Kayamkulam Kochunni is the current talk of the town. The movie directed by Roshan Andrews stars Nivin Pauly in the titular role. Shoot for the movie commenced by the end of last year but Mohanlal joined the team only last week. The superstar plays the role of the legendary robber Ithikkara Pakki in the movie.

Photos of Mohanlal in his mass new avatar for Pakki have been trending virally in social medias. To further add to the already existing massive huge hype, the makers have released a new photo featuring both Mohanlal and Nivin. The two are seen holding their hands together. Within a matter of few minutes, this newly released picture has gone viral in social medias.

If the location stills are anything to go by, Kayamkulam Kochunni promises to be an absolute treat for fans of both the stars. Scripted by Bobby-Sanjay, the movie is based on the life of legendary highwayman Kochunni, who was active in 19th century in the Travancore region.
As per the makers, Mohanlal as Ithikara Pakki makes his appearance at a very crucial juncture in the story and has around 40 minutes screen time. His combination scenes with Nivin Pauly would be the movie’s major highlight.

Kayamkulam Kochunni also stars Priya Anand, Sunny Wayne, Babu Antony and Kannada actress Priyanka Thimmesh. Gokulam Gopalan of Sri Gokulam Films is producing this big budget movie.

Prithviraj’s much talked about ‘Aadujeevitham’ is gearing up to go on floors. This ambitious project is directed by National award winning filmmaker Blessy. The movie is based on Benyamin’s award winning novel of the same name, which is about the life of an abused migrant worker in Saudi Arabia. It is being planned to be made simultaneously in Malayalam and Hindi languages.

Aadujeevitham is an ambitious project planned on a very big scale. Popular South Indian actress Amala Paul plays the female lead. Oscar winners AR Rahman and Resul Pookutty are part of the technical team. The former is making a comeback to Malayalam film industry after 25 long years to compose music for this movie. AR Rahman, in a recent event, said that he is very much impressed with the story which offers a lot of space for music.

The protagonist in Aadujeevitham, Najeeb Mohammed gets stranded in the middle of deserts. The lone man undergoes different experiences from seclusion, emotional conflicts and survival struggles. It is a very challenging project for AR Rahman as his music should capture the different emotional and spiritual levels of an isolated man. Reportedly, the movie will have an international score with a blend of different genres of music such as Arabic, western and Indian

Veteran Bollywood cinematographer KU Mohanan has been roped in to crank the camera. The movie is slated to go on floors on March 1. Prithviraj is currently in the process of gaining weight for his character. He will be undergoing drastic physical changes for the movie. The makers have planned to shoot the movie in various schedules through the time span of which Prithviraj will be undergoing multiple physical transformations.

We had recently reported about Jeethu Joseph entering Bollywood. The director is making his B-Town debut with a horror thriller starring Emraan Hashmi and Rishi Kapoor in the lead. This yet-to-be-titled movie is said to be the remake of an English movie. Reportedly, the makers approached Jeethu after acquiring the remake rights.

India’s leading trade analyst tweeted that this upcoming movie will be a crime thriller with elements of horror. The movie will be produced by Sunil Kheterpal and presented by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. It will be shot in a single schedule between May and July this year. More details regarding the cast and crew will be announced in the coming weeks.

Jeethu Joseph is one of the most sought after filmmakers in Mollywood. In 2013, he took the whole industry by storm with his Mohanlal starrer Drishyam. It was the highest grossing Malayalam movie of that time and was successfully remade in all major Indian languages. Jeethu himself helmed the remake in Tamil with Kamal Haasan in the lead. His Prithviraj starrer Memories, also a crime thriller, was widely acclaimed and later got remade in Tamil as Aarathu Sinam.

Jeethu’s last outing Aadhi starring Pranav Mohanlal is doing extraordinary business worldwide. Releasing on Republic Day, the movie opened to positive reviews by the critics as well as the commoners.

Mohanlal is an awesome singer and we all know that. He has lent his voice to several superhit tracks in the past. Some of his hit songs include ‘Neeyarinjo’, ‘Kaithapoovin’, ‘Karu Karu Karutthoru’ etc. The last song he rendered for a movie was ‘Attumanal Payayil’ in Joshiy’s Run Baby Run.

Much to the excitement of fans, Mohanlal is turning a singer once again. He will be lending his voice for a duet song in his upcoming movie Neerali. He will be crooning the track along with the ‘nightingale’ Shreya Goshal. This romantic track is set to tune by the movie’s composer Stephen Devassy.

Neerali, directed by Ajoy Varma, is an action thriller with ample humour and sentiments. Shoot for the movie was wrapped up last week in Mumbai. Scripted by newcomer Saju Thomas, the movie has Nadiya Moidu playing Mohanlal’s wife. The duo is sharing screen space after a gap of three long decades and so their on-screen chemistry is something very exciting to look forward to.

Parvatii Nair, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Dileesh Pothan, Nasser and Sai Kumar are also part of the supporting cast. Cinematography is by Santhosh Thundiyil and director Ajoy Varma himself is editing the movie. It is being produced by Santhosh T Kuruvilla’s Moonshot Entertainment, and co-produced by John Thomas and Mibu Jose Nettikdan. The movie is gearing up for release on the first week of May.

We had reported about noted scriptwriter Sethu turning an independent filmmaker with a Mammootty starrer. The movie titled as Oru Kuttandan Blog is a village based fun entertainer. Mammootty plays the role of Hari, a blogger who is very popular in the locality. The plot is set in a fictional village Krishnapuram in Kuttanad.

Anu Sithara, Raai Laxmi and Shamna Kasim will seen as the female leads. Shamna, who is getting rave reviews for his perfomance in the Tamil movie Savarakathi, plays the role of a police officer in Oru Kuttanadan Blog. The movie is narrated through various episodes of a blog and Shamna’s character Neena is one such episode which has elements of humour.

Oru Kuttanadan Blog has a strong supporting cast which is a mix of both veterans as well as youngsters. Nedumudi Venu, Siddique, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Jude Anthany Joseph, Sanju Sivaram and Adil Ibrahim form the cast. Another interesting aspect of the movie is that actor Unni Mukundan will be involved in it as an associate director. He has adjusted his acting assignments to assist director Sethu in this movie.

The movie will be shot extensively in Kuttanad and nearby areas. Cinematography will be handled by Pradeep Nair and ‘Idea Star Singer’ fame Sreenath is debuting as a composer with this movie. It is being produced by Muraleedharan and Santha Muraleedharan under the banner of Anantha Vision. The makers are planning to start shooting by the first week of March.

The team of Vijay 62 is currently shooting in Kolkata. They have been shooting some major portions including a high voltage car chase sequence in the city. Leading stunt master duo Ram-Lakshman have choreographed the scenes in this 3 week long shoot in Kolkata. As per latest reports, the team will be next moving to US for shooting the climax portions and a couple of songs. This US schedule will be lasting for around 20 days.

This upcoming movie directed by AR Murugadoss is highly anticipated by the audience. It is his third movie with Vijay after Thupakki and Kaththi. Both the movies were huge blockbusters and are placed in the elite 100 crore club of Kollywood. So, expectations are huge among the masses.

Vijay is sporting a new look for this movie with a closely trimmed beard and a stylish ear stud. Keerthy Suresh plays the female lead while Yogi Babu and Vikram Vedha fame Prem Kumar will be seen in supporting roles. Other cast details have not yet been revealed.

The team of Mohanlal’s upcoming movie Odiyan has been on a break for nearly two months now. The third and final schedule was supposed to start rolling this month but got pushed due to Mohanlal’s other commitments. Following that, there were reports about Odiyan getting delayed further.

However, director Shrikumar Menon has informed that the movie’s final leg of shoot will be commencing on March 5. The movie stars Mohanlal, Manju Warrier and Prakash Raj in the lead roles. In this upcoming schedule, the younger versions of the trio’s characters will be shot. All three of them will be appearing in multiple getups in the movie.

While Mohanlal plays Odiyan Manikyan, Manju Warrier essays the role of Prabha and Prakash Raj’s character is named Ravunni. The movie scripted by Harikrishnan is primarily about Odividya, a kind of black magic and people who practice it, called odiyans. The story is set in three different timelines starting from the pre-electricty days in the 1950s to 2000. The movie follows Manikyan’s life from his childhood to his 60s.

Odiyan is being made as a fantasy thriller that will have a mix of action, romance and magical realism. Around 60 days of shoot is left for the movie. Actors like Innocent, Sana Althaf, Kailas, Naren and Siddique are also part of this schedule. Aashirvad Cinemas headed by Antony Perumbavoor is funding this big budget movie.

Recently, director Ranjith Sankar announced that he is teaming up with Jayasurya for a movie titled ‘Njan Marykutty’. The director had also unveiled a title poster which evoked a lot of curiosity since the title font is written on a sanitary pad. Many had doubts if it was the remake of Akshay Kumar’s PadMan but Ranjith Sankar had clarified that his film has an entirely different plot.

All this while the makers remained tight-lipped about the actor who would be playing the eponymous role. But talks within the industry suggest that Jayasurya is playing Marykutty’s role in the movie. Reportedly, it is the story of a man a female told in a very entertaining way. It sure sounds a very promising project as Jayasurya is well known for his extraordinary acting skills.

Jayasurya-Ranjith Sankar duo have previously delivered hit films like Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam, Pretham and the Punyalan franchise. They will be looking forward to continue their successful run. Njan Marykutty is slated to go on floors by March and release it by June. More details regarding the cast and crew is expected to be officially announced very soon.

Shoot for Mammootty’s period flick Mamankam is currently progressing in Mangalore. The movie is being directed by Sajeev Pillai, Mamankam marks the directorial debut of Sajeev Pillai, a former associate of Adoor Gopalakrishnan. He scripted the movie after doing extensive research works for nearly 12 years.

The movie is based on the medieval fair, Mamankam, where brave warriors from across the country would come together to showcase their skills at combat. Mammootty plays a ‘Chaaver’ (warrior) in this movie, which revolves around the life of these warriors who plot to defeat the Zamorin rulers.

Venu Kunnampilly of Kavya Films is funding this big budget project. The makers had informed that some big stars from other industries will be part of the movie. The female lead’s part will be played by a Bollywood actress while a young star from Tamil industry will be seen as the second hero. However, the makers have not yet revealed their names officially.

Last day, a photo of Mammootty with Kannada superstar Sudeep surfaced online which soon triggered talks about the two acting together in Mamankam. The possibility is certainly high as Sudeep is a well known actor in the South. Since the movie will be dubbed in all major Indian languages, the makers would love to have a popular actor like Sudeep on board.

Neeraj Madhav, ‘Queen’ fame Dhruv, Sunil Sukhada, Meghanathan and Sohan Seenulal are already part of the supporting cast. An official announcement with details regarding the full cast will be made only after the first leg of shoot is over.

The movie’s technical crew includes some big names. Action sequences is choreographed by Kaecha Kampakdee known for his works in movies like Baahubali 2, Thuppakki, Bhaagi etc. VFX works is headed by RC Kamala Kannan, who has worked in several high profile projects in South Indian cinema. Ganesh Rajavelu aka Jim Ganesh is the cinematographer and M Jayachandran has been signed as the composer. Full fledged shoot for the movie will begin only by May.

Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan is establishing himself as a pan-Indian actor with a handful of films in various languages. His debut Hindi film ‘Karwaan’ is due for release in June. If reports are to be believed, the actor has signed for another film in Bollywood. He will be playing the lead along with Sonam Kapoor in the big screen adaptation of Anuja Chauhan’s 2008 novel The Zoya Factor.

The novel revolves around a PR executive Zoya Singh Solanki, who was born on the exact moment when Indian had lifted the 1983 World Cup. Zoya is considered as a lucky charm by the Indian team as well as the media. But, the team’s captain, Nikhil Khoda doesn’t believe in luck and relies on performance. Zoya keeps clashing with the Indian skipper, and what follows is a love-hate relationship.

Abhishek Sharma will be directing the movie. The rights to adapt the novel have been bagged by Aarti and Pooja Shetty. Reportedly, Dulquer is playing Nikhil Zoya’s role in the movie adaptation. He is planning to take a month long training for playing the cricketer’s role. He is currently shooting in Chennai for his Tamil movie Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithaal, which is nearing completion.
