Thalapathy 62: Three villains for Vijay in his next with AR Murugadoss!

Vijay is currently busy shooting for his next with AR Murugadoss, which is tentatively titled Thalapathy 62. The team has already wrapped up a couple of brief schedules and will soon be moving to the US for shooting some important portions. Keerthy Suresh plays the female lead in the movie which is backed by Sun Pictures.

As per latest reports, the movie will have three villains locking horns with Vijay. Radha Ravi and politician Pala Karuppiah have already been confirmed while the third actor’s name has not yet been revealed. Murugadoss’ movies like Ghajini, Thupakki, Kaththi and Spyder have all had powerful antagonists with well fleshed out characters. Thalapathy 62 also promises to be no different.

The veteran Radha Ravi is one of the finest actors Tamil cinema has ever seen. He has played negative roles in numerous films and it will be treat to see him pitted opposite Vijay. Pala Karuppiah’s villains act in Vasanthabalan’s ‘Angadi Theru’ is also a praiseworthy one.

The movie scripted by AR Murugadoss has dialogues by Jeyamohan, the co-writer of 2.0. Vijay is said to be playing a millionaire’s role in the movie. It is probably the first time that Vijay is playing such a character as he is mostly offered roles that are easily relatable to the commoners. Leaked stills from the movie’s location has Vijay dapper in his new bearded getup.

The technical crew includes cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, editor Sreekar Prasad and composer AR Rahman. Title and first look will be revealed soon.

We were the among to report about Pranav Mohanlal teaming up with director Arun Gopy of ‘Ramaleela’ fame. Mollywood’s leading banner Mulakupadam Films will be producing the movie. The official announcement was made last day via the director’s and Tomichan Mulakupadam’s official Facebook pages.

As per our sources within the industry, shoot for the movie is set to commence by June. They have planned to wrap it up by November and ensure a grand release during the Christmas season.

Arun Gopy made a highly impressive debut last year with Dileep’s Ramaleela. The movie faced all sorts of obtscales prior to release, but the magnitude of its success took the whole industry by surprise. The debutant’s craft in handling a serious political drama with such maturity was widely appreciated.

Arun Gopy is debuting as a writer with the upcoming Pranav Mohanlal starrer. It is expected to be an action packed mass entertainer as Pranav has already proved that action is his forte. The Parkour stunts performed by Pranav in Jeethu Joseph’s Aadhi was one of a kind. The movie boasts of some of the best fights and chase sequences ever seen in Malayalam cinema.

Pranav is already hailed by many as an action hero, so the audience will be expecting a mass flick when he teams up with Arun Gopy. The director and his team is currently finalizing the supporting cast and technical crew. Official announcement with the title and other details will be made very soon.

Odiyan last schedule kick-starts today!

After a two month long gap, shoot for Mohanlal’s upcoming movie Odiyan has resumed today in Palakkad. This third and final schedule was supposed to start last month but got pushed due to Mohanlal’s other commitments. A crew of over 100 people, including the artists and the technicians, will be sweating it out for the next two months.

Odiyan directed by VA Shrikumar Menon has Mohanlal, Manju Warrier and Prakash Raj in the lead roles. National award winner Harikrishnan has scripted the movie based on the life of odiyans. The movie is primarily about Odividya, a kind of black magic and people who practice it, called odiyans.

While Mohanlal plays Odiyan Manikyan, Manju Warrier essays the role of Prabha and Prakash Raj’s character is named Ravunni. The movie’s story is set in three different timelines starting from the pre-electricty days in the 1950s to 2000. It follows Manikyan’s life from his childhood to his 60s.

In this upcoming schedule, the younger versions of three lead characters will be shot. All three of them – Mohanlal, Manju Warrier and Prakash Raj – will be appearing in multiple looks in the movie. Taking everyone by surprise, Mohanlal had reduced around 18 kilos to play the younger version of his character Manikyan. The star’s fans are eagerly waiting to see him as Odiyan Manikyan on-screen.

Actors like Innocent, Sana Althaf, Kailas, Naren and Siddique are also part of this ongoing schedule. Aashirvad Cinemas headed by Antony Perumbavoor is funding this big budget movie.

Kamal Haasan visits Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Chennai

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai on Friday night.
As per a medical bulletin issued by the hospital, the CM was admitted for aroutine annual medical check up. Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan, who is very close to Pinarayi Vijayan visited him today evening at Circuit House, Chennai.

Kamal Haasan enquired about his health in the meeting. His newly launched party Makkal Needhi Maiam’s official Twitter handle posted pictures of the meeting. Kamal shares a very good relationship with Pinarayi Vijayan and meets him regularly during his visit to Kerala. Last year for Onam, Kamal had paid a personal visit to the CM. He has also often congratulated the Kerala ministry for their good governance.

As informed by us, earlier in the day, the official announcement of Pranav Mohanlal’s new movie has been made. The actor will be teaming up with Arun Gopy of ‘Ramaleela’ fame next. One of Mollywood’s leading producers, Tomichan Mulakupadam will be funding this big ticket film.

Director Arun Gopy took to his official Facebook handle to announce the big news. His post reads,

With utmost happiness and privilege I take this opportunity to announce my next venture with Tommichayan (Tomichan Mulukupadam) starring the highly talented, loved and appreciated actor, Pranav Mohanlal. To take up the dual role of a Director and Writer for the movie, I humbly request your love, prayers and support for this project just as much as all of you helped me to tide through the difficult times of Ramaleela and achieve success.

Arun Gopy’s debut film Ramaleela was scripted by Sachi. The movie starring Dileep in the lead faced all sorts of obtscales before releasing, but its massive success took the whole industry by surprise. The director will be hoping to repeat the same success this time as well. This time the expectations will be multifold as Pranav enjoys a huge fan following and hype surrounding this movie will be humungous.

We had recently reported about Sunny Wayne signing for a new movie titled French Viplavam. Shoot for the movie directed by debutant Maju is currently progressing at a brisk pace. The movie scripted jointly by Anwar Ali, Shajeer Shah and Shajeer is tipped to be a fun entertainer with a period backdrop, set in 1996.

Sunny Wayne is playing the role of a chef in the movie. He is a lazy guy working in a village resort who likes to hang around with his friends all the time. The actor is sporting a new look in the movie. Since the time period is different, his costumes and looks have all been deisgned accordingly. The movie promises to explore a different dimension of Sunny Wayne, the actor.

Chemban Vinod Jose and Lal play other major roles in the movie. The three actors are coming together for the first time, so it will be interesting to watch their on-screen chemistry. Sasi Kallinga, Vishnu, Unnimaya, Arya and Krishna are also part of the supporting cast. Pappinu is cranking the camera while Deepu Joseph handles the edits. Prashanth Pillai is composing music for the movie. It is being produced by Shajeer KJ and Jaffeer KA under the banner of Abba Creations.

Nayanthara likely to star alongside Mammootty in the YSR biopic Yathra!

Recently we had reported about Mammootty being approached for the biopic on late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Telugu filmmaker Mahi Raghav and his team were recently in Kochi to discuss about the project and if reports are to be believed, the megastar has given his nod for this big project.

Mahi Raghav, who has made movies like Paathshala and Anando Brahma, has been working on the script for the biopic for sometime now. The movie said to be titled as Yathra will have Mammootty playing the late Chief Minister’s role. It will be really interesting to see how he essays the role of YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who was popularly known as YSR.

YSR died in an air crash in 2009 after the helicopter carrying him crashed in a dense forest. He was so popular in Andhra Pradesh that hundreds of his followers committed suicide upon hearing his death. This upcoming biopic will showcase some of the important aspects of his life and his political journey.

South Indian cinema’s lady superstar Nayanthara has also been approached to play a pivotal role in the movie. She is yet to sign the dotted lines but there is a strong buzz about the actress showing interest in being part of such a big project. If it happens it will be her fifth outing with Mammootty after sharing screen space in movies like Thaskara Veeran, Rappakal, Bhaskar The Rascal and Puthiya Niyamam.

Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devi Reddy will be jointly producing this movie. It is being planned as a multingual in all major Indian languages. The team is expected to make an official announcement very soon, with details about the entire cast and when the project would start rolling.

Last year, Asif Ali’s Adventures of Omanakuttan was a talked about movie for its quirky narrative and experimental nature. He is now teaming up with the same director Rohit VS for another similar movie titled ‘Iblis’. Shoot for the movie is all set to commence tomorrow. Premam fame Madonna Sebastian has been paired opposite Asif in this upcoming movie.

According to the makers, Iblis is a musical comedy on the lines of Jagga Jasoos. Sameer Abdul, the co-writer of Adventures of Omanakuttan has also penned Iblis. It is a musical adventure, something which is rarely attempted in the grounds of Malayalam cinema. The characters of this film will be extremely animated and are almost caricaturish in their emotions and body language.

Iblis will have four lead characters played by Asif Ali, Madonna Sebastian, Lal and National award winning child actor Master Adish Praveen. Akhil George is the cinematographer and Shameer Muhammed will be handling the edits. Dawn Vincent has been signed as the music director. The movie is being funded by Ichais productions and will be released through Asif Ali’s own banner Adam’s World of Imagination.

We were among the first to report about Nivin Pauly teaming up with director Vysakh. The movie which marks the reunion of Vysakh and writer Udhayakrishna will reportedly go on floors by the end of August. Nivin Pauly is currently shooting for Kayamkulam Kochunni after which he is expected to join the sets of Dhyan Sreenivasan’s directorial debut ‘Love Action Drama’ (LAD).

As per latest reports, Nivin will start shooting for Vysakh’s movie after he completes his portions for LAD. Udhayakrishna-Vysakh team’s last outing ‘Pulimurugan’ was a record breaking blockbuster. Releasing in October 2016, it emerged as the highest grossing Malayalam movie ever, doing a business of over Rs 150 crores. So, expectations will be sky-high when the duo team up once again.

Vyskah is well known for his mass action flicks, but one of his biggest hits ‘Seniors’ was a campus based entertainer. His upcoming movie with Nivin is also said to be one such film. Udhayakrishna is scripting this movie as a romantic-family entertainer with a campus backdrop. The movie’s official announcement with the title and details regarding its cast and crew will be made very soon.

Debutant director Tinu Pappachan’s Swathanthryam Ardharathriyilil is gearing up for release this month. Antony Varghese, who made an impressive debut last year with the blockbuster Angamaly Diaries (AD), is playing the lead in this movie. Vinayakan and Chemban Vinod Jose are also there in other major roles. A new poster featuring these three actors was released today.

From whatever little we get to see in the posters, Swathanthryam Ardharathriyilil promises to be a raw action packed flick. Tinu Pappachan is a former associate of Lijo Jose Pellissery and has worked in his cult blockbuster Angamaly Diaries, so an inspiration is clearly there to make a raw and realistic film.

Newcomer Dileep Kurian has scripted Swathanthryam Ardharathriyilil. The movie has Antony playing Jacob, a Kottayam based youngster who works in a finance company. As the title Swathanthryam Ardharathriyilil suggests, the core plot of this movie evolves over certain incidents that occur in a single night which turns the protagonist’s life upside down.

Director Lijo Jose Pellissery and few other actors from ‘AD’ are also part of this upcoming movie. Cinematographer Gireesh Gangadharan and editor Shameer Mohammed who worked in ‘AD’ are handling their respective departments in this movie as well. Jakes Bejoy is composing the music and Deepak Alexander is in charge of the background score.

The team is currently busy with the post production works and a teaser is expected to be released very soon. The movie is being produced by BC Joshi and it will be presented by director B Unnikrishnan.
