Kerala Box Office : Pulimurugan Collection Report 43 Days

Pulimurugan had completed 6 weeks run here in Kerala and entered the 7th week in style. The movie still has 430+ shows per day here in Kerala and it is a record. The flick had broken every single box office records existing in Kerala Box office.

Not only in Kerala Market, but also in rest of India and Overseas market as well, Pulimurugan is the biggest success from Mollywood. At markets like New Zealand, UAE/GCC, this film had become the biggest South Indian success.

The flick has been now cruising towards 150 crore mark and the Telugu release of the movie to happen in coming December.

As per the reports from trade analysts in our industry, the 43 day Kerala gross of the movie is around 70.3 crore and the share earned by the movie from Kerala alone is near 33 crore.

The worldwide collection of the movie had crossed 115 crore. The collection from rest of India market is around 10 crore and the UAE/GCC market contributed near 28 crore till last update. The collection from USA/UK together is moving towards 4 crore and gross from New Zealand and Australia region had surpassed 1.5 crore.

From other areas in overseas market, it had grossed near 75 lakhs as well. The flick had done a pre-release business of 15 crore and the total business dine by the movie as of now is more than 130 crores.

Mammootty’s new look for Puthan Panam trending in social media

We had earlier reported that director Ranjith’s will be directing Megastar Mammootty in a new movie titled as Puthan Panam.

Mammootty is seen in a new get up with a thick twirled mustache for the movie. Some of the photos of the Mega Star sporting this look have already started trending in social media pages.

The movie will go on floors officially on November 25th. Shoot will happen in various locations in Kochi, Kasargod and Goa.

Puthan Panam comes with a tagline ‘The New Indian Rupee’. There are unconfirmed reports that this new movie will be similar to director Ranjith’s National award winning film Indian Rupee starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and late actor Thilakan in the lead.

Reportedly, Puthan Panam will focus on the current financial constraints present in the society. The movie will also star veteran actor Siddique, Renji Panicker, Sai Kumar, Ineya, Harish Kanaran, Nirmal Palazhi, Mamukoya, Swaraj and others in supporting roles.

Ranjith has earlier joined hands with Mammootty for some critically acclaimed blockbuster movies like Kaiyyoppu, Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha and Pranchiyettan and the Saint.
Their last movie Kadal Kadannoru Mathukutty was a disaster in the box office.

Puthan Panam is funded by a new production company 3 Color Cinemas. Director Ranjith, actor Arun Narayanan and Mumbai based businessman Abraham Mathew together own the company.

Cinematography will be handled by popular cameraman Om Prakash who has worked the camera for movies like Kashmora and Maari. Shabaaz Aman is the music director for Puthan Panam.

We had earlier reported that the first look poster for Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming movie 2.0 will be released today.

The makers have planned a grand event for the launch that will be attended by prominent film personalities across the country.

The event is held in the famous Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai. The programmed is streamed live through Lyca Productions official YouTube channel.

Bollywood director/producer Karan Johar will be launching the first look. Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, A R Rahman and many other top stars from other industries are attending the event with other top celebrities.

Directed by Shankar, one of the top filmmakers in the country, 2.0 is the sequel of the blockbuster movie Enthiran released in 2010.

2.0 is being made on a massive budget of 350 crores and the shoot is nearing completion. Reportedly post production works for the movie will extend upto 9 months.

Kollywood actor Karthi enjoys a fair share of popularity in Kerala eventhough not as much like his brother Suriya. Karthi is slowly gaining a foothold among the Malayali audience.

The charming actor is currently working with legendary director Mani Ratnam in his upcoming movie Kaatru Veliyidai.

Karthi’s last release was Kashmora a horror-fantasy-comedy drama in which he played dual roles in two different get ups. Though the movie did not do well at the box office, Karthi’s performance was highly appreciated.

Karthi in a recent interview has said that he is waiting for an exciting script to make his entry to Mollywood. He has already met many directors from the industry, but apparently the scripts were not really exciting.

Karthi recently entered Telugu film industry through the bilingual Oopiri which was made as Thozha in Tamil. Karthi starred alongside superstar Nagarjuna in the movie. Mollywood heartthrob Dulquer Salmaan and Karthi were earlier set to star together in a movie directed by Mani Ratnam.

But the project could not take off owing to Karthi’s busy schedule. He was busy with his earlier commitments Thozha and Kaashmora. Both the movies were initially scheduled to release last year but got postponed.

Karthi who has worked as an assistant to Mani Ratnam is all excited to act in the ace filmmaker’s movie. Kaatru Veliyidai stars Aditi Rao Hydari as the female lead.

Mohanlal is currently shooting for 1971 Beyond Borders directed by Major Ravi in Rajasthan. Apart from Mohanlal the movie has an ensemble cast, including Telugu actor Allu Sirish and Bollywood actor Arunoday Singh.

Now the latest addition to the cast is actress Zoya Zayed Khan, a North Indian by birth. She has been living in Kerala for the past few years.

Zoya has said that her character in the movie is not a typical heroine kind. She is playing a Pakistani doctor in the war movie. All the characters in the movie are army officers in with equal importance to everyone.

Reportedly Zoya’s portion appears in Mohanlal’s character’s flashback. Interestingly, Zoya has a Pakistani background in real life too. Her father is originally from Kabul.

Director Major Ravi spotted her in a serial and cast her for the movie. The actress says her director is very disciplined and always wants the best out of his actors. Major Ravi is apparently happy with Zoya’s performance.

Zoya has been working hard in the industry for the past 10 years doing serials, modelling and anchoring. Finally her hardwork has paid off. The actress says she is very lucky to act in her debut movie with two of her favourite actors Mohanlal and Arunoday Singh.

Zoya Zayed Khan will not have any combination scenes with Mohanlal. Her portions are mostly with Arunoday Singh.

The movie also stars Renji Panicker, Saiju Kurup, Sudheer Karamana and mode turned actress Priyanka Agarwal in supporting roles.

1971 : Beyond Borders is based on the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. Sujith Vassudev is the cinematographer for this war movie. It is a budget movie produced by Haneef Mohammed under the banner Red Rose Creations.

Ezra starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and popular South Indian actress Priya Anand in the lead is gearing up for release this Christmas.

Directed by debutant Jayakrishnan aka Jay K, Ezra is a horror thriller. The teaser for the movie was released last week to good reception. This movie is highly awaited by the Malayali audience.

Malayalam cinema has only had a very few standard horror thrillers. Ezra is not expected to be the usual run of a mill kind of movie.

Director Jay K who has also written the movie, in a recent interview has said that Ezra will have every ingredient that one would expect from a horror thriller.

Apart from some thrilling moments, Ezra will also have a solid storyline. The movie will have an entirely different background that has not been tried in Malayalam cinema yet, said the director.

Ezra was earlier in the news after the shooting team reported about some bizarre incidents during the filming stages. There were reports of spooky incidents while shooting in a bungalow in Fort Kochi. The makers later hired a priest to bless the shooting location.

The movie is produced by Mukesh R Mehta and C V Saradhi under the banner E 4 Entertainment.

Kalavoor Ravikumar’s upcoming movie Kuttikalund Sookshikkuka is gearing up for release this month. The movie was scheduled to release last month, but was postponed due to the huge success of Pulimurugan.

But director Kalavoor Ravikumar is now facing a new problem in the form of cash shortage due to the demonetisation move initiated by the government.

Kalavoor Ravikumar has said that the Prime Minister’s sudden move has affected the entertainment industry adversely.

Kuttikalund Sookshikkuka is scheduled to release on November 25th. But thetares in Kerala are wearing a deserted look. People are spending money only for their day to day needs. As a result the entertainment industry has been largely affected by the scrapping of 500 and 1000 rupee notes.

Kalavoor Ravikumar has said that it is very difficult to postpone the release of movies repeatedly. The posters have already been printed, thetares are blocked, movie has also been uploaded to UFO and cube. So postponing the movie again can incur huge losses for the producer.

Theatre owners should stand by the producers in this dire situation. Good movies should be encouraged and not removed from screening very soon, said the director.

Gautham Menon had earlier planned to direct a movie with Vijay titled Yohan Adhyayam Ondru. The movie was an action thriller in which Vijay was set to play the role of a CIA detective.

But the much awaited project did not materialize. Gautham Menon dropped the movie just 10 days before the shoot was scheduled to start.

Gautham Menon has said that Vijay was unaware of his treatment as the actor had not watched any of his previous movies. Yohan Adhyayam Ondru was an international subject that Vijay felt will not appeal to the masses and his huge fan base.

The director added that he would have taken the movie forward if Vijay had nodded his for the project. Gautham Menon also said that the movie would have surely been a superhit.

Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada was the director’s last release. The movie starred Simbu and Manjima Mohan in the lead. AYM was opened to great numbers in the box office but received mixed response from the audience.

Actress Anju Aravind has recently in an interview said that she was present for late actor Kalabhavan Mani’s last show before he passed away. She said she has nothing to hide from anyone. Earlier there were reports about Anju Aravind present in the actor’s guest house (Paadi) during his last few hours.

But the actress has said that she many people used to visit Kalabhavan Mani but she was not there during that time. Anju Aravind said that she shared a very good friendship with Kalabhavan Mani. They both have acted in a lot of movies together. Anju also said that, there were many gossips about them during that time.

Both of them acted together for the first time in the movie Aksharam. Meanwhile the accused Arun, Murugan, Aneesh, Vipin, Peter were all summoned for lie detection tests as part of the investigation.

But the results did not reveal anything unusual in their statements. Kalabhavan Mani’s brother RLV Ramakrishnan has said that they will move forward with the legal proceedings until the truth is brought to light.

Aanandam enters 5th week in theatres

Aanandam, a movie about travel and friendship of a group of students in an engineering college was well received by the audience. Aanandam received appreciation from both the critics and the audience . The movie is now successfully entering its 5th week in theatres This light hearted entertainer was directed by debutant Ganesh Raj, a long time associate of Vineeth Sreenivasan.

Vineeth Sreenivasan entered production through this movie. He funded the movie along with Vinod Shornur under their banners Habit of Life and Cast n Crew. Aanandam starred seven new comers in the lead roles. The movie dealt with the incidents happening during the 4 day trip from an engineering college as part of their Industrial Visit.

Aanandam before release was tagged as a small movie due to the absence of big names in the cast or the crew. Most of the crew members in the movie are also youngsters with many of them making their debut. The film received good word of mouth from the audience mainly the youngsters.

Playback singer turned music director Sachin Warrier made his debut as a composer in Aanandam. All the songs were well received and helped in promoting the movie among the family audience.

It is indeed remarkable that a small movie like Aanandam without major stars is successfully entering the 5th week in theatres.
