Dileep to team up with Nadirshah for a mass entertainer!

Recently, there was a buzz that Dileep has opted out of ‘Keshu Ee Veedinte Nadhan’, a movie which was supposed to be directed by his close friend Nadrishah. National award winner Sajeev Pazhoor of ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ (TD) fame has scripted the movie. As several theories are floating around about the Dileep exit, Nadirshah has finally come out clearing the airs.

Apparently, the protagonist in ‘Keshu Ee Veedinte Nadhan’ is a 90-year-old. Since Dileep played a nonagenarian in his last release, Kammara Sambhavam, the actor was not interested in playing a similar role once again. After discussing with Nadirshah, Dileep outed out of the role but he is still part of the project as its producer. Another prominent actor will be playing the lead role. Urvashi and Ponnamma Babu are also confirmed in the cast.

Meanwhile, Dileep and Nadirshah have decided to team up for a mass entertainer, on the lines of the director’s earlier films, Amar Akbar Anthony and Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan. Both Dileep and Nadirshah are popular among the masses and they are hoping to deliver a complete commercial entertainer. This movie has been planned to kick-start by early next year.

Dileep is currently busy shooting for ‘Neethi’, directed by B Unnikrishnan. He also has a couple of schedules left for ‘Professor Dinkan’ to be completed. Nadirshah meanwhile will start shooting for his next film in November. The movie titled as ‘Mera Naam Shaji’ has Baiju, Asif Ali and Biju Menon in lead roles.

Kumbalangi Nights starts rolling!

Kumbalangi Nights, the latest from the famed trio of Dileesh Pothan-Syam Pushkaran-Fahadh Faasil went on floors today. Unlike their previous films, Maheshinte Prathikaram and Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, the roles are different this time. Madhu C Narayanan, a former associate of Dileesh Pothan and Aashiq Abu, is making his directorial debut with this movie. Besides scripting, Syam Pushkaran is also producing the movie jointly with Dileesh Pothan and Fahadh Faasil.

Kumbalangi Nights stars Fahadh Faasil, Shane Nigam, Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi and newcomer Mathew Thomas in the lead roles. According to the makers, the movie is a modern family drama set in Kumbalangi, a suburb of the city of Kochi. Shane Nigam, Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi and Mathew Thomas play brothers in the movie. Fahadh Faasil is playing the villain’s role.

The movie’s technical crew includes cinematographer Shyju Khalid, music director Sushin Shyam and editor Saiju Sreedharan. Syam Pushkaran along with Dileesh Pothan have launched a new production house named Working Class Hero and Kumbalangi Nights is their maiden venture. They are funding the movie jointly with Fahadh Faasil’s banner Fahadh Faasil and Friends.

After delivering back to back hits with ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan’, cinephiles have been eagerly looking forward to Nadirshah’s next. There was a buzz that he would be teaming with Dileep soon, but the project has been put on hold for now. Nadirshah’s new film has been titled as ‘Mera Naam Shaji’ and it has Asif Ali, Biju Menon and Baiju playing the leads. Like the director’s earlier films, this upcoming one will also be a complete entertainer.

‘Mera Naam Shaji’ is the story of three people named Shaji from different parts of Kerala. While Baiju plays the Shaji from Trivandrum, Asif Ali is the Shaji from Ernakulam and Biju Menon’s character is from Kozhikode. Nikhila Vimal has been signed as the female lead. Veteran actor Sreenivasan will also been seen in a crucial role. The movie is scripted by Dileep, who had earlier directed the movie ‘Kadhayile Nayika’.

‘Mera Naam Shaji’ is planned to go on floors from the second week of November. Kozhikode, Trivandrum and Ernakulam will be the major locations. More details regarding the other cast and crew are expected to be officially announced very shortly.

Mammootty starrer Oru Kuttanadan Blog is all set for release this Friday (September 14). The makers have released a new song today featuring Sunny Wayne, who plays a cameo role in the movie. The multi-talented Vineeth Sreenivasan has sung the track, lyrics for which is penned by Rafeeq Ahamed.

From its promos and song, Oru Kuttanadan Blog looks super impressive and gives the vibes of a colourful entertainer for the families. Noted scenarist Sethu makes his directorial debut with this movie. Set in the Kuttanadan village of Krishnapuram, the movie has Mammootty playing a big brother like role. Anu Sithara, Raai Laxmi and Shamna Kasim play the three female leads.

Jacob Gregory, Shaheen Siddique, Vivek Gopan, Sanju Sivaram and Jude Anthany Joseph, Nedumudi Venu, Siddique, Vineeth Kumar, Lalu Alex, Thesni Khan, Nandan Unni and Sohan Seenulal comprise the huge supporting cast. ‘Idea Star Singer’ fame Sreenath Sivasankaran handles the music department.

Dulquer Salmaan confirms signing his second Telugu film

After carving a niche for himself in Mollywood, Dulquer Salmaan is currently in the process of gaining a foothold in other industries. He is already a popular star in Tamil and this year he made his debut in Telugu and Hindi as well. His Telugu film, Mahanati, the biopic of legendary actress Savitri was a huge success and Dulquer’s performance was widely appreciated. The actor has now revealed that he has signed for a new movie in Telugu.

In a recent interview to a popular English daily, Dulquer informed that he has signed for a movie in Telugu and a couple more in Malayalam. Though the actor did not divulge any details, it is said that his next in Telugu will be with Telugu superstar Venkatesh. Unlike the movies that he has been doing so far, this upcoming one is said to be a war epic film.

Reportely, a popular production house based in Tollywood will be bankrolling the movie and they have hired a newcomer to helm this epic film. Apparently, Dulquer and Venkatesh have already met a couple of times to discuss about the script. An official announcement is expected to be made very shortly.

Meanwhile, Dulquer has already started shooting for his new Hindi film ‘The Zoya Factor’. The movie which has him starring alongside Sonam Kapoor is based on Anuja Chauhan’s 2008 best seller novel of the same name. In South, Dulquer has ‘Oru Yamandan Premakadha in Malayalam, and ‘Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithaal’ (KKKA) and ‘Vann’ coming up in Tamil. KKKA, a rom-com directed by debutant Desingh Periyasamy will be his next to hit screens.

As we already know, Mohanlal is playing a major role alongside Suirya in his upcoming movie directed by KV Anand. Second schedule of the movie commenced today in Chennai. Taking a break from the Prithviraj directorial ‘Lucifer’, Mohanlal joined the team in Chennai today. While Suriya is seen in a stylish new avatar, that reminds of a high profile officer, Mohanlal appears in the same bearded look from the earlier schedule.

Suriya 37 (working title) has a massive star cast, one of the biggest that Tamil cinema has seen in recent years. Besides Suriya and Mohanlal, the movie also has Arya, Boman Irani, Sayyeshaa and Samuthirakani in major roles. Telugu actor Allu Sirish was also initially part of the cast, but he later opted out due to date issues.

Director KV Anand has scripted the movie jointly with famous novelist Pattukottai Prabhakar. This yet-to-be titled movie is touted to be an action packed thriller. The makers have planned to shoot the movie in over ten different countries. First schedule was held in London in June, where all the major actors participated.

After the brief ongoing schedule in Chennai, the team will be flying next to Delhi and later to Kulu Manali. Lyca Productions is funding this big budget movie. Its technical crew includes KV Anand’s regular composer Harris Jayaraj, cinematographer Abhinandan Ramanujam and ace editor Anthony.

The second schedule of Suriya’s upcoming movie with KV Anand commenced today in Chennai. In the sets, the actor was spotted sporting a stylish new look, that reminds of a high profile officer. A few location stills have gone viral in social medias by now. Speculations have already started that this is possibly the sequel of Suriya-KV Anand duo’s earlier film, Ayan, in which the actor becomes a customs officer in the end. However, the makers have not yet given a word regarding the same.

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, who is playing a crucial role in the movie, also joined the team today. Shoot is currently progressing in SSN College, Chennai. Tovino Thomas’ latest release Theevandi is doing excellent business in all the release centres. After a great opening weekend, the movie still continues to run with packed audiences. Most theatres are organizing special late night shows to accommodate the crowd. Theevandi’s run heaves a sight of big relief as the Malayalam film industry was brought to a standstill by the floods.

Last day, director Shrikumar Menon of Odiyan fame took to social media to congratulate Tovino on the movie’s success. He tweeted,

Congratulations tovino. Heating Great reviews and box office success stories of theevandi.. your March has started to where you deserve and belong. God bless Brother.

In his reply, Tovino thanked the director and also added that he is eagerly waiting for Odiyan’s release.
It is heartening to see people from within the industry sharing such good rapport.

Theevandi is directed by debutant TP Fellini and scripted by Vini Viswa Lal of ‘Second Show’ and ‘Koothara’ fame. The movie tells the story of a chain smoker and also has elements of political satire in it. Social media response has largely been positive and the word of mouth has worked for the movie. Critics have also rated the movie as a clean entertainer for the families. After a dull Onam season following the floods, Theevandi is bringing back the family audience to theatres.

Singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi gets engaged to mimicry artist Anoop

The highly talented playback singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi got engaged last day in a private ceremony attended by close friends and family members. She exchanged rings with Anoop N, an interior designer from Pala. The engagement ceremony took place at Vijayalakshmi’s home, Usha Nivas, in Vaikom.

Anoop, who is also a mimicry artist, had approached Vijayalakshmi’s family with the proposal two years ago. Their marriage will be held at Vaikom Mahadeva Temple on October 22. Many popular names from the South Indian film industry are expected to attend the wedding.

Vijayalakshmi, the visually impaired singer, is loved by music lovers for her unique voice and impeccable rendering. She has sung several hit tracks, not just in Malayalam, but in all the four South Indian languages. Last year, she had called off her wedding with an NRI Malayali after some unacceptable demands by the groom’s side.

Not one to go down, Vijayalakshmi set a new world record by playing 67 songs with the Gayathriveena instrument in a five-hour-long marathon concert.
