Simultaneous release for Odiyan Telugu version

The much-awaited Mohanlal strarrer ‘Odiyan’ is getting ready for release next month. Promotions are in full-swing as the makers are trying to ensure that the movie reaches out to people across the country. Recently, the Telugu rights of the movie was bagged by D Abhiram and Samapath Kumar of Daggubati Creations. Both the original and Telugu version will be releasing simultaneously on December 14. It is worth a mention that Pulimurugan’s Telugu dubbed version, Manyampuli, emerged as a surprise hit there. The makers of Odiyan will be hoping for the same.

Odiyan directed by Shrikumar Menon has Mohanlal in the eponymous role. He plays the role of odiyan Manikyan. National award winner Harikrishnan has scripted the movie based on odiyans, a group of people who practice a kind of black magic called odividya. They lived in mediveal Kerala and this movie is set in different timelines from pre-electricity days in the 1950s to 2000. Prakash Raj, Manju Warrier, Naren, Kailas, Sana Althaf and Manoj Joshi play the other major roles.

Antony Perumbavoor is producing the movie under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. The makers are working towards a grand release in December.

As Tovino Thomas starrer ‘Oru Kuprasidha Payyan’ (OKP) gets ready to hit screens on November 9, the makers have released the official trailer in social medias. The movie directed by Madhupal has high expectations among the cinephiles. It is mystery thriller centred around a murder investigation. Nimsiha Sajayan and Anu Sithara play the two female leads in the movie.

Jeevan Job Thomas has scripted OKP based on some real life incidents. It discusses about how a commoner can be wrongly framed in a criminal case and the loopholes in our legal system. Tovino as the protagonist Ajayan is said to have deliver one of his finest performances till date.

Along with Tovino, the movie also has an elaborate supporting cast comprising of Saranya Ponvannan, Lijomol Jose, Nedumudi Venu, Siddique, Dileesh Pothan, Sujith Sankar, Alencier Ley Lopez, Sudheer Karamana, Saiju Kurup and Balu Varghese. V Cinema is producing the movie and it will be released by Sre Priya Combines.

Kayamkulam Kochunni crosses 25 days mark with Rs 70 crore gross!

Nivin Pauly’s ‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’ has successfully crossed 25 days in theatres and it still continues to do good business at all the release centres. Hitting screens on October 11, the movie opened to tremendous response at the box office. As per the makers, the movie has grossed over Rs 70 crores from its 25 days theatrical run.

‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’ is also as the fastest Rs 50 crore grosser in Malayalam cinema. It is well on course to become one of the highest grossing Malayalam movies of all time. A simultaneous release worldwide helped to movie to reap massive initial box office collections. In the UAE and GCC region, the movie has done huge business.

‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’ directed by Rosshan Andrrews is the story of Kerala’s legendary highwayman, Kochunni, who was active in the 18th century. Scriptwriter duo Bobby-Sanjay adapted the popular folk stories of Kerala and gave their own interpretation to it. Nivin Pauly plays the titular role in the movie and superstar Mohanlal appears in an extended cameo as Ithikkara Pakki. The latter’s 15-minute-appearance is the movie’s major attraction.

Made on a budget of Rs 45 crores, ‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’ is one of the most expensive movies ever made in Malayalam cinema. Gokulam Gopalan of Sri Gokulam Films has produced the movie.

Asif Ali and director Jis Joy are coming together once again after the superhit success of ‘Sunday Holiday’. Their new movie titled as ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ is gearing up for release. A new poster was unveiled today through Asif Ali’s official social media handle. Asif, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Aju Varghese, Balu Varghese, Dharshana Rajendran and Joseph Annamukutty Jose feature in the poster.

‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ is touted to be a feel-good romantic flick. The movie has Asif Ali playing an engineering graduate while Aishwarya plays his friend, Pournami, an MBA student. Siddique, Renji Panicker, Shanthi Krishna, KPAC Lalitha, and Arjun Ashokan are also there in the supporting cast.

This is Asif Ali’s third outing with director Jis Joy after teaming up with him in ‘Bicycles Thieves’ and ‘Sunday Holiday’. According to the director, ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’, unlike his earlier films, will be a socially relevant one with a strong message in it. The director himself has scripted the movie with prominence to humour, friendship, romance and family sentiments.

The movie’s technical crew includes DOP Renadive of ‘CIA’ fame, editor Ratheesh Raj and debutant music director Prince George. AK Sunil is producing it under the banner of New Surya Films.

As Vijay’s Sarkar gets ready to strom screens on Tuesday (November 6), last minute promotions are in full swing. A new promo video has been released today. It features clips from the ‘CEO in the House’ song, which was shot in Las Vegas. Vijay with his stylish dance moves is sure to enthrall his scores of fans. The movie has him playing a bussiness tycoon, which is in stark contrast to the guy-next-door relateble roles that he is used to play.

Sarkar, written and directed by AR Murugadoss is publicized as a political thriller. The movie has been made based on on the recent political events in Tamil Nadu. It has Vijay playing Sundar, a multi millionaire businessman, who is forced to land in politics due to some unforeseen circumstances. How he initates a public uprising forms the crux of the movie.

Sarkar’s cast includes Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar, Pala Karuppaiah, Radha Ravi, Livingston, Yogi Babu, Prem Kumar and many others. The technical crew comprises of cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, music director AR Rahman and editor Sreekar Prasad.

As we had told earlier, the ‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’ duo of Nivin Pauly and Rosshan Andrrews are reuniting for another ambitious flick. Their upcoming movie, tentatively titled as ‘The Pirates of Diego Garcia’ is a survival thriller with sea as the backdrop. Pre-production works for the movie are currently progressing. The team is planning to make the movie on a big scale with an international crew.

‘The Pirates of Diego Garcia’ is said to be the dream project of Nivin and Rosshan Andrrews. They have approached a few big production houses and are expected to sign the dotted lines soon. The latter is debuting as a scriptwriter with this movie. Though the project was first announced with Unni R as the writer, he later opted out due to some unknown reasons.

Rosshan is working on the script after doing research for over a year. The movie is based on a real life incident that occurred in Kerala. The story apparently revolves around the life of fishermen and some true stories have been included in the narrative. More details are expected to be revealed shortly.

Meanwhile, ‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’ continue to find decent occupancy in centres across Kerala. Releasing on October 11, the movie opened to massive numbers at the box office. As per collection reports, the movie has already gone past the Rs 50 crore mark.

Madhupal opens up on why he opted for Tovino in ‘Oru Kuprasidha Payyan’

‘Oru Kuprasidha Payyan’ (OKP) is all set to hit screens on November 9. This Madhupal directorial has high expectations among the cinephiles as his earlier films ‘Ozhimuri’ and ‘Thalappavu’ were widely acclaimed ones. Compared to his earlier films, OKP will have more commercial appeal. While his earlier films had a veteran actor like Lal in the lead, OKP stars the hot and happening Tovino Thomas.

In a recent interview, Madhupal was asked about the reason behind casting Tovino. The director said, “Ajayan, the lead character in this movie has a dual nature. At times, he seems like someone who is not afraid of anyone but suddenly he moves into a shell and becomes nervous of everyone around him. There is always a contrasting nature in the character and I felt an actor like Tovino could portray it well.”

Of late, Tovino has been part of many hit films and his performances have also been noted. He is said to have delivered a very nuanced act in OKP. The actor has also done some terrific stunts in the film. Scripted by Jeevan Job Thomas, the movie is a mystery thriller centered around a murder investigation.

Confirmed: Jean Paul Lal to direct Prithviraj next

Jean Paul Lal aka Lal Jr has had an interesting start to his filmmaking career. His debut film, ‘Honey Bee’ was an youthful entertainer that became a rage among the Malayalis youngsters. His second film, ‘Hi I’m Tony’ was in stark contrast; a dark psychological thriller, which was a daring attempt. His last outing, ‘Honey Bee 2.5’ had high expectations prior to its release but ended up as a failure. Jean is now back on track as he is set to helm his next with Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead.

According to Jean, it is a big budget project that will be entirely different from what he has done so far. Writer-filmmaker Sachy is scripting the movie and it is slated to go on floors next February. More details are expected to be officially announced shortly.

Prithviraj meanwhile has his kitty full with a handful of projects. He is currently working on his directorial debut ‘Lucifer’. He has ‘Kaaliyan’, ‘Aadujeevitham’ and Kalabhavan Shajon’s directorial debut ‘Brother’s Day’ coming up. The actor is also in talks with ‘Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil’ director Tinu Pappachan and Sachy for a couple of other projects.

Prithviraj’s next to hit screens is Nine aka 9, a sci-fi thriller. The movie directed by Jenuse Mohammed marks the maiden venture of the actor’s banner, Prithviraj Productions. It is scheduled to release on February 7.

Putting an end to the long wait, the makers have released the trailer through social medias.

As expected, the trailer is nothing short of extraordinary. The years of efforts that the makers have put in is clearly evident from the quality of the trailer. It has some stunning VFX works, probably the best in Indian cinema. From the trailer it is assured that 2.0 will be a never-before-seen theatrical experience for the normal Indian audience.

Lyca Productions is funding this mega budget movie. The makers have claimed to have invested a whopping 75 Million Dollar (Rs 541 Crore) in the movie, which easily makes it the most expensive film ever made in Indian cinema. The movie is getting ready to storm screens worldwide on November 29.
