Kunchacko Boban and Ratheesh Balakrishnan to reunite

After the success of Nna Thaan Case Kodu, Kunchacko Boban is set to reunite with director Ratheesh Balakrishna Poduval. As per reports, their new film will be a psychological comedy with the star cast also including Aavesham fame Sajin Gopu and Rajesh Madhavan. Listin Stephen of Magic Frames banner is producing the film, which is expected to go on floors later this year.

Ratheesh, who also directed Android Kunjappan and Kanakam Kamini Kalaham, is now looking forward to the release of Sureshinteyum Sumalathayudeyum Hridayahariyaya Pranayakatha. The is a spin-off on Rajesh Madhavan and Chithra Nair’s characters Sureshan and Sumalatha from Nna Thaan Case Kodum. Kunchacko Boban is also part of the film in a cameo role. The film is set for release on May 16

Kunchacko Boban’s next release will be Grrr, a comedy in which he plays a drunkard who gets caught in a lion’s den. The film directed by Ezra-fame Jay K also stars Suraj Venjaramoodu and Shruti Ramachandran. It is slated for release in June. Kunchacko Boban also has a film with debutant Jithu Ashraf coming up. Shahi Kabir of Joseph and Nayattu fame is scripting it.

Mammootty’s Turbo trailer is a viral hit in social media

The trailer of Mammootty’s much anticipated Turbo dropped last night. The 2.14 minute long trailer has already got 23 lakh views within 13 hours of its release. Packed with some stunning action and mass moments, the teaser gives a clear idea of what to expect from the film. Mammootty plays Turbo Jose, a larger than life mass character who locks horns with Vetrivel, an influential figure, played by Kannada actor Raj B Shetty. The trailer gives glimpses of around 5-6 action set pieces and along with that, Christo Xavier’s music is one of the major highlights.

The trailer also features Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum actress Anjana Jayaprakash, Bindu Panicker, Dileesh Pothan, Shabareesh Varma, Basil, Rahul Rajagopal and Adarsh Sukumaran among others. The film is directed by Vysakh, who has earlier collaborated with Mammootty in Pokkiri Raja and its sequel Madhura Raja.

Midhun Manuel Thomas has scripted Turbo, which has Vishnu Sarma as the DOP and Shameer Muhammed as the editor. Shameer’s racy editing ensures the trailer packs a punch. Produced by Mammootty Kampany and presented by the star’s son, Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, the film is all set to storm screens worldwide from May 23.

Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil trailer out; Prithviraj and Basil promise a hilarious ride

Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil, starring Basil Joseph and Prithviraj, is up for release on May 16. The makers launched its trailer last day in Dubai. The film directed by Vipin Das, who last made the blockbuster Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, looks super promising. The trailer hints that the film will be high on comedy, which is centered around a marriage function.

While Basil plays the protagonist, Prithviraj plays a character named Anandan, who has some negative touches. Anaswara Rajan plays Basil’s pair, while Nikhila Vimal is cast opposite Prithviraj. Yogi Babu, Jagadish, Rekha, Baiju, Kottayam Ramesh, Irshad, PP Kunhikrishnan, Siju Sunny and Saaf also part of the film, which is scripted by Deepu Pradeep.

Thala Ajith’s next Good Bad Ugly begins

If reports are to believed, Ajith’s new film Good Bad Ugly has started rolling in Hyderabad. The film is directed by Adhik Ravichandran, who last made the blockbuster, Mark Antony. The gangster comedy starred Vishal and SK Suryah as the leads.

Good Bad Ugly was announced in March as a major surprise. The film has Devi Sri Prasad as the music director, Abinandan Ramanujam ae the DOP, Vijay Velukutty as the editor and Supreme Sundar as the action choreographer. However, the makers haven’t divulged any details about the cast. The film backed by Mythri Movie Makers is reportedly eyeing Pongal release in January, 2025

Biju Menon-Asif Ali film Thalavan release date is here

Asif Ali and Biju Menon’s new cop film Thalavan is gearing up for release. The makers have announced May 24 as the release date. Directed by Jis Joy, the film is an investigation thriller in which the two actors play police officers in different ranks. It is centred around the ego clash between them.

Asif and Biju Menon have worked together in several memorable films in the past, including Ordinary, Anuraga Karikkin Vellam, Pakida, and Vellimoonga. Their reunion is one of the USPs of Thalavan. It is scripted by Sharath Perumbavoor and Anand Thevarakkattu. It is produced by Arun Narayan and Sijo Sebastian under the banner Arun Narayan Productions in association with London Studios.

The film also stars Dileesh Pothen, Anusree, Miya, Kottayam Nazeer, Shankar Ramakrishnan, Joji K John, Dinesh, Anuroop, Nandan Unni and Bilas. Sharan Velayudhan is handling the cinematography and Sooraj ES is the editor

Much-awaited Turbo trailer to be out shortly

As Mammootty’s hugely hyped Turbo is set for release on May 23, the makers have decided to organise a grand trailer launch event on May 12 in Dubai. Fans are heavily excited about the trailer, which promises to be an action-packed feast.

Turbo is directed by Vysakh, who has earlier collaborated with Mammootty in Pokkiri Raja and its sequel Madhura Raja.

Fahadh Faasil and SJ Suryah join forces for a gangster comedy

Two of South India’s best actors, Fahadh Faasil and SJ Suryah are teaming up for a Malayalam gangster comedy. The latter is making his Malayalam debut with this film to be directed by Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey fame Vipin Das. Badusha Cinemas is producing the film, which will reportedly begin in August. The makers are planning to release it in other languages as well.

Fahadh, who was last seen in the blockbuster Aavesham (currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video), is now working on Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira. Directed by Althaf Salim, the film, a rom-com, has Kalyani Priyadarshan as the heroine.

SJ Suryah on the other hand is part of several big films like Indian 2, Game Changer, Raayan and Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2. News about his combination with Fahadh Faasil has already excited cinephiles. Further updates regarding the project is eagerly as awaited by many.

Sangeeth Sivan passes away

Director Sangeeth Sivan passed away on Wednesday. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Mumbai. The eldest of the Sivan siblings, Sangeeth is known for helming some memorable films in Malayalam and Hindi. He is best known for directing Vyooham (1990), Yodha (1992) and Kyaa Kool Hai Hum (2005) and Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 (2013).

Sangeeth made his directorial debut with Vyooham, which starred Raghuvaran. His second film Yodha is a hugely popular film even today. Many regard the Mohanlal-starrer as one of the finest films ever made in Malayalam. Sangeeth also collaborated with Mohanlal in Nirnayam and Gandharvam.

Sangeeth directed his first Hindi film, Zor, with Sunny Deol. His last release the Zee5 Original Hindi series Bhram, headlined by Kalki Koechlin and Bhumika Chawla. The director also had plans to remake the Malayalam blockbuster Romancham in Hindi.

Sangeeth’s demise has left a huge void in the industry. Many celebs from across languages have poured in their condolences for the family.

Blockbuster film Aavesham set for OTT release

Fahadh Faasil’s sensational blockbuster Aavesham is set for its OTT release on Amazon Prime Video on May 9. The film directed by Romancham-fame Jithu Madhavan has already grossed around Rs 150 crores from the worldwide box office. As per trade reports, it is now the fourth highest grossing Malayalam film in Kerala after 2018, Aadujeevitham and Pulimurugan. It recently pipped Manjummel Boys’ collections from Kerala. As of now, Aavesham has earned Rs 72.60 crores from its 25 days run in Kerala.

Aavesham’s massive success holds significance because it had a direct clash with Vineeth Sreenivasan’s multistarrer Varshangalkku Shesham, another hugely hyped film. Unni Mukundan’s Jai Ganesh, also released on the same day making it a three way clash at the Kerala box office this Vishu.

Aavesham is a gangster comedy about a three college going students and an eccentric gangster named Ranga. Along with Fahadh, the main cast also includes Hipster, Sajin Gopu, Mithun Jai Shankar and Roshan Shanavas. The film has got a thunderous reception from the audience, especially the youth. Sushin Shyam’s chartbuster music has also been widely celebrated.

Wait ends for Mohanlal’s directorial debut Barroz

The long wait for superstar Mohanlal’s maiden directorial, Barroz has finally come to an end. After several postponings, the makers have now confirmed September 12 as the release date. The film, which also stars Mohanlal in the titular role, is a fantasy adventure made for a 3D viewing experience.

Barroz is reportedly set against the backdrop of the maritime history of Portugal, Spain, India and Africa. The film tells the story of Barroz, a mythical figure who was the gaurdian of Vasco da Gama’s valuable treasures for 400 years until his true heir comes back to protect it. The film has several foreign actors as part of the cast. In the crew, Santosh Sivan handles the camera and music is by child prodigy Lydian Nadaswaram. Production design is by Santhosh Raman and edits are handled by B Ajith Kumar.

With Barroz arriving for Onam in September, Mohanlal will have back to back releases. His ongoing film with director Tharun Moorthy, which is tentatively titled L 360, is slated for release in October during the Pooja season.
