Here’s the first making video of Prabhas’ Saaho!

‘Baahubali’ actor Prabhas is celebrating his birthday today. Social medias are abuzz with wishes for the actor. Colleagues, fans and well wishers across the world are pouring in their wishes. As a treat for his fans, a slight glimpse of his upcoming movie ‘Saaho’ is shown with a making video. The movie directed by Sujeeth is a high octane action thriller, made on an international scale.

The newly released video tracks the numerous works and efforts that the team took while shooting for the action portions in Abu Dhabi. The makers had earlier informed that these stunt sequences will be the movie’s major highlight. If reports are to be believed, a whopping Rs 300 crore is being invested on the film, of which Rs 90 crore is spent on the action sequences alone. Popular stuntman Kenny Bates, who has worked in Hollywood films like Pearl Harbour, Transformers, and Die Hard, is choreographing the stunts in Saaho. The technical crew includes DOP Madhie, composer trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy and VFX supervisor Kamalakannan.

In an attempt to give a pan Indian appeal, the movie actors from various industries as part of its cast. Bollywood diva Shraddha Kapoor is playing the female lead. Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Chunky Pandey, Mandira Bedi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Arun Vijay, Lal and Tinnu Anand are playing prominent roles in the movie. To cash in on Prabhas’ huge popularity, the movie has been planned as a trilingual in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages.

Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati are jointly funding this movie under the banner of UV Creations.

Mammootty is currently in Andhra Pradesh shooting for his new Telugu film, Yatra. The movie directed by Mahi V Raghav is the biopic of former AP Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Shoot for the movie is progressing at a brisk pace. Last day, director Vysakh had visited the sets of Yatra for the discussions of his upcoming film, Madura Raja, with Mammootty. The director was stunned by the huge crowd amidst which the shoot was happening. He shared a photo taken from the location in his social media handle and captioned it as,

Unlike other regular biopics, Yatra is an event based film. It primarily focuses on the time during YSR’s famous three-month-long padayatra in 2003, which was a changing point in his political career. YSR is one of the most popular and revered politicians that the state of Andhra Pradesh has ever seen. He is still regarded as a people’s leader and respected all over. Yatra team is hoping to make the movie as a fitting tribute to the iconic leader.

Apart from Mammootty, the movie also stars Rao Ramesh, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Posani Krishna Murali, Vinod Kumar and Sachin Khedekar. Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devi Reddy are jointly producing the movie under their banner of 70MM Entertainments. It is slated for a grand worldwide release on December 21.

Promotions for Odiyan are on in full swing as the movie gets ready to hit screens in December. Last day, the makers released a couple of new posters; one featuring Mohanlal alone and the other one has him with Manju Warrier. The posters have all been highly impressive and has raised the right amount of curiosity among the audience.

Odiyan directed by Shrikumar Menon is a mass entertainer with fantasy elements in it. Scenarist Harikrishnan has scripted the movie based on the life of odiyans. Mohanlal plays the role of Manikyan, someone who is mastered in odividya. Prakash Raj plays the antagonist. Manoj Joshi, Narain, Innocent, Kailas, Sana Althaf, Siddique and Nandu are also part of the supporting cast.

Its technical crew includes DOP Shaji Kumar, editor Johnkutty, action choreographer Peter Hein, art director Prashanth Madhav and composers M Jayachandran and Sam CS (background score). Mohanlal’s own banner Aashirvad Cinemas is producing the movie. It is slated for a grand release on December 14.

A surprise announcement has been made by superstar Mohanlal today. The actor is teaming up with debutant directors Jibi Joju for a movie titled ‘Ittymaani Made In China’. Antony Perumbavoor will be producing the movie under his abner Aashirvad Cinemas. From the title and the poster, ‘Ittymaani Made In China’ looks like a comedy entertainer. More details are expected to be revealed shortly.

The announcement has come as a big surprise as Mohanlal already has his kitty full. Besides that, he was in talks for some other projects. He is arguably among the most busiest actors in the industry with multiple projects coming up. He recently finished his portions for Odiyan, which is slated for release on December 14. His next to hit screens is the Ranjith directorial Drama, which is releasing on November 1.

Mohanlal’s Tamil film with director KV Anand, also starring Suriya is currently on floors. A couple of schedules is still left for the Prithviraj directorial ‘Lucifer’. ‘Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham’ with Priyadarshan is also set to go on floors by the end of this year. ‘Big Brother’ with Siddique is also in the pipeline.

Tovino Thomas’ kitty is full with several interesting projects. As reported by us earlier, he has signed for a movie with director Jeo Baby, who has previously made critically acclaimed films like ‘2 Penkuttikal’ and ‘Kunju Daivam’. This upcoming movie has been titled as ‘Kilometers and Kilometers’. The team had shot brief portions in Diu and Daman during the release of Theevandi.

Director Jeo Baby has co-scripted the movie with Deepu Pradeep, the writer of ‘Kunjiramayanam’. According to Tovino, it is a humour based entertainer with a strong content. If reports are to be believed, the makers are on the look for a foreign actress to play the female lead. It is tipped to be an unique love story. The lead lady of this movie is someone who arrives from the US to visit India. Tovino will be seen as a ‘naadan’ youth who upholds his family values.

Tovino, who is currently shooting for ‘Ente Ummante Peru’ will be next joining the sets of Salim Ahamed’s ‘And The Oscar Goes To’. The actor has already finished his portions for ‘Lucifer’, in which he plays an extended cameo. Meanwhile, his films ‘Oru Kupprasidha Payyan’ and ‘Maari 2’ are gearing up for release. ‘Kalki’ and ‘Luca’ are his other two projects in the pipeline.

The highly talented playback singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi got married today to mimicry artist Anoop N in the presence of close friends and family members. Their wedding took place between 10.30 AM and 11.30 AM at Vaikom Mahadeva Temple. The couple got engaged on September 10 at their residence, Usha Nivas, in Vaikom. Anoop, who hails from Pala, is an interior designer by profession.

Vijayalakshmi, the visually challenged singer, is loved by music lovers for her unique voice and impeccable rendering. She has sung several hit tracks, not just in Malayalam, but in all the four South Indian languages. She has worked with several top music directors like MM Keeravani, Ouseppachan, Bijibal, Shaan Rahman, Santhosh Narayanan, D Imman and GV Prakash Kumar.

Confirmed: Mammootty to play a dwarf in his next

Mammootty has done several challenging characters in his three decade long career. After all these years, the veteran still manages to amaze with his performances. Of late, it is quite unfortunate that only very few movies are being made that could bring out the terrific actor in him. Seems like one such project is finally coming up for the megastar.

Mammootty is set to team up with director Sohan Seenulal for a new movie in which he will be playing the role of a dwarf. Sohan made his directorial debut in 2011 with Doubles, also starring Mammootty. The movie was a big failure at the box office. Later, they shared screen space in numerous films. When the actor-director duo team up after an eight year long gap, they will be hoping to correct the mistakes and reap success.

PV Shaji Kumar, a proud recipient of Kendra Sahitya Akademi’s Yuva Award and Kerala Sahitya Akademi’s Geeta Hiranyan Award, is scripting this upcoming movie. He has earlier scripted acclaimed movies like Kanyaka Talkies and Take Off (co-writer). The writer has collaborated with Mammootty previously in Puthan Panam, where he penned the dialogues in Kasargod slang.

Post the floods, Malayalam cinema industry is back steadily on feet with the back to back success of films like Theevandi, Varathan and Kayamkulam Kochunni. We are currently on the last lap and some biggies like Drama, Odiyan and 9 are gearing for release. Early next year, the first big clash will be between Nivin Pauly’s Mikhael and Pranav Mohanlal’s Irupathiyonnam Noottandu. Both the films are slated to hit screens during the Republic Day weekend.

Mikhael directed by Haneef Afeni of ‘The Great Father’ (TGF) fame is a family oriented thriller. The movie has Nivin Pauly playing the role of a doctor for the first time in his career. Unni Mukundan is also there in a prominent role. Recently, the makers had released a stylish teaser, which got great response from the viewers. Expectations are huge for the movie as Haneef Adeni’s earlier two works, ‘TGF’ and ‘Abrahaminte Santhathikal’, which he scripted, were huge hits at the box office. Teaming up with a crowd piller like Nivin, Adeni is expected to continue the winning run.

‘Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu’ is Pranav Mohanlal’s second film after he made his debut as a lead actor with ‘Aadhi’. ‘Ramaleela’ fame Arun Gopy is directing the movie. Ever since its announcement, the makers have been tight-lipped about the movie’s genre. Talks within the industry is that Pranav plays the role of a surfer in the movie. The makers had recently travelled to Bali island to shoot the surfing portions. India’s leading action choreographer, Peter Hein is handling the stunts.

Both ‘Mikhael’ and ‘Irupathiyonnam Noottandu’ are exciting films that carry a huge burden of expectations. If things go as per plans, next January, we have a mouth watering clash at the box office.
