After Soubin made a brilliant directorial debut with ‘Parava’, there were lot of speculations about his new film. Mammootty, Dulquer Salmaan and Fahadh Faasil were some of the names doing the rounds, and so Kunchacko Boban’s announcement has come as a big surprise. Of late, the actor has been doing a lot of similar roles in fun family-oriented entertainers. It will be interesting to see what kind of role he will be playing in Soubin’s film. Sunny Leone’s debut Malayalam movie titled ‘Rangeela’

Last day, Sunny Leone made a surprise announcement through her social media handle. The actress is all set to make her debut in Malayalam film industry. The movie directed by Santhosh Nair has been titled as Rangeela. The title poster has been unveiled in social medias. Jayalal Menon of Backwater Studio is producing the movie jointly with Fairytale Productions. The movie will be distributed by One World Entertainments.

Director Santhosh Nair has previously helmed the Fahadh Faasil starrer ‘Money Ratnam’. He is also directing the upcoming movie ‘Sachin’, which has Dhyan Sreenivasan and ‘Angamaly Diaries’ fame Anna Reshma in the lead roles. Details regarding when ‘Rangeela’ starts rolling will be revealed shortly.

Here’s the first look poster of Dhanush’s Maari 2

As we already know, a sequel for Dhanush’s Maari is getting ready. Balaji Mohan, who directed tye first part is helming the sequel as well. The first look poster of Maari 2 was unveiled today in social medias. Dhanush is back as the naughty don in his trademark getup. Along with the first look, the makers have also confirmed that the movie will be hitting screens next month.

Malayali actor Tovino Thomas plays the villain role in Maari 2. The actor recently finished dubbing for his portions. As per the makers, Tovino will be appearing in multiple looks in the movie. It is not a regular villain role, but a very strong character with multiple shades. The movie also stars Sai Pallavi, Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar and Krishna in major roles.

Anirudh’s music was the USP of Maari. But in the sequel, Yuvan Shankar Raja has replaced him. It is after a long gap that Yuvan is composing for a Dhanush starrer, so expectations are high among the fans. Dhanush himself is producing the movie under his banner Wunderbar Films.

Antony Varghese’s Jallikkattu starts rolling

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s new film ‘Jallikkattu’ went on floors today with a customary pooja ceremony. Reportedly, the movie is based on S Hareesh’s short story ‘Maoist’. It discusses about the Maoist situation and a person’s right to freedom, from the point of view of two buffaloes. Though the makers have not announced the cast officially, it is almost confirmed that Antony Varghese, Vinayakan and Sabumon Abdusamad are playing the major roles.

Antony, who was launched by Lijo with ‘Angamaly Diaries’, has also worked under his production in ‘Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil’. Vinayakan has also worked with Lijo in ‘Ee Maa Yau’ and ‘Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil’. Sabumon did a cameo role in the director’s ‘Double Barrel’. The experience of working together previously will definitely reflect on their performances on-screen.

‘Jallikkattu’ is scripted jointly by Hareesh and R Jayakumar. In the technical crew, Lijo has retained his ‘Angamaly Diaries’ composer Prashanth Pillai and cinematographer Girish Gangadharan. Deepu Joseph will be handling the edits and Renganaath Ravee is in charge of the sound design.

Adhyarathri: Jibu Jacob and Biju Menon reunite after the success of Vellimoonga

Jibu Jacob has started his career as a director on a high note. Both his films, ‘Vellimoonga’ and ‘Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol’, have tasted success at the box office. Last day, the director announced his new project through his official social media handle. He is reuniting with his ‘Vellimoonga’ director Biju Menon for a movie titled ‘Adhyarathri’. Sharis Mohammed and Jebin Joseph Antony of ‘Queen’ fame are scripting the movie.

Along with the title poster, the movie’s crew was also introduced. Sreejith Nair will be handling the camera and music will be by Bijibal. Central Pictures is producing the movie, which is expected to start rolling once Biju Menon is free from his other commitments. The actor has already committed for around three new projects.

Ganagandharvan: Mammootty’s next with Ramesh Pisharody announced!

As the state of Kerala celebrates its 62nd birthday today, there is a sense of joy and pride among Malayalis across the world. On this joyous occasion, several new projects in Malayalam film industry are being announced. Ramesh Pisharody has also announced his next directorial venture. He will be teaming up with none other than megastar Mammootty for an out and out fun entertainer. The movie has been titled as ‘Ganagandharvan’ and its title poster was unveiled today in social medias. It was also released in theatres screening Mohanlal’s ‘Drama’.

Ramesh Pisharody turned a director earlier this year with ‘Panchavarnathatha’, a fun-filled entertainer starring Jayaram and Kunchacko Boban. The movie emerged successful at the box office. ‘Ganagandharvan’, his new movie with Mammootty, is also expected to be on similar lines. He has scripted the movie jointly with Hari P Nair. More details regarding the other cast and crew will be announced shortly. Shoot will be commencing early next year.

Mammootty meanwhile is busy shooting for ‘Unda’, directed by Khalid Rahman. The actor also has ‘Madhura Raja’ with Vysakh, ‘Maamankam’, ‘Ameer’ with Vinod Vijayan and Amal Neerad’s ‘Bilal’ in his kitty. He recently finished shooting for the YSR biopic ‘Yatra’, which is slated for release in December.

Tovino Thomas starrer ‘Oru Kuprasidha Payyan’ (OKP) is gearing up to hit screens on November 9. The movie directed by Madhupal is has high expectations among the cinephiles. As informed earlier, a new song has been released by the makers. The song ‘Pranayappoo’ is composed Ouseppachan and lyrics is penned by Sreekumaran Thampi. Devanand and Rimi Tomi have rendered the track.

‘Or Kuprasidha Payyan’ scripted by Jeevan Job Thomas is a mystrey thriller centered around a murder investigation. The movie has an ensemble supporting cast comprising of Anu Sithara, Nimisha Sajayan, Saranya Ponvannan, Lijomol Jose, Nedumudi Venu, Siddique, Suresh Kumar, Dileesh Pothan, Sujith Sankar, Alencier Ley Lopez, Sudeer Karamana, Saiju Kurup and Balu Varghese.

Director Madhupal’s earlier two films – Thalappavu and Ozhimuri – were widely acclaimed and had won numerous accolades as well. The filmmaker is making a comeback after six long years, so expectations are naturally on the higher side. Compared to his earlier films, OKP will have a more commercial appeal.

The 49th edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is scheduled to be held from November 20th to 28th in Goa. The organizers had recently released the list of Indian Panorama films for the year. Four Tamil films will be screened at the festival this year. ‘Peranbu’, ‘Pariyerum Perumal’, ‘Tolet’ and ‘Baaram’ are the four movies selected for screening.

Congratulating the makers on their achievement, director duo Pushkar-Gayathri, best known for their film ‘Vikram Vedha’, recently put up a tweet. As per their tweet, ‘Peranbu’ and ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ are two of the best films that the couple have seen this year. The tweet reads,

“Two of the best films we saw this year #Peranbu by @Director_Ram and his former A.D @mari_selvaraj ‘s #PariyerumPerumal selected for the Indian Panorama at #IFFI #Goa! Awesome! More and more people need to see these films! @am_kathir @beemji @mammukka @yoursanjali @plthenappan”

Though ‘Peranbu’ is yet to have its theatrical release, the movie has already been screened to the industry insiders. The Ram directorial is eagerly awaited by the cinephiles. Starring Mammootty and ‘Thanga Meengal’ fame Sadhana in the lead, the movie tells the story of a poignant father-daughter relationship.

‘Peranbu’ won international acclaim after it was screened at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR) and the Shanghai International Film Festival. It secured 20th position amongst the 187 films considered for the audience award category in IFFR and was also nominated for the prestigious NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) award.

We are exactly a month away from the commencement of Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’s shoot. This highly ambitious period-flick helmed by Priyadarshan is getting ready to go on floors on December 1. As per reports, shoot will kick-start in Hyderabad’s Ramoji Rao Film City, where huge sets are being erected. The makers have finalized the cast and it will be officially announced shortly.

Santhosh T Kuruvilla, one of the movie’s producers, has confirmed that the movie will have actors from India and abroad. Re-sharing one of his earlier posts, he has written,

“This was my post one year before only with the dream…. even i couldnt imagine that it will happen…..I BELIEVE DREAMS ARE THE MOST POWER FULL ENERGY……exactly in one month time Kunjali Marakar shoot will start rolling and ever biggest movie …History …Mass….Action….and actors from all language in india and abroad all set and fixed..”

The movie is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the naval chief of Zamorin of Calicut in the 16th century, whose duty was to protect the coast against the invading Portuguese army. Mohanlal plays the titular role in the movie while his son Pranav plays the younger part of his character.

Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Mukesh, Keerthy Suresh, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Madhu, Manju Warrier and Pooja Kumar are said to be part of the cast. Few British and Chinese actors will also be seen in the movie. The technical crew includes DOP Tirru and production designer Sabu Cyril. Music will be handled by three different composers.

Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment are coming together to produce what is one of the most expensive projects in Malayalam cinema till date. The movie has been planned to be made on an estimated budget of Rs 100 crores.
