Randamoozham: BR Shetty confirms that he won’t be joining with MT Vasudevan Nair

Lately, Randamoozham has been in the news for all wrong reasons. The problem arose when writer MT Vasudevan Nair approached the court demanding the return of his script as the contract period got over. Though director Shrikumar Menon tried to initiate talks, MT has been quite form on his stand. UAE based businessman BR Shetty, who was supposed to produce the movie, has now declared that he won’t be collaborating with MT again.

However, Shetty is quite confident about making his dream to make Mahabharatha a reality. In a recent interaction with NIE, the producer is quoted saying, “I won’t be joining with MT again as he has already gone to court demanding his script back. I cannot court controversies by producing a movie on that script.”

When asked about the future of his project, he said, “I can make the movie for Rs 1,000 crore, maybe lesser, or go twice as high. I need to bring out Mahabharatha as a movie. It will be filmed to be remembered on all aspects which does not lose any key elements from the epic. It will also be dubbed into other major Indian languages and foreign languages as announced earlier.”

Shetty also sounded not very keen on retaining Shrikumar Menon as the director. He said, “It should be remembered for its craft and the manner in which the story is told without any addition or subtraction. Top actors from India and abroad will be roped in. Technicians who have made their mark in the industry will also be brought on board.”

It is almost confined that Vijay’s next film after Sarkar will be with director Atlee. The duo has previously teamed up for two blockbusters – Theri and Mersal. Eyeing a hattrick of hits, Atlee and Vijay are coming together once again next year. It is reported that their new movie will go on floors by January, 2019. There is also a buzz in social medias about the movie’s title. It is speculated that the movie has been titled as ‘Aaloporan Tamizhan’, taken from the song of the same name in Mersal.

AGS Entertainment is producing this film, pre-production for which has already begun. The makers are currently in the process of finalizing the cast and crew. As Atlee’s earlier two films with Vijay were hugely successful, expectations will be on the higher side for this upcoming movie as well.

Recently, when asked about the burden of expectations, the director is quoted saying, “I feel more courageous and more responsible. I wish to do something which wasn’t done before. I’ve got a good lead. The official announcement will be made soon. Expect the unexpected.”

Meanwhile, Vijay’s Sarkar is all set to storm screens on November 6, Diwali Day The movie is getting ready as a massive worldwide release. This AR Murugadoss directorial is a political thriller that also stars Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar and Radha Ravi in major roles.

Rocketry – The Nambi Effect: Madhavan announces Nambi Narayanan biopic

As we had reported earlier, R Madhavan is starring in the biopic of scientist Nambi Narayanan. The movie has been titled as ‘Rocketry – The Nambi Effect’. Madhavan made the official announcement through social medias. The movie has been planned as a multilingual in three languages – Tamil, English and Hindi. Its first teaser will be released on Wednesday (October 31).

Nambi Narayanan is a former cryogenic division head at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). In 1994, he was falsely charged with espionage and arrested. The charges against him were later dismissed by the CBI in 1996, and the Supreme Court declared him not guilty in 1998. In September this year, the apex court awarded Nambi Narayanan Rs 50 lakh compensation for being subjected to mental and physical torture in the case.

Rocketry – The Nambi Effect is being directed by Anant Mahadevan and Madhavan will be appearing in multiple looks in the movie. It is easily one of the most challenging roles in the actor’s two-decade-long career. The movie is based on Nambi Narayanan’s book ‘Ready to fire: How India and I survived the ISRO spy case’, which details about the controversial case and his infamous arrest. In the book, he has written about the mental trauma he suffered during the spy case framed against him.

Santosh Sivan’s ‘Jack and Jill’ starts rolling

After a seven-year-long-gap, Santosh Sivan is making comeback to Malayalam film industry as a director. His new movie titled ‘Jack and Jill’ has Kalidas Jayaram and Manju Warrier in the lead roles has gone on floors. The director took to his social media handle to inform the same. He has tweeted,

Venu Chetan and Aju varghese, Indrans an d Soubin and a lot of exciting cast to follow”

The movie is said to be a thriller and the makers are planning it as a bilingual. Besides Malayalam, the movie will also have a Tamil version. A Dubai based company, Lensman Studios, is producing the movie. Its technical crew includes debutant music director Ram Surendar, lyricist BK Harinarayanan and production controller Alex. It remains to be seen if Santosh himself will be wielding the camera.

Reportedly, some other technicians from Bollywood and overseas will be associated with the movie. Apart from the various locations in Kerala, the movie will also have a brief schedule in London.

It’s a wrap for Tovino’s ‘Ente Ummante Peru’

With a handful of projects, Tovino Thomas is easily one of the most busiest actors in M-Town. He has wrapped up the shoot of his new movie, ‘Ente Ummante Peru’ in double quick time. The movie directed by debutant Jose Sebastian has Tovino playing the lead along with veteran actress Urvasi. As the title suggests, the movie tells an endearing story of a mother-son relationship.

‘Ente Ummante Peru’ is scripted jointly by Jose Sebastian and Sarath R Nair. The movie has Tovino playing Hameed, an youngster from Malabar who runs an antique shop. Newcomer Saipriya has been paired with him in the movie. Shanthi Krishna, Dileesh Pothan, Hareesh Kanaran, Siddique and Mammukoya are also part of the supporting cast.
In the technical side, Jordi Plannel Closa is the cinematographer and Gopi Sunder handles the music department. Mahesh Narayanan is the editor. The movie is being produced jointly by Anto Jospeh Film Company and Al Tari Movies.

Tovino will next join the second schedule of Salim Ahamed’s ‘And The Oscar Goes To’. He also has a 3-day shoot left for Prithviraj directorial ‘Lucifer’, that has Mohanlal in the lead. ‘Luca’ with debutant Arun Bose, ‘Kilometers and Kilometers’ with Jeo Baby and ‘Kalki’ with Praveen Prabharam are his other upcoming films. His next to hit screens is Madhupal’s ‘Oru Kuprasidha Payyan’, slated for release on November 9. His maiden straight Tamil film ‘Maari 2’, in which he plays the villain opposite Dhanush, is also gearing up for release by the end of this year.

Suriya is currently shooting for his new film with director KV Anand. The actor reportedly plays an NSG commando in the movie. From the location stills, the actor is seen sporting multiple looks. A new still of his resembling a village guy is now doing the rounds in social medias. It is said to be leaked from a folk song shoot. Earlier, the actor was seen in an army man like stiff look. Reports suggest that Suriya will be appearing in several other getups in the movie.

Suriya 37 has a huge star comprising of Mohanlal, Arya, Boman Irani, Samuthirakani, Sayyeshaa and many others. Mohanlal is playing the Indian Prime Minister’s role in the movie. Suriya reportedly plays the role a high-rank National Security Guard (NSG) officer, who is in charge of the PM’s security. Mohanlal and Suriya had shot together for their combination scenes in London, Chennai and in North India.

The movie touted to be an action-packed thriller has been planned to be shot in over ten different countries. Abhinandan Ramanujam is wielding the camera and Harris Jayaraj has been signed as the music director. Lyca Productions is funding this big budget movie.

Kunchacko Boban starrer ‘Johny Johny Yes Appa’ got released last Friday (October 26) and has opened to good positive response in all the centres. The movie has been given a clean chit by the families, who have rated it as an enjoyable entertainer for the families. Since it is a weekend most theatres are having good occupancy. Families are expected to come in large numbers in the coming days as well.

Actor-director Ramesh Pisharody recently watched the movie and heaped praise on the team. In his Facebook page, he has written that the movie is a good entertainer with several fun moments. He also mentioned about the performances of Kalabhavan Shajon, Tini Tom and Abu Salim.

‘Johny Johny Yes Appa’ is directed by Marthandan and scripted by Joji Thomas of ‘Vellimoonga’ fame. The movie has Anu Sithara paired opposite Kunchako Boban. Mamta Mohandas is also there in a very prominent role. Sharafudheen, Vijayaraghavan, Master Sanoop Santhosh, Anikha and Geeta are also part of the supporting cast. In the technical crew, Vinod Illampally cranks the camera and Shaan Rahman handles the music department.

Vaishaka Rajan has produced the movie under the banner of Vaishaka Films.

Dileep has been very choosy with his films lately. He has two films coming up – ‘Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakkeel’ with B Unnikrishnan and ‘Professor Dinkan’ with Ramachandra Babu. The latest we hear is that the actor is teaming up with ‘Oru Vadakkan Selfie’ fame G Prajith for a big budget film. It is being jointly scripted by Abhilash Pillai and TN Suraj. Aby Thottapuram of Thottapuram Films is producing the movie.

Prajith meanwhile is working on a film starring Biju Menon and Anu Sithara. Sajeev Pazhoor, who won the National award for ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’, is scripting the movie. The director is expected to start works on Dileep’s film soon after the completion of his ongoing project.

Dileep is currently busy shooting for B Unnikrishnan’s film, which has him playing the role of an advocate. Shoot for the movie is expected to be wrapped up by the end of this year itself. A couple of schedules is still pending for ‘Professor Dinkan’, an ambitious 3D film that has him in the role of a magician. As per reports, Dileep is also in talks for new projects with Joshiy, Nadirshah and Arun Gopy.

Anwar Rasheed is one of the most successful directors in Malayalam film industry. In his 13-year-long career, he has directed only four films and a couple of short film segments. He is currently helming the Fahadh Faasil starrer ‘Trance’, which is eagerly awaited by the cinephiles. The movie has been on the floors for over a year and is slated for release next March. The latest we hear is that Anwar Rasheed is set to join hands with Tamil star ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram.

As per our sources, Anwar Rasheed is planning to team up with Vikram after the completion of ‘Trance’. The movie is said to be a Malappuram based period flick set in the 70s. If this turns out to be true, it will mark Vikram’s comeback to Malayalam industry after nearly two decades. Harshad, the scriptwriter of Mammootty starrer ‘Unda’, is penning this upcoming movie as well. It is worth a mention that ‘Unda’ was initially supposed to be produced by Anwar Rasheed.

Vikram is currently shooting for his new Tamil movie with director Rajesh M Selva of ‘Thoongavanam’ fame. The movie also starring Akshara Haasan is produced by Kamal Haasan’s banner Raj Kamal International and Tridents Arts. Vikram has also committed for RS Vimal’s mega budget project, ‘Mahavir Karna’. An official word regarding his association with Anwar Rasheed is expected to be made very shortly.

‘Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil’ fame Tinu Pappachan’s next is with Prithviraj

Director Tinu Papachan has made a mark with his debut film ‘Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil’, the first full-length jail break thriller in Malayalam cinema. The movie starring Antony Varghese in the lead emerged as a hit at the box office and Tinu’s making style was appreciated by the critics. Recently, there were rumours about the director teaming up with Prithviraj Sukumaran and Antony, but soon got dismissed as baseless.

As per our trustworthy sources within the industry, Tinu is next teaming up with Prithviraj for an emotional thriller. The movie has been planned to be made on a big budget and director B Unnikrishnan will be producing it. Interestingly, Unnikrishnan was also one of the producers of ‘Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil’. They are planning to start shooting by the end of January. More details will be officially announced shortly.

Prithviraj is currently working on his directorial debut, Lucifer. His maiden production venture ‘Nine’ aka ‘9’, a sci-fi thriller directed by Jenuse Mohammed is slated to hit screens next month. Kaaliyan, Aadujeevitham and Kalabhavan Shajohn’s directorial debut, ‘Brother’s Day’ are some of his other projects in the pipeline.
