Surya TV buys the broadcast rights of Mammootty’s Abrahaminte Santhathikal for a huge amount!

Mammootty is currently shooting in Kochi for his upcoming movie, Abrahaminte Santhathikal – A Police Story. The movie marks the directorial debut of Shaji Padoor, a veteran who has been in the industry for over two decades as an associate director. Haneef Adeni, the director of last year’s blockbuster movie ‘The Great Father’ is scripting this movie.

Shooting for the movie is only halfway, despite that market leader Surya TV has bagged its satellite rights for a huge amount. It was officially announced via the channel’s official Twitter handle. The exact amount has not been disclosed but it is said to be one of the highest for Mammootty’s movies. Recently, the broadcast rights of his upcoming movie Uncle was also sold for a huge price.

Abrahaminte Santhathikal is presumably a cop action thriller. Mammootty and promising young actor Anson Paul will be seen as brothers in the movie. Kaniha and newbie Maria John are playing the female leads. Seasoned actors like Siddique and Kalabhavan Shajon are also part of the supporting cast.

Cinematography is being handled by Alby and Gopi Sunder is in charge of the music department. Mahesh Narayanan, who turned a director last year with the widely acclaimed ‘Take Off’, is editing the movie. Joby George is funding Abrahaminte Santhathikal under the banner of Goodwill Entertainment. The makers are reportedly planning for a June release.

The movie was released in January amidst tremendous expectations but still managed to live up to that. Unlike his contemporaries, Pranav likes to stay out of the limelight. He did not attend any public event or success celebration of Aadhi despite all his co-stars taking part in such events actively. The highly anticipated teaser of superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming movie Kaala was released midnight on March 2. It was initially scheduled to release in the morning but unfortunately, the director’s copy of the teaser got leaked forcing the makers to release it midnight. Inspite of that, the teaser has gone on a record breaking spree courtesy the never ending Rajinikanth craze. The video is now trending at the top in YouTube with a whopping 5.6 million views in 15 hours time.

As expected, director Pa Ranjith has loaded the teaser with mass elements to excite the superstar’s fans. But that’s not all; it also has an evidnet political subtext which is quite hard to miss. The dialogues, lyrics, costumes and even the props used in the background are cleverly placed to add depth to the movie’s politics. Santhosh Narayanan’s goosebumps background score is another major highlight of the teaser.

Kaala is basically a commercial gangster flick based in the Mumbai underworld. It is about a guy from Tirunelveli, who runs away in his childhood to Mumbai to become a powerful don living in the slums. Rajinikanth plays this character, Kaala, who heads the Tamil community in the slums of Dharavi.

Kaala has an ensemble supporting cast which includes several noted actors from North India. Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi is playing the female lead, but she is not paired opposite Rajinikanth. Multiple national award winner Nana Patekar is playing the powerful antagonist’s role. Jackie Shroff, Pankaj Tripathi, Eeshwari Rao, Anjali Patil, Sayaji Shinde, Sakshi Agarwal, Samuthirakani, Sukanya, Ramesh Thilak and Sampath Raj are also part of the supporting cast.

Rajinikanth’s son-in-law and actor Dhanush is producing Kaala under his banner Wunderbar Films Pvt Ltd. Sreekar Prasad is editing the movie and Pa Ranjith’s regular composer Santhosh Narayanan is handling the music department. The movie is slated for a grand summer release on April 27.

Shoot for Thalapathy 62 is currently progressing in Sun Picture’s studios in Chennai. A leaked still from the movie’s location is trending virally in social medias. Vijay looks dapper in his new bearded getup. Reportedly, the actor is playing a millionaire businessman in the movie. It is probably the first time that Vijay is playing such a character as he is mostly offered roles that are easily relatable to the commoners. So, this upcoming movie promsies to be a refreshing change from Vijay’s usual films.

AR Murugadoss is directing this movie, marking his third outing with Vijay after the blockbuster success of Thuppakki and Kaththi. The team has already shot some important portions in Kolkata and will soon be flying to the US for shooting the climax and a couple of songs. This US schedule will be lasting for around 20 days.

Keerthy Suresh plays the female lead in the movie while Yogi Babu and ‘Vikram Vedha fame’ Prem Kumar will be seen in supporting roles. Other cast details have not yet been revealed. Title and official first look is expected to be released very soon.

Jeyamohan, the co-writer of Rajinikanth’s 2.0, is penning the dialogues in Thalapathy 62. Technical crew includes Malayali cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, editor Sreekar Prasad and composer AR Rahman. Sun Pictures is producing this high profile project.

Kaaliyan team in talks with action choreographers of Game of Thrones!!

Prithviraj’s mega project ‘Kaaliyan’ was officially announced last week. Though the announcement was made only recently, groundwork for the movie was started long back. Debutant Mahesh S will be directing this epic movie, which is to be produced by Magic Moon Productions. BT Anil Kumar has scripted the movie after doing years of research works.

Kaaliyan is an epic period film based on the Northern ballads. The movie tells the story of Kunchirakkottu Kali, a warrior who lived in the 17th century in Venad. He was well known as Kaaliyan for his bravery. Kaaliyan was a trusted disciple of Iravikkutty Pilla, a legendary warrior. Though Iraivikutty Pillai and his life story went on to be a part of history, Kaaliyan remained an unsung hero. The movie will showcase the legend of Kaaliyan.

Some of the best available technicians from across the across have already been signed for the movie. Bollywood’s leading composer trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy is making their Malayalam debut with Kaaliyan. Sujith Vaassudev will be wielding the camera and National award winner Shajith Koyeri will be handling the sound design.

Meanwhile, the makers are also in talks with action choreographers working in the world famous TV series Game of Thrones. Apparently, they are trying to make the movie as realistic as possible with novel action sequences. The series is hugely popular for its top quality action; so it will be great if the makers of Kaaliyan can get the same choreographers on board.

Veteran actor Sathyaraj will be seen in a prominent role in the movie. Other supporting actors will be cast through screenings that will be held in Mumbai, Chennai, Pune and in different parts of Kerala. The movie is planned to go on floors next year after Prithviraj finishes his other commitments.

Following weeks of baseles reports, it has finally been made official that Asif Ali would be playing the lead in the director’s new movie. Jis Joy’s previous two films – Bicycle Thieves and Sunday Holiday – also had Asif Ali as the hero. Their upcoming movie is titled as ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’.

The highly talented Mamta Mohandas has been signed as the female lead, marking her reunion with Asif after a gap of nine long years. They last played a pair in Sathyan Anthikad’s Katha Thudarunnu. It will be interesting to see their on-screen chemistry after such a long gap.

Jis Joy has established himself as a bankable filmmaker with both his movies, Bicycle Thieves and Sunday Holiday, emerging successful at the box office. While Bicycle Thieves was an average grosser, Sunday Holiday, released last year, was a superhit success. It was one of the biggest hits in Mollywood last year. The movie enjoyed a theatrical run of over 100 days in a good number of centres. A grand success party of the movie has been planned to be held in Muscat on March 1.

Varma: Arjun Reddy’s Tamil remake starring Dhruv Vikram starts rolling!

As we had reported earlier, Chiyaan Vikram’s son Dhruv is making is his entry to film industry with the Tamil remake of last year’s blockbuster Telugu movie Arjun Reddy. National award winner Bala is directing the movie in Tamil. Varma mRks the maiden Tamil production of Mollywood’s leading banner E4 Entertainment.

Varma officially went on floors today (March 2) in Kathmandu, Nepal. The team will be shooting for some important portions there before returning back to Chennai. Cinematography is handled by Sukumar and dialogues are penned by Raju Murugan, who has directed acclaimed movies like Cuckoo and Joker. Radhan, who composed the music in Arjun Reddy, has been signed for Varma as well. The makers are still tight-lipped about the female lead and other supporting cast.

Arjun Reddy, released last year was a sensational success across the South. The movie directed by debutant Sandeep Reddy Vanga was widely acclaimed, both by the critics as well as the commoners. It tells the story of an impulsive medical surgeon, Arjun Reddy, who falls madly in love with his college junior. Arjun becomes alcoholic post break-up and the rest of the story is about how he redeems himself.

Vijay Deverakonda’s stellar performance in the movie has been rated as one of the finest in Telugu cinema in recent years. So, it will be a real challenge for Dhruv as comparisons are bound to be made with Vijay Deverakonda.

It must be noted that Varma’s director Bala was the one who gave Vikram a big break with the National award winning ‘Sethu’. It will be interesting to see how Bala launches Dhruv. The director is famous for his intense style of filmmaking, with most of his films having a dark and disturbing nature. With Arjun Reddy’s remake, Bala is expected to showcase an unseen filmmaking style of his. Let’s wait and watch!

Mohanlal’s Neerali is currently in the post-production phase. The team is now working on the teaser cut. Fans have been eagerly waiting to hear about the teaser release and much to their delight, it has now been announced that it will be released on March 7. A teaser launch event will be held at RMP Mall in Mangalore, where Mohanlal is currently shooting for Kayamkulam Kochunni.

Neerali directed by Ajoy Varma and scripted by newcomer Saju Thomas is tipped to be an action-adventure thriller. Mohanlal plays Sunny, a gemologist in the movie. Nadiya Moidu, who is making a comeback to Malayalam cinema after five years, is essaying the role of Mohnalal’s wife. Dileesh Pothan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Nassar, Bineesh Kodiyeri and Parvatii Nair are also part of the supporting cast.

Neerali has its cinematography by Santhosh Thundiyil and music by Stephen Devassy. Director Ajoy Varma himself is editing the movie. It is being produced by Santhosh T Kuruvilla’s Moonshot Entertainment, and co-produced by John Thomas and Mibu Jose Nettikdan.

Vineeth Sreenivasan starrer Aravindante Athidhikal is gearing up to hit screens. Last day, the makers released a new poster of the movie through their official Facebook page. It features Vineeth Sreenivasan, Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, Nikhila Vimal, Urvashi, KPAC Lalitha, Biju Kuttan and a few others.

Aravindante Athithikal is directed by M Mohanan, who has made hit films like Katha Parayumbol and Manikyakallu. This upcoming movie is scripted by newcomer Rajesh Raghavan. From the posters, the movie looks like a feel good entertainer.

The movie’s core plot is set in the premises of Mookambika Temple in Kollur. Vineeth Sreenivasan plays Aravindan, an orphan who was raised by Madhavan, the owner of Mookambika Vilasam lodge. The movie explores Aravindan’s relationship with his guests and his wait for his long lost mother.

Nikhila Vimal of ’24×7 Love’ fame plays the female lead. The movie has a big supporting cast which includes Shanthi Krishna Vijayaraghavan, Kottayam Nazeer and Baiju among others. Cinematography is by Sawroop Philip and music department is handled by Shaan Rahman, who is a regular in Vineeth Sreenivasan’s movies. Veteran Ranjan Abraham is editing the movie.
