Along with Nivin Pauly and Mohanlal, Sunny Wayne plays a major role in Kayamkulam Kochunni

Kayamkulam Kochunni is the current talk of the town in Mollywood. The movie directed by Roshan Andrews stars Nivin Pauly as Kochunni while Mohanlal plays an extended cameo as Ithikkara Pakki. Latest stills from the movie’s sets has been ruling social medias for the past one week. Thanks to these location stills, expectations have gone sky-high among the audience.

Along with Nivin Pauly and Mohanlal, young star Sunny Wayne also appears in a crucial role in the movie. From the location stills, we presume that Sunny plays a policeman’s role. Prior to the shoot, the actor had trained in horse riding and martial arts. Kayamkulam Kochunni promises to be a big break in the youngster’s career.

Scripted by Bobby-Sanjay, the movie is based on the life of legendary highwayman Kochunni, who was active in 19th century in the Travancore region. As per the makers, Mohanlal as Ithikara Pakki makes his appearance at a very crucial juncture in the story and has around 40 minutes screen time.

Kayamkulam Kochunni also stars Priya Anand, Babu Antony and Kannada actress Priyanka Thimmesh. The technical team also boasts of some big wigs like Bollywood cinematographer Binod Pradhan, National award winning sound designer PM Satheesh and Firefly Creative Studio, who handled the VFX in films like Baahubali and Enthiran. Gokulam Gopalan of Sri Gokulam Films is producing this big budget movie.

Mahanati, the biopic on legendary actress Savithri is nearing completion. Keerthy Suresh plays the lead role in this movie which also stars Dulquer Salmaan,Samantha, and ‘Arjun Reddy’ actors Shalini Pandey and Vijay Deverakonda in major roles. If reports are to be believed, Anushka Shetty has also joined the team.

Mahanati directed by Nag Ashwin has Keerthy Suresh as Savitri and Dulquer as late actor Gemini Ganesan. Reportedly, Anushka has been signed to play the role of Bhanumathi, who is hailed as the first woman superstar of Telugu cinema. The makers roped in Anushka as the role demanded a mature performer.

Almost 80% of the shoot has already been completed. Mahanati showcases both the personal and professional life of Savithri. She was briefly married to Gemini Ganesan and the movie will show some lesser known details about their relationship. Dulquer is playing the different phases of Gemini Ganesan in the movie and for that he will be seen sporting multiple looks.

Samantha and Vijay Devarakonda will be seen as journalists in the movie. The story evolves as the two set out to piece together the story of Savithri’s life. Mahanati is being produced by Vyjayanthi Movies. It is being made as a bilingual in Telugu and Tamil. The Tamil version is titled as ‘Nadigayar Thilagam’. A dubbed version in Malayalam has also been planned.

Hiphop Tamizha likely to score music for Surya 37!

Suriya is currently shooting in Chennai for his upcoming movie with ace filmmaker Selvaraghavan (Suriya 36). The movie produced by Dream Warrior Pictures has Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh playing the female leads. The makers are planning to wrap up the shoot by September and release it for Diwali in November.

Meanwhile, pre-production works for Suriya’s next is also progressing. The actor is teaming up with director KV Anand for the third time after Ayan and Maattraan. The director along with his team is currently in the process of finalizing the cast and crew for the movie. Latest reports in social medias suggest that he has roped in Hiphop Tamizha to compose music for the movie. The duo worked together last year in Kavan starring Vijay Setupathi.

Hiphop Tamizha is one of the most popular composers in Kollywood at present. They are yet to score music for a big star’s film, so much is expected of them when they compose for the upcoming Suriya-KV Anand movie. The director is well known for helming quality commercial entertainers with good scope for music. His upcoming movie with Suriya is also expected to be on similar lines.

Certain unconfirmed reports suggest that KV Anand is trying to get Amitabh Bachchan to play a prominent role in the movie. Apparently, the team is putting in their best of efforts to reach out to Bachchan for a narration and soon there might be an official confirmation around it. Interestingly, KV Anand has worked with the Bollywood superstar in the 2004 cop-action flick Khakee, for which he cranked the camera.

One of Tamil film industry’s leading banners, Lyca Productions is backing Suriya 37. Shoot for the movie is expected to commence once Suriya wraps up his portions for Selvaraghavan’s movie.

Mammootty starrer Parole was a less talked about movie until the official posters were released. While the first look had an intense Mammootty with flag bearing activists in the background, the second one him as a convict sporting an older look. The contrasting posters have successfully piqued the curiosity of the audience. Parole marks the directorial debut of ad filmmaker Sharrath Sandith.

Last day, the makers released another poster featuring Mammootty and Siddique as the left supporting activists. The former plays the lead role of Sakhav Alex in the movie. Ajith Poojappura has scripted Parole based on some real life incidents. It is a common man’s story with a political background for the lead character. The movie travels through three different phases of Alex’s life. As per the makers, Mammootty has given such an intense performance that will remind the viewers of his earlier days.

Parole has Ineya and Miya George as the female leads. While Ineya plays Mammootty’s wife, Miya will be seen in his sister’s role. ‘Baahubali’ fame Prabhakar is playing a significant part in Parole. Suraj Venjaramoodu, Krishna Kumar, Irshad, Sijoy Varghese, Sohan Seenulal, Lalu Alex, Sudheer Karamana, Alencier Ley Lopez, Binu Pappu, Sasi Kallinga, Muthumani and Chembil Ashokan form the movie’s huge supporting cast.

Parole is produced by Antony D’Cruz Entertainment. As per reports, the movie is slated for release on March 30. Century Films will be releasing the movie in Kerala.

As informed earlier by the makers, Mohanlal’s Villain is getting dubbed in Tamil and Telugu languages. The Tamil version has been titled as Mr Villain while it is named as Puli Joodham in Telugu. An announcement regarding the release date of both these movies have not yet been made official.

Directed by B Unnikrishnan, Villain is an emotional thriller with Mohanlal playing the lead role of police officer Mathew Manjooran. It also stars Tamil actor Vishal, Telugu actor Srikanth, Raashi Khanna, Hansika Motwani and Manju Warrier in significant roles.

Villain was released amidst huge hype in October last year. The hype was majorly due to its highly impressive promos and the stellar star cast. However, the movie opened to mixed reports from the commoners, who expected it to be a mass entertainer. Fans, who expected a mass entertainer, were hugely disappointed with the movie as it follows an emotional mood throughout.

Mohanlal’s performance in the movie was widely rated as his finest in recent years. After the initial backlash, the movie gradually picked up at the box office and ended its theatrical run as an average grosser. The movie is produced by Rockline Venkatesh under his banner Rockline Films.

Here’s the first look of Sunny Wayne starrer French Viplavam!

We had recently reported about Sunny Wayne signing for a new movie titled French Viplavam. Shoot for the movie directed by debutant Maju commenced recently. The movie scripted jointly by Anwar Ali, Shajeer Shah and Shajeer is tipped to be a fun entertainer with a period backdrop, set in 1996. Official first look poster of the movie was unveiled today in Sunny Wayne’s Facebook page.

As per the makers, the movie revolves around a chef and his group of friends. Sunny Wayne plays the chef’s role in the movie. He is a lazy guy working in a village resort but likes to hang around with his friends all the time. Chemban Vinod Jose and Lal play major roles in the movie. The three actors are coming together for the first time, so it will be interesting to watch their on-screen chemistry.

Sasi Kallinga, Vishnu, Unnimaya, Arya and Krishna are also part of the supporting cast. Pappinu is cranking the camera while Deepu Joseph handles the edits. Prashanth Pillai is composing music for the movie. It is being produced by Shajeer KJ and Jaffeer KA under the banner of Abba Creations.

It has been a while since reports about a sequel for the 1997 blockbuster film ‘Lelam’ started doing the rounds in social medias. Scriptwriter Renji Panicker confirmed recently that the sequel will go on floors this year. His son Nithin Renji Panicker, who made his debut with the 2016 Mammootty starrer Kasaba, will be directing the movie.

As per latest talks in the industry, the makers are planning to start shooting in April. Renji Panicker is currently in the process of fine tuning the script while the cast is also being finalised simultaneously. Trustworthy reports suggest that Suresh Gopi’s Gokul will also be there in the movie in a crucial role.

Lelam directed by veteran filmmaker Joshiy was released back in 1997. Suresh Gopi’s terrific portrayal of the fiery Aanakkattil Chackochi had won him numerous fans and accolades. Renji Panicker scripted it as a full on commercial entertainer which ran high on Suresh Gopi’s stardom and late actor Soman’s outstanding performance.

It is learnt that Renji Panicker is scripting Lelam 2 also as a mass action flick. Apart from Suresh Gopi, Nandini and Siddique are also expected to reprise their roles from the first part. More details regarding the other cast and crew members will be revealed soon. Renji Panicker and Josemon Simon will be producing the movie.

Even as the movie is nearing its fourth week of theatrical run, it continues to get good response from the audience. Word of mouth has been extremely positive for Hey Jude and that is reflecting in the audience count in theatres.

Today the makers have released a new song video through their official Facebook page. The song ‘Meenukal Vannupoy’ is composed by Ousepachan and rendered to perfection by Amal Antony, Franco and Sayanora Philip. Dr Madhu Vasudevan has penned the lyrics.

Hey Jude directed by Shyamaprasad is a simple feel good entertainer. The movie is scripted by newcomers Nirmal Sahadev and George Kanatt. It is basically a coming-of-age story of Jude, an oddball. How love and understanding transforms Jude after befriending with his neighbor Crystal and her father Sebastian, a neuropsychologist, forms the crux of the story.

Nivin Pauly as the differently abled Jude has given his career best performance. Though the movie has only a handful of characters, all of them – Siddique, Trisha, Vijay Menon and Neena Kurup – have given a performance worth remembering for a long time. Hey Jude is produced by Anil Kumar under the banner of Ambalakkara Global Films.

Mammootty plays a negative role in Uncle?

Mammootty’s Uncle is an eagerly awaited movie. Joy Mathew has scripted this movie, which marks the directorial debut of Gireesh Damodar, a former associate of Ranjith and Padmakumar. Uncle is Joy Mathew’s next movie as a scriptwriter after the widely acclaimed ‘Shutter’. Just like his previous movie, Uncle is also a socially relevant film.

Reports are doing the rounds in social medias suggesting that Mammootty is playing a negative role in the movie. Director Gireesh Damodar has now come out clearing the airs. Apparently, the plot is set in the journey of Mammootty’s character Krishnakumar aka KK from Ooty to Kozhikode. He is accompanied by his friend’s daughter in this trip.

Mammootty will be seen in a different role altogether in the movie. He is sporting a salt and pepper bearded look for this character. The director says that it is the audience who should rate whether Mammootty’s is a negative or a positive character as each person perceives things differently.

Uncle is centred around an unusual situation a middle class family is made to face. The social and political setting of Kerala is of much prominence in the movie. Karthika Muraleedharan, who made her debut last year with Dulquer Salmaan’s Comrade In America (CIA), is playing the female lead in Uncle. It also stars Joy Mathew, Asha Sharath, Vinay Forrt, Suresh Krishna, Kailash, Sheela and Muthumani in supporting roles.

Azhagappan is the cinematographer and Bijibal is handling the music department. Joy Mathew and Sajai Sebastian are jointly funding the movie under their banners of Abra Films International and SJ Films. Recently, the satellite and remake rights for the Tamil and Telugu versions of the movie were sold for a hefty price. An official announcement regarding the release date is yet to be made by the makers.

We had reported about noted scriptwriter Sethu turning an independent filmmaker with a Mammootty starrer. The movie titled as Oru Kuttandan Blog is a village based fun entertainer. As we had already told, the movie will have three female leads. Initially Anu Sithara, Raai Laxmi and Deepti Sati were considered as the leads. But, Shamna Kasim has now replaced Deeti Sati in the movie.

Mammootty plays the role of Hari, a blogger in the movie. The plot is set in a fictional village named Krishnapuram where Shamna Kasim’s character Neena lands as a police officer. The movie is narrated through various episodes of a blog and Shamna’s portion is one such episode which has elements of humour.

Oru Kuttandan Blog is Raai Laxmi’s fifth film with Mammootty after sharing screen space with him previously in Parunth, Annan Thambi, Chattambinadu and Rajadhiraja. Anu Sithara, who is getting rave reviews for her performance in the recently released ‘Captain’, also has an important role in Oru Kuttandan Blog.

The movie’s supporting cast includes Nedumudi Venu, Siddique, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Jude Anthany Joseph, Sanju Sivaram and Adil Ibrahim form the cast. Another interesting aspect of the movie is that actor Unni Mukundan will be involved in it as an associate director. He has adjusted his acting assignments to assist director Sethu in this movie.

The movie will be shot extensively in Kuttanad and nearby areas. Cinematography will be handled by Pradeep Nair and ‘Idea Star Singer’ fame Sreenath is debuting as a composer with this movie. It is being produced by Muraleedharan and Santha Muraleedharan under the banner of Anantha Vision. The makers are planning to start shooting by the first week of March in Alappuzha.
