Nivin Pauly’s Sakhavu wrapped up

Nivin Pauly’s upcoming political drama Sakhavu, directed by National award winner Siddhartha Siva has finally been wrapped up. The team will now move into the post production works to ensure a smooth release by the end of March coinciding with the Vishu season.

Nivin Pauly is playing the character Krishna Kumar, a student political leader of the Left front. The actor has pinned high hopes on the movie. The actor had allotted bulk dates for the movie’s shoot. He had earlier informed that it will be an intense movie that will stay etched with the audience even for a long time.

According to Nivin, Sakhavu is not just another political drama. It will have equal doses of humour, romance and machismo. The movie was initially planned as a Christmas release but shooting got temporarily stalled due to financial crisis caused by the demonetisation.

Aparna Gopinath, Gayathri Suresh and Kollywood actress Aishwarya Rajesh are playing the female leads in the movie. Aparna Gopinath is playing Neeti, a student activist from JNU Delhi. Sreenivasan, Maniyan Pillai Raju, Joju George and many others are also part of the movie.

Popular Kollywood cinematographer George C Williams who has wielded the camera in movies like Theri, Kaththi and Raja Rani the DOP while Prashanth Pillai is handling the music department. The movie is being produced by B Rakesh under the banner Universal Cinema.

Recently there were reports that Vijay’s next after Atlee project will be with AR Murugadoss. It was reported that the favourite combo will team up for another commercial entertainer after the blockbuster success of Thuppakki and Kaththi.

But latest developments suggest that Vijay will do another movie before joining hands with AR Murugadoss. Music director SS Thaman had recently disclosed that he would be working with Vijay very soon, so there are speculations that he could be the music director of Vijay 62. We will have to wait for an official word from the actor’s side for details about the director and team.

Meanwhile, Vijay is currently shooting for his upcoming movie with Their director Atlee. The semi period drama is scripted by KV Vijayendra Prasad who has previously written movies like Baahubali and Bhajrangi Bhaijaan. The movie features three female leads in Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Agarwal and Nithya Menen.

Shoot for the movie is fast progressing in Chennai. The team have been shooting for the 80s portions in a huge set erected by the art department. It is reported that the first schedule for the movie will be wrapped on the 27th February. The movie is produced by the prestigious production house Sri Thenandal Films.

After the success of Rajadhiraja, director Ajai Vasudev has announced his next with Megastar Mammootty in the lead role. The movie is written by Udhayakrishna who is fresh from the historic success of Pulimurugan.

An official announcement was made yesterday in a press meet held at Crown Plaza Hotel in Dubai. Director Ajai Vasudev and Udhayakrishna attended the press meet along with their team.

The yet-to-be-titled movie will be a crime thriller set in the backdrop of a college. Mammootty is reportedly essaying the character of a college professor in this movie which will have much prominence to action.

Shaji Kumar who wielded the camera for Pulimurugan is the DOP. Anal Arasu will be choreographing the high voltage stunt sequences. CH Mohammed is producing this movie which will go on floors on April 9 in Kozhikode.

Mammootty, meanwhile is busy shooting for 7th Day fame Shyam Dhar’s untitled movie. The movie will be a light hearted entertainer featuring Nee-na fame Deepti Sati and Asha Sarath as the female leads. The actor is playing an Idukki native who comes to Kochi as a teacher trainer.

His next release will be the highly anticipated movie, The Great Father which is slated to hit screens on March 30. Directed by debutant Haneef Adeni, this revenge thriller also features an ensemble cast in Arya, Shaam, Sneha and Malavika Mohanan.

Another movie gearing up for release is Ranjith’s Puthan Panam. Mammootty is playing the character Nithyananda Shenoy, a middle aged businessman. The movie is scheduled to hit screens in April during the Vishu season.

National award winner Ram’s bilingual, Peranbu is also expected to hit screens by the end of April.

Prithviraj’s Ezra continues to do tremendous business in all the release centres in Kerala. Houseful shows are in full swing in almost all the theatres in the State.

According to latest reports from the sources, Ezra has crossed the 20 crore mark from the box office collections in Kerala alone. This is an outstanding opening for a Malayalam movie.

Ezra has grossed Rs 20.62 crores from its 12 days theatrical run. The movie registered a whopping Rs 2.65 crores on the opening day itself from around 125 screens in Kerala.

The numbers have only been soaring high as the positive word of mouth has helped the movie a great deal in doing such huge business.

The movie was released outside Kerala in 154 screens on February 17. It marked the biggest ever release for a Malayalam movie outside Kerala. It was released in UAE in places like Dubai, Ajman, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah.

Ezra, directed by debutant Jay K, is the first of it’s kind horror thriller in Mollywood. The movie throws light on the Jewish history in Kerala. The plot is set in two timelines, spanning from the 1940s to 2016.

Popular actress Priya Anand made her Mollywood debut through this movie. Tovino Thomas, Sudev Nair, Babu Antony, Sujith Shankar, debutante Ann Sheetal, Vijayaraghavan and Bharath Dabholkar have played supporting characters.

Mukesh R. Mehta, C. V. Sarathy and A. V. Anoop have jointly produced the movie under the banners of E4 Entertainment and AVA Productions.

Director Jayaraj’s highly anticipated epic historic drama Veeram is all set to hit screens tomorrow. The movie is an adaptation of the legendary Willaim Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The movie is director Jayaraj’s fifth in the Navarasa series.

The movie features Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor in the lead role of Chandu Chekavar, a warrior from the Vadakkan Pattukal of North Malabar region in Kerala. The character Chandu Chekavar has been played by many actors on screen and the most famous being Mammootty’s iconic performance im Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha.

Kunal Kapoor in a recent interview opened up his admiration of the Malayalam superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty.

He admitted to being a hard core fan of Mammootty and Mohanlal. Though he has watched almost all their movies, he is yet to watch Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha. The actor consciously stood away from the movie as he believed that he will try to emulate or maybe copy or pick up something from it. He felt that will take away from the originality in his performance. Kunal Kapoor also added that no one in the world could match Mammootty’s performance from the movie.

The actor trained hard for months to develop a warrior’s physique in addition to learning sword fight and the martial art, Kalaripayattu for playing his part in the movie.

Veeram is releasing amid tremendous hype after the impressive teasers that were shared by Bollywood superstars. Hrithik Roshan shared the trailer in his official Twitter account followed by Aamir Khan who also appreciated Kunal Kapoor’s hardwork. The country’s biggest superstar Amitabh Bachchan, released the official theme song of the movie today through his official Facebook page.

The movie is jointly produced by Chandramohan Pillai and Pradeep Rajan of Chandrakala Arts on a large canvas with a budget of nearly 35 crores.

Jayaraj roped in some popular names from the west to handle the technical departments of the movie. Allan Poppleton, who has worked in Hollywood films like Lord of the Rings and Avatar has choreographed the stunt sequences in the movie. Jeff Rona, who was an associate of the legendary Hans Zimmer, is handling the music department. Emmy and Acadmey Award winning make-up artist Trefor Proud is also part of the technical team of Veeram.

Superstar Mohanlal’s Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is doing fantastic business in Kerala. It has already crossed the 30 crore mark and is going unshaken at the box office even after a month of it’s release. The movie was released last week in Italy. Gods Own Country films distributed the movie in Italy. They have also distributed Mohanlal’s last two releases, Oppam and Pulimurugan in Italy.

The movie was screened last Sunday in Andromeda Cinemas in Rome. Around 800 people watched the movie from the three screens in the theatre. The collection figures of Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol have exceeded that of Pulimurugan thereby registering a new record to it’s name. Before Pulimurugan, the record was held by Nivin Pauly’s romantic entertainer Premam.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, directed by Vellimoonga fame features Mohanlal and Meena in the lead roles. M Sindhuraj scripted the movie based on James VJ’s famous short story Pranayopanishath. The story revolves around a middle aged couple who rediscover their lost love from the boredom of their routine life.

Mohanlal portrayed the character of Ulahannan, a panchayath secretary while Meena has played his wife Aniyamma, a homemaker. Aima Rose Sebastian and Sanoop Santhosh have essayed their kids characters in the movie.

Upon release, critics and common audience praised the movie unanimously for the performances of the lead cast and the relevant message it conveys.

Anoop Menon, Srinda Arhaan, Rahul Madhav, Kalabhavan Shajon, Alencier Ley Lopez, Neha Saxena, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Sharafudheen, Sudheer Karamana, Joy Mathew, Asha Sarath and many others have played supporting roles.

Ever since the news about the news of a popular Malayali actress getting assaulted in a moving car in Kochi was reported, several stories have been doing the rounds in social medias. One among them is the involvement of actor Dileep in the case.

Some online medias had earlier reported that there was enough evidence to prove Dileep’s involvement in the case. A photo of the actor’s fans association member was circulated in social medias accusing him to be the mastermind behind the attack. Some controversial statements from industry insiders about the involvement of a top star in the case further added fuel to the rumours.

Now, Dileep has lashed out the medias for trying to defame him by circulating baseless reports about his involvement in the case. Through a Facebook post, he has written that his name is unnecessarily dragged into the case. He was forced to share the post after some newspapers reported about a popular actor from Aluva being questioned by the police for investigation. Dileep, who hails from the region has made it clear that not only him but no other actor from Aluva has been questioned by the police with regard to this case.

“No policemen has been to my home or even contacted me through phone. Now it’s the duty of those who published the news to clarify the truth behind it.”

Dileep, in his post, has also mentioned about the recent dry spell in Malayalam cinema. The actor who is also a producer and a theatre owner, diplomatically put an end to the strike by forming a new union with the support of all other associations. In his post he has written that, those people who tried to ruin the film industry are now trying to make use of the situation by crucifying him. He has elucidated that he is in no way involved in the case and that he doesn’t even know those who are accused in the case. He concluded the post by requesting the officials to arrest the criminals at the earliest and produce them before the judiciary.

Dulquer’s Lal Jose movie is titled as Oru Bhayankara Kamukan and is written by Unni R, with whom he worked in the sensational Charlie. He is playing a nadan guy in the movie. Lal Jose has a knack of churning out commercial hits and hence expectations are on the higher side on this one also.

Pulimurugan director Vysakh has informed that his movie with Dulquer will be a high voltage mass entertainer. Though the actor has tried his quite a few genres, he has not done a full fledged mass role yet and Vysakh’s movie will be a perfect launch to that.
