Naam sends out a good message about the value of friendship: Director Joshy Thomas Pallickal

Debutant Joshy Thomas Pallickal’s Naam is all set to hit screens this coming Friday (May 11). Naam is the latest entrant to the slew of campus films that has been releasing of late in Malayalam cinema. But the director clarifies that Naam is unlike other campus flicks which are mostly centred around politics and romance. The director himself has penned the story for the movie based on his real life experiences.

Naam is basically the story of nine friends and the movie sends a good message about the value of friendship. Recently, the censor board officials watched the movie and appreciated the makers for the goodness element in it.

Naam stars Shabareesh Varma, Rahul Madhav, Aditi Ravi, Tony Luke, Noby Markose, Niranj Suresh, Sonu Sebastian, Ajay Mathew and Mareena Michael in major roles. Director Gautham Vasudev Menon, Tovino Thomas and Vineeth Sreenivasan appear in cameo roles. Around 140 newcomers are also part of the movie’s supporting cast.

Shabareesh Varma, apart from playing one of the leads, has also penned eight songs in the movie. The songs and trailer has already got good response from the viewers in social medias. Naam is produced by the director’s own banner JTP Films.

Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri all set to hit screens as it gets a clean U certificate

National award winner Suraj Venjaramoodu’s next outing as a lead actor, ‘Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri’, is gearing up for release. The movie has been censored with a clean U certificate and is now all set to hit screens on May 11, Friday. Jeans Markose of ‘Angels’ fame is directing this movie and newcomer Joselet Joseph has scripted it.

Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri is touted to be a realistic family drama. Suraj Venjaramoodu plays the lead role of Plachottil Kuttan Pillai, a 58-year-old senior police constable. The movie’s promo songs and trailer was met with good response from the viewers in social medias.

The core plot of Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri is centred around a series of events that occur in Kuttan Pillai’s house when his relatives – his children, their spouses and extended family – converge at his humble home to attend the annual Shiva Rathri festival. Biju Sopanam of ‘Uppum Mulakum’ fame and Srinda Arhaan play a couple in the movie.

Mithun Ramesh, Srikant Murali, Kochu Preman, Poojappura Radhakrishnan, Rajesh Manarkad and James Eliyas are also part of the supporting cast. Fazil Nazer has handled the cinematography and Shibish K Chandran is in charge of the edits. The movie marks the debut of playback singer Sayanora Philip as a music director. The ‘Chakku Pattu’ composed by Sayanora has already emerged as a hit.

Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri is produced by Raji Nandakumar under the banner of Alanghat Productions.

It’s been exactly an year since Malayalam cinema’s young heartthrob Dulquer Salmaan turned a father. Yes, his daughter Maryam Ameerah Salmaan is celebrating her first birthday today and daddy Dulquer just cannot contain his excitement. He penned a lovely little note on his official social media handle, which reads,

Wishing the love of our lives the happiest first birthday ! Can’t believe you are already one ! You’re our biggest blessing and you’re already this huge personality and you fill up our lives and homes with only love and joy. Happy birthday Maryam babyyyy.

Along with the note, Dulquer also posted a candid photo of him and wife Amaal Sufiya with their daughter. On the work front, Dulquer is currently shooting for his upcoming Tamil movie, Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithaal (KKKA). The movie directed by debutant Desingh Periyasamy is a romantic travelogue in which ‘Pelli Choopulu’ fame Ritu Varma plays the female lead. After the completion of KKKA, he will be joining the sets of his Hindi film ‘The Zoya Factor’, co-starring Sonam Kapoor.

Meanwhile, Dulquer’s debut Telugu movie Mahanati is all set to hit screens this coming Wednesday (May 9). The movie which is the biopic of legendary actress Savitri has Dulquer playing the role of late actor Gemini Ganesan.

‘Baahubali’ star Prabhas is currently shooting for his upcoming movie Saaho directed by Sujeeth. This big budget movie has a plethora of actors from industries across the country. Following the massive success of Baahubali, Prabhas has become a nationwide sensation. To cash in on his huge popularity, the makers have planned Saaho as a trilingual in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages.

Team Saaho is currently shooting for some high octane action sequences in Abu Dhabi. In this 50 day long schedule in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the team will be filming chase sequences in the downtown and Burj Khalifa. If reports are to be believed, the makers are investing around Rs Rs 300 crore on the film, of which Rs 90 crore will be spent on the action sequences alone.

Some leaked pictures of Prabhas from the sets of Saaho are trending virally on social medias. Prabhas can be seen riding a bike in the pictures, so it’s presumably from a chase sequence. Stunts in Saaho are choreographed by popular stuntman Kenny Bates, who has worked on Hollywood films like Pearl Harbour, Transformers, and Die Hard.

In an attempt to give the movie a pan Indian appeal, the makers have roped in several noted actors from various industries. Bollywood diva Shraddha Kapoor is playing the female lead. Veteran Bollywood star Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Chunky Pandey, Mandira Bedi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Arun Vijay, Lal and Tinnu Anand are playing prominent roles in the movie.

Renowned cinematographer R Madhie is wielding the camera and the famed trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is handling the music department. Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati are jointly funding this movie under the banner of UV Creations. The movie is slated for a 2019 release.

Mammootty starrer Abrahaminte Santhathikal is one of the most awaited movies of the season. If reports are to be believed, the movie is getting ready for release next month. After the stunning response for the first look, the makers have informed that the second poster will be released on May 11 at 7 PM.

Abrahaminte Santhathikal marks the directorial debut of Shaji Padoor, a veteran who has been in the industry as an associate director for over two decades. Haneef Adeni of ‘The Great Father’ fame has scripted this movie, touted to be a cop-action thriller.
The movie has Mammootty playing the role of a police assistant superintendent, Derick Abraham.

Abrahaminte Santhathikal promsies to be a stylish one, on the lines of ‘The Great Father’. Anson Paul, noted for his roles in Solo, Aadu 2 and Oozham, is playing a crucial role as Mammootty’s brother in the movie. Kaniha, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajon and newbie Maria John are part of the movie’s supporting cast.

The technical crew comprises of cinematographer Alby Antony, composer Gopi Sunder and editor Mahesh Narayanan, who turned a director last year with the widely acclaimed ‘Take Off’. Joby George is producing Abrahaminte Santhathikal under the banner of Goodwill Entertainment.

One of Tamil cinema’s most popular actors, Ajith Kumar has been appointed by Anna University/Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) for helping them with their drone mission. Ajith, popularly called Thala by his fans, has been appointed by MIT as their Helicopter Test Pilot and UAV System Adviser.

Ajith will be paid a salary of Rs 1,000 per visit. He has offered to donate it for the education of MIT’s poor students. The actor will be begin his assignment by helping the team build an advanced UAV for Medical Express – 2018 UAV Challenge, a prestigious completion whose final round is scheduled to be held in Australia this coming September.

Ajith first developed an interest in aero-modelling as a school student. He nurtured his passion for designing and operating remote-controlled vehicles over the years. He often practices at the flying club in Chennai and is one of the few actors in India to possess a pilot license.

On the film front, Ajith will start shooting for Viswasam this month. The movie directed by Siva has Nayanthara as the female lead. Sathya Jyothi Films is funding this movie which is touted to be a rural-based commercial entertainer.

Sivakarthikeyan-Nayanthara duo’s new movie launched

We had earlier reported about Sivakarthikeyan signing a new movie with director M Rajesh. KE Gnanavel Raja’s Studio Green Entertainment is backing this movie, which said to be a typical commercial entertainer. Nayanthara and Sivakarthikeyan have been paired together for the second time after the superhit Velaikkaran.

The movie was officially launched last day with a customary pooja ceremony in Chennai. Sivakarthikeyan, KE Gnanavel Raja, Sathish and director Rajesh were present for the pooja function. Rajesh has previously worked with Sivakarthikeyan in Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, which was co-written by him. Nayanthara and Rajesh have also previously worked together in Boss Engira Bhaskaran.

Sivakarthikeyan is currently awaiting the release of Ponram’s Seemaraja. He is also prepping up to start shooting for Ravikumar’s yet-to-be titled sci-fi flick. Another film with Vignesh Shivn is also in the pipeline. On the other hand, Nayanthara is busy shooting for Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy in which she is sharing screen space with superstars like Chiranjeevi and Amitabh Bachchan. She also has Viswasam, Kolaiyuthir Kaalam, Imaikkaa Nodigala and Kolamaavu Kokila coming up in Tamil.
