Puthan Panam will be a 2017 Vishu gift for all Malayalis

One of the most awaited movies of the year, Puthan Panam is gearing up for release and will reach the Malayali audience as a Vishu gift.

Puthan Panam marks the reunion of one of the most favourite actor-director combos of Mollywood, Mammootty and Ranjith. While the ace filmmaker is joining hands with Mammootty after a gap, expectations are naturally on the higher side.

Mammootty is playing the role of Nityananda Shenoy, a mysterious guy, in the movie. Official first look poster of the movie was unveiled few days back. Mammootty is seen sporting a salt and pepper look with a thick moustache and the actor will be using the Kasargod slang in the movie.

The director’s 2011 superhit movie Indian Rupee also addressed a similar theme about black money and the economic situation in the society. The movie had won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam, that year. Puthan Panam will be a different perspective on the same topic. This further heightens the expectations surrounding Puthan Panam.

The movie features Ineya and Sheelu Abraham as the female leads. Siddique, Sai Kumar, Renji Panicker, Harish Kanaran, Mamukoya, Suresh Krishna, Aanandam fame Vishak Nair, Niranjana Anoop, Ganapathy, Swaraj, Nirmal Palazhi and many others will be seen in supporting roles. A 14-year-old boy Swaraj has also been introduced through this movie. Swaraj is a school theatre actor and is a very promising talent for the future.

Popular Kollywood cinematographer Om Prakash who has worked in movies like Maari and Kaashmora is cranking the camera while Shaan Rahman is handling the music department.

Puthan Panam is produced by 3 Color Cinemas, a new production company jointly owned by Abraham Mathew (Abam Movies), director Ranjith and actor Arun Narayanan.

Both parents and children should read this latest blog by Mohanlal

Mohanlal has always been a socially committed personality. He has frequently voiced his opinions about various social and political issues through his blogs. The actor has been writing blogs for the past 6 years. Every month he updates about any particular topic that he feels is relevant to address. Some of his blogs have earned him a lot of flak but the actor has never backed away from expressing what he feels needs to be addressed.

In the wake of the recent incidents of abuse against students and frequent reports about suicides committed by students, Mohanlal chose to write his latest blog about this particular issue. Titled as ‘Tears for the Children’, this blog is highly recommend for all parents, teachers and students.

Some excerpts from the blog is given below,
All these news that we have been hearing is not happening in far away places or foreign countries, it is happening in our neighborhood and locality. Academic issues and financial constraints were always prevalent in the society. Those days teachers used to scold and punish students who failed in exams. But they never commit suicide, they were not physically tortured and abused. Those days it was cane, now it has changed to dark rooms were students are being beaten up. I don’t have any advice to parents, teachers and family members who abuse children, because they don’t deserve it. Only solution is that such people should be punished at the earliest. But I have something to say to all kids out there, suicide is never a solution. I can understand your pain and pressure but you should move forward overcoming all that. You should point fingers at those who abuse you, or else they will continue doing the same.

Mohanlal also pointed out at the current educational system. Eminent personalities like Abdul Kalam, Abraham Lincoln, Swami Vivekananda and Nelson Mandela were inspirations for us to face the obstacles in life. It’s time we revisit those days.

Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan fame Vishnu Unnikrishnan and his co-star from the movie, Lijomol Jose are also part of this Mammootty starrer. The film doesn’t have a heroine as such, as it is a tale of many characters. Kochi, Chennai and Pollachi are the major locations.

The experience I got while working in Baahuabli is equal to 10 movies: Sabu Cyril

Baahubali 2 : The Conclusion is gearing up to hit screen worldwide on April 28. Post production works are going on in full swing to ensure a quality output. This magnum opus directed by SS Rajamouli is arguably the most anticipated movie of the year. The whole nation is waiting to watch the kingdom of Mahishmati for one last time.

Production designer Sabu Cyril is the Malayali presence in the movie. He is Rajamouli’s go to man who brings on screen whatever Rajamouli visualizes. In a recent interview, the country’s most sought after production designer, Sabu Cyril, shared about his experience working with the Baahubali team.

For the past five years, my only thought was about Baahubali. It became a part of my life the day after I joined the team. I have worked in only two movies in these five years time- Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay and Rajinikanth’s Lingaa. Working in Baahubali gave me an experience for working in ten movies. I have incorporated all that I learnt in the movie. The first part just showed the characters and their backgrounds but the real plot evolves in the sequel. A lot of VFX works were shown in the first part but Baahubali 2 was mostly shot in real sets that we erected. We have made artificial animals, as we are not supposed to use animals for film shooting. Elephants, bulls and horses were all artificially made for the war sequence. One thing I can assure you is that the second part will be much more superior in terms of visual grandeur.

The trailer of Baahubali 2 gave a sneak peak into the world of Mahishmati. If the two minute trailer is anything to go by, Sabu Cyril and his team have something out of the world in store for us. The movie will release simultaneously in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam.

Oru Mexican Aparatha producer Anoop Kannan stands for Tovino Thomas

Tovino Thomas, over the past week has been criticised by social media users after videos of two seperate incidents showing the actor shouting at his fans, went viral. The incidents occurred when the actor was visiting various theatres across the State as part of the promotions for his latest movie Oru Mexican Aparatha.

Apparently, Tovino was pinched by someone from the crowd which infuriated him. Netizens alleged that Tovino has become arrogant after the success of his movie. A series of trolls were also directed at the actor which finally forced him to apologize through his official Facebook page.

The producer of Oru Mexican Aparatha, Anoop Kannan recently updated a status in his social media page defending Tovino Thomas. In his post, he has said that celebrities are also humans who react normally like how others do.

Some of the excerpts from his post reads,
Tovino is very much aware that the major reason for our movie’s success in the audience support and that’s why he reached out to the people without resting in the comfort of a hotel room. He walked over two kilometers under scorching sun in Kannur just to thank his fans. Just like a normal human being, he showed his emotions when he was hurt. He is a very alert person who raises his voice against anything he feels is not right, be it a social issue or even while acting. That’s why he reacted and soon the whole issue was blown out of proportion. Publishing such negative reports against a budding young actor is certainly a kind of cruelty.

Support has been flowing in for Tovino from his friends from within the industry, like Guppy director John Paul George and Roopesh Peethambaran. A section of social media users have also supported the actor in the issue.

Stunning fight sequence in The Great Father climax

Megastar Mammootty’s most awaited movie in recent years, The Great Father is finally hitting screens all over Kerala on March 30. The movie is highly anticipated by the fans and is expected to have a massive opening.

Mammootty is playing the role of David Ninan in the movie, directed by newbie Haneef Adeni. The teasers and promos suggest that it will be a stylish mass movie with enough moments for the fans to enjoy watching the megastar on big screen in all his glory.

A source close to the unit inform that the climax portions of the movie will have a stunning fight sequence. Mammootty is said to have performed some daredevilry stunts for these scenes. Arya, who is playing the role of Andrews Eapen in the movie had earlier in an interview said that he was amazed on seeing the 65 year old superstar perform stunts without any body doubles.

The actor, earlier in an interview had said, “The first thing I noticed in Mammootty is the energy in him and his well maintained physique. He exercises daily without any failure and that is one of the major reasons that help in performing stunts even at this age. I don’t like doing rope stunts as they are physically very tiring but he is game for it and that too without using any dupes. One instance that is worth a mention was the stunt in the climax sequence. We were shooting in Vagamon then. I saw him practicing for that stunt many times. He did not want any dupes and tried it himself many times before getting it perfect. Both his hands were tied from behind, he had to jump and get his hands in the front. It is the kind of stunt that people like Jackie Chan perform. I was amazed while watching Mammootty perform this scene.

The movie also Sneha, Shaam, Baby Anikha, Malavika Mohanan and Manikandan Achari in other important roles. August Cinemas is producing this movie.
