Shoot for Thala Ajith’s highly anticipated upcoming movie Vivegam was wrapped up last day. Post production works were simultaneously underway as the team is eyeing to release the movie on August 10.

Vivegam marks director Siva’s third film with Ajith after Veeram and Vedhalam. Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi is reportedly playing the antagonist in the film. The actor is very excited about the project. Recently, after finishing his portions for the movie, Vivek Oberoi in his social media space wrote that he had a memorable experience working with Ajith and Vivegam team.

His tweet reads,

Vivegam is Vivek Oberoi’s debut Tamil film and he is lucky to get an opportunity to act alongside such a big star like Ajith. Vivek Oberoi has previously played a negative role in Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish 3 where his performance was highly appreciated by the critics.

Vivegam is a spy thriller in which Ajith is rumoured to be playing the role of a RAW agent. He has undergone a terrific make over for the movie by shedding down a lot of extra pounds. The movie is being made on a whopping budget of Rs 120 crores. It was shot across the globe in countries like Romania, Albania, Bulgaria and Serbia. This big budget movie is produced by Satya Jyothi Films.

Kajal Agarwal is playing the female lead while Kamal Haasan’s younger daughter Akshara Haasan is also playing a pivotal character. Vetri has handled the cinematography and young sensation Anriudh Ravichander has composed the music.

Dhyan Sreenivasan’s debut directorial starring Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara titled as Love Action Drama

Reports about Dhyan Sreenivasan’s directorial plans have been doing the rounds for sometime now. The youngster is following his brother Vineeth Sreenivasan’s path and will be making his debut as a director this year.

Dhyan’s debut movie will have Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara in the lead roles. The movie has been titled as Love Action Drama. Official launch was event held today in Crowne Plaza, Kochi. Nivin, Shaan Rahman, Sreenivasan, Dhyan and many others were present for the function.

Nivin Pauly is playing the role of Dineshan and Nayanthara’s character is named as Shobha. It is worth a mention that these are the character names of the lead actors in the yesteryear superhit movie Vadakkunokkiyanthram, directed by Sreenivasan.

It looks like Dhyan is planning to make a spoof. He has earlier mentioned about his idea to make a spoof but later dropped the idea after the release of Chirakodinja Kinavukal, Mollywood’s only spoof film till date.

This will be the first time where Nivin and Nayanthara will be sharing screen space. So expectations are bound to sky-high anong the audience. Aju Varghese is venturing into production by funding this movie along with Vishak Subramanian. Shaan Rahman will be handling the music department. Shoot for the movie is expected to commence by the end of this year. It is scheduled to release for next year’s summer.

Second schedule of Mammootty’s Masterpiece starts rolling in Kozhikode

It’s already known that Mammootty is playing the lead in Rajadhiraja fame Ajai Vasudev’s upcoming movie, speculated to be titled as Masterpiece. The team had been shooting in a college in Kollam for over a month before taking a schedule break. The second and final leg of shooting commenced in Kozhikode recently.

Masterpiece is a campus based mass thriller written by Udhayakrishna, his next after the blockbuster success of Pulimurugan. Mammootty is playing the role of Edward Livingston aka Eddy, an English professor. A stellar cast is part of this film. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Unni Mukundan will be seen as police officers in the film. Other supporting cast includes Gokul Suresh, Mahima Nambiar, Poonam Bajwa, Mukesh, Salim Kumar, Maqbool Salmaan, Kalabhavan Shajon and Santhosh Pandit among others.

Vinod Ilampally is handling the camera while Deepak Dev will be composing the music. Royal Cinemas owned by CH Muhammed is producing this movie.
Earlier, there were reports that the movie will hit screens for Onam season but the makers have pushed the release date further and are eyeing to release it for the Pooja holidays.

Basheerinte Premalekhanam; Aneesh Anwar’s next after Kumbasaram gearing up for release

Director Aneesh Anwar’s Basheerinte Premalekhanam is gearing up for release. The movie features Njan Steve Lopez fame Farhaan Faasil and Mariyamukku fame Sana Althaf in the lead roles. Veteran actors Madhu and Sheela are also playing pivotal parts in the movie.

Aneesh Anwar is noted for his films like Kumbasaram and Zachariyayude Garbhinikal. Both the movies were intense emotional dramas. Unlike these films, Basheerinte Premalekhanam will be a romantic-comedy. The songs and promo trailer has already created a buzz in social medias.

Basheerinte Premalekhanam has a novel plot set in the 1980s. The story evolves after the arrival of an Onida TV to a fictional village. A huge supporting which includes Joy Mathew, Harish Kanaran, Aju Varghese, Shanavas, Manikandan Achari, Sreejith Ravi, Sohan Seenulal, Sunil Sugatha and Sivaji Guruvayoor are part of this movie.

Basheerinte Premalekhanam is written jointly by Shinod Sivam, Bipin K Paulose and Shamseer Ahamed. Vishnu Mohan Sithara’s songs have struck a chord with the audience and are already very popular. The movie’s cinematography is handled by 20-year-old Sanjay Harris. Notably, he is the youngest cameraman in the history of Malayalam cinema.

Basheerinte Premalekhanam is produced by P M Harris and Mohammed Althaf under the banner Fort Entertainment. An official word regarding the release date is expected to be announced in the coming days.

Post her much talked about comeback, Manju Warrier has been getting some great offers. She is the go-to-choice for female oriented movies and now she is all set to make a mark in the Tamil film industry. Director Arivazhagan, a former assistant to Shankar, has approached Manju for his next, which is reportedly an action thriller.

Arivazhagan is known for his films like Eeram, Vallinam, Aarathu Sinam (remake of Memories) and the recently released superhit movie Kuttram 23. His next movie will be a woman centric action thriller and he is hopeful of getting Manju on board for the film. The busy actress is currently busy with multiple projects and she is working out on her dates for Arivazhagan’s movie.

In a recent interview, the director opened up on why he chose to cast Manju as the female protagonist. Apparently, he wanted someone who can pull off bold characters and it’s a performance oriented one. Arivazhagan has watched most of Manju’s films and he beleives she has the capability to do justice to his script.

Manju has been convinced and she is expected to sign the dotted lines very soon. More details regarding the other cast members will be finalized once Manju allots her dates. SS Thaman will be handling the music department and Bhaskar will be cranking the camera.

Manju Warrier meanwhile has a number of projects lined up. She has completed shooting for debutant Phantom Praveen’s Udhaharanam Sujatha and B Unnikrishnan-Mohanlal team’s Villain. She is currently working on IDI fame Sajid Yahiya’s Mohanlal, which stars Indrajith as the male lead. Another biggie in her kitty is the upcoming fantasy drama Odiyan in which she will be sharing screen space with the likes of Mohanlal and Prakash Raj.

Mohanlal-B Unnikrishnan team’s Villain is in the final stages of production and is expected to hit screens very soon. The movie is highly anticipated by the audience for it involves some big names in it’s team. Tamil star Vishal, Hansika Motwani, Manju Warrier, Srikanth and Raashi Khanna play prominent roles in this film, touted to be a crime thriller.

The makers have released a new poster from the movie via Mohanlal’s official Facebook page. This poster features Mohanlal and Vishal pitted against each other. It is widely reported that Vishal, who is making his debut in Malayalam, is playing the antagonist in this movie. Reportedly, he is playing the role of a doctor and he will be seen sporting two different looks in the film.

Manju Warrier is playing the role of Mohanlal’s wife and Raashi Khanna will be seen as a police officer. Mohanlal’s character is named as Mathew Manjooran who is also a cop. He will be appearing in two looks; a salt n pepper bearded one and a clean-shaven one, believed to be his look in the flashback portions.

Villain marks director B Unnikrishnan’s fourth time collaboration with Mohanlal after Madampi, Grandmaster and Mr Fraud. The director has roped in an ensemble line up of technicians for the movie. Camera is cranked by Manoj Paramahamsa and it is said to be the first Indian movie to be completely shot and released in 8K resolution.

Background score is handled by Ezra fame Sushin Shyam. Songs in the movie are composed by Oppam fame 4 Musics. Rockline Venkatesh is making his entry to Mollywood by producing this big budget movie. An official word regarding the release date is expected to be announced soon.

Tiyaan Review : A blend of fantasy and politics

Tiyaan, the much awaited multistarrer scripted by Murali Gopy has finally hit screens today. This Jiyen Krishnakumar directorial was publicised as a Pan-Indian movie and it is true to some extent. The movie’s setting and the issues discussed here transcend boundaries. But unfortunately the movie lacks an effective screenplay to leave an impact with the audience.

The plot is set in a North Indian village near Badrinath. The area is inhabited by Keralites, who are the followers of Shankaracharya. Indrajith’s character Pattabhiraman is a Vedic scholar who is also a resident of this village. Trouble crops up when God man Mahasay Bhaghavan builds an ashram in this area. With the arrival of his ashram, people are forced to evict out of their land. The movie is about Pattabhiraman’s fight for survival against the powerful and how a mysterious third person Aslan Mohammed influences him in this fight.

All the three lead actors- Prithviraj, Indrajith and Murali Gopy have given good performances. Prithviraj has two looks in this movie. While younger part was a cakewalk for an actor of his calibre, the older one with a sane aura was more challenging and Prithviraj was up to the task. Like always, Indrajith has delivered a very balanced performance without any major blips. Murali Gopy as a God Man had an unique character to play and he was convincing enough with his looks and body language. The support cast is quite big but they didn’t have much to do as their screen time was largely restricted.

Murali Gopy’s writing lacked the punch and character-detailing that we usually expect from his scripts. He has infused several elements into this plot and most of them are very relevant in today’s scenario. Director Jiyen Krishnakumar has translated exactly what’s written on paper to big screen with the help of some seasoned performers and technicians.

Technically, Tiyaan is a quality product with some fantastic visuals from DOP Satheesh Kurup. Gopi Sunder’s background score was also good and CG works were okayish.

The Jab Tak Hai Jaan trio of Shah Rukh, Anushka and Katrina Kaif is teaming up once again for this movie, rumoured to be titled as Katrina Meri Jaan. Grapevine suggests that the film is about a small town man’s long time wish to meet his Bollywood idol. Anushka Sharma is said to be playing the role of a mentally challenged girl.

Anand L Rai is popular for his movies like Tanu Weds Manu, Raanjhanaa and Tanu Weds Manu: Returns. This upcoming movie with SRK is slated for a Christmas 2018 release.

Kerala Box Office: Role Models 9 Days Collection Report

Fahadh Faasil starrer Role Models hit screens on 25 June as an Eid release. The movie, written and directed by Raffi opened to mixed reports from all the release centres in Kerala. Critics rated it as a half baked but watchable movie.

Role Models promised to be a fun filled entertainer but lost it’s plot in the second half with some uninspiring moments. The story is about how the protagonist Gautham, played by Fahadh Faasil, takes off to Goa to learn to take life lightly, with his friends. Vinayakan, Sharafudheen and Vinay Forrt play Fahadh college mates in the movie. It stars Namitha Pramod as the female lead. She plays as an adventure sports trainer and is seen in a different makeover in this movie

According to latest reports from our trade sources, Role Models has managed to gross Rs 4.46 crores from it’s 9 days theatrical run in the state. The figures suggest a mediocre run and with other new releases like Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum getting good reports, it will be hard for Role Models to hold on.

Srinda Arhaan, Renji Panicker, Seetha, Raffi and many other supporting actors are also part of the cast. Gopi Sunder has handled the music department and Shamdat Sainudeen has cranked the camera. The movie is produced by GP Vijayakumar under the banner of Seven Arts.
