Prithviraj Productions: Prithviraj announces his new film production company!

Ever since Prithviraj ended his association with August Cinema, there have been reports about him starting a new production company on his own. And after nearly an year, the actor has announced his new banner today. The company has been named as ‘Prithviraj Productions’ and will be headed by him and his wife Supriya.

Prithviraj shared a press note on the company’s website, which reads,

Over the past one year Supriya and I have been putting our efforts into realizing a dream. And now it’s finally time to share it with you. A new film production company!

We have always wanted to give back to cinema… and we couldn’t possibly think of a better way to do that than facilitate films which we believe will make Malayalam cinema proud.

Why did it take one year? Why do we believe this could be the start of something very special for our industry? Why is this dream of ours effectively taking a step closer to the vision that I have always harboured for Malayalam cinema? These are all questions to which hopefully you’ll find answers in the next few announcements that will follow.

For now, I’d like to thank all of you who’ve given me what I have, not to forget Shaji Nadesan and Santosh Sivan who held my hand when I took baby steps into the world of film production, and a heartfelt thank you to each and everyone who taught me all that I know of cinema.

Today, Supriya and I proudly present,
PRITHVIRAJ PRODUCTIONS

Prithviraj ended his association with August Cinema in July last year. He started the company in 2011 along with his friends Shaji Nadesan and Santhosh Sivan; actor Arya joined them later. Their first production venture was Urumi starring Prithviraj and directed by Santhosh Sivan. Later they produced films like Indian Rupee, Kadal Kadannu Oru Maathukutty, Sapthamashree Thaskaraha, Double Barrel, Darwinte Parinamam, Anuraga Karikkin Vellam and The Great Father.

If reports are to be believed, the maiden venture of Prithviraj’s new production company will be a sci-fi film directed by Jenuse Mohammed of ‘100 Days of Love’ fame. Prithviraj himself will be playing the lead in the movie which has reportedly been titled as ‘Nine’. The movie’s official announcement is expected to be made in the coming days.
