Here’s the much-awaited teaser of Rajinikanth’s Petta

Today is 12/12, the superstar day. Rajinikanth is celebrating his birthday day today and wishes have been pouring in from all parts of the world. As a special birthday treat, the makers of his upcoming movie, ‘Petta’, have released the eagerly anticipated teaser. As expected, it is a full-on mass teaser which focusses solely on Rajinikanth. The movie directed by Karthik Subbaraj promises to bring the superstar of old times. All the posters and Anirudh’s terrific music album indicates the same.

Along with Rajinikanth, ‘Petta’ has a huge lineup of actors like Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sasikumar, Bobby Simha, Simran, Trisha, Malavika Mohanan, Sasikumar, Megha Akash and Mahendran. The movie touted to be an action packed mass entertainer reportedly has Rajinikanth as a professor, who has a dark past. Simran and Trisha are paired with him in the film.

Kalanithi Maran is producing the movie under the banner of Sun Pictures. It is scheduled for a grand worldwide release, coming January.

Earlier this week, the first look poster of Pranav Mohanlal starrer ‘Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu’ was unveiled in social medias. The poster featuring a dapper looking Pranav got great response. Now the makers have announced that the teaser will be out tomorrow (December 13). Interestingly, the teaser of Mohanlal’s ‘Lucifer’ is also set to be released tomorrow. While ‘Lucifer’ teaser will be out in the morning, the teaser of Pranav’s film will be released in the evening. Both the teasers are expected to be screened in theatres playing ‘Odiyan’.

‘Irupathiyonnam Noottandu’, directed by ‘Ramaleela’ fame Arun Gopy, is touted to be an action-packed thriller. Pranav is said to be playing the role of an adventure junkie in the movie. The youngster has reportedly done some risky stunts, which includes surfing portions, that were shot in Bali. Peter Hein has choreographed the stunts in the movie.

The movie is expected to hit screens in January, though the exact release date is yet to be announced. Tomichan Mulakupadam is producing the movie under his banner Mulakupadam Films.

Megastar Mammootty to release the teaser of Lucifer!

For the last few weeks, there have been several speculations about the teaser of Lucifer. Initially, it was reported that the teaser will be screened in theatres playing Odiyan. But the makers have now announced that the teaser will be out one day earlier, on December 13. Megastar Mammootty will be sharing the teaser on his official social media handle.

Lucifer has massive expectations as the movie marks the first time coming together of Mohanlal and Prithviraj. The latter is making his debut as a director with this film. Mohanlal recently finished shooting for his portions in Russia. The team had earlier shot for the movie across Kerala in locations like Idukki, Ernakulam, Trivandrum, besides a brief schedule in Mumbai.

Scripted by Murali Gopy, the movie is a political thriller that has Mohanlal as a politician. Indrajith Sukumaran, Vivek Oberoi, Tovino Thomas and Manju Warrier will be seen in other major roles in the movie. Lucifer is funded by Mohanlal’s home banner Aashirvad Cinemas. The movie is schedule for a grand release in March, next year.

Maamankam next schedule to begin this month

Mammootty’s period flick Maamankam has been put on hold after completing a couple of schedules. Reportedly, the team had suffered a few property losses during the devastating floods that rocked Kerala. It forced a delay in shoot and Mammootty soon got busy with his other projects. Now the actor has allotted dates for the third schedule. The makers have planned to resume shoot by the end of this month. It is expected to extend for nearly a month.

Maamankam is directed by Sajeev Pillai, a former associate of Adoor Gopalakrishnan. The movie is based on the medieval fair, Maamankam, where brave warriors from across the country would come together to showcase their skills at combat. Mammootty plays a ‘Chaaver’ (warrior) in this movie, which revolves around the life of warriors who plot to defeat the Zamorin rulers.

Sajeev Pillai has scripted the movie after doing research works for nearly twelve years. This epic-scale project’s technical crew comprises of renowned cinematographer Ganesh Rajavelu a.k.a Jim Ganesh, action choreographer Kaecha Khamphakdee, editor Sreekar Prasad, music director M Jayachandran and VFX supervisor Kamala Kannan. Venu Kunnampilly of Kavya Films is producing this ambitious project.

Bhavana to reprise Trisha’s role in 96’s Kannada remake

Vijay Sethupathi-Trisha starrer ’96’ is unarguably one of the most sensational blockbusters in South Indian cinema in recent years. Directed by cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Prem Kumar, 96 is a poignant tale of two childhood sweethearts meeting after two decades for a school reunion. The movie has an universal appeal and ever since its release, there have been talks about it getting remade in other languages.

Last day, the Kannada version of the movie was officially announced. Titled as ’99’, the movie has ‘golden star’ Ganesh and Malayali actress Bhavana in the lead roles. Preetham Gubbi is directing the film. The makers have planned to start shooting from January and are targeting a summer release in March. Arjun Janya will be composing the music and Santhosh Rai Pathaje has been signed as the cinematographer.

Bhavana, who has been away from movies post her marriage, is making a comeback of sorts with this film. She was last seen in Kannada in the blockbuster Shiva Rajkumar starrer ‘Tagaru’. ’99’ will be her second film with Ganesh after sharing screen space with him in ‘Romeo’.

Karan Johar ropes in Dulquer Salmaan and Janhvi Kapoor for his next?

Dulquer Salmaan, who has already signed two films in Bollywood this year, is reportedly in talks for another project. Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is planning to make a biopic on pilot Gunjan Saxena, and he is trying to rope in Janhvi Kapoor and Dulquer Salmaan to play the lead roles.

Gunjan Saxena is a flight lieutenant who was posted in Kargil during the 1999 war. She had heroically evacuated injured soldiers from the war field flying through Kashmir. Gunjan was awarded the Shaurya Vir Award, for her outstanding show of courage in the Kargil war. She became the first woman to receive such an honour from the army.

If reports are to be believed, Janhvi has already started preparing to play Gunjan in her biopic. The movie will be centred around her character, and Dulquer has reportedly been approached to play her romantic interest. It is not yet known if the actor has signed the dotted lines. An official word in this regard is still awaited.

Earlier this year, Dulquer made his Bollywood debut with ‘Karwaan’, a fun entertainer in which he played the lead along with Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar. His upcoming film, ‘The Zoya Factor’ is also a heroine-centric film. Sonam Kapoor plays the lead in the film, which is directed by Abhishek Sharma. The movie has Dulquer playing the role of Indian cricket team’s captain.

Down south, Dulquer has multiple projects coming up in three languages. He is currently working on, ‘Oru Yamanda Premakatha’, which is nearing completion. He will next start shooting for ‘Vaan’, a romantic travelogue. ‘Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithaal’, a rom-com directed by debutant Desingh Periyasamy will be the actor’s next release in Tamil. He is also in talks for a couple of other projects in Telugu.

After shooting for around six months, Mohanlal has finally completed his portions for Lucifer. His last few scenes were shot in St Petersburg, Russia. Prithviraj, who is making his directorial debut with this movie, took to his social media handle to thank Mohanlal for believing in him. The former also mentioned about how he learnt more about cinema and his craft through Lucifer than the 16 years of his acting career.

Prithviraj rates directing Mohanlal in Lucifer as the absolute highlight of his career. His Facebook post reads,

So today..Lalettan bids adieu to #Lucifer and #StephenNedumpally It has been a journey like no other for me. When I took up the challenge of directing a huge film like #Lucifer , most of my well wishers told me it wasn’t the wisest decision I’ve made..and that as an actor, its a foolish investment of time. I still don’t know about that..but what I do know for sure..is that I’ve probably learned more about cinema and my craft in the last 6 months than the 16 years preceding it. Thank you #Lalettan for believing in me..and directing you has been the absolute highlight of my career. Regardless of how many ever films I direct..or even if I’ll never direct a film again..#StephenNedumpally will always be special.

The highly anticipated Mohanlal starrer ‘Odiyan’ is set to storm screens this Friday (December 14). The pre-release buzz is even bigger than ‘Pulimurugan’, that trade experts firmly believe that the movie has the potential to become the next 100 crore grosser from Mollywood. Taking everyone by surprise, director VA Shrikumar Menon has claimed that the movie has done history by registering a pre-release business of over Rs 100 crores.

According to him, ‘Odiyan’ is the first Malayalam movie, third from South India and eleventh in Indian cinema history to achieve this feat. The pre-release business is calculated by taking into account the various rights and pre-booking sale.

Director Shrikumar Menon has tweeted,

Odiyan is being planned as the biggest ever release in Malayalam cinema history. As per the makers, the movie will be released in around 4000 screens in 31 countries across the world. Apart from the major overseas centres like Middle East, UK, US and Australia, the movie will also be opening in countries like France, Poland, Japan and New Zealand. It is releasing simultaneously in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu languages, which is the first for a Malayalam movie. The movie will be screening with English subtitles.

Directed by Shrikumar Menon and scripted by Harikrishnan, ‘Odiyan’ is a mass entertainer that is based on the life of odiyans. Along with Mohanlal, actors like Prakash Raj, Manju Warrier, Manoj Joshi and Naren play the other major roles. Mohanlal’s home production banner Aashirvad Cinemas is funding the movie. Kerala bookings for the movie have started in full-swing.

As informed earlier by the makers, the first single from Ajith’s Viswasam has been released online. The song titled ‘Adchi Thooku’ is a fast paced mass track, that presumably is the hero intro song. D Imman has composed the track; this is his first film with Ajith, so it will be interesting to see if he can bring any freshness to the album. The movie touted to be a rural mass entertainer is directed by Siva.

Viswasam marks Ajith’s fourth film with the director after Veeram, Vedhalam and Vivegam. While Veeram and Vedhalam were commercially successful, Vivegam was unimpressive and bombed at the box office. With Viswasam, the actor-director duo will be hoping to get back to winning ways.

Viswasam has Ajith appearing in two different looks. Nayanthara plays the female lead. Sathya Jyothi Films is funding the movie. The movie is scheduled for Pongal release in January but the exact date has not yet been announced.
