Vinayan lashes out hard at Innocent

Association Of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) is currently in a spot of bother after it’s stand in the actress assault case was severely criticised by the medias and the public. Even members within the association have expressed their displeasure in how the issue is being handled.

Adding more salt to the wound, AMMA President and MP Innocent made a controversial remark against female actors during a recent media interaction. When one of the journalists asked Innocent about actress Paravthy’s revelation about the existence of casting couch in Malayalam film industry, he declined it by saying that those are things of the past now and Malayalam film industry is clean today. However, he added that bad women may share bed.

He said, “Those days are long gone. The situation today is that, the moment anyone makes any such attempt, medias will know it immediately. But if the woman is bad, they may share bed.”

Director Vinayan, who has a long standing issue with AMMA has come out hard at Innocent through a note in his Facebook page. Vinayan has written, “Innocent has repeatedly humiliated actresses who have shown the guts to talk in open about the discrimination in Malayalam film industry. Your response to medias’ question about Parvathy’s statement was offensive and criminal. Before making such sexist remarks, you should also remember that you are not just AMMA’s president but also a public representative. Please don’t believe that comedy can save you everytime.”

Innocent, meanwhile has clarified about his controversial remarks with a Facebook post. He has written that his words were twisted and misinterpreted by the medias. The veteran has also assured that AMMA will always be there to oppose any sort of discrimination against women.

Nivin Pauly has extended his fan base outside Kerala considerably in the past two years. He is very popular among the Tamil audience thanks to the success of his movies like Neram, Premam, Action Hero Biju etc.

Behindwoods, a leading online portal based in Kollywood industry, recently held their annual awards show in Chennai. Dulquer Salmaan, Nivin Pauly and Sai Pallavi represented the Malayalam industry. While Dulquer won the award for Best Actor (Critics Choice) for his performance in Kammattipaadam, Nivin won the award for Best Actor In a Lead Role for his performance in Jacobinte Swargarajyam and Action Hero Biju.

Interestingly, it was Dulquer who presented the award to Nivin Pauly. After receiving the award, Nivin expressed his gratitude to the audience for the constant support. He added that there were more worthy and better performances in Mollywood last year. So, he dedicated his award to Manikandan Achari and Vinayakan, both of whom were terrific in Rajeev Ravi’s widely acclaimed Kammattipaadam.

Vinayakan and debutant Manikandan Achari won numerous awards last year including the Kerala State Award, best actor and best second actor respectively. It is a truly appreciable gesture from Nivin to dedicate his awards to two lesser known actors and admit that they were the better performers.

Pranav Mohanlal-Jeethu Joseph movie launched today; Titled as Aadhi

The official launch event of Mohanlal’s Odiyan and his son Pranav’s much awaited debut movie was launched today in Trivandrum. The function was attended by many celebrities, politicians and medias. Crew members of both the movies were present for the launch event.

Pranav Mohanlal’s debut movie as a lead actor with director Jeethu Joseph has been titled as Aadhi. The first look motion poster of the movie was screened at today’s event. Aadhi is being produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas. They are planning to kick-start the movie’s shoot this month itself.

Director Jeethu Joseph had revealed that his upcoming movie with Pranav will be an action thriller on the lines of his own superhit film Memories. Pranav has been undergoing training in Parkour, a form of physical training, as the movie has a lot of action sequences. Parkour is a kind of acrobatic training that involves crossing obstacles by running, climbing, jumping, rolling and swinging.

The movie will be shot extensively in Kochi and Bangalore. Satheesh Kurup will be cranking the camera. Jeethu Joseph’s regular Anil Johnson is composing the music and Ayoob Khan will handle the edits. More details regarding the other cast members is expected to be announced in the coming days.

Ever since it’s release today mornings, Aadhi’s first look motion poster has been trending virally in social medias. This is perhaps the biggest reception for a newcomer’s film. Mohanlal fans have been eagerly waiting for Pranav’s entry to the industry and let’s hope Pranav can live up to the sky-high expectations.

Fahadh Faasil is getting appreciation from all corners for his marvelous performance in Dileesh Pothan’s Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum. His next release this year will be his Tamil debut film Velaikaaran, directed by Mohan Raja. Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara are playing the lead roles and Fahadh will be seen as the antagonist.

He has also committed for another Tamil movie with Thiagarajan Kumararaja, who won the National award for his debut movie Aaranya Kaandam. It is an anthology of five different short films. Vijay Sethupathy is playing the lead role in one while another features actress Nadia Moidu in the central character. Fahadh Faasil and Samantha Ruth Prabhu are playing the protagonists in another segment.

Thiagarajan Kumararaja is all praise for Fahadh. In a recent interview, he revealed how he was mighty impressed by Fahadh’s performance. He is quoted saying, “I was completely blown away because I didn’t expect him to be so well-prepared. I believe he has the potential to make it big in Tamil too.”

The makers have remained tight lipped about the project though shooting spot stills revealed Vijay Sethupathy in a woman’s look. Fahadh’s is an urban character. He has not undergone any major makeover for the film. The makers are also trying to get Fahadh to dub for his portions in Tamil.

Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s debut movie Aaranya Kaandam enjoys a cult status and is considered as one of Indian cinema’s finest movies in recent years. Expectations are soaring high considering an acclaimed director calling the shots for one of the most talented actors currently in South India.

Pranav Mohanlal’s entry to the film industry was long awaited by the Malayali audience. He is finally making his debut as a lead actor with Jeethu Joseph’s next. The movie was launched today in Trivandrum and it has been titled as Aadhi.

Young star Dulquer Salmaan has come out wishing Pranav for his new venture. In his Facebook page, Dulquer has mentioned about how Pranav has been working hard for his role. He has written,

“Wishing my dearest Appu (Pranav Mohanlal) the very best for the first day of shoot for his new film !! I know how hard he’s been working on his stunts and everything. It’s going to be a real treat for everyone !! You’re gonna rock and we all know it ??❤❤”

Last day we had reported that Vysakh, after the record breaking success of Pulimurugan, will be next teaming up with Nivin Pauly. According to reports, this upcoming will be a mass entertainer in which Nivin Pauly will be seen as a police officer.

Reportedly, Pulimurugan scribe Udhayakrishna is scripting this Nivin Pauly starrer and Vaishaka Rajan will be producing this movie. If it turns out to be true, this will be Nivin Pauly’s second film as a police officer after the superhit movie Action Hero Biju. The movie, directed by Abrid Shine was a realistic take on the day to day life of a police inspector. On the other hand, Vysakh is known for his mass masala movies with larger than life protagonists and hence his upcoming movie with Nivin is also expected to be on similar lines.

Earlier this year, Vysakh had revealed about his future projects with Mammootty, Mohanlal, Jayaram, Dileep and Dulquer Salmaan. There were no hints about a movie with Nivin Pauly, so when reports started doing the rounds in social medias, it came as a big surprise to the audience. However, neither Nivin nor Vysakh have officially confirmed the news.

Meanwhile, Nivin Pauly has many others other projects in his kitty. He is currently busy shooting for Geetu Mohandas’ Moothon. His first straight Tamil movie Richie is expected to hit screens soon. His next release in Malayalam will be Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela, directed by Premam fame Althaf.

Apart from that, he has also committed for two other movies in Tamil; both with debutant filmmakers, Hey Jude with Shyamaprasad and Rosshan Andrews’ movie based on the life of Kayamkulam Kochunni, written by Bobby-Sanjay.

For his upcoming movie Vimaanam, Prithviraj has once again reduced his weight. He is playing the role of a deaf and mute person in the movie. He plays different life stages of the protagonist, who is a high school dropout. Since the film traverses through different stages, the actor had to sport distinct looks.

Prithviraj had shot for some portions during the first schedule that was held few months back. The second leg of shoot commenced recently and he looks a lot leaner now. There are also reports about the actor enrolling for flying classes as his character in the movie demanded such skills.

Vimaanam, directed by debutant Pradeep M Nair is inspired from the life of a hearing and speech impaired person Saji Thomas, who built an aircraft on his own. The movie is not a biopic on Saji’s life. It will have a beautiful romantic track also and newbie Durga Krishna is playing the female lead.

Nedumudi Venu, Lena, Aanandam fame Anarkali Marikar, Alencier Ley, Praveena, Sudheer Karamana, Saiju Kurup, Shanthi Krishna and many other prominent actors are also part of the cast. Vimaanam, produced by Listin Stephen is being made on a big canvas involving a lot of VFX works for the flying scenes.

The first look poster of Mohanlal’s Odiyan was released yesterday and it has been trending virally across all social media platforms. Odiyan is a fantasy drama written by National award winner Harikrishnan. The movie marks the directorial debut of ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon.

Mohanlal is seen in a clean shaven look in the poster and it is reported that he will have multiple looks in the film. It was revealed that Mohanlal is playing the role of Odiyan Manikyan and will be portraying the character from the age 30 to 65.

Odiyan is a thriller that will have a mix of action, romance and magical realism. Odiyan is named after a man who is mastered in odividya. The movie is primarily about Odividya, a black magic trick used to counter the enemies.

Director VA Shrikumar Menon, in a recent interview, said that the movie’s major attraction will be it’s action-packed sequences. There are five riveting action scenes in the movie and it will be choreographed by Peter Hein. The stunts and songs will be weaved in as part of the narrative. Extensive special effects will also be required for the movie and the markers are planning to take nearly six months for the post production works alone.

Sabu Cyril is in charge of the production design for this big budget movie. Shaji Kumar will be wielding the camera and Sreekar Prasad will handle the edits. M Jayachandran is composing the music. Manju Warrier is playing the female lead and veteran actor Prakash Raj will be seen in the antagonist’s role.

Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas is bankrolling Odiyan. Pollachi, Kollencode, Hyderabad and Banaras have been finalized as the major locations.

As per latest reports, Njandukalude Naattil Oridevala will finally hit screens this Onam season. The movie stars debutante Aishwarya Lekshmi as the female lead. Njan Steve Lopez fame Ahaana Krishna is playing the other female lead.

Lal is playing Nivin’s father in the movie. Srinda Arhaan will be seen as Nivin’s twin sister and Siju Wilson plays her husband’s role. Premam actors Sharafudheen and Krishna Sankar are also part of the cast. Nivin Pauly is producing the movie under his banner Pauly Jr Pictures.

Finally putting an end to all rumours, Pranav’s debut movie as a lead actor with director Jeethu Joseph will be launched tomorrow. The customary Pooja function for Pranav’s movie and Mohanlal’s Odiyan will held together at Trivandrum tomorrow.

Both the movies are produced by Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas. Odiyan is a big budget fantasy drama that marks the debut directorial of noted ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon.
