Oru Kuprasidha Payyan censored U/A; All set for release!

Tovino Thomas starrer ‘Oru Kuprasidha Payyan’ (OKP) was censored with a U/A certificate last day. The movie has a run time of 2 hours 24 minutes. Now that the censoring is over, the movie is all set to hit screens on November 9. This Madhupal directorial has high expectations among the cinephiles as his earlier films ‘Ozhimuri’ and ‘Thalappavu’ were widely acclaimed ones.

‘Oru Kuprasidha Payyan’ scripted by Jeevan Job Thomas is a mystery thriller centered around a murder investigation. The movie discusses about how someone can be wrongly farmed in a criminal case and exposes the loopholes in the system. Madhupal is making his a comeback as a filmmaker after six long years, so expectations are naturally on the higher side. Compared to his earlier films, OKP will have a more commercial appeal. Tovino is said to have done some terrific action blocks in the film.

Along with Tovino, OKP has an elaborate supporting cast comprising of Anu Sithara, Nimisha Sajayan, Saranya Ponvannan, Lijomol Jose, Nedumudi Venu, Siddique, Suresh Kumar, Dileesh Pothan, Sujith Sankar, Alencier Ley Lopez, Sudheer Karamana, Saiju Kurup and Balu Varghese. V Cinema is producing the movie and it will be released by Sre Priya Combines.

We had earlier reported about Sivakarthikeyan teaming up with ‘Irumbuthirai’ director PS Mithran for a thriller film. Veteran actor Arjun will be playing a major role in the movie and RD Raja’s 24 AM Studios will be funding it. The project was officially announced last day by Sivakarthikeyan through his social media handle. He has tweeted,

This is Sivakarthikeyan’s first film with Arjun and it will be interesting to see them together on-screen. The latter had recently played the villain role in ‘Irumbuthirai’ and his performance was widely appreciated. Director Mithran’s debut work was praised by the critics and he was declared as a sensible filmmaker to watch out for.

According to him, his new film with Sivakarthikeyan will also be a thriller with a very relevant social message in it. George C Willaims will be cranking the camera and Ruben will be handling the edits. Yuvan Shankar Raja has been signed as the music director. The movie will start rolling next year once Sivakarthikeyan is free from his other commitments.

Official: Here’s the new release date of Prithviraj’s Nine

Prithviraj’s highly ambitious flick ‘Nine’ aka ‘9’ is eagerly awaited by Malayali cinephiles. The movie which also marks his maiden production venture is being made on a lavish budget. Sony Pictures International Productions is making their entry to Mollywood by jointly funding this project. It is written and directed by Jenuse Mohamed, who made his debut with the rom-com ‘100 Days of Love’.

Nine was scheduled to hit screens on November 16 but it has now been postponed as post-production works are still pending. The movie will be hitting screens only on February 7. According to Prithviraj, Nine’s core is a father-son relationship. It is being made as a science horror and the actor assures that it will be a new experience for the Malayali audience.

The movie also has Wamiqa Gabbi, Mamta Mohandas and Prakash Raj in major roles. It also has a solid technical crew. Abhinandan Ramanujam, well known for his works in movies like ‘Amen’ and ‘Mosayile Kuthirameenukal’ has cranked the camera and edits are handled by Shameer Muhammed. Shaan Rahman is composing the songs while ‘Da Thadiya’ actor Sekhar Menon composes the original music score.

‘Starring Pournami’ team’s next is with Tovino Thomas

Few years back, a bunch of youngsters had teamed up for a road movie titled ‘Starring Pournami’. The movie had Sunny Wayne, Tovino Thomas and Aju Varghese in the lead roles. Unfortunately, the project got dropped halfway after completing a couple of schedules. The makers had even released a teaser which met with great response from cinephiles. The same team is now reuniting for a film titled ‘Joe’ with Tovino Thomas in the lead.

Almost all the core members of ‘Starring Pournami’ have been retained in the new movie, which includes the director, music director and cinematographer. Alby will be directing the movie. Kailas Menon, who recently shot to fame with ‘Theevandi’, is composing the music. Sinu Sidharth is the DOP. Other details will be revealed shortly by the makers.

Meanwhile, Tovino is awaiting the release of ‘Oru Kuprasidha Payyan’, which is set to hit screens on November 9. The actor is currently working on the second schedule of Salim Ahamed’s ‘And The Oscar Goes To’. He recently finished the shoot of debutant Jose Sebastian ‘Ente Ummante Peru’. ‘Luca’ with Arun Bose, ‘Kilometers and Kilometers’ with Jeo Baby and ‘Kalki’ with Praveen Prabharam are his other projects in the pipeline.

The Badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan is celebrating his birthday today. Fans across the world have been sending him wishes in personal and through social medias. There was one more reason to wait for the day as it was announced that the trailer of his new movie, Zero would be released today. The 3 minute long trailer opens to us a complicated love triangle between SRK, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. Aanand L Rai is directing the movie.

Zero has SRK playing Bauua Singh, a 38-year-old vertically challenged man. Anushka plays Aafia, who is a wheelchair-bound woman suffering from cerebral palsy. The three leads promise to deliver an entertaining performance, especially SRK who looks very convincing in his part. Due credits for the VFX team also for that. Just like SRK’s cameo appearance in Salman Khan’s Tubelight last year, Salman is also doing a special cameo role in Zero.

Anand L Rai is well known for helming widely acclaimed movies like Tanu Weds Manu, Raanjhanaa and Tanu Weds Manu: Returns. Like his earlier films, Zero is also expected to be a fun flick with an emotional core in it. The movie produced by SRK’s own banner Red Chillies Entertainment is slated to hit screens worldwide for Christmas.

The long wait for Vijay’s Sarkar is coming to an end this Tuesday (November 6). Bookings have already opened in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Since the movie is releasing on the festive Diwali day, is most likely to shatter all the existing opening day collection records. As per reports from trade experts, the movie will be releasing in over 3000 screens across the world, which is the biggest ever for a Tamil movie.

As the release date is closing in, the makers have been doing aggressive promotions, both through TV channels and the social media space. A new promo video was released today. Apart from releasing it online, it is also being telecast in Sun Network channels, in order to attract the family audience. The movie is being produced by Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Pictures.

Sarkar, written and directed by AR Murugadoss is publicized as a political thriller. The movie has been made based on on the recent political events in Tamil Nadu. It has Vijay playing a multi millionaire businessman, who is forced to land in politics due to circumstances. How he initates a public uprising forms the crux of the movie.

Mohanlal starrer Drama hit screens last day amidst high expectations. The movie has opened to good audience response from the common audience. Though critic reviews have been mixed, theatres are witnessing good occupancy. It is after a long gap that Mohanlal is part of an out and out fun entertainer, so families have taken a particular liking for the movie.

Mohanlal and director Ranjith have collaborated several times in the past. But Drama is in stark contrast to the films they have don before. The movie set entirely in the UK revolves around a funeral service. Mohanlal plays the role of Rajasekharan aka Raju while Asha Sarath plays his wife Rekha. The director is currently working on ‘Ambili’, a travel film starring Soubin Shahir in the lead role. It also has Nazriya Nazim’s younger brother Naveen Nazim and newcomer Tanvi Ram in major roles. John Paul is most likely to start works for Kunchacko Boban only after finishing ‘Ambili’.

As we had reported earlier, director Arun Kumar Aravind’s next movie has Asif Ali and Farhaan Faasil in the lead. The movie has been titled as ‘Underworld’ and its motion poster was released last day in social medias. The movie is being scripted by Shibin Francis, who had earlier penned films like ‘Comrade In America’ (CIA) and ‘Paavada’. It is being produced under the banner of D14 Entertainments.

Arun Kumar Aravind is a highly promising filmmaker, noted for his films like ‘Cocktail’, ‘Ee Adutha Kaalathu’ and ‘Left Right Left’. ‘Underworld’ is his second outing with Asif Ali after ‘Kaattu’. Reports suggest that the movie will be a mass action-oriented entertainer. Jean Paul Lal, Samyuktha Menon and Ketaki Narayan are also part of the cast.

The technical crew includes DOP Alex J Pulickal and composer duo Yakzan Gary Pereira-Neha Nair. Arun Kumar himself will be handling the edits. Shoot for the movie will kick-start early next year.
