Lal not very keen to act in Tamil movies

Veteran actor Lal is someone who has made his mark for himself in thr Tamil film industry He has starred in several Kollywood movies, mostly in villainous roles. His villain role in Lingusamy’s Sandakozhi was much appreciated by the audience.

However, Lal is not very keen on taking up Tamil movies, especially antagonist roles who most often gets beaten to the pulp by the heroes. Lingusamy is now trying to rope in Lal to play the continuation of his villain character in the sequel to Sandakozhi. The actor might commit to movie as the director has promised that his character does not have any action scenes. Lal admits that acting in Tamil movies can earn more money but he is now giving more importance to his own satisfaction.

The actor was last seen in Fukri, directed by Siddique that had Jayasurya in the lead role. Of late he has been m getting some solid roles in Malayalam movies. Honey Bee 2: Celebrations, directed by his son Jean Paul Lal will be his next release. Lal has pinned hopes on this movie as he has a well fleshed out character to perform. Asif Ali, Bhavana, Baburaj Sreenath Bhasi and Balu Vargehes are also reprising their characters from the first part.

Lal is also playing a prominent role in debutant Althaf’s movie, Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela which has Nivin Pauly in the lead role. He will be seen as Nivin Pauly and Srinda Arhaan’s father in this family entertainer.

Last year, Malayalam cinema witnessed many terrific performances, but the stand out among them was Vinayakan’s in Kammatipaadam. The actor simply owned the movie with his stunning performance as Ganga.

Ganga was not a cake walk role. It was a very complex character that had many shades to it and it demanded someone who could get into the skin. Vinayakan’s portrayal of Ganga undoubtedly one of the finest by any Mollywood actor in recent times. Unfortunately, the actor did not get the due recognition in some channel awards which prompted social media to raise their voices against the injustice to Vinayakan.

Vinayakan has finally won an award in the special performance category in the recently announced Cera Vanitha Awards. Not only the audience, industry insiders were also wanted him to win a well deserved award. That was evident from actor Sunny Wayne’s recent post in his Facebook page.

The post reads,

“The moment we all waited for …. and finally …. so happy for u vinayakan Chettan…. and thanks to Vanitha awards”

It is really appreciable from Sunny Wayne’s part to acknowledge another actor without any sort of ego or starry airs.

After his stunning performance in Kammatipadam, Vinayakan will be next seen in Fahadh Faasil’s upcoming movie Role Models directed by Rafi. He has also bagged a plum role in Ordinary fame Sugeeth’s next movie that has Kunchacko Boban in the lead.

Tollywood actress Raashi Khanna will be making her Malayalam debut through B Unnikrishnan’s upcoming movie with Mohanlal in the lead. The actress will be seen as a police officer in the movie.
Raashi Khanna made her acting debut through the critically acclaimed Bollywood movie Madras Cafe. She played John Abraham’s wife in the movie.

B Unnikrishnan- Mohanlal team’s yet to be titled already has a star studded cast. Popular Kollywood star Vishal is making his Malayalam debut through this movie, playing a very pivotal character. Hansika Motwani and Telugu actor Srikanth will also be seen in prominent characters. Malayali actors Siddique, Aju Varghese and Chemban Vinod Jose are also part of the cast.

The movie is an investigative thriller in which Mohanlal is playing the role of an ex-cop. The actor is currently undergoing Ayurvedic treatment to shed few kilos for playing his part in the movie.

Rockline Venkatesh, who has funded movies like Lingaa and Bhajrangi Bhaijaan is producing this movie. An international company from Poland will be handling the VFX works. Manoj Paramahamsa, known for his works in movies like Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya and Nanban will be the cinematographer. Oppam fame 4 Musics have been roped in to compose music for this investigative thriller.

The movie will go on floors by the end of February in Ernakulam. Munnar and Vagamon are the other major locations.

Kerala Box Office : Ezra Collection Report 3 Days

Prithviraj’s latest release Ezra has taken a massive opening in the Kerala box office. The movie released on February 10 has collected Rs 8.53 crores from it’s first three days of release. On the opening day, the movie raked in 2.61 crores from the 125 odd screens in Kerala.

The weekend collections amounted to Rs 5.92 crores with collections of 2.91 crores from Saturday and 3.01 crores on Sunday. That marked the best ever opening for a Prithviraj movie.

Ezra had great hype even before the release majorly due to the horror thriller genre. The makers promised that the movie will be a never before seen horror experience in Malayalam. Going by the collection reports, Ezra has all the potential to become the biggest hit in Prithviraj’s career.

Ennu Ninte Moideen released in 2015 is his biggest blockbuster till date. The romantic entertainer directed by RS Vimal finds its finds it’s name in the prestigious 50 crore club of Mollywood.

Ezra is directed by newbie Jay K. It is said to be the first Indian movie to have a core plot about the Jewish community in Kerala. The movie has two timelines, spanning from the 1940s to 2016.

Popular South Indian actress Priya Anand marked her Mollywood debut through this movie. Tovino Thomas, Sudev Nair, Babu Antony, debutante Ann Sheetal, Prathap Pothen, Vijayaraghavan, Alencier Ley Lopez and Bharath Dabholkar are also part of the cast.

While Sujith Vaassudev cranked the camera, music department was handled by Rahul Raj and Sushin Shyam. Vivek Harshan was in charge of the edits. Mukesh R. Mehta, C. V. Sarathy and A. V. Anoop have jointly produced the film under the banners E4 Entertainment and AVA Productions.

Mammootty’s upcoming movie The Great Father is gearing up for a grand release on March 30. The movie’s teaser was released on February 10 to tremendous response from the viewers. It has already fetched more than 50 lakh views in just three days time. With this, the Mammootty starrer has outnumbered the social media views of Aamir Khan’s blockbuster movie Dangal.

The Great Father team used a new option called cross posting to release the teaser in Facebook. Unlike the usual YouTube releases, this time the teaser was uploaded directly on Facebook.

Cross posting makes it easy to post videos to multiple pages at the same time. The teaser was shared on Mammootty, Prithviraj and Dulquer Salmaan’s official pages at a time through cross posting. Through this, even if the video is shared by others, views will be directly attached to the original video. This helps in publicising the movie to a wider audience.

The Great Father is written and directed by newbie Haneef Adeni. The 33 second teaser features a brilliantly filmed introduction scene of Mammootty’s character David Nynan. The actor is in his stylish best sporting the killer beard which has already become a trend. Mammootty’s stylish slow motion walk with Gopi Sunder’s terrific background score reminds one of Amal Neerad’s Big B.

Sneha is playing Mammootty’s wife, Michelle David in the movie. Kollywood actor Arya will be seen in a pivotal character as Andrews Eapen. Shaam, Malavika Mohanan, IM Vijayan, Kammatipadam fame Manikandan Achari and Baby Anikha are also part of the cast. Roby Varghese Raj has wielded the camera for this movie produced by August Cinemas.

Mohanlal’s latest release Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is doing great business in all the release centres. The movie released on January 20 has already collected above 30 crores.

Meanwhile, producer of the movie Sophia Paul has decided to file case against some Mohanlal fans who allegedly have been abusing her and her son Kevin Paul. Some of them have spewed abuses in their Facebook walls and through personal messages for not publicising the movie. From their part, the fans accuse that even after the movie becoming such a big success, the makers have failed to print new posters.

Sophia Paul who is currently in Dubai has decided to file a case against some Mohanlal fans for personally abusing her and their production house.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is written by M Sindhuraj and directed by Vellimoonga fame Jibu Jacob. Sophia Paul’s Weekend Blockbusters have bankrolled this movie. Mohanlal and Meena have played the lead roles in the movie.

Though the movie was initially scheduled to release for Christmas, it got postponed due to the cinema strike. Both the director and producer had expressed their disappointment over the loss of a theatrical release during the Christmas holiday season.

Upon release, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol garnered unanimous appreciation from the critics and the general audience. Families have taken a particular liking for the movie which revolves around a middle aged couple who rediscover their lost love from the boredom of their routine life.

Nivin Pauly’s highly anticipated movie Sakhavu is in it’s final stages. New poster for this movie helmed by National award winner Siddhartha Siva was released today. The movie already has huge hype majorly due to the communist backdrop. As we all know, political dramas be it a satire or an intense kind has always been lapped up by the Malayali audience.

Nivin Pauly is playing the character of Krishna Kumar, a student political leader of the Left front.
The actor has pinned high hopes on the movie. He had earlier informed that it will be an intense movie that will stay etched with the audience even after coming out of the cinema halls.

According to Nivin, Sakhavu is not plainly a political drama. It will have equal amounts of humour, romance and machismo. The actor has allotted bulk dates for the movie’s shoot. The movie went on for floors right after the release of Nivin’s Jacobinte Swargarajyam in April last year. Shoot for the movie happened in different schedules. In between that, shooting got temporarily stalled due to financial crisis caused by the demonetisation.

Aparna Gopinath, Jamna Pyari fame Gayathri Suresh and Kollywood actress Aishwarya Rajesh are playing the female leads in the movie. Aparna Gopinath is playing Neeti, a student activist from JNU Delhi. Sreenivasan, Maniyan Pillai Raju, Joju George and many others are also part of the movie.

Popular Kollywood cinematographer George C Williams who has worked in movies like Theri, Kaththi and Raja Rani is cranking the camera while Prashanth Pillai is handling the music department. The movie is being produced by B Rakesh under the banner Universal Cinema.

Actor turned filmmaker Soubin Shahir is currently busy the shoot of his debut directorial Parava.
It must be remembered that Soubin before turning into acting, has worked as an assistant to directors like Siddique, Amal Neerad and Anwar Rasheed.

Parava stars Kismath fame Shane Nigam and some comers in the lead roles. Young star Dulquer Salmaan is playing a cameo role in this movie. The actor was recently spotted shooting for the movie with a new look. He is seen sporting a wild beard without a moustache, a look the actor hasn’t tried before. Though it’s a cameo role, his character will be of great importance in the storyline. He will be shooting for around 20 days for the film.

This is the second time Dulquer is playing a guest appearance. Last year he did a similar role in Sunny Wayne’s Ann Maria Kalipilanu, directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas.

Soubin Shahir has acted with Dulquer Salmaan in movies like Charlie and Kali. He was also seen in Dulquer’s Kammatipadam though they did not have any combination scenes. The two will also be seen sharing screen space in Amal Neerad’s upcoming movie CIA aka Comrade In America.

Parava is jointly scripted by Soubin Shahir and Muneer Ali. Little Swayamp noted for his works in popular band Thaikkudam Bridge’s Navarasa series is cranking the camera for this movie. Praveen Prabhakar is in charge of the cuts.

Popular filmmaker Anwar Rasheed is producing the movie under his banner Anwar Rasheed Entertainments. Parava will be his third production venture after the blockbusters Bangalore Days and Premam.

Mohanlal recently wrapped his portions for Major Ravi’s 1971: Beyond Borders in Georgia. He will soon be joining the sets of B Unnikrishnan’s upcoming movie. The yet to be titled movie is an investigative thriller, in which Mohanlal will be seen as an ex-cop. Though his character name is not yet known, he is playing a Christian in the movie.

Mohanlal is currently undergoing a treatment in Poomully Ayurveda Mana to shed a few kilos for his new movie. Reportedly, his character in the movie demanded a trim look so the actor went straight to Poomully after returning back from Georgia.

Popular Kollywood actor Vishal is playing a pivotal role in the movie. One of the leading ladies of the South industry, Hansika will also be seen in a prominent role. Another big name in the cast is Telugu actor Srikanth. Siddique, Aju Varghese and Chemban Vinod Jose are also part of the movie.

Liberty Basheer, the former president of Kerala State Exhibitors Federation has lost all his power and that is evident from the movies being screened in his Liberty Complex in Thalassery.

Liberty Basheer headed the exhibitors’ cinema strike demanding a 50-50 profit share from theatrical collections. The strike stalled the release of several movies scheduled to release for Christmas. Malayalam film industry witnessed a strange 35- 40 days without even a single release. Finally with the intervention of actor Dileep, a new union was formed with the support of producers and distributors association.

All the movies scheduled to release for Christmas, Jomonte Suvisheshangal, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, Fukri and Ezra have now been released. However, theatres owned by Liberty Basheer and some of his associates have not got the new releases. This is because they have still not given the written agreement which the producers and distributors had demanded from all theatre owners, stating to comply with their conditions.

Liberty Basheer’s Liberty complex in Thalassery houses five screens. Currently, only four of them is functioning. Little Paradise, Liberty Movie House and Mini Paradise are screening C class semi porn movies like Pathimoonampakkam Paarkkam, Secret girls 009, Pollathaval. Other two movies being screened in the complex are Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Tamil actor Sasikumar’s Balle Vellaiyathevaa.

The current position of Libery Basheer is now the trending topic of trolls in social medias. Once an authoritarian who had the final word whether to release movies or not is now screening semi porn movies in his theatres.
