‘Driving License’ by next March. He also has ‘Kaaliyan’, ‘Aadujeevitham’ and Kalabhavan Shajon’s directorial debut ‘Brother’s Day’ coming up. Shankar Ramakrishnan’s ambitious film, ‘Ayyappan’ is another film in the actor’s kitty.

Fahadh Faasil meanwhile has been very choosy with his projects. He has ‘Trance’ and ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ in the pipeline. His next to hit screens will be ‘Njan Prakashan’, scheduled for Christmas release.

As informed earlier by the makers, the teaser of Mohanlal’s Lucifer is out today. Mammootty released the teaser a while back through his official social media handle. As expected it is a ‘mass’ packed teaser to excite the fans. Prithviraj is turning a director with this film and this is his first ever outing with Mohanlal, so expectations are on the higher side.

As we had already reported, shoot for ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ has already commenced. Director Priyadarshan and team is currently in Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad, where major portions of the movie will be shot. A new still of Pranav and Priyadarshan from the movie’s location is currently going around in social medias. The movie has Pranav playing a brief cameo role.

This epic movie is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the naval chief of Zamorin of Calicut in the 16th century, whose duty was to protect the coast against the invading Portuguese army. Mohanlal plays the fourth Marakkar and his son Pranav is essaying the younger part of his character. Other members in the cast include Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Mukesh, Keerthy Suresh, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Madhu, Manju Warrier and Pooja Kumar. Few British and Chinese actors will also be seen in the movie.

Said to be the biggest Malayalam film in terms of production values, Marakkar.. is being planned to be made on a budget of around Rs 100 crores. Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment are coming together for its production. The makers have planned to wrap up shoot by mid-2019. However, it will reach screens only in 2020 as it demands extensive post-production works, which will be mostly done abroad.

We have a very exciting two weeks ahead in Mollywood. A strong of films are gearing up for release, which includes the highly anticipated ‘Odiyan’. Along with that, we also have the teasers of ‘Lucifer’ and ‘Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu’ coming out. Teasers of both the films will be out tomorrow (December 13). While ‘Lucifer’ teaser will be out in the morning, the teaser of Pranav’s film will be released in the evening. Both the teasers are expected to be screened in theatres playing ‘Odiyan’.

Among the two, ‘Lucifer’ is the most awaited as it marks the first time coming together of Mohanlal and Prithviraj. The latter is making his debut as a director with this film. Vijay receives his IARA award for Best International Actor

We had earlier reported about Vijay being selected as the Best International Actor award for the year 2018. The actor was selected for the honour by the International Achievement Recognitions Awards (IARA) 2018. The UK based organization selected Vijay for his performance in a triple role in last year’s blockbuster film, ‘Mersal’. Vijay recently received the award from London, photos of which are trending virally in social medias.

Interestingly enough, this is not the first time ‘Mersal’ is getting an international level recognition.
The movie had also won the prestigious Best Foreign Language Film Award at the 4th annual National Film Awards UK for 2018. The Atlee directorial was India’s official entry to the NFA and it competed with films from various other countries like France, Russia, Germany, Sweden, Chile, South Africa etc. ‘Mersal’ was also the first Indian film to win the foreign language film award at the NFA, UK.

Mersal is one of the highest grossing films of all time in Tamil cinema. Upon release, the movie caught nationwide attention after a section of doctors and the centre-ruling BJP staged protests and demanded for boycotting the movie. The protagonist in the film fights for free medical facilities to all, regardless of their financial background. Some of the dialogues criticising the government’s schemes like demonetization and GST caused the trouble. The controversy proved to be beneficial for ‘Mersal’ team as the movie went on to do phenomenal busines worldwide.

Vijay meanwhile is set to reunite with Atlee for the third time. Nayanthara has been signed as the female lead and AR Rahman as the composer. The movie, which is said to be a sports-based drama, is expected to go on floors from early next year.

Shah Rukh Khan’s eagerly awaited film ‘Zero’ is gearing up for Christmas release. The movie directed by Aanand L Rai has SRK playing a vertically challenged man. Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif play the two female leads. As informed earlier by the makers, a new song from the movie has been released today in social medias. The song ‘Husn Parcham’ features a sizzling Katrina Kaif nailing it with her dance moves. Irshad Pamil has penned the lyrics with Bhumi Trivedi and Raja Kumari lending their voices. The talented duo of Ajay and Atul have penned the lyrics.

Earlier the song, ‘Isaaqbaazi’ features the two Khans- SRK and Salman Khan, had got great response. The movie has Shah Rukh as Bauua Singh, a 38-year-old vertically challenged man. Anushka plays Aafia, who is a wheelchair-bound woman suffering from cerebral palsy. Katrina Kaif plays a movie star in the film.

From the trailer and promos, it is evident that the movie is about a complicated love triangle between the three leads. It is expected to be a fun flick with an emotional core in it. The movie produced by SRK’s own banner Red Chillies Entertainment is getting ready to storm screens worldwide on December 21.

‘Shoot for Mammootty’s highly anticipated film, ‘Madura Raja’, which is a spin-off of Mammootty’s character from his blockbuster film, ‘Pokkiri Raja’, is progressing at a brisk pace. The movie is being directed by Vysakh, who helmed the 2010 film as well. Udhayakrishna, who last teamed up with the director for the record-breaking blockbuster ‘Pulimurugan’, is scripting ‘Madura Raja’. In a recent chat with TOI, he revealed that the movie’s climax will be an absolute visual spectacle.

He is quoted saying, “Scriptwriter Udaykrishna tells us, “We will be using visual effects in the climax scenes of the movie and it will be an absolute spectacle. We are sure that it will amaze the audience, especially the climax scenes in these portions.”

‘Madura Raja’ is touted to be one of the most expensive films in Mammootty’s career. The movie reportedly has four heroines in Anusree, Shamna Kasim, Anna Reshma and Mahima Nambiar. Tamil actor Jai is also said to be playing a prominent role in the movie. The movie also has an elaborate supporting cast comprising of Nedumudi Venu, RK Suresh, Vijayaraghavan, Salim Kumar, Aju Varghese, Dharmajan, Biku Kuttan, Siddique, MR Gopakumar, Kailas, Bala, Manikuttan, Noby and many others.

In an earlier interview director Vysakh had said that the second part of ‘Pokkiri Raja’ will be a more racy and technically advanced movie. This big budget movie is being produced by Nelson Ipe.

Only two more days are left for the release of ‘Odiyan’ and the excitement level is at its peak. The movie will be releasing amidst tremendous hype, created by the massive promotions done by the makers and the fans. The movie director by Shrikumar Menon has Mohanlal playing the lead. Manju Warrier and Prakash Raj play the other major roles. Narain will also be seen in a very crucial role.

Narain is all excited about the film. Though his is a guest appearance, his role has high significance in the film. He shares his screen space with Mohanlal, Manju and Prakash Raj. According to Narain, Odiyan is not just another regular mass masala entertainer. It is a mass-class film with an excellent screenplay. He also mentioned about how the director was ably supported by cinematographer Shaji Kumar and Peter Hein’s action choreography.

National-award winner Harikrishnan has scripted the movie based on the life of odiyans. It is primarily about odividya, a kind of black magic. People who practice it are called odiyans. They lived in mediveal Kerala and this movie is set in different timelines from pre-electricty days in the 1950s to 2000. This is the first time in Indian cinema that a movie based on odiyans is being made, which has raised the curiosity among the audience.

Odiyan is all set to storm screens this Friday (December 14). It has been planned as the biggest ever release in Malayalam cinema history. As per the makers, the movie will be released in around 4000 screens in 31 countries across the world. It is releasing simultaneously in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu languages.
