Geostorm releasing on October 27 in centres all across Kerala

Geostorm is an American disaster science-fiction action film directed by Dean Devlin. The film stars Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Alexandra Maria Lara, Richard Schiff, Robert Sheehan, Daniel Wu, Eugenio Derbez, Ed Harris and Andy García in major roles.

Warner Bros will be releasing the movie in the United States on October 20 in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D. In Kerala, the movie will lock horns with superstar Mohanlal’s Villain as the both are releasing on the same day, on October 27.

Geostorm’s plot follows a satellite designer who tries to save the world from a storm of epic proportions caused by malfunctioning climate controlling satellites. The movie marks the feature film directorial debut of Dean Devlin.

He has also co-written the movie along with Paul Gyot. Dean has earlier co-written popular films like Independence Day, Godzilla and last year’s Independence Day: Resurgence. The director has jointly produced Geostorm along with Dana Goldberg and David Ellison. Roberto Schaefer is handling the cinematography and Lorne Balfe is in charge of the music department.

Geostorm is funded jointly by Warner Bros. Pictures, Skydance Media and Electric Entertainment.

Shoot for Fahadh Faasil-Vijay Sethupathi movie to commence in January

Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi are two of the finest actors currently in South India. Both these actors have established themselves as bankable stars in their respective industries courtesy their terrific acting skills. Fahadh is now making his inroads to Tamil film industry after bagging three back to back biggies. Interestingly, all these films are multistarrers and two of them will have share screen space with Vijay Sethupathi.

The duo is a part of National award winner Thyagarajan Kumararaja’s upcoming movie titled as Super Deluxe. The movie is said to be an anthology of five different stories. Apart from these two actors, the movie also stars Samantha, Gayathrie, Mysskin and yesteryear actress Nadia Moidu. Shoot for the film is halfway and is expected to release early next year.

The exciting film in which Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil will be working together is directed by the legendary Mani Ratnam. The director has pulled off a casting coup of sorts by roping in a plethora of stars. Arvind Swamy, Simbu, Jyothika, Aishwarya Rajesh also play major roles in the movie.

This is apparently a mega budget movie and Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies is funding it. Shoot for this yet-to-be-titled movie will be commencing on January second week. The movie will be shot in four schedules at four different locations. The ace filmmaker has also brought on board his regular set of technicians- composer AR Rahman, cinematographer Santhosh Sivan and editor Sreekar Prasad.

Recently, Mohanlal made a surprise announcement about his next project after the ongoing Odiyan. Ajoy Varma, a former associate of Gopal Varma and Rajiv Anchal is making his Malayalam debut with this upcoming movie. He has previously directed a Hindi movie titled SRK.

As per latest reports, Meena and Trisha will be playing the female leads in the movie. Meena shares a wonderful chemistry with Mohanlal as she has worked with him in several films. Their last outing together was in Munthirivallikal Thalirukkumbol, in which they played a middle-aged couple.

This upcoming movie will be Trisha’s second Malayalam film. The South Indian beauty is making her M-Town debut this year with Nivin Pauly’s Hey Jude, directed by Shyamaprasad. Veteran actor Prakash Raj has also been roped in to play a prominent role in the Ajoy Varma film. He is also playing an integral part in Mohanlal’s Odiyan.

Newcomer Saju Thomas has scripted this movie, a thriller which will be shot majorly outside Kerala. Apparently, Mohanlal is very excited about this project as he squeezed dates for the movie in between his busy schedule. Mumbai, Pune, Sri Lanka and Thailand have been finalized as the major locations. This big budget movie is being produced by Santhosh T Kuruvilla’s Moonshot Entertainment and co-produced by John Thomas and Mibu Jose Nettikadan. The makers are planning to start shoot in December and release it by May next year.

Mohanlal is currently busy shooting for Odiyan, directed by VA Shrikumar Menon. Priyadarshan’s multilingual mass entertainer, actor Prithviraj’s directorial debut Lucifer and VA Shrikumar Menon’s magnum opus Mahabharatha are some of his other projects in the pipeline.

Malayalam cinema’s hot and happening star Prithviraj is turning 35 today. The star has been getting birthday wishes from fans, well wishers and colleagues all across the globe. After Mammootty, the other big M of Mollywood, Mohanlal has also wished Prithvi through his social media handle.

Just like how it is with Mammootty, Prithviraj also shares a great bond with Mohanlal. After years of speculations, the duo is finally teaming up next year for the much hyped Lucifer. Prithviraj is making his directorial debut with this movie starring Mohanlal in the lead role. Actor/writer Murali Gopy is penning the film, which will be produced by Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas.

Lucifer is perhaps the most awaited movie of a debutant director. As we all know, Prithviraj has a very sound knowledge on the technical aspects of filmmaking. He has assured that they will be trying to utilize the maximum out of Mohanlal, the phenomenal actor and the star, in Lucifer.

So, fans of both these actors as well as the common cine-lovers of the state are eagerly waiting for this movie. Lucifer is scheduled to go on floors this May next year after both of them are free from their respective commitments.

Sensational young music composer Anirudh Ravichander is celebrating his 27th birthday today. As a birthday treat for his fans, the song teaser from his upcoming Suirya starrer Thaanaa Serndha Koottam was released today midnight. The song ‘Sodakku’ is a fast pacy number, probably the introduction song of Suirya’s character.

The video teaser had some making shots along with crowd performing the ‘Sodakku’ step. Apart from Suriya’s charm, what caught everyone’s eyes was the presence of Sheril, the ‘Jimikki Kammal’ girl. Sheril, who won scores of hearts with her dance perfomance, is a professor in the Indian school of commerce, Kochi.

Sheril and her group’s dance performance for the Jimikki Kammal song went viral all across social medias. She soon became an overnight sensation, especially in Tamil Nadu where youngsters even created fan pages for her. Within a few days, Sheril became immensely popular and was even invited for interviews in many leading Tamil online portals. Reportedly, movie offers also came by her way but she has not yet taken up any.

It is a great promotional tactic by the team of Thaana Serndha Koottam team to include Sheril in the promo video. The movie directed by Vignesh Shivan stars Keerthy Suresh as the female lead.
It also has a strong supporting cast which includes Ramya Krishnan, Kalaiarasan, Sathyan, popular comedian Senthil, Saranya Ponvannan, Kovai Sarala, KS Ravikumar, RJ Balaji, Anandraj and Thambi Ramaiah among others.

This action-comedy entertainer produced by Studio Green is scheduled to hit screens in January, next year.

Fans, well wishers and colleagues from all parts of the world are pouring in their birthday wishes for Prithviraj. Megastar Mammootty also wished Prithvi through his official social media handle.

The two stars share a good rapport and have great mutual respect for each other. Recently on Mammootty’s birthday, the yougster took to his Facebook page to share one of their photos from Pokkiriraja. Along with that he had also mentioned about his eagerness to act with Mammootty again.

Talks about the stars coming together has been doing the rounds for sometime now. The duo have acted together in Vysakh’s superhit mass entertainer Pokkiri Raja. With Prithviraj hinting about working up with Mammootty again, there are chances of him also being a part of Raja 2, the sequel of Pokkiri Raja which was announced earlier this year. However, the makers are yet to give a confirmation about Prithvi acting in the movie.

On similar lines, writer-director Sachy recently revealed that he has pitched an idea for a dual hero subject to both these stars. While Prithviraj has given a ‘go ahead’, he is still waiting for a confirmation from Mammootty’s side.

Let’s hope either of these projects materializes so that we get to see both these fine actors sharing screen space once again.

Mohanlal’s Villain is releasing this 27th and the fans are all excited about that. This B Unnikrishnan directorial is one of the most awaited movies of the year. While most Malayalam movies have their overseas release only after a month, Villain will be hitting screens in UAE and GCC within a week, on November 2. Scores of Malayali cine audience in the gulf regions are delighted with this news. UAE based Phars Films have bagged the movie’s distribution rights in this region.

Apart from Mohanlal, Villain also stars other popular actors like Manju Warrier, Vishal, Hansika Motwani Srikanth and Raashi Khanna. It is a crime featuring Mohanalal as a police officer and Vishal as a doctor. Manju Warrier plays Mohanla’s wife in the movie. Director B Unnikrishnan has said that Villain is not a loud mass masala entertainer, it is an emotional thriller which follows a serious mood.

Apart from a star studded cast, the movie also has a renowned set of technicians associated with it. Cinematography is done by Manoj Paramahamsa and NK Ekambaram. The entire movie is shot in 8K resolution, which, according to the makers, is a first in South India. Songs are composed by Oppam fame 4 Musics while Ezra fame handles the background score. Shameer Mohammed of Charlie and Angamaly Diaries fame is in charge of the edits. Rockline Films is making their entry to Mollywood by funding this big budget movie.

Biju Menon’s next movie titled as Orayiram Kinakkalal

2017 has been a great year for Biju Menon. The veteran actor has had four releases till now – Rakshadhikari Baiju, Lakshyam, Sherlock Toms and Lavakusha. Rakshadhikari Baiju was a superhit success while Lakshyam was an average grosser. The other two films are still running successfully in theatres. The busy actor has a slew of projects lined up for the upcoming season.

He is currently shooting in Kodaikanal for Rosapoo, directed by Vinu Joseph, a former associate of Rajeev Ravi. After the completion of Rosapoo, he will be joining the sets of Pramod Mohan’s debut film titled as Orayiram Kinakkalal. The director has previously helmed the popular sitcom, Chumma – Just Fun.

Orayiram Kinakkalal, as the title suggests, is a film all about a thousand dreams. The story is based on the dreams of a set of people and the short cuts they take in life to to fulfill it. As per the director, Orayiram Kinakkalal is a comedy thriller with a lot of situational humour.

Biju Menon plays the character Sreeram, a UK returnee who wants to settle down in Kochi with his wife and kid. Mudhugauv fame Sharu P Varghese is playing the female lead in the movie. Renji Panicker, Kalabhavan Shajon, Hareesh Kanaran, Nirmal Palazhi, Thesni Khan and many others are part of the supporting cast. The movie will go on floors by the first week of December in Kochi.

Biju Menon has also signed for a Jeethu Joseph directorial titled as Thaskaran, which is based on the book Thaskaran: Maniyan Pillayude Aathmakatha. The movie is inspired from a real life robber Maniyan Pillai.

Vijay’s Mersal is all set to storm screens worldwide on October 18 as a grand Diwali release. Mersal, directed by Atlee, is Vijay’s career hype film and naturally is getting ready as his biggest release ever. A record breaking opening is expected for the movie. Meanwhile, the movie has created yet another record in YouTube.

The official teaser of Mersal has fetched a whopping 1 million likes, the most for any movie teaser worldwide. The 1.16 second video has also clocked 28 million views ever since it was update on September 21st. Eventhough such social media craze looks strange for a common audience, it is very instrumental in publishing the movie. In this age of social medias, teaser and trailer records have a massive impact on the movie’s overall performance.

Mersal marks Vijay’s reunion with director Atlee after the 2016 blockbuster Theri. From the promos, Mersal looks like a clean paisa vasool mass entertainer that appeals to audience of all age groups.
