Kalidas Jayaram’s Poomaram all set for release!

Kalidas Jayaram’s Poomaram is one movie that is eagerly awaited by the Malayali audience this year. The movie directed by Abrid Shine has been in the making for nearly two years. Shoot commenced in 2016 and was supposed to hit screens by February last year. But it kept delaying due to some unknown reasons. The movie’s long delay is now a topic of trolls in social medias.

Finally, the movie will finally see light next month. The makers have released a new poster confirming March release. Exact date has not yet been announced. Despite being under the wraps for such long time, the movie is still remembered by the public thanks to the trolls and the two hit tracks – ‘Njanum Njanumentalum’ and ‘Kadavathoru Thoni’.

Poomaram promises to be a campus based youthful entertainer.
Reportedly, the movie also stars Kunchacko Boban, Meera Jasmine and Gayathri Suresh in supporting actors. Newcomer Archita Anish Kumar is playing a prominent role in the movie. Eventhough Archita is playing an integral part, she does not have any combination scenes with Kalidas Jayaram.

Cinematography is handled by Gnanam and Manoj is in charge of the edits. Gopi Sunder is handling the background score. It is jointly produced by Dr Paul Varghese and director Abrid Shine under the banner of Dr Paul’s Entertainment. Central Pictures will be releasing the movie in Kerala

Official: Rajinikanth’s next is with Karthik Subbaraj!

Superstar Rajinikanth is awaiting the release of two of his movies this year – Kaala and 2.0. While Kaala is slated for release on April 27, an announcement regarding 2.0 has not yet been made. Meanwhile, a breaking announcement about Rajinikanth’s new project has been made today.

Superstar will teaming up with the highly promising young filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj for his next movie after Kaala. Sun Pictures, who is making a comeback with the upcoming Vijay-Murugadoss movie, will be producing this one as well. The announcement came is a huge surprise via Sun TV’s official Twitter handle today.

Karthik Subbaraj is just a three-film-old director but all his movies have been path breaking attempts which went on to garner widespread acclaim. His debut movie ‘Pizza’ starring Vijay Setupathi was a mystery thriller while his second film ‘Jigarthanda’ was a musical-gangster flick. The latter won a couple of National awards including best supporting actor for Bobby Simha.

Karthik’s ‘Iraivi’ is widely regarded as one of the finest female-oriented movies of all time in Tamil cinema. His next release Mercury, is a silent film starring Prabhudeva in the lead. The movie is slated for release on April 13. The director has often expressed his wish to work with superstar Rajinikanth and it is now a dream come true moment for him. More details regarding the title, cast and crew, or when shoot commences is expected to be announced very soon. Stay tuned to this space for more updates.

As we had earlier reported, Suraj Venjaramoodu is playing the lead role in ‘Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri’, an upcoming movie directed by Jean Markose. Last day, the audio launch event of the movie was held in IMA Hall, Kochi. Playback singer Sayanora Philip is turning a composer with this movie. Suraj, Fahadh Faasil, Indrajith Vinay Forrt, Anumol, Archana Kavi, Ramesh Pisharody and many others were present for last day’s event. Here are some stills from the function.

Neerali has a subject that Malayalam cinema is yet to try out: Suraj Venjaramoodu

Mohanlal’s upcoming movie Neerali is a very interesting project. The movie was not initially there in his schedule but he squeezed in dates between the schedule break of Odiyan. Mohanlal allotted dates despite his busy schedule after being highly impressed by the script. He shot for only around 15 days for the movie and the entire shoot was wrapped up in just 36 days. All this has piqued the curiosity among the audience.

Neerali is directed by Ajoy Varma and scripted by newcomer Saju Thomas. Not much is known about the movie except for the fact that it is a thriller. Suraj Venjaramoodu, who plays a crucial role in the movie, says that Neerali has a subject that Malayalam cinema is yet to try out.

Mohanlal plays Sunny, a gemologist in the movie and Suraj will be seen as his driver. They both share the longest screen time in the movie. According to him, the movie has eqaul dose of humour, action and thrill. Nadiya Moidu, who is making a comeback to Malayalam, is essaying the role of Mohanlal’s wife in Neerali. Dileesh Pothan, Nassar and Parvatii Nair are also part of the supporting cast.

Neerali is currently in the post production phase. The team is now working on the highly anticipated teaser, which is expected to be released very soon. Director Ajoy Varma himself is editing the movie and Stephen Devassy is composing music. There will be three songs in total out of which one, a duet track, will be sung by Mohanlal and Shreya Ghoshal. The movie is being produced by Santhosh T Kuruvilla’s Moonshot Entertainment, and co-produced by John Thomas and Mibu Jose Nettikdan.

Tovino Thomas’ much talked about bilingual movie is finally getting up to hit screens next month. This Tamil-Malayalam bilingual is titled as Abhiyum Anuvum in Tamil and Abhiyude Kadha Anuvinteyum in Malayalam. The movie has seen multiple postponing and is finally ready for release on March 9. Official trailer of the movie was released today by the makers via social medias.

Abiyude Katha Anuvinteyum marks the directorial debut of noted woman cinematographer BR Vijayalakshmi. This love story scripted by Udayabanu Maheshwaran is said to be based on some real life incidents that occured in Latin America. Pia Bajpai of ‘Goa’ and ‘Masters’ fame will be seen as Tovino’s romantic interest in the movie.

Veteran actors Prabhu, Suhasini Mani Ratnam and Rohini are playing prominent roles. Dharan is the music director and Agilan has cranked the camera. Vikram Mehra and BR Vijayalakshmi are jointly funding this movie under the banner of Yoodlee Films. Ace cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Santhosh Sivan is serving as an executive producer.

Mohanlal’s epic project Randamoozham to start rolling next January!

It has been a while since we last heard about Mohanlal’s Randamoozham. Amidst rumours that the project has been shelved, comes reports about the team planning to go on floors early next year. Apparently, the makers are currently working on the pre-production and casting process. The movie will be directed by VA Shrikumar Menon, whose directorial debut ‘Odiyan’ also with Mohnalal is slated for release this year.

Randamoozham is based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s award winning novel of the same name. The novel is actually based on the Indian epic Mahabharatha, but told from the perspective of Bheemasenan. Mohanlal is playing the central character of Bheeman in the movie. Apart from him other leading actors from Indian cinema and Hollywood also will be part of the movie.

Certain reports suggest that the makers have approached stars like Jackie Chan, Nagarjuna, Mahesh Babu and Ajay Devgn but an official word has not yet been made regarding the casting. The movie is being planned on an enormous budget of Rs 1000 crores, so the makers have assured that the world’s best available technicians will be part of it.

Randamoozham aka The Mahabharata will be made as a multilingual in English, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages. It will also be dubbed into all major Indian and foreign languages. The movie will be made in two parts with the second installment hitting screens within three months time from the first part’s release. The makers are eyeing to release the first part by 2020. UAE based businessman Dr BR Shetty is producing this epic project. A grand official launch is expected to be held sometime by the end of this year.

Earlier this week the official first look poster of Vineeth Sreenivasan’s upcoming movie ‘Aravindante Athidhikal’ was released in social medias. Today, the makers have released another poster which features Vineeth along with Aju Varghese and Biju Kuttan.

Aravindante Athidhikal directed by M Mohanan is tipped to be a feel good entertainer. The movie scripted by newcomer Rajesh Raghavan is set in the premises of Mookambika Temple in Kollur. Vineeth Sreenivasan plays Aravindan, an orphan who was raised by Madhavan, the owner of Mookambika Vilasam lodge. The movie explores Aravindan’s relationship with his guests and his wait for his long lost mother.

Nikhila Vimal of ’24×7 Love’ fame plays the female lead. The movie has a big supporting cast which includes Urvashi, Shanthi Krishna, KPAC Lalitha, Vijayaraghavan, Prem Kumar, Kottayam Nazeer and Baiju among others.

Aravindante Athidhikal’s technical crew includes cinematographer Sawroop Philip, composer Shaan Rahman and veteran editor Ranjan Abraham. Pradeep Kumar Pathiyara is producing the movie under the banner of Pathiyara Entertainment Pvt Ltd.

After the superhit success of Kattapanayile Rithwik Roshan, the duo of Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Dharmajan Bolgatty is teaming up once again for a fun entertainer. The movie titled as ‘Vikadakumaran’ is directed by Boban Samuel, who has previously made hit films like Janapriyan and Romans.

Official trailer of the movie was released today by megastar Mammootty through his official Facebook page. Vikadakumaran has Vishnu Unnikrishnan playing the role of a lawyer. Dharmajan will be seen as his clerk (gumasthan).

Manasa Radhakrishnan, who made an impressive debut with Asif Ali’s Kaattu, plays the female lead. Salim Kumar, Indrans, Sunil Sukhada, Kalabhavan Haneef, Seema G Nair and Jinu Abraham are also part of the supporting cast. YV Rajesh of ‘Georgettan’s Pooram’ fame has scripted this movie.

Vikadakumaran is being produced by Arun Ghosh and Bijoy Chandran. The technical crew comprises of composer Rahul Raj, lyricist BK Harinarayanan, cinematographer Ajay David Kachappilly and editor Deepu Joseph.

As we had earlier reported, Suraj Venjaramoodu is playing the lead role in ‘Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri’, an upcoming movie directed by Jean Markose of ‘Angels’ fans. Last day, the audio launch event of the movie was held in IMA Hall, Kochi. Popular playback singer Sayanora Philip is turning a composer with this movie.

The makers have released the first song through their official Facebook page. The song titled ‘Chakka Paattu’ tells about Kuttanpilla’s affection towards the jackfruit tree in his ancestral house. Sannidhanandan and RJ Nimmy have rendered this song, lyrics for which is penned by Anwar Ali.

Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri has Suraj playing the lead role of Kuttanpilla, a senior police constable. The movie scripted by Joselet Joseph is touted to be an intense family drama. Suraj plays the role of Plachottil Kuttan Pillai, a 58-year-old police constable. The movie promises to bring to fore the amazing actor in Suraj once again.

The core plot of movie is about a series of events that happen in Kuttan Pillai’s house when his relatives – his children, their spouses and extended family – converge at his humble home to attend the annual Shiva Rathri festival. Fazil Nazer is the cinematographer and Shibish K Chandran is handling the edits. Raji Nandakumar is producing Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri under the banner of Alanghat Productions.

Dulquer Salmaan’s Hindi debut Karwaan is a road movie!

As we all know, Dulquer Salmaan is making his Bollywood entry this year with ‘Karwaan’, in which he co-stars with Irrfan Khan and internet sensation Mithila Palkar. The movie marks the directorial debut of noted actor/theatre personality Akarsh Khurana.

As per the makers, Karwaan is a road movie. Dulquer plays Avinash, techie working in Banglore. Circumstances force him to take the trip from Banglore to Kochi. His friend Shaukat, played by Irrfan Khan, also accompanies him in the journey. On the way, they pick up an young girl as well to join them.

Karwaan is a light hearted entertainer which traces the story of three people who come from different walks of life. Dulquer’s character Avinash is a reserved person while Shaukat is a fun guy with a humorous take on life. Mithila plays a bubbly young girl who has a well defined character of her own. It is a slice of life kind movie with prominence to realistic humour.

Director Akarsh Khurana has penned the movie’s story jointly with Adhir Bhat. The former has previously scripted movies like Humshakals and Krrish 3. He has also co-written the script of Karwaan with Hussain Dalal, the dialogue writer of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and 2 States. Ronnie Screwvala is funding this upcoming movie.

The makers have announced that Karwaan will be hitting screens worldwide on June 1.
