Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol collection report

Mohanlal’s latest release Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is continuing it’s glorious theatrical run even after a month of it’s release. We had earlier reported that the movie crossed the 50 crore mark.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol (MVT) has done an overall business of over 50 crores including the satellite, audio, overseas and all other rights. Here is the latest collection reports from trade sources.

From Kerala box office alone, the movie has grossed Rs 31 crores. Collections from the rest of India centres amount to Rs 3 crores. In UAE and GCC centres, MVT has raked in a whopping Rs 8.90 crores. Box office figures from US, UK and other overseas centres is estimated to be around Rs 3.50 crores. In total, the box office collections alone amount to Rs 46.50 crores.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, directed by Vellimoonga fame Jibu Jacob featured Mohanlal and Meena in the lead roles. It is Mohanlal’s third successive Malayalam movie to enter the 50 crore club after Oppam and Pulimurugan.

MVT is written by M Sindhuraj based on James VJ’s popular short story Pranayopanishath. The story revolves around a middle aged couple who rediscover their lost love from the boredom of their routine life.

Mohanlal essayed the character of Ulahannan, a panchayath secretary while Meena played his wife Aniyamma, a homemaker. Aima Rose Sebastian, Sanoop Santhosh, Anoop Menon, Alencier Ley, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Rahul Madhav, Neha Saxena and Kalabhavan Shajon essayed other supporting characters.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol was produced by Sophia Paul under the banner Weekend Blockbusters.

Ezra Collection Report 20 Days

Prithviraj’s latest release Ezra has entered it’s third week of theatrical run and is still unshaken in the box office. The movie has been doing great business in all the release centres. The box office figures have only been soaring high thanks to the highly positive word of mouth.

According to latest reports from trade experts, Ezra has grossed Rs 26.80 crores from it’s 20 days theatrical run. The net collections amount to Rs 21.20 crores. The movie opened to stunning response from the audience raking in a whopping Rs 2.65 crores on the opening day itself from around 125 screens in Kerala.

Ezra is going strong outside Kerala also.It was released outside Kerala in 154 screens, marking the biggest ever release for a Malayalam movie outside Kerala. It was also released in UAE in places like Dubai, Ajman, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah.

Ezra, directed by debutant Jay K, is the first of it’s kind horror thriller in Mollywood. The movie has a Jewish backdrop, an area that has only been rarely discussed in Malayalam cinema. The movie’s plot set in two timelines, spanning from the 1940s to 2016.

Popular South Indian actress Priya Anand made her Mollywood debut through this movie. Tovino Thomas, Sudev Nair, Babu Antony, Sujith Shankar, debutante Ann Sheetal, Tara Kalyan, Vijayaraghavan and Bharath Dabholkar have played supporting characters.

Mukesh R. Mehta, C. V. Sarathy and A. V. Anoop have jointly produced the movie under the banners of E4 Entertainment and AVA Productions.

The highly anticipated campus political drama Oru Mexican Aparatha was released yesterday. The movie came in with high expectations majorly due to Tovino Thomas’s rising popularity and the movie’s slant towards the communist ideology.

Theatres witnessed heavy rush for the movie, a kind of rush that’s normally seen for superstar movies. Critics have also given excellent reports for the movie. Youngsters are flocking the theatres in large numbers. Most weekend shows have already been sold out in the multiplexes.

Neeraj Madhav who played a pivotal role in the movie, in his Facebook post has thanked the fans for such a massive opening. The actor has given his career best performance as Subhash in the movie. Roopesh Peethambaran in his comeback movie is also terrific as the antagonist.

Oru Mexican Aparatha, directed by debutant Tom Emmatty, has already been given a clean chit as a thoroughly enjoyable youthful entertainer.

Director B Unnikrishnan’s upcoming movie with Mohanlal has started rolling in Trivandrum. Mohanlal is playing the role of an ex-cop in this crime thriller. The actor underwent a 21 day Ayurvedic treatment at Gurukripa Heritage Ayurvedic treatments in Koottanad, for shedding a few kilos to play the part.

Mohanlal was recently seen sporting a salt and pepper beard. The actor looks much more fitter and robust in the recently surfacing photos. He is expected to join the sets of B Unnikrishnan’s untitled movie by this week.

Manju Warrier will be seen as his wife in the movie while popular Kollywood star Vishal, Hansika Motwani, Telugu actor Srikanth and Raashi Khanna are also playing pivotal roles.

This yet to be titled movie is produced by Rockline Venkatesh who has earlier produced big budget films like Bhajrangi Bhaijaan and Lingaa.

Manoj Paramahamsa known for his works in movies like Nanban and Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya, is the cinematographer. Music will be composed by Oppam fame 4 Musics. Peter Hein and Anal Aranu will be choreographing the stunts. The movie will have much significance to VFX and special effects. An international company from Poland have been roped in for handling the VFX works.

The team are planning to complete the shoot in 50-55 days time. Trivandrum, Vagamon, Munnar and Ernakulam are the major locations

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Angamaly Diaries has hit screens today. The movie is getting extraordinary reports from all the centres. Critics have also given a thumbs up to the movie.

A preview show the movie Angamaly Diaries was organised two days before the release for selected few invitees at PAN Cinemas, Nucleus Mall in Kochi.

Popular filmmakers like Lal Jose, Sibi Malayil and actors like Asif Ali, Tovino Thomas, Sunny Wayne, Chandini Sreedharan, Aparna Balamurali, Anu Mol and many others attended the preview show along with the whole cast and crew of Angamaly Diaries.

After the show, actor Tovino Thomas had a quick interaction with the media. The actor was all praise for the movie. He felt that the movie could capture the nativity and essence of Angamaly exactly what like it is in reality. He said that it would be a great loss for Malayalam cinema if the movie fails in the box office.

He said, “As my maiden venture I am pleased to have produced an epic film like Veeram which proudly presents the rich Malabar history of Chekavars while drawing a parallel with Shakespearean story of Macbeth. Our movie owes it’s touch of class to the director, the four Hollywood technicians, DOP S Kumar and all the cast and crew members who have worked as a team. Starring Kunal Kapoor in a never-before-seen lead role has had the impact on Hollywood too with the film and it’s song being short listed for nomination in the Oscars.
I feel blessed and contented for having presented a beautiful film worth watching with good production quality.”

Chandramohan Pillai and his co-brother Pradeep Rajan jointly produced the movie under the banner Chandrakala Arts.

Tiyaan first look poster released

The first look poster of the highly anticipated multistarrer Tiyaan was released today. The poster was shared both in Prithviraj and Indrajith’s official Facebook pages.

The poster features Prithviraj and a city in the background. It also carries the tagline, “When miracle meets man, epics are born“.

We had earlier reported that Prithviraj is playing the character Aslan Mohammed in the movie while his brother Indrajith’s character is named as Pattabhiraman.

Apart from them, the movie will also feature a host of supporting actors like Murali Gopy, Shine Tom Chacko, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Prakash Bare, Rahul Madhav, Alok Jain, Paris Lakshmi, Padmapriya and Ananya.

Murali Gopy has also scripted the movie which is directed by debutant Jiyen Krishnakumar.
Tiyaan is a socio-political drama set majorly in North India.

Almost 90% of the shoot was held in the Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad. Some portions of the movie were also shot in Nashik, Pune and Mumbai.

Tiyaan is produced by Haneef Ahmed under his banner Red Rose Creations. It is a big budget movie made on an expense of over Rs 20 crores. The movie is scheduled to hit screens for Eid this year.

We had earlier reported about an upcoming Malayalam movie Queen, directed by debutant Dijo Jose Antony. The movie revolves around a girl who joins mechanical engineering department, a stream normally considered as a boys fort.

The director had earlier informed that the movie will showcase a blend of new faces and seasoned actors. The team is conducting an audition for the character of the female lead in Bangalore. Girls between the age of 17-22, if interested can take part in the auditions.

Queen is scripted by mechanical engineering graduates Jebin Joseph Antony and Sharis Muhammed. A new production and distribution company Arabian Dreams and Entertainment headed by Rinu and Shibu K Moideen will be producing this movie. Interestingly, both the producers are also mechanical engineering graduates.

The movie is expected to go on floors by the end of this month.
