Vijay’s Sarkar is performing better than what was expected. In the domestic box office, the movie has shattered multiple records. It is already the highest opening day grosser in the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. As per latest reports, the movie has surpassed Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju to become this year’s highest opener in Indian cinema. Confirming the same, Bollywood based trade analyast, Sumit Kadel has tweeted,

#SARKAR All India Net Biz- ₹ 35 cr. Yes it broke #Sanju day-1 collection record. Congratulations #Vijay @ARMurugadoss & the entire team.

It is not often that a South Indian film does bigger business than a Bollywood biggie and so it is indeed a proud moment for Tamil film industry. Distributors in all major regions are extremely pleased with the audience turn out. With the weekend coming, the movie is expected to register massive numbers at the box office.

Earlier in the day, trade expert Taran Adarsh had tweeted about the overseas numbers. His tweet reads,

Reportedly, Sarkar has grossed a whopping Rs 30 crore on the opening day in Tamil Nadu, which is a new record. In Kerala, where the actor enjoys humongous fan base, Sarkar has smashed the record of Baahubali 2 to emerge as the biggest opening day grosser. The official figures are yet to be out but trackers have informed that the existing record has been broken handsomely by a big margin.

Sarkar is a political drama directed by AR Murugadoss. Vijay plays a big shot corporate giant who due to circumstances lands in Tamil Nadu politics. The movie discusses about the importance of voting and the need for a proper governing body. Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar and Radha Ravi star in other major roles Sun Pictures has produced the movie, which has music by the maestro AR Rahman.

We had recently reported about Akshay Kumar starring in a new space film titled ‘Mission Mangal’. The movie which reportedly is about Mangalyaan, India’s first interplanetary mission to reach the Mars orbit, will be directed by Jagan Shakti and bankrolled by R Balki. Along with Akshay Kumar, the movie has an impressive line up of actors like Vidya Balan, Nithya Menen, Tapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharman Joshi and ‘Pink’ fame Kirti Kulhari.

‘Mission Mangal’ marks Nithya Menen’s debut outing in Bollywood. The actress who is known for taking up only meaty roles in the South has reportedly bagged a plum role in her B-Town debut as well. The female actors in the movie is said to play the roles of the real-life ISRO scientists who were associated with the Mangalyaan project. More details regarding the technical crew will be revealed shortly.

Fox Star Studios and Cape Of Good Films is jointly funding this movie. It is slated to commence from mid-November.

Tovino Thomas starrer ‘Oru Kuprasidha Payyan’ (OKP) is all set to to hit screens on November 9. The movie directed by Madhupal has high expectations among the cinephiles. It is mystery thriller centred around a murder investigation. Apart from the lead character played by Tovino, the movie has many other prominent characters and one of them is played by veteran Tamil actress Saranya Ponvannan.

Saranya, who is making her comeback to Malayalam after a long gap, plays the role of Tovino’s mother in the movie. Her character Chembammal is a Tamilian, which helped the actress to dub in her own voice. In a recent interview, Saranya opened up about her working experience in the movie. Just like the strong characters she is offered in Tamil cinema, the one in OKP also has enough scope for performance.

In the interview, Saranya was all praise for director Madhupal. She was amazed by how easily he got his actors to perform without any fuss whatsoever. And about working with Tovino, she said it was very comfortable and that helped her to relate easily to the character. Along with her, the movie also stars Nimsiha Sajayan, Anu Sithara, Lijomol Jose, Nedumudi Venu, Siddique, Dileesh Pothan, Sujith Sankar, Alencier Ley Lopez, Sudheer Karamana, Saiju Kurup and Balu Varghese.

Debutant Jeevan Job Thomas has scripted Oru Kuprasidha Payyan based on some real life incidents. The movie discusses about how a commoner can be wrongly framed in a criminal case and the loopholes in our legal system.

The long wait for ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ is over as the movie is set to storms screens worldwide tomorrow (November 8). Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and ‘Dangal’ fame Fathima Sana Sheikh are playing major roles in the movie. Expectations are massive for the movie after the promos and trailer. If reports are to be believed, the movie will be releasing in over 7000 screens worldwide. In India, the movie will be releasing in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.

Aamir Khan is known for his phenomenal success rate, and with senior Bachchan for company this time, collection records are most likely to be rewritten. ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ (ToH) is the first film where the two superstars are sharing screen space. The movie directed by ‘Dhoom 3’ fame Vijay Krishna Acharya fame is an adaptation of the 1839 novel ‘Confessions of a Thug’. It is a period flick set in the 18th century and has pirates in the narrative.

Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films has funded a whopping budget of Rs 300 crores on the movie. With the Diwali weekend and the presence of two big superstars, ToH is expected to take a record opening at the domestic box office.

We had recently reported about Santosh Sivan making a comeback to Malayalam industry as a director with a movie titled ‘Jack n Jill’. The movie starring Kalidas Jayaram and Manju Warrier in the lead went on floors last month. The former has pinned high hopes on the movie. An excited Kalidas, in a recent interview, said that ‘Jack n Jill’ will be totally different from Santosh Sivan’s earlier films, ‘Anandabhadram’ and ‘Urumi’.

While ‘Anandabhadram’ was a dark fantasy film that revolved around black magic, ‘Urumi’ was a period flick set in the pre-independence era. Both the films were widely acclaimed and Santosh Sivan’s work earned a lot of praise. His new film, ‘Jack n Jill’ is said to be a thriller, a genre that he has doesn’t before. Cinephiles are eagerly looking forward to the movie. Reportedly, the makers are planning it as a bilingual in Malayalam and Tamil version.

‘Jack n Jill’ also has Soubin Shahir, Nedumudi Venu, Aju Varghese, Soubin Shahir, Ramesh Pisharody and Suraj Venjaramoodu as part of its cast. A Dubai based company, Lensman Studios, is producing the movie. Its technical crew includes debutant music director Ram Surendar, lyricist BK Harinarayanan and production controller Alex.

As we had reported earlier, director Madhav Ramdasan is making a comeback with a movie titled ‘Ilayaraja’. Ajay Kumar, popularly known as Guinness Pakru is playing the lead role in the movie. The makers have released an interesting motion poster in social medias. It is more of a character introduction teaser featuring all the major actors in the movie. Pakru plays the role of Vanajan in the film, while Gokul Suresh appears in a cameo role as Bryan.

Ilayaraja has a solid supporting cast comprising of Deepak Parambol, Harisree Ashokan, Kavitha Nair, Anil Nedumangad, Baby Ardra, Master Adhithyan, Jayaraj Warrier, Alphy Panjikaran, Binish Babu, Thampy Antony and many others. In the technical front, Pappinu is the DOP and Ratheesh Vegha, the music director. Sreenivasa Krishna is the editor.

Director Madhav Ramadasan is well known for his acclaimed films, ‘Melvilasom’ and ‘Apothecary’. When he makes a comeback after four years with ‘Ilayaraja’, cinephiles are hoping to see another quality film from him. The director himself has penned the movie’s story while screenplay and dialogues are penned by Sudeep T George. Movie Musical Cutz is presenting the movie in association with Mumbai Cine Talkies.

As per reports, the movie is all set to start rolling from December. Pre-production works including location scouting process and casting has already been done. Anirudh Ravichander is the music director and Ravi Varman will be cranking the camera. Lyca Productions is backing the movie.

Latest buzz is that Malayalam cinema’s hot and happening star, Dulquer Salmaan has been approached to play a major role in ‘Indian 2’. The makers are yet to confirm the same but it will be huge if it materializes. Of late, Dulquer has been doing a lot of films outside his home turf and has expanded a commendable fan base among the non-Malayali audience. If the buzz about him starring in a prestigious project like Indian 2 materializes, the actor’s career graph will soar high.

Dulquer is currently busy shooting for his Hindi film, ‘The Zoya Factor’. The movie directed by Abhishek Sharma has him playing the lead along with Sonam Kapoor. As expected, Vijay’s Sarkar has started to shatter existing box office records. Reports from trade experts suggest that the movie has grossed a whopping Rs 31 crore on the opening day in Tamil Nadu, which is a new record. In Kerala, where the actor enjoys humongous fan base, Sarkar has smashed the record of Baahubali 2 to emerge as the biggest opening day grosser. In Chennai city, Sarkar has become the first movie to touch the Rs 2 crore mark on the opening day. Rajinikanth’s Kaala was the previous record holder. While Kaala earned Rs 1.76 crores, Sarkar has reportedly grossed Rs 2.34 crores. Trade analyst Kaushik tweeted,

Touted to be an intense political drama, NGK has Suriya playing the role of an MLA. The movie was initially planned as a Diwali release but it had to be postponed due to be various reasons. Reports suggest that the makers are in no hurry to finish the movie as they want Selvaraghavan to take his time and make it in his trademark style. The director enjoys a huge fan following among the Tamil audience as he has some quality films like Kadhal Kondein, Pudhupettai, 7G Rainbow Colony and Mayakkam Enna.

NGK is said to be one of the most challenging films that Suriya has done so far in his career. Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh play the two female leads while Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu will be seen as the villain.
