Kayamkulam Kochunni is gearing up to hit screens. The movie directed by Rosshan Andrrews stars Nivin Pauly in the titular role. Bobby and Sanjay have scripted the movie based on the life of Kochunni, a legendary highwayman who was active in Travancore region during the 18th century. Superstar Mohanlal is also there in an extended cameo role in the movie.

Mohanlal plays the role of Ithikkara Pakki, who is considered as a predecessor to Kochunni. Myth has it that Pakki was the first legendary Robin Hood of Kerala; he and Kochunni were contemporaries. It was Pakki who started the unique style of robbing, which was later continued by Kochunni. Mohanlal came into the movie well after shoot commenced. Expectations went sky-high as soon as he joined the team.

According to writer Sanjay, Mohanlal was chosen to play Ithikkara Pakki as the character demanded an extraordinary actor like him. Reportedly, the actor has performed some highly risky stunts very effortlessly. Location stills of Mohanlal in the Pakki look went viral in social medias. The actor sports a rugged bearded look and an unique westernized costume style. In one of the location stills, the 57-year-old star can be seen lifting one leg to more than 90 degrees with east, which speaks volumes about his agility and flexibility.

According to the makers, the combination scenes between Mohanlal and Nivin Pauly will be the movie’s biggest highlight. Apart from them, the movie also stars Sunny Wayne, Shine Tom Chacko, Priya Anand, Manikandan Achari, Sunil Sukhada, Babu Antony, Aneesh G Menon, Amit Chakalakkal and Kannada actress Ashwini.

The technical crew of Kayamkulam Kochunni boasts of some big names like Binod Pradhan, Nirav Shah, multiple national award winning editor Sreekar Prasad and renowned sound designer PM Satheesh. Gokulam Gopalan is producing this big budget movie under the banner of Sri Gokulam Films.

The long wait for Odiyan is coming to an end this October. The movie, which is currently in the post-production phase, is unarguably one of the most awaited Malayalam movies in recent years. Teasing the audience’s patience, the makers have been releasing posters and teasers in regular intervals. A stunning new poster was unveiled today through Mohanlal’s official Facebook page.

A fierce looking Mohanlal can be seen along with a herd of bullocks. The connection between bullocks and odiyans are very popular in Kerala’s folklore. Odiyan, directed by VA Shrikumar Menon is based on the lives of odiyans, whose stories are popular in Kerala’s folklore. Odiyans are people who practice odividya, which is a kind of black magic. National award winner Harikrishnan has scripted the movie. This is the first time a movie is being based on odiyans, which has naturally raised the curiosity among the audience.

According to the makers, Odiyan is a mass entertainer with elements of fantasy and magical realism.
Mohanlal, Prakash Raj and Manju Warrier play the major roles. Narain, Innocent, Kailas, Sana Althaf, Siddique and Nandu are also part of the supporting cast. Its technical crew includes cinematographer Shaji Kumar, editor Johnkutty, action choreographer Peter Hein, art director Prashanth Madhav and composers M Jayachandran and Sam CS (background score).

Antony Perumbavoor is producing Odiyan under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. The movie is scheduled for a grand release on October 11.

Sivakarthikeyan starrer Seemaraja is gearing up to hit screens this coming September. The movie touted to be a rural mass flick is eagerly awaited by the Tamil cinema audience. Here we list ten reasons to wait for the movie.

1) Seemaraja is directed by Ponram, marking his third time collaboration with Sivakarthikeyan after the blockbusters, Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan. Just like their previous films, Seemaraja is also touted to be a rural mass-comedy entertainer.

2) The hit combo of Sivakarthikeyan and Soori are coming together once again. They have previously acted together in
Rajani Murugan, Maan Karate, Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam,

5) Simran, one of the leading heroines of her time, is playing a negative role in Seemaraja. It is said to be one of the most powerful roles the actress has played in her career yet.

6) The hot and happening Keerthy Suresh is also there in a cameo role in Seemaraja. It is her second film with Sivakarthikeyan after Remo.

7) Seemaraj’s supporting cast includes Malayali actor Lal, Napoleon, KS Ravikumar, Motta Rajendran, Sathish, Yogi Babu and Manobala among others.

8) D Imman is handling the music department in Seemaraja. The composer is looking for a hattrick hit as his previous collaborations with Sivakarthikeyan and Ponram for Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan were hugely successful. Varan Varan Seemaraja, the first single from the movie has already emerged as a hit among the music lovers.

9) Baasubramaniem, who cranked the camera for Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan, is the DOP for Seemaraja as well.

10) National award winner Vivek Harshan, who did the cuts the camera for Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan, is also editing this upcoming movie.

All this makes Seemaraja a movie to look forward to. Expectations are huge for the movie, which is evident from the fact that it’s satellite rights were acquired by market leader Sun TV for a record price. The movie’s grand audio launch has been planned to be held on August 3 in Madurai.

As informed earlier by us, the official trailer of Mamta Mohandas starrer Neeli has been released today in social medias. Megastar Mammootty released the trailer through his Facebook page and wished the team all success. Neeli, directed by debutant Althaf Rahman is a horror mystery thriller.

Unlike other Indian film industries, horror films are a rarity in Malayalam cinema. Prithviraj’s Ezra was the lasted noted horror movie made in Malayalam. Neeli looks promising from its trailer and songs. Horror movie lovers can expect to see a quality film. The movie is scripted jointly by newcomers Riyas Marathu and Muneer Mohammadunni.

The title Neeli is a slight cue to Kalliyankattu Neeli, a very popular ghost story in Kerala. A horror movie of the same name was made way back in 1979. From the trailer, we gather that the plot is set in a place called Kalliyankattu. The core plot evolves as a girl child goes missing.

Along with Mamta Mohandas, Neeli also stars Anoop Menon in a crucial role as a paranormal investigator. Baburaj, Zinil Zainudeen and ‘Marimayam’ fame Sreekumar are also part of the movie’s cast. Its technical crew inlcudes cinematographer Manoj Pillai, composer Sharreth and editor Sajan.

Dr Sundar Menon is producing Neeli under the banner of Sun Ads and Film Productions. The movie is all set to hit screens on August 10.

Bobby and Sanjay have scripted the movie which has Nivin Pauly playing the role of legendary highway man Kochunni. As informed earlier by the makers, first song from the movie has been released today in social medias.

Titled as ‘Kalariyadvum Chuvadinazhakum’, this romantic number is sung by Vijay Yesudas and Shreya Ghoshal. Gopi Sunder has composed the song and Shobin Kannangattu has penned the lyrics. Nivin Pauly and Priya Anand feature in the song video.

Gokulam Gopalan of Sri Gokulam Films has invested a whopping budget of over Rs 40 crores for the movie. Reports suggest that the movie will be releasing on August 15 in over 300 centres across Kerala. Meanwhile, the makers are busy promoting the movie. Contrary to the usual trend in Malayalam cinema, the makers of Kochunni have been investing heavily on promotions to publicize the movie to a wider audience.

Dulquer Salmaan’s debut Hindi movie Karwaan, in which he co-stars with Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar, is all set for release this Friday (August 3). The movie is having a wide release across the country with a good number of scenes in Dulquer’s home state, Kerala. Last day, the makers had arranged a preview show for selected invitees. Reviews after the preview show have been unanimously positive. Most of the critics have particularly praised Dulquer’s performance.

Karwaan marks the directorial debut of actor/theatre personality Akarsh Khurana. The movie traces the story of three people who are on a journey from Bangalore to Kochi via Ootty. According to the makers, Karwaan is a slice of life kind movie with prominence to realistic humour. The characters played by Irrfan Khan, Mithila Palkar and Dulquer are from different walks of life who come together at one juncture of their lives.

Bejoy Nambiar has penned the movie’s story while Akarsh Khurana has written the screenplay jointly with Adhir Bhatt. Hussain Dalal, the dialogue writer of hit films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and 2 States, has written dialogues for this movie as well. The movie stars Arvind Swamy, Indrajith, Sundeep Kishan, Shriya Saran and ‘Meesaya Murukku’ fame Aathmika in the lead roles. This two minute long trailer is highly intriguing and the movie looks like a dark thriller, much like the director’s debut film Dhuruvangal 16.

23-year-old Karthick Naren took the Tamil cinema audience by surprise with his debut movie itself. The movie starring Rahman in the lead was smashing hit which went on to be talked about all across the South. So naturally, expectations are high for Naragasooran. The movie is touted to be a dark and emotionally intense suspense thriller.

Malayali actor Indrajith, who is making a comeback to Tamil cinema after a long gap is playing a police officer’s role in the movie.

Confirmed: Vysakh’s next after Madura Raja is a mass entertainer with Nivin Pauly

After a two-year-long gap, director Vysakh is making his comeback with the Mammootty starrer Madura Raja. The movie which is the spin-off on Mammootty’s character from Pokkiriraja, also directed by Vysakh, is set to go on floors from August 9. Udhayakrishna is scripting the movie and Nelson Ipe is producing it. The makers have planned to shoot the movie for over 125 days in a single schedule.

Meanwhile, Vysakh and Udayakrishna will be simultaneously working on another project with Nivin Pauly as the lead. Vysakh and Nivin are teaming up for the first time and expectations are already on the higher side. As per trustworthy reports, it is a big budget movie planned on a wide canvas. Vaishaka Rajan will be producing the movie under his banner Vaishaka Films.

Udhayakrishna has reportedly scripted it as an action packed romantic film set in the backdrop of a campus. Vysakh has pinned high hopes on this movie as this is the first time an actor from the younger generation is doing a full on mass-action flick. The movie will start rolling early next year after the completion of Madura Raja.

The title and first look poster of Mammootty’s upcoming movie with Vysakh was unveiled last day in social medias. The movie titled as Madura Raja is the spin-off of Mammootty’s character from his blockbuster film, Pokkiri Raja. Udhayakrishna, who last teamed up with Vysakh for the mega blockbuster Pulimurugan, has scripted Madura Raja as well.

Madura Raja has a massive star cast led by Mammootty and the three heroines – Anusree, Shamna Kasim and Mahima Nambiar. Popular Tamil actor Jai is also playing a prominent role in the movie. Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu, well known for his negative roles in Pulimurugan and Aadhi, will be playing the antagonist in this movie as well.

Madura Raja’s elaborate supporting cast includes Nedumudi Venu, RK Suresh, Vijayaraghavan, Salim Kumar, Aju Varghese, Dharmajan Blogatty, Biju Kuttan, Siddique, MR Gopakumar, Kailas, Bala, Manikuttan, Noby, Baiju Ezhupunna, Balachandran Chullikadu, Jayan Cherthala, Santhosh Keezhattoor and many others.

Vysakh-Udhayakrishna combo have retained the same technical team from Pulimurugan for Madura Raja. Cinematographer Shaji Kumar, composer Gopi Sundar and editor John Kutty form the crew. Fight sequences will be choreographed by Peter Hein, one of India’s leading stunt masters.

According to Vysakh, Madura Raja be a more racy and technically advanced movie than Pokkiri Raja. The makers have planned to shoot the movie for around 120 says in a single schedule. This big budget movie is being produced by Nelson Ipe.
