Indrajith Sukumaran to star in Ithihasa 2

It has been exactly four years since the release of Ithihasa, the sleeper hit of 2014. The movie featuring a bunch of youngsters emerged commercially successful taking everyone by surprise. Today, on the fourth anniversary of the movie’s release, the makers have announced its sequel with a title poster.

Ithihasa 2 will have Indrajith Sukumaran in the lead role. Binu S, who made his directorial debut with Ithihasa, is helming the sequel as well. While the first part had Shine Tom Chacko, Anusree and Balu Varghese in major roles, the makers are yet to reveal the cast of the new film.

Ithihasa is a fun filled entertainer with some interesting fantasy elements. It’s the story of body swapping between a conservative young software professional girl and an easy-going petty thief. This happens after they unknowingly wear rings that had some magical powers. The sequel’s title poster also has a ring and looks like it will be the continuation of the same story.

More details regarding the cast, crew and when the movie goes on floors are expected to be announced shortly.

The highly anticipated period-flick ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ (ToH) is getting ready for a grand release in November. Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and ‘Dangal’ fame Fathima Sana Sheikh are playing major roles in the movie. The movie’s recently released trailer was met with stupendous response. There were talks about how the quality of visuals match up to Hollywood standards.

A new making video has been released today that shows the kind of massive efforts that have gone behind the making. Majority of the portions are set in the backdrop of sea. The team shot these portions in Malta in highly challenging conditions. In the making video, director Vijay Krishna Acharya, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Fathima Sana Sheikh are seen speaking about their experience shooting for the movie.

ToH is an adaptation of the 1839 novel ‘Confessions of a Thug’. The plot is set in the pre-independence era in the 18th century and has pirates as part of its narrative. The movie is being made on a huge budget by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films. The movie is slated for a grand worldwide release on November 8.

Ever since the superhit success of ‘Sudani From Nigeria’, Soubin Shahir has been getting lot of offers to play lead roles. But the actor has slowed down considerably and has been very choosy of late. As per latest reports, he has committed for director Bhadran’s upcoming movie titled, Ponnum Kurishu. Details regarding the movie’s genre or when it goes on floors are not yet known.

Bhadran is well known for his films like ‘Spadikam’, ‘Iyer The Great’ and ‘Yuvathurki’. His rapport with Mohanlal is quite popular as they have delivered hits like ‘Spadikam’, ‘Uncle Bun’, ‘Olympian Anthony Adam’. His last release ‘Udayon’, was also a Mohanlal starrer, which was back in 2005. In his comeback, the director is planning another film with Mohanlal, which is most likely to start rolling next year. Currently, both the actor and director are caught up with other commitments.

Meanwhile, Soubin is busy shooting for ‘Guppy’ fame John Paul George’s ‘Ambili’. He is also playing the lead in debutant Jithu K Jayan’s ‘Ara Kallan Mukkal Kallan’.

The highly anticipated Dhanush starrer ‘Vada Chennai’ is gearing up for release. The movie which marks his reunion with multiple National award winning director Vetrimaran is all set to hit screens on October 17. The actor’s own banner Wunderbar Films is funding the movie jointly with Lyca Productions. The movie has been censored with an A certificate for its gritty and raw moments. Apparently, the censor board officials have allowed the use of swear words in the movie.

‘Vada Chennai’ is an epic gangster saga that spans different timelines. The lives of people in North Chennai is captured authentically in the film. Dhanush plays the lead role of Anbu. He appears in three different looks and is said to have given one of his career best performances. The actor shares a great rapport with Vetrimaran. They have previously worked together in ‘Polladhavan’ and ‘Aadukalam’. Both the films were widely acclaimed with ‘Aadukalam’ alone bagging six awards at the National level.

‘Vada Chennai’ also has director Ameer playing a very crucial role. Andrea Jeremiah, Aishwarya Rajesh, Samuthirakani, Daniel Balaji Kishore, Karunas, Pawan and Radha Ravi will be seen in other major roles. The project has been planned as a trilogy. 20% portions of the second part has already been shot.

Earlier in the day, the trailer of Mohanlal starrer Odiyan was released in social medias. This 1.27 minute long trailer has some stunning visuals and is loaded with several mass moments to excite the fans. Mohanlal appears in multiple looks in the trailer and it also has glimpses of a few riveting action blocks. The movie promises to be an absolute treat for the fans, who have been waiting eagerly for months. Within a couple of hours, the trailer has gone viral across all social media platforms.

Odiyan directed by VA Shrikumar Menon is a mass entertainer with fantasy elements in it. The movie has Mohanlal playing the role of Manikyan, someone who is mastered in Odividya. National award winner Harikrishnan has scripted the movie based on the life of odiyans. Their stories are popular in Kerala’s folklore. This is the first time a movie is being made based on odiyans, which has raised the curiosity among the audience.

Manju Warrier, Prakash Raj, Manoj Joshi, Narain, Innocent, Kailas, Sana Althaf, Siddique and Nandu are also part of the supporting cast. Its technical crew includes cinematographer Shaji Kumar, editor Johnkutty, action choreographer Peter Hein, art director Prashanth Madhav and composers M Jayachandran and Sam CS (background score).

Post production works are currently progressing at a brisk pace. The movie is slated for a grand release on December 14. Mohnalal’s own banner Aashirvad Cinemas is producing the movie.

Official: Sarkar teaser release date is out!

As the much hyped Vijay starrer ‘Sarkar’ gears up for release, fans have been waiting for long to hear about the teaser release date. The makers have now announced the teaser will be out online on October 19th, 6 PM. The recently released songs have struck a chord with the fans and music lovers alike. Academy award winner AR Rahman is handling the music department.

Sarkar is getting ready for release amidst massive expectations as Vijay’s previous two outings (Thupakki and Kaththi) with director AR Murugadoss were hugely successful. This political thriller has Vijay playing the role of a multi-millionaire techie. Circumstances force him to land in politics. The movie basically discusses about how an ideal government should function.

Sarkar has Keerthy Suresh paired with Vijay. Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar is also there in an important character. Pala Karuppaiah, Radha Ravi, Livingston, Yogi Babu, Prem and many others are also part of the supporting cast. The movie is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on November 6, Diwali day. Kayamkulam Kochunni is all set for a grand release tomorrow (October 11). Going by the screen count, it is most likely to have the biggest ever release for a Malayalam movie. In Kerala alone, the makers are eyeing a whopping 350 plus centres and a whopping 1700 shows on its opening day. Unlike the usual case in Malayalam movies, Kayamkulam Kochunni is getting a simultaneous release in UAE and GCC.

The movie is releasing in a record number of screens in the Middle East. The theatre list has been published by the makers in their official social media handle. As per reports, the movie’s GCC rights have been sold for a huge price. It is said to be the highest ever for a South Indian movie, though the exact figure has not yet been disclosed. Special premiere shows will also be held today (Oct 10), at a few centres.

Kayamkulam Kochunni directed by Rosshan Andrrews is the biopic of legendary highwayman, Kochunni. Nivin Pauly plays the titular role in the movie. Along with Nivin Pauly, the presence of Mohanlal in the cast is the movie’s major selling point. Gokulam Gopalan of Sri Gokulam Films has produced the movie.

Kayamkulam Kochunni is hitting screens tomorrow (October 11) and the whole industry is eagerly looking forward to it. The movie directed by Rosshan Andrrews is the biopic of legendary highwayman Kayamkulam Kochunni. Nivin Pauly plays the titular role in the movie. Along with Nivin Pauly, the presence of Mohanlal in the cast is the movie’s major selling point.

As per a paper ad given by the makers movie will be releasing in over 351 centres in Kerala with a whopping 1700 odd shows on its opening day. If it turns out to true, it will be a new record for the most number of shows in the state. SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which had 1370 shows on its opening day is the current record holder. Since it is releasing in such a huge number of centres, Kayamkulam Kochunni is most likely to register a new record in the opening day collections.

Kayamkulam Kochunni is also having a simultaneous release in the UAE. It will be releasing in around 48 screens in UAE and 34 more the in other parts of GCC. The makers have also arranged a special premiere show toady (Oct 10), 10 PM at Bollywood Cinemas. Middle East is one of the biggest markets of Malayalam movies and Kayamkulam Kochunni is expected to do some solid business there.

The first look poster of her new film ‘Airaa’ was released today in social medias. Sarjun KM, who is well known in the short film circuit for his films, ‘Maa’ and ‘Lakshmi’, is making his directorial debut with this movie.

‘Airaa’ has Nayanthara in a dual role. This is the first time she is playing a dual act in her decade long career.
As per reports, the movie is a pure horror flick that also has a very strong emotional content. Nayanthara committed for the movie after being highly impressed by its subject. She had also watched Sarjun’s short film ‘Maa’ and liked it.

‘Airaa’ is being produced by KJR studios, the banner which also backed the actress’ superhit flick, ‘Aramm’. The movie is set to hit screens for Christmas this year.
