Varalaxmi Sarathkumar clarifies about her kidnapping issue

Earlier in the day, a picture of Kasaba actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, tied up on the bed was spreading virally in social medias along with the hashtag, #VaralaxmiGotKidnapped.

There were all sorts of speculations about the photos. Putting an end to all the talks, the actress has stated that the photo is from one of her upcoming movies. She is quoted saying to Behindwoods, “I am in Delhi right now in connection with the Save Shakthi campaign. I would like to inform all my fans and well-wishers that I am safe and sound. I was not aware of this post as it was done by the ADs of the film. The clipping in the post is for a promo of my next Tamil film in which I get kidnapped. The announcement about this will come this evening around 6 PM.”

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar meanwhile signed for her next Malayalam movie. She will be playing one of the leads in Mammootty’s upcoming movie with Rajadhiraja fame Ajai Vasudev. Poonam Bajwa and Mahima Nambiar are playing the other female leads in this mass entertainer scripted by Udhayakrishna.

While fans associations are fighting over box office collections and show counts, a section of Vijay fans from the Kondotty unit are organizing a schemes for supplying free drinking water.

This is a very timely effort from the youngsters as the State is suffering from acute water shortage due to lack of rainfall. Fans associations are mostly limited to organizing opening day celebrations and success meets. But what the society needs is a group of socially responsible youngsters who can bring a positive change for the well being of fellow citizens.

Earlier Vijay fans association in Kottarakkara had conducted a rally as a mark of showing their protest against the rising incidents of attacks against women and children.

It is really heartening to see youngsters spending their resources for helping others. Let’s hope more fans associations come forward to address socially relevant issues.

Tovino Thomas’s much awaited campus political drama Oru Mexican Aparatha was released on March 3 to overwhelming response from the audience. The movie was released amid high expectations majorly due to Tovino’s rising popularity and the movie’s slant towards the communist ideology.

Oru Mexican Aparatha got huge inital collections which helped to become a big commercial success. According to reports from trade sources, the movie has grossed Rs 16.9 crores from Kerala box office alone. The worldwide collections amount to around Rs 20 crores. The movie has turned into a huge commercial success considering the fact that it was made on a very small budget of Rs 1.50 crores.

Oru Mexican Aparatha, directed by debutant Tom Emmatty also features Roopesh Peethambaran, Neeraj Madhav, Gayathri Suresh, Kalabhavan Shajon, Jino John and Balaji Sharma in supporting characters.

The movie is set in the Maharajas college in Ernakulam. It revolves around the rivalry between two student political organizations. Tovino Thomas played a dual role as Paul and Kochaniyan, an yesteryear communist supporter. Neeraj Madhav had a solid role and he delivered a very matured and controlled performance. Roopesh Peethambaran was a revelation as the cunning and clever KSQ leader. OMA is his comeback movie as an actor after a gap of 22 long years. Anoop Kannan has produced the film under his banner Anoop Kannan Stories.

Anil Radhakrishnan Menon’s upcoming movie Diwanjimoola Grand Prix recently went on floors in Thrissur. The movie stars a bunch of youngsters along with seasoned actors like Kunchacko Boban, Nyla Usha, Siddique and Nedumudi Venu.

Ketaki Naryan who made her debut in movies through Jayaraj’s epic drama Veeram has been roped in to pivotal role in Diwanjimoola Grand Prix. She will be an entirely different character from what she played in Veeram. She is playing a bubbly girl next door kind of character.

Diwanjimoola Grand Prix is a social satire that will have an element of fun and adventure. Interestingly, the movie will feature several characters from other films as part of the cast. Kunchako Boban is playing the role of an IAS officer in the movie. The actor is reprising his character Sajan Joseph from the 2003 Lohithadas directorial Kasthooriman.

Similarly, many characters from various other movies will also be part of Diwanjimoola Grand Prix. Sudheer Karamana, Sudhi Koppa, Rajeev Pillai and Shaheen Siddique are also playing supporting roles.

The movie is scripted jointly by Anil Radhakrishnan Menon and former Kozhikode collector Prashanth Nair. It is produced by Masoodh Muhammed and Safeer Ahmed under the banner of Mars International.

Last year, another star made his entry to the world of cinema. We are talking about Gokul Suresh, actor Suresh Gopi’s son.

Gokul Suresh, who made his debut through the comedy entertainer Mudhugauv, has started shooting for his next movie. He will be seen in the role of a college student in Mammootty’s upcoming movie with Rajadhiraja fame Ajai Vasudev. It is a very prominent character with ample scope for performance. The movie, written by Udhayakrishna also stars Unni Mukundan, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Maqbool Salmaan, Poonam Bajwa and Mahima Nambiar.

Incidentally, Gokul’s father Suresh Gopi’s second movie was also a campus based entertainer- Yuvajanotsavam, that also had him in a role of a student. Suresh Gopi got to share screen space with Mohanlal, who by then was already an established actor.

Suresh Gopi and Mammootty have also acted together in several blockbusters in the past like New Delhi, Oru CBI Diary Kurippu, Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha and Nair Saab. Their last outing together was in The King & The Commissioner, released in 2012.

Gokul Suresh, meanwhile has also committed for a movie titled Panjara Paal Mittayi, which will be directed by debutant Sharon K Vipin. It is a rom-com entertainer that revolves around a school and an automobile company. The youngster has undergone a physical transformation by shedding a few kilos for playing his part.

After a short break, Jayaram is all set fot a comeback with Sathya. The movie, directed by late filmmaker Diphan, is gearing up to hit screens on April 20. Renowned scenarist AK Sajan has scripted this movie, which is touted to be a mass entertainer.

Jayaram is seen sporting a salt and better look with a grey beard for the movie. The movie’s official trailer was released recently to good response from the viewers.

Parvathi Nambiar is playing the female lead while actress Roma Asrani is also essaying a pivotal role as dancer Rosy. Aju Varghese, Sudheer Karamana, Rahul Dev, Pashanam Shaji, Major Ravi, Nalini, Rohini, Kottayam Nazeer, Nandu, Vijayaraghavan, Balachandran Chullikkadu, Shobha Mohan and Sohan Seenulal will be seen in supporting characters.

Gopi Sunder is handling the music department. Bharani K Dharan is the cameraman while Shamjith is in charge of the edits. The movie is produced by Feros Saheed under the banner Shehnas Movie Creations.

Mammootty’s upcoming movie with Rajadhiraja fame Ajai Vasudev went on floors on April 17. The movie is scripted by Udhayakrishna, his next after the glorious success of Pulimurugan. The untitled film is a mass entertainer set in the backdrop of a college.

Mammootty is playing the role of a college professor in the movie. It is a larger than life mass character. The movie stars three female leads in Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Poonam Bajwa and Karyasthan fame Mahima Nambiar. All the three actresses will have equal prominence.

This is Varalaxmi’s second movie with Mammootty after Kasaba, which was also her debut movie in Malayalam. Poonam Bajwa has shared screen space with the megastar in Venicile Vyapari and Shikkari.

The movie has a stellar star cast that includes actors like Unni Mukundan, Gokul Suresh Gopi, Mukesh, Salim Kumar, Maqbool Salmaan and many others. Santhosh Pandit is also playing a character in this campus based entertainer. Royal Cinemas owned by CH Muhammed is funding this movie.

Popular playback singer Sayanora Philip is turning an independent music director through Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri starring Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead. The movie is directed by Jean Markose who made his debut in 2014 with the Indrajith starrer Angels.

Sayanora is popular for her songs in movies like Jo and The Boy, Rani Padmini, Baahubali (Malayalam), Vettam, Notebook etc. She is the path of Indian female music composers like Usha khanna, Bhavathirini, A.R Raihana and Neha Nair. Lyirce in Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri will be penned by Anwar Ali who has written lyircs for movies like Kammattipadam (Para para, Puzhu Puzhakal), Njan Steve Lopez (Theruvukalil), Kismath (Kisa Paathiyil), Annayum Rasoolum and Sakhavu.

Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri stars Suraj Venjaramoodu in the titular role of a 58 year old man. The movie will have a bunch of newcomers also. Shoot for the movie will commence by end of June.

Working with Vikram was stress free: Gautham Vasudev Menon

Chiyaan Vikram celebrated his 51th birthday yesterday (April 17). As a birthday gift for Vikram, filmmaker Gautham Menon released the second teaser of his upcoming movie Dhruva Natchathiram with Vikram in the lead.

Along with sharing the teaser on his Twitter page, the director tweeted: “Best wishes to the flamboyant Vikram! You have made it possible for some intense and yet relaxed filming. Zero stress.”

The new teaser is a continuation of the first which was released earlier this year. Dhruva Natchathiram is a spy thriller in which Vikram is reportedly playing a RAW agent. Ritu Varma and Aishwarya Rajesh play the female leads.

Gautham Menon’s production house Ondraga Entertainment and Escape Artists Pictures is jointly producing this movie which is slated to release in August this year.

Vikram, meanwhile is shooting simultaneously for both Dhruva Natchathiram and Vaalu fame Vijay Chander’s upcoming mass entertainer titled as Sketch.

The Mahabarata to be released in 100 languages

Recently, a massive announcement was made by Mohanlal about the much talked about Randamoozham. The movie adaptation of MT Vasudevan Nair’s award winning novel has been titled as The Mahabarata and will be directed by popular ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon.

The movie is being produced by Dr BR Shetty, Founder and Chairman of UAE Exchange and NMC Healthcare. The Mahabarata will be the most expensive Indian movie ever as they are planning to invest a whopping Rs 1000 crores (150 million USD) for production.

In a recent statement given to media by Dr B R Shetty, he revealed that the movie will be released in 100 languages. The movie will be made as a multilingual in English, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. It will also be dubbed into all major Indian and foreign languages.

Dr BR Shetty said, “The Mahabharata is an epic of all epics. This movie will be a true ‘Make in India’ made for the world. The Mahabharata mesmerizes as well as brings focus on life and living. I believe that this film will not only set global benchmarks, but also reposition India and its prowess in mythological storytelling. I am confident that this film will be adapted in over 100 languages and reach over 3 billion people across the world. Importantly, am awestruck by the fantastic screenplay by Sri. MT and I have tremendous faith in the ability of V.A. Shrikumar to paint this narrative on celluloid. His passion and energy are boundless.”

This epic movie will be filmed in two parts and would have a worldwide release in 2020. Shoot for the movie will commence by 2018 September. The second part of the movie would be released within 90 days of the first part.

Randamoozham is based on the Hindu epic Mahabharatha and is told from Bheemasenan’s perspective. Mohanlal would be playing the role of Bheeman in this epic drama. Other leading actors from Indian cinema and Hollywood will be part of this big budget movie. The technical crew will also have some best talents from across the globe.
