Here’s the release date of Fahadh Faasil’s Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum

Fahadh Faasil- Dileesh Pothen duo’s Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum is one of the most awaited movies of the year. They are teaming up once again after the widely acclaimed Maheshinte Prathikaram.

The movie is slated to hit screens on June 28. Earlier, it was announced that the movie would be an Eid release – paving way for a face off with the much anticipated movie Tiyaan starring Prithviraj and Indrajith in the lead roles.

Suraj Venjaramoodu is essaying a pivotal character in Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum. The intriguing first look poster featured him along with Fahadh. Other supporting actors include Alencier Ley Lopez, Soubin Shahir, Vettikili Sreekanth Murali, Prathap. Many newcomers are also part of the cast just like Dileesh Pothen’s debut movie.

Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum is produced by Sandeep Senan, Aneesh M Thomas under the banner Urvashi Theatres. Story and screenplay for the movie is written by Sajeev Pazhoor.

Popular cinematographer/filmmaker Rajeev Ravi has cranked the camera for this movie. Bijibal has handled the music department while Kiran Das is roped is in charge of the edits. The success of Dileesh- Fahadh’s earlier movie Maheshinte Prathikaram has pinned high expectations on Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum.

The Great Father was the most hyped Mammootty starrer in recent years. The movie, directed by Haneef Adeni had humongous expectations ever since the posters and promos were released. And a prestigious production house like August Cinemas funding it further increased the anticipation levels.

The movie was finally released after months of awaiting wait on March 30. True to the hype, The Great Father opened to massive response from the megastar’s scores of fans. It was soon officially announced that The Great Father emerged as the highest grosser in Kerala toppling superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali.

However, what followed the official announcement was a series of allegations that the reports were bloated. There were widespread talks in social medias over the authenticity of these reports. Now, actor Arya who is also one of the producers of the movie clarified about the doubts regarding the movie’s collection.

Arya has said that The Great Father had the biggest ever release in Kerala in terms of screen count. All the shows on the opening day were housefull and hence the movie emerged as the highest first day grosser in the state. According to the reports that they got, The Great Father is the only Mammootty starrer in recent times that could be enjoyed by the fans and family alike. He feels satisfied to be part of such a movie both as an actor and as a producer. Arya also added that the August Cinemas team is happy about producing a widely discussed movie and not just a commercially successful venture.

Arya played the pivotal role of Andrews Eapen, a police officer in the movie. His role had equal prominence to that of Mammootty’s and their face off is one of the major highlights of the movie. Arya produced the movie along with Prithviraj Sukumaran, Santhosh Sivan and Shaji Nadesan under their banner August Cinemas.

Actress Malavika Nair is on cloud nine after she cleared the higher secondary exams with full A+. Malavika is a student of Vivekodayam Boys Higher Secondary School in Thrissur. She scored a full 600 out of 600 marks in the +2 exams.

It is an incredible achievement for someone to concentrate on studies while doing movies regularly. An elated Malavika shared this happy news with her followers through her official Facebook page.

She wrote,

“+2 results came got 600/600 this year

Kerala Box Office: Baahubali 2 Collection Report 17 Days

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is unstoppable at the box office. The movie continues to do massive business without any dip whatsoever. This SS Rajamouli directorial is currently the highest grossing Indian movie raking in around Rs 1500 crores from the worldwide box office.

In Kerala, the movie is running to houseful shows in almost all the centres. Even after crossing two weeks of it’s release, theatres are arranging special shows due to the never ending rush.

After it’s 17 days theatrical run, the movie has raked in Rs 55.20 crores from the Kerala box office. It is the fastest to gross 50 crores from the state beating the previous record held by Pulimurugan by a large margin.

It is to be seen whether Baahubali can topple Pulimurugan’s record of being the highest grosser in Kerala box office. Well, going by the current rate it doesn’t seem far away. Also the fact that there are no big releases from Malayalam in the coming weeks further heightens Baahubali’s chances of becoming the highest earning movie in the Kerala box office.

Kunchacko Boban’s latest release Ramante Edanthottam hit screens all over Kerala on May 12. This is his second release of the year after the superhit Take Off.

Ramante Edanthottam, written and directed by Ranjith Sankar was opened to mixed reviews from the critics. The movie is a feel good entertainer revolving around the relationship between Raman and Malini, played by Anu Sithara. The lead pair’s chemistry was well appreciated by the critics.

Ramante Edanthottam has grossed Rs 2.25 crores from it’s 3 days run in the Kerala box office. This is a decent opening considering the mixed reviews, minimal hype and it’s release amidst biggies like Dulquer Salmaan’s CIA and Baahubali. The movie is produced by director Ranjith Sankar’s own production house Dreams N Beyond.

Aju Varghese, Ramesh Pisharody, Muthumani, Joju George and Sreejith Ravi have essayed the supporting characters in the movie. Bijibal has composed the music while the beautiful visuals in Ramante Edanthottam were captured by veteran cinematographer Madhu Neelakandan.

It seems like historic period dramas are the current flavour in Indian cinema. After the enormous success of the Baahubali franchise, filmmakers across the country are coming up with period dramas that should be made on a wide canvas with massive budget.

Malayalam cinema itself has three such projects in the initial stages- Prithviraj’s Karnan, Mohanlal’s The Mahabaratha and debutant Sidhil Subramanian’s Chengazhi Nambiar. Now, we hear that another such project is also being planned in Mollywood.

Legendary filmmaker Hariharan is planning to make a movie on Payyampally Chandu, a chapter in the Vadakkan Pattukal (northern ballads) of North Malabar region. Hariharan is collaborating with writer/filmmaker Ranjith for this project.

Ranjith is currently working on the script of Payyampally Chandu. Hariharan revealed this bit of information recently while talking to media. He also gave hints that they are planning to make the movie with Mammootty in the lead.

Vadakkan Pattukal is not an unfamiliar theme for Malayali audience. There has been several movies right from the black and white days that were based on the characters from Vadakkan Pattukal. Most famous among them was Hariharan- MT Vasudevan Nair team’s Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha.

The yesteryear classic starring Mammootty as Chandu Chekavar, won him the National award for best actor that year. Mammootty immortalised the character in Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha so much so that it is even hard to imagine any other actor in that role.

Mammootty last worked with Hariharan in Pazhassi Raja, the all time blockbuster released in 2009. They share a great rapport with each other and hence chances are high that they will soon join hands for Payyampally Chandu. Stay tuned for more updates.

Lal Jose is one of the most sought after filmmakers in Mollywood currently. The veteran filmmaker has collaborated with several big stars in his near two decade long career. In fact his debut movie as an independent filmmaker was with Mammootty- Oru Maravathoor Kanavu in 1998. However, the one question that was thrown at Lal Jose everytime was about when he will join hands with Mohanlal.

The long wait ends tomorrow as he starts shooting for his next with Mohanlal tomorrow. The director himself informed this news to his followers through his official Facebook handle. In a handwritten note, the director has written that
he will be starting works for the one project that people have been asking him ever since Oru Maravathoor Kanavu, yes the one with Mohanlal.

Lal Jose’s teaming up with Mohanlal was long speculated but it could not materialize earlier due to various reasons. So, when they finally team up after a lot of awaiting, expectations are sky high. Benny P Nayarambalam has written this movie, touted to be a clean commercial entertainer.

Mohanlal is playing the role of a college principal in this movie. His character is named as professor Michael Idicula. The movie will showcase the relationship between teachers and students. Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas is producing this film.

The movie is set in the backdrop of a seaside campus and the makers have finalized St Xavier’s collge in Trivandrum as the prime location. Angamaly Diaries fame Anna Reshma Rajan is the female lead. She is playing the role of Mary, an assistant professor in the movie.

Anoop Menon is teaming up with Mohanlal once again after the success of Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol and he will be seen in a pivotal role. Apart from them, the movie has a huge supporting cast that includes Jalam fame Priyanka Nair, Salim Kumar, Kalabhavan Shajon, Siddique, Alencier Ley Lopez, Angamaly Diaries fame Sarath Kumar, Aanandam fame Arun and many others.

Shaan Rahman is composing the music while youngster Vishnu Sarma will be cranking the camera. The makers are planning to release the movie for this year’s Onam season.

The flick is awaiting it’s release in Telugu, which is a dubbed version. The trailer had released yesterday and had attained 1 lakhs + views in small time.

But what had caught everyone’s focus is that the megastar though not doing a role as much important as the actress in not shown in any clip. Those who have watched the Malayalam version would understand the prominence Mammootty’s character Adv. Louis Pothen had in the climax.

There is no stopping Indian cinema’s latest phenomenon Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. The SS Rajamouli directorial has been doing some tremendous performance in the box office along with garnering appreciation from all corners.

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar finally found some time from his busy schedule to catch the movie. He along with his wife Twinkle Khanna thoroughly enjoyed the movie and were all praise in their tweets. Akshay wrote that Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has taken Indian cinema to an international level. Here’s his tweet,

“Finally saw #BaahubaliTheConclusion, it deserves every bit of hype & success,taking Indian cinema 2 an international level.Congrats 2 d team (sic)”

His wife Twinkle was apparently smitten by the name “Kattappa“, much to her husband’s annoyance. She even started calling her daughter by the name Kattappa. She wrote,

“Saw Baahubali & I’ve been calling my daughter Kattappa much to her dad’s annoyance-Perhaps he would prefer her being called Rowdy instead:) (sic)”

“Kattappa is my bae – All right perhaps I am a bit obsessed- but try it- say Kattappa 3 times and you won’t be able to stop- it’s like eating wafers – addictive (sic)”

Meanwhile, Baahubali 2 continues to do massive collections all over the globe. The movie, recently become the first Indian movie to gross over Rs 1000 crores and is now nearing the 1500 mark.
