Mammootty’s action-packed entertainer Turbo on the way

Turbo, Mammootty’s highly anticipated film, is set to storm screens on May 23. The film was initially scheduled to release on June 13, but the makers have preponed it in a bid to cash in on the holiday season. With Mammootty back in a full-length mass role after a gap, the film has high expectations among the fans and the common audiennce. The megastar’s Mammootty Kampany is producing the film and it is presented by his son, Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films.

Turbo is directed by Vysakh, who has earlier worked with Mammootty in Pokkiri Raja and its sequel Madhura Raja. The director is expected to stick to his strengths, which is action. Some location stills leaked online also suggest that the film will have some high-voltage fight scenes.

Midhun Manuel Thomas has scripted Turbo. It has Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum actress Anjana Jayaprakash as the female lead. Niranjana Anoop, Kannada star Raj B Shetty and Telugu actor Sunil are also part of the main cast. Cinematographer Vishnu Sarma, composer Christo Xavier and editor Shameer Muhammed and art director Shajie Naduvil form the technical department.

Tovino-Dijo Jose Antony film Pallichattambi to begin next year

In June 2019, it was announced that Tovino Thomas and director Dijo Jose Antony would be teaming up for a film titled Pallichattambi. However, there has been no further update about the film since then. Recently, during the promotions of his upcoming release Malayalee From India, Dijo revealed that Pallichattambi will start shoot from January 2025.

Pallichattambi scripted by S Suresh Babu and produced by Gokulam Gopalan of Sree Gokulam Movies. In its announcement poster, Tovino was seen sporting a handlebar moustache. The poster came with the tagline ‘An Epic of a Crusader’. The film wad announced with Jakes Bejoy as the music director, Sujith Sarang as the DOP and his brother Sreejith Sarang as the editor. It’s not yet known if the same technical team will be retained.

Tovino is currently looking forward to the release of Nadikar, directed by Lal Jr. The film, which also stars Soubin and Bhavana, has Tovino as a superstar. The actor is also reprisibg his character Jathin Ramdas from Lucifer in its sequel L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. Ajayante Randam Moshanam is his other biggie in the line. Tovino is playing a triple role in this film eyeing release by the end of this year.

Shoot for Mohanlal’s new film, tentatively titled L 360, had started recently. Tharun Moorthy, known for directing Operation Java and Saudi Vellakka, is making the film. A recent location still of Mohanlal is now doing the rounds on social media. The actor looks like a typical common man in his bearded, mundu-clad look. Shoot is currently underway in Moolamattom.

L 360 has Mohanlal playing a driver’s role. It is scripted by KR Sunil. The film has Shobana as the female lead. She is reuniting with Mohanlal after several years. They have earlier acted together in several films like Pavithram, Manichithrathazhu, Nadodikkattu, Vellanakalude Nadu, Thenmavin Kombathu and Mambazhakkalam.

L 360, which has music by Jakes Bejoy, also stars Farhaan Faasil, Binu Pappu, Aarsha Chandhini Baiju and Aanandam actor Thomas Mathew. The film is produced by M Renjith under the banner of Rejaputhra Visual Media.

Mohanlal next has Lucifer’s second part, Empuraan, Barroz, Vrushabha and Rambaan in his kitty.

New release date announced for Turbo

It was earlier announced that the Mammootty-starrer Turbo will hit screens on June 16. The makers have now decided to push it ahead a bit. The film will now release on May 23. It is directed by Vysakh and written by Midhun Manuel Thomas.

Turbo stars Pachvum Athbutha Vilakkum actress Anjana Jayaprakash as the heroine. Kannada star Raj B Shetty and Telugu actor Sunil are also part of the cast. Shabareesh Varma and Johnny Antony also essay important roles.

Turbo marks Mammootty’s reunion with Vysakh after Pokkiriraja and Madhuraraja. Like their earlier films, the new is also expected to be a high-octane mass entertainer. Mammootty is said to be playing a larger than life character named Turbo Jose in it. The film has Vishnu Sarma as the DOP, Bramayugam fame Christo Xavier as the music director and Shameer Muhammed as the editor.

Turbo is the fifth production venture of Mammootty’s banner, Mammootty Kampany after Rorschach, Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, Kaathal and Kannur Squad

The makers of Dhyan Sreenivasan-starrer Dhyan Sreenivasan have announced the film’s release date. It will hit screens on May 24. Vinay Jose is directing the film and Dhyan is scripting it. The makers announced the release date with a series of posters, which had a comic book touch.

Cop Uncle is touted to be a fun entertainer. It also stars Shritha Sivadas, Saiju Kurup Vasisht Umesh, Johny Antony, Jaffer Idukki, and Aju Varghese. It is produced by Good Angle Films in association with Kria Film Corp and Nextel Studios.

Dileep plans to direct a big-budget entertainer

In a recent chat with Onlookers Media, Dileep shared about his plans to turn a director. The actor, who started his career in cinema as an assistant director, has zeroed in on a subject for his maiden directorial. He also added that it will be an entertainer made on a big scale. However, Dileep said that the project is still in the early stages and is unsure when he can take it on floors.

Dileep was recently seen in Pavi Care Taker, which hit the screens on April 26. Directed by Vineeth Kumar, the film is a fun enteratiner in which Dileep plays the role of a care taker in an apartment complex. The film, which is the first distribution venture of FEUOK, has opened to decent response.

Dileep’s 150th film was launched recently. Newcomer Binto Stephen is directing D 150 and Sharis Mohammed is scriting it. The film is produced by Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames. The makers have already confirmed it as an Onam release.

Besides this, Dileep has Bha Bha Bha coming up. The film is to be directed by debutant Dhananjay Shankar. Scripted by actors Fahim Safar and Noorin Shereef, the film also stars Dhyan Sreenivasan and Vineeth Sreenivasan.

Atif Aslam to debut in Malayalam with Shane Nigam’s Haal

Popular Pakisthani singer Atif Aslam known for his Hindi chartbusters such as ‘Aadat’, ‘Woh Lamhe’, ‘Pehli Nazar Mein’, ‘Tera Hone Laga Hoon’ etc is set to make his Malayalam debut with Shane Nigam’s new film, Haal. It is reported that the singer has already recorded a song for the movie under debutant music director Nadhagopan V’s composition. Mridul Meer and Neeraj Kumar have written the song lyrics. This is Atif’s return to Indian film industry after a hiatus of almost seven years after supreme court lifted the ban on Pakisthani artists performing in India.

Haal is directed by Prasanth Vijayakumar under the banner of JVJ Productions. Nishad Koya, known for his films such as Ordinary, Madhura Naranga, Thopil Joppan and Shikari Sambhu has written the film as a musical love story. It has cinematography by Karthik Muthukumar, art department handled by Prasanth Madhav and editing by Sreejith Sarang.

Haal, touted as one of Shane Nigam’s biggest films, will begin shoot in Kozhikode by the first week of May. The makers have also planned to shoot it in Mysore and Jordan. The film is set to be released simultaneously in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada languages.

Rahman and Dhyan Sreenivasan team up for Omar Lulu’s next

Director Omar Lulu’s new film was launched recently in Ezhupunna. Rahman and Dhyan Sreenivasan are playing the leads in the film, which is touted to be a comedy entertainer. It is scripted by Sarang Jayaprakash, who earlier co-wrote Omar’s films, Oru Adaar Love and Dhamaka.

The upcoming film has Sheelu Abraham and Aradhya Ann as the female leads. Bala, Babu Antony, Bibin George, Anson Paul, Senthil Krishna, Tini Tom, Harishree Ashokan and Mallika Sukumaran also star in it. The film has Alby as the DOP and William Francis as the composer. It is produced Abraham Mathew under the banner of Abaam Movies.

This will be the first time Dhyan and Rahman are acting together. While the former hasn’t been active in Malayalam lately, Dhyan has a slew of projects lined up. His immediate release will be Malayalee From India, in which he stars alongside Nivin Pauly. Ideem Minnalum, Swargathile Katturumbu, Cop Uncle, Ba Ba Ba, and Kudumbasreeyum Kunjadum are some of the projects in his kitty.

Rahman, last seen in Malayalam in the bilingual thriller Samara, also has his maiden web series coming up in the language. Titled 1000+ Babies, it is directed by Najeem Koya and also stars Neena Gupta. August Cinema is producing the series, which will stream on Disney+ Hotstar.

Fahadh Faasil’s latest release Aavesham has successfully entered the Rs 100 crore club of Malayalam. As per trade trackers, it is the fourth Malayalam film this year after Premalu, Manjummel Boys and Aadujeevitham to achieve this phenomenal feat. This is also Fahadh’s first 100 crore film from Malayalam.

Aavesham directed by Romancham fame Jithu Madhavan got released on April 11. It clashed with Vineeth Sreenivasan’s multistarrer film, Varshangalkku Shesham and Unni Mukundan’s Jai Ganesh, but still managed to emerge as the Vishu winner at the box office. The film, a fun mass entertainer, has Fahadh playing a gangster’s character named Ranga. Sajin Gopu and three newcomers, Hipzster, Mithun Jai Shankar and Roshan Shanavas play the other main roles. The film is centred around Ranga and the three boys.

Fahadh Faasil’s wife, actor Nazriya Nazim and director Anwar Rasheed have jointly produced the film, which has Sameer Thahir as the cinematographer, Vivek Harshan as the editor and Sushin Shyam as the music director.

Mohanlal and Shobhana reunite for L 360

Mohanlal and Shobhana are coming together after several years for a new film directed by Tharun Moorthy of Operation Java and Saudi Vellakka fame. The two have earlier acted together in several films like Pavithram, Manichithrathazhu, Nadodikkattu, Vellanakalude Nadu, Thenmavin Kombathu and Mambazhakkalam.

The upcoming film is tentatively titled L 360 as it is Mohanlal’s 360th outing. KR Sunil is scripting the film, shoot for which commenced recently. Mohanlal reportedly plays a driver’s role in the film, which also stars Farhaan Faasil, Binu Pappu, Aarsha Chandhini Baiju and Thomas Mathew.

Sharing photos from the first day’s shoot, Mohanlal wrote on Facebook,

On the set, joining in prayers as we commence filming the project led by director Tharun Moorthy and produced by M. Renjith under Rejaputhra Visual Media. I express my deepest gratitude and seek your blessings as I embark on my 360th film venture.

The makers are yet to reveal any further details regarding the plot or the release plans. On the technical side, the team has so far confirmed only Jakes Bejoy as the music director.
