Dhanush and Anirudh reunite for Rajinikanth’s Petta

Dhanush and Anirudh, fondly called DnA, were a sensational combo till a couple of years back. They delivered several blockbuster albums between 2011 and 2016. Some of their most memorable works are ‘3’, ‘Velaiyilla Pattathari’ (VIP) and ‘Maari’. But an alleged fall out between the two meant that they haven’t collaborate for nearly two years now. Finally, it took superstar superstar Rajinikanth to bring back DnA.

Dhanush has penned a song for Anirudh’s composition in ‘Petta’. The makers had kept the news under wraps but it got revealed when the official tracklist was released last day. Dhanush has penned the song, ‘Ilamai Thirumbudhe’. The makers are hosting a grand audio launch in Chennai today, where the full album will be released. Music lovers are eagerly looking forward to the songs, especially the DnA track.

‘Petta’ directed by Karthik Subbaraj is a mass entertainer that boasts of a huge star cast. Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sasikumar, Bobby Simha, Simran, Trisha, Sasikumar, Malavika Mohanan and Megha Akash will be seen in major roles alongside Rajinikanth. Kalanithi Maran is producing the movie under the banner of Sun Pictures. It is scheduled to hit screens for Pongal, 2019.

first look of Rajisha Vijayan’s June

The first look poster of her new movie, ‘June’ was unveiled today in social medias. She is playing the titular role of a school going youngster in the film. The actress has undergone a major makeover for the character. Directed by debutant Ahamed Khabeer, the movie looks very promising. Ahamed has scripted the movie jointly with Libin Varghese and Jeevan Baby Mathew.

‘June’ is reportedly a coming-of-age story that discusses about the various issues faced by girls in their teenage. Joju George plays Rajisha’s father in the film and it is said to be a meaty role. Vijay Babu is producing the movie under his banner Friday Film House. The makers have already announced that it will be a February release, but the exact date is not yet known.

Last day, the first song from ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ was released in social medias. This romantic song titled ‘Enthanee Mounam’ is rendered beautifully by Karthik and Sharon Joseph. Debutant Prince George has composed the song and lyrics is by the movie’s director Jis Joy. The movie has Asif Ali and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead roles.

‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ marks the director’s third successive film with Asif Ali after ‘Bicycles Thieves’ and ‘Sunday Holiday’. According to him, the movie will be socially relevant with a good message in it. He has scripted the movie with prominence to humour, friendship, romance and family sentiments.

‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ has a big supporting cast comprising of Aju Varghese, Balu Varghese, Dharshana Rajendran, Joseph Annamukutty Jose, Siddique, Renji Panicker, Shanthi Krishna, KPAC Lalitha and Maya Menon. The movie’s technical crew includes DOP Renadive of ‘CIA’ fame, editor Ratheesh Raj and debutant music director Prince George.

AK Sunil is producing the movie under the banner of New Surya Films. It is expected to hit screens early next year.

Last day, the makers of Odiyan released the first video song in social medias. The song titled ‘Maanam Thudukkanu’ is a light hearted melody sung by Shreya Ghoshal. M Jayachandran has composed the song and lyrics is penned by Rafeeq Ahamed. Mohanlal, Manju Warrier and Sana Althaf feature in the song. In the video, we get to see a heartwarming relationship between the three actors. We can also note that Sana Althaf’s character is visually impaired. Earlier, the songs ‘Kondoraam’ and ‘Enoruvan’ had also got great reception among music lovers.

Odiyan, directed by Shrikumar Menon and scripted by Harikrishnan, is a mass entertainer that is based on the life of odiyans. Along with Mohanlal, the movie also has Prakash Raj, Manju Warrier, Manoj Joshi and Naren in major roles. The movie is set to hit screens on December 14. It will be releasing simultaneously in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu languages. According to the makers, the movie will be releasing in over 31 countries.

Kerala bookings for the movie have already started in full swing. Record number of shows are being planned by the fans. Mohanlal’s home production banner Aashirvad Cinemas is funding the movie.

Pranav Mohanlal starrer ‘Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu’ was wrapped recently. The makers have now announced that the much awaited first look will be released tomorrow. Director Arun Gopy took to his official social media handle to share the news. The movie touted to be an action-packed thriller has Pranav playing the role of an adventure junkie. Tomichan Mulakupadam is producing the movie under his banner Mulakupadam Films.

Just like Pranav’s last film ‘Aadhi’, ‘Irupathiyonnam Noottandu’ is also said to be high on action. Renowned action choreographer Peter Hein is handling the stunts in the movie. Pranav has some done risky stunts in the film, which includes surfing portions that were shot in Bali. Malayali audience can expect to see some riveting action blocks in the movie.

Its technical crew comprises of cinematographer Abhinandan Ramanjunam, music director Gopi Sunder and National award winning editor Vivek Harshan. The movie is expected to hit screens in January, though the exact release date has not yet been announced.

As informed earlier by the makers, the second single from Dhanush starrer Maari 2 has been released today. The song titled ‘Maari Gethu’ is a fun fast packed track penned and composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Earlier, the first single ‘Rowdy Baby’ had become a sensational hit. Anirudh’s music was the USP of Maari. With Yuvan replacing him, there is a new flavor to the songs. It is after a long gap that Yuvan is composing for a Dhanush starrer, so expectations are high among the fans and music lovers.

Maari 2 is directed by Balaji Mohan, who helmed the first part as well. The movie’s recently released teaser had got great response in social medias. The sequel has Malayali actor Tovino Thomas playing the antagonist. Sai Pallavi, Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar and Krishna will be seen in other major roles.

Dhanush himself is producing the movie under his banner Wunderbar Films. The movie is scheduled to hit screens on December 21.

As we had reported earlier, Tovino Thomas starrer ‘Ente Ummante Peru’ is getting ready for Christmas release. Official teaser of the movie will be released today evening by actor Dulquer Salmaan through his official social media handle. The movie directed by debutant Jose Sebastian has Tovino playing the lead along with veteran actress Urvasi.

‘Ente Ummante Peru’ is scripted jointly by Jose Sebastian and Sarath R Nair. The movie has Tovino playing Hameed, an average Muslim youngster from Malabar who runs an antique shop and Urvasi plays his mother. Their on-screen chemistry will be something refreshing to look forward to. Newcomer Saipriya plays the female lead in the movie.

Shanthi Krishna, Dileesh Pothan, Hareesh Kanaran, Siddique and Mammukoya are also part of the supporting cast. On the technical front, Spain-born Jordi Plannel Closa is the cinematographer and Gopi Sunder handles the music department. Mahesh Narayanan is the editor. The movie is being produced jointly by Anto Jospeh Film Company and Al Tari Movies.

5 Malayalam movies scheduled for Christmas release!!

The Christmas season is closing in and several films from various languages are getting ready to cash in on the holiday period. This is one of the biggest seasons as theatres are certain to be full with the family audience. In Mollywood, already five mainstream films are scheduled to hit screens this Christmas. Starting the race will be Mohanlal’s Odiyan. Fahadh Faasil, Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban and Jayasurya are the other stars getting ready for the clash.

Arguably, the most hyped Malayalam movie in recent years, Odiyan will hit screens on December 14. It has been planned as the biggest ever release in Malayalam cinema history. According to the makers, the movie will be released in around 4000 screens in 31 countries across the world. It is releasing simultaneously in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu languages. In Kerala alone, the movie is expected to open in over 400 screens.

December 21 is the next most wanted release date. Tovino’s ‘Ente Ummante Peru’ and Fahadh Faasil’s ‘Njan Prakashan’ are planned for this same date. ‘Njan Prakashan’ has Fahadh teaming up with the evergreen Sathyan Anthikad-Sreenivasan combo. From the promos, we can make out that movie will sure attract the families.

Likewise, ‘Ente Ummante Peru’ is also a family friendly movie. Directed by debutant Jose Sebastian, the movie has Tovino and veteran actress Urvasi in the leads. As the title suggests, the movie tells an endearing story of a mother-son relationship.

‘Pretham 2’ is the second installment in the Pretham franchise. Jayasurya and Ranjith Sankar are coming together once again through this film. All their previous outings – ‘Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam’, ‘Njan Marykutty’, ‘Pretham’ and the ‘Punyalan’ franchise – were hits, so they will be hoping to continue the successful run.

‘Thattumpurath Achuthan’ starring Kunchacko Boban is directed by veteran filmmaker Lal Jose. The actor has been on in good form this year with most of his films finding acceptance among the general audience, largely families.

Apart from the aforementioned films, screens in Kerala will also be witnessing the release of Aquaman, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Maari 2, Seethakaathi, Adangamaru, KGF and Kanaa. Needless to say, it is indeed a delicious year-end treat for hardcore cinephiles.

2.0 has crossed its first week of theatrical run with extraordinary returns at the box office. Within a week, the movie crossed the Rs 500 crore gross worldwide and is still continuing strong in domestic and all major international centres. Both the Hindi and Tamil versions of 2.0 have been doing great business. With the weekend kicking in, theatres are already showing good occupancy.

Meanwhile, the makers have released the video of ‘Pullinangal’ song in social medias. This beautifully composed song by AR Rahman is the actual soul of the movie. It captures visuals of the wide variety of birds and the 3D experience it offers is surreal. The late Na Muthukumar has penned its soulful lyrics and is rendered by Bamba Bakya and Suzanne D’Mello.

2.0 directed by Shankar has Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in major roles. Lyca Productions have invested Rs 600 crores on the movie, which easily makes it the most expensive film ever made in Indian cinema. If the initial response is anything to go by, the movie will continue to do well in the coming weeks as well.
