The nation has not benefited from demonetisation: Adoor Gopalakrishnan

The central government’s demonetisation move to scrap the higher denomination notes and issue new currency have been met with mixed response from the citizens. People from all walks of the society and have voiced their voices for and against demonetisation.

Legendary filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan recently in a function during a book launch said that the demonetisation move by the government has not benefited the country. The director had earlier supported the decision hoping that it will bring back the stashed black money. But, now he feels that the government did not have a proper planning or strategy before implementing such a big decision.

Earlier, Jnanpith award winning writer MT Vasudevan Nair had to face a lot of criticism from BJP activists in Kerala for his comments over the impact of demonetisation.

Mammootty’s Uncle will be similar to Shutter: Joy Mathew

We had already told you that Mammootty will play the lead in an upcoming movie titled as Uncle. The movie is written by actor turned filmmaker Joy Mathew. Gireesh Damodar, a former associate of Ranjith and M Padmakumar will be directing this movie. Uncle will be his debut directorial despite being in industry for more than 15 years.

Joy Mathew has earlier written and directed the critically and commercially acclaimed Shutter. The movie, released in 2012 was screened at several international film festivals. Shutter starring Lal, Vinay Forrt, Sreenivasan and Sajitha Madathil discussed about the moral hypocrisies in a patriachal society. It was later remade in six Indian languages.

Joy Mathew in a recent interview has informed that his upcoming movie starring Mammootty will also revolve around a family, just like Shutter.

He said, “The social and political milieu of Kerala is of much importance in the movie and it’s about an unusual situation a family is made to face. Mammootty will be seen in a different role altogether.”

Though he remained tight lipped about the project, he was informed that it will discuss a very relevant socially issue. The movie will revolve around a 17 year old girl and her dad’s friend, whom she calls uncle. The makers are now in the look for a teenage girl to play the character. Ooty and Kozhikode are the major locations.

It was earlier reported that Jayasurya will be playing the lead in late footballer VP Sathyan’s biopic, titled as Captain. The movie is directed by debutant Prajesh Sen.

VP Sathyan was the captain of the Indian team for the World Cup qualifiers in Beirut and Seoul. He led the Indian team to a gold medal in the 1995 SAF Games and has also led Kerala to the Santosh Trophy title in 1992. Sathyan committed suicide due to depression in 2006.

The movie is highly expected by the football fans in the State. Jayasurya has been training for the past few months to improve his skills in football.

Happy Wedding fame Anu Sithara has been roped in to play the female lead in the movie. She will be playing the role of Anitha Sathyan, the footballer’s wife.

The director in a recent interview has informed that her character will have a lot of scope for performance. The movie will be told through her perspective. It will not just be centred around the game of football. The movie will also show how relationships influenced Sathyan’s life.

Captain will be Anu Sithara’s second movie with Jayasurya. She had recently shared screen space with him in director Siddique’s comedy entertainer Fukri. The pretty actress is currently shooting for Ranjith Sankar’s Ramante Edenthottam in which she will be seen as Kunchako Boban’s romantic interest.

We had recently reported that Suirya’s latest release Singam 3 aka Si3 was a failure in the Telugu box office. The movie was bought for record price in the Telugu speaking States of Andhra Pradesh and Telengana, considering Suriya’s massive fan following.

Now, according to latest reports from trade sources, the Hari directorial has flopped at the Kerala box office as well. Si 3 is the third installment in the popular Singam franchise. It was released amid huge expectations on February 9.

The movie features two female leads in Anushka Shetty and Shruti Haasan. It was opened to mixed reviews from the critics who pointed out the lack of novelty and the mass masala formula as the negatives. After a good opening weekend in Kerala, the audience count went down subsequently in the following weekend. The movie has grossed just Rs 1 crore on it’s entire second week. On a whole, the movie had grossed Rs 7.25 crore at the Kerala box office. Trade sources suggest that the distributors would have suffered big a loss as the movie was bought for an hefty amount.

Similarly, Vijay’s last release Bairavaa was also an underwhelming affair at the Kerala box office. The movie, released during the Pongal holidays in January was directed by Azhagiya Tamizh Magan fame Bharhathan. Despite registering a great opening in Kerala, the movie flopped as it found no takers after the second week. And with the release of Malayalam movies like Dulquer Salmaan’s Jomonte Suvisheshangal and Mohanlal’s Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, Bairavaa could not make any sort of impact in Kerala.

Prithviraj-Bhavana upcoming movie’s titled changed from Adam to Adam Joan

We had recently reported that Prithviraj is currently has started shooting for Jinu Abraham’s debut directorial Adam in Kochi. The movie stars Bhavana, Narain, Rahul Madhav and Bollywood actress Mishti Chakraborty in the major roles.

We now hear that the movie has undergone a title change from Adam to Adam Joan. Last year, another movie titled Adam, which was directed by Zamar Rashid, was released. Apparently, the makers of Prithviraj’s movie had approached them for the title, but their request was denied.

Director Jinu Abraham has earlier scripted two Prithviraj starrers, Masters and London Bridge. The latest movie will feature Prithviraj in the title character Adam Joan Pothen, a high range planter who manages his family business and properties after his father passes away.

Major portions of the movie will be shot in Scotland. Narain will be seen as Cyriac, his friend from college. Adam comes across Cyriac when he travels to Scotland, and he helps him in his journey.

Bollywood actress Mishti Chakraborty is playing the romantic interest of Prithviraj’s character in the film. Bhavana will have an equally prominent role in the movie.

Veteran actor Siddique, Jaya Menon and Baby Abida Hussain, who played Akshay Kumar’s daughter in Airlift, are also part of the cast.

Lucifer movie is written by the multi faceted Murali Gopy. In a recent interview to a national daily, he shared details regarding the current status and more about the project.

Prithviraj and Murali Gopy have been very close friends. They were recently working together for Tiyaan when Murali pitched an one liner. Prithvi loved it and wanted to direct the movie. That was how Lucifer was born.

Murali Gopy is well aware of Mohanlal’s stardom. He is eagerly looking forward to exploit Mohanlal’s impeccable acting skills while also keeping in mind his stardom and to please his scores of fans.

Murali Gopi said, “He’s the biggest superstar ever from the Malayalam film industry. So, to get to work with him is a dream come true. While being a feast for his fans, we also want Lucifer to be a quality film. His star status now is larger than the characters he plays. So it becomes difficult for the writers to come up with a suitable character that would appeal to the star as well as the actor in him. Another challenge is satiating his massive fan base without compromising on content.”

They are planning to start the shoot by May 2018 after all of them finish their prior commitments.

We had told you that Ilayathalapathy Vijay is currently shooting for his next with Theri director Atlee. The latest buzz is that Vijay is playing triple roles in the movie!

One of the roles would be as a police officer while other two parts are still kept under the wraps. Though he has acted in a few double action roles in movies like Kaththi, Villu and Azhagiya Thamizh Magan, this is the first time he is playing a triple role in his two decade long career.

The movie is a semi period drama with a major portion of the movie set in the 80s timeline. This portion is reportedly set in the Madurai area. The team has erected a huge set in Chennai and have been shooting there for the past on month. The actor is sporting a twirled moustache and beard for this schedule.

Earlier there were reports that some portions of the movie are set abroad and that the team will be travelling to UK and US for an extensive schedule.

As we had earlier reported, it’s a three heroine subject with Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Agarwal and Nithya Menen playing the female leads. Apart from Vijay and the three lead ladies, the movie will also feature SJ Suryah, Sathyaraj, Vadivelu, Sathyan and Kovai Sarala in important roles.

KV Vijayendra Prasad who has written big budget blockbusters like Baahubali and Bhajrangi Bhaijaan has written the screenplay for the movie. Academy Award winner A R Rahman is the music director while debutant GK Vishnu is handling the cinematography. Ruben is in charge of the cuts. The movie is produced by Sri Thenandal Films.

We had recently reported that Mohanlal is returning back after an Ayurvedic treatment in Palakkad. The actor underwent a 21 day Ayurvedic treatment at Gurukripa Heritage Ayurvedic treatments in Koottanad.

Recently, the actor made an appearance for his fans who had visited him at the Ayurvedic centre. He waved at them and posed for photos with some of them. Mohanlal is seen sporting a grey beard with a scarf on his head. The actor looks much more fitter and robust in these photographs.

After completing the shoot for Major Ravi’s 1971 Beyond Borders in Georgia, Mohanlal went straight to the Ayurvedic centre in Palakkad. Reportedly, the actor followed a strict diet during the treatment and he will be following the same for the next three months also.

Mohanlal is expected to join the sets of B Unnikrishnan’s untitled movie by the first week of March. He is playing the role of an ex-cop in the movie. The actor underwent the testament to shed few kilos as the character in Unnikrishnan’s movie demanded a trimmer physique.

Manju Warrier will be seen as his wife in the movie while popular Kollywood star Vishal, Hansika Motwani, Telugu actor Srikanth and Raashi Khanna are also playing pivotal roles.

This yet to be titled movie is produced by Rockline Venkatesh who has earlier produced big budget films like Bhajrangi Bhaijaan and Lingaa.

We have a happy news to share with you all. The highly anticipated teaser of Mohanlal’s upcoming movie 1971 Beyond Borders will be released on March 2. The teaser will be shared directly on Mohanlal’s official Facebook page.

The movie, directed by Major Ravi is based on the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. Mohanlal is playing a dual role in the movie. He will be seen portraying the characters of Mahadevan and his father Sahadevan. It is the fourth movie in the Major Mahadevan series after Keerthichakra, Kurukshetra and Kandahar. However, this movie is centered around his father Sahadevan. He is also an army man who fought for the country in the 1971 war period.

Mohanlal fans and the movie lovers of the State are eagerly waiting for the teaser release. One question asked by many in social medias is whether the teaser can break the all time record set by Mammootty’s The Great Father.

1971 Beyond Borders is a multistarrer also featuring Tollywood hero Allu Sirish and Bollywood actor Arunoday Singh in pivotal roles. The team filmed the movie in three schedules. First schedule was completed in Rajasathan followed by a brief schedule in Palakkad. Shoot was finally completed in Georgia last month.

The movie also stars Asha Sarath, model turned actresses Priyanka Agarwal and Zoya Zayed Khan, Sudheer Karamana, Srushti Dange, Renji Panicker, Saiju Kurup and many other supporting actors.

Sujith Vassudev has handled the camera while Rahul Subramanian and Sidharth Vipin have scored the music. This big budget movie is produced by Haneef Mohammed under the banner Red Rose Creations.
