Director Basil Joseph in a recent chat session with Onlookers Media, cleared the airs about the similarities between the movies.

Works for Godha started soon after my debut Kunjiramayanam was released in 2015. At that time Sultan and Dangal were not even announced. We had initially planned to release the movie on February 10, but due to various reasons it got postponed.

Scripting for the movie started in September 2015. It was only later that we heard about the wrestling backdrop of Dangal and Sultan. But, our movie didn’t have any similarities with them, so we decided to proceed forward. Only the wrestling theme is common, other than that the characters are all entirely different. Godha is more of a sports comedy.

Punjabi actress Wamiqa Gabbi is playing the female lead while screen writer turned actor Renji Panicker is also playing a pivotal character as Tovino’s father in Godha.

The movie is written by Thira fame Rakesh Mandoti. Music department is handled by Shaan Rahman while Vishnu Sarma has wielded the camera. Aanandam fame Abhinav Sunder Nayak is the editor.

Godha is funded by Mukesh R Mehta under the banner of E4Entertainment
