Director Vinayan on Pulimurugan’s success

Director Vinayan through his Facebook page has congratulated the team of Pulimurugan for the massive success.

He had words of praise for producer Tomichan Mulakupadam, director Vysakh for getting the best out of the technicians and Mohanlal for the efforts and dedication he took for the movie.

Vinayan writes, Pulimurugan has showed that movies can be made on a big canvas. I had been planning to make a movie on such a big canvas ever since I did Athbutha Dweepu years back. I had the same wish even while re-releasing his next 3D movie Little Supeman. But I did not have a brave producer who could invest in the project.

Pulimurugan can collect more than 150 crores, but the issue of piracy should not be taken lightly. The police and authorities should take piracy just like a bank robbery or any other crime.

Apart from creating huge loss for the producer, piracy also affects the government through the tax money.
There was complete control when Rishi Raj Singh handled the piracy issue. So I believe he should be made in charge for abolishing piracy again, writes Vinayan.

Pirated copies of Pulimurugan was found in some websites before cyber cell officials removed them. Pirated DVDs of the movie was recently caught from Kannur.

Pulimurugan is Mollywood’s pride that has shown that we can produce huge commercial blockbusters as well. So we urge people not to encourage piracy and enjoy the movie only from theatres.

Megastar Mammootty had recently attended the Sharjah International Book Fair. A fun-filled interaction session was arranged with his fans hosted by Mithun Ramesh and actress Nyla Usha.

The book fair was attended by hundreds of Malayalies and many foreigners. Mammootty addressed the gathering with an interesting speech.

Later te interaction was arranged where fans asked various questions to the star about his personal and professional life.

During the session, a fan asked a very surprising question to the star. The middle aged man asked Mammootty about why he is not very social like Mohanlal. There is a general conception about Mammootty that he is not very social and he is a bit arrogant while meeting strangers.

After hearing the question Mammootty replied with a tongue in cheek question “who should change the conception, me or the general public?” His reply was received with loud applause by the audience.

Interestingly, Mammootty earlier in his speech had said that his fans and the audience are his biggest strength and the reason for his so called arrogance.

Mammootty has been made his part clear about these allegations. He has always maintained that he is an actor only the screen. He finds it very difficult to greet and smile at a person, even a fan, who he is meeting for the first time.

Mammootty’s next movie The Great Father is gearing up for release in the Christmas season. It is a revenge thriller directed by debutant Haneef Adeni and produced by August Cinemas.

Mohanlal is having an astonishing year, may be his best year in the past decade when we consider commercial success. He has released 4 movies this year in two different languages. Out of that two movies have entered the 100 crore club and one movie has crossed the 50 crore mark.

Mohanlal started the year with Manamantha, his Telugu debut. The movie was a critically acclaimed one that earned appreciation for Mohanlal from the Telugu critics.

His next release was again in Telugu, Janatha Garage with Jr NTR. This mass entertainer was a blockbuster that collected over 100 crores from the Box office. Janatha Garage is the biggest hit in Tollywood this year. Mohanlal had an equally important and powerful which the actor completely owned with his effortless performance. While Manamantha earned him critical appreciation, Janatha Garage made him popular among the Telugu audience.

He returned back to Mollywood after a gap with Oppam directed by master filmmaker Priyadarshan. Oppam, released during the Onam season had Mohanlal in fine form as the blind Jayaraman. Oppam received was both critically and commercially acclaimed. The crime thriller entered the 50 crore club and was the fastest from Mollywood to do so before Mohanlal’s next release bettered the record.

Pulimurugan recently became the first Malayalam movie to enter the 100 crore club. It is an extraordinary achievement that looked far away for a Malayalam movie. But Mohanlal with his mass appeal and box office power has showed that Malayalam movies have the potential to make good business.

Finally Megastar Mammootty reveals about Karnan movie

Megastar Mammootty’s magnum opus Karnan has been the topic of discussion for sometime now. There is still doubts on whether the project is happening or not.

Mammootty in a recent interaction with his fans in UAE, was asked by someone about the status of Karnan. The actor said that he is not supposed to talk about the movie right now. He also said that when the makers are the ones to divulge more about the movie.

Karnan is written by actor/screen writer P Sreekumar. He had announced the movie few months back. He had said that he was writing the script for many years and Mammootty would be playing the character of Karnan. National award winning filmmaker Madhupal will direct this epic director.

But after that there was no official announcement regarding the movie for sometime. There were reports about Mammootty dropping the project because he did not want to have a competition with Prithviraj, who incidentally is also doing a movie titled Karnan.

But P Sreekumar recently said that the project is indeed happening and Mammootty will play the lead. He also said that the scripting is in its final stages and will take some time to start shooting. He also said that they are planning to make the movie on a budget of 70 crores.

Meanwhile post production for Prithviraj’s Karnan is fast progressing and the movie will go on floors by March. This movie will be directed by Ennu Ninte Moideen fame RS Vimal. This epic drama is planned on a massive scale with a budget of over 300 crores.

Fans and Cine goers of the state are still awaiting for an official word from writer P Sreekumar or director Madhupal about when Karnan will go on floors.

We had earlier reported that Dulquer Salmaan is currently shooting for Jomonte Suvisheshangal directed by senior director Sathyan Anthikad.

It has been 4 years since Dulquer has made his debut in the film industry, but this is the first time he is working with a senior team.

Veteran actor Mukesh is playing Dulquer’s father in the movie. In an recent interview, Mukesh said that during the initial few days of shoot, once his shot was over Dulquer would go straight into the caravan. He did not go near where Mukesh and Innocent would be sitting. Mukesh said that may be because of the fact that we are his father’s friends, he did not try to mingle too much with us.

But once the ice was broken, he started spending time with us in the sets. Just like Mammootty, Dulquer also is very humorous and laughs out loud even at small jokes, said Mukesh.

Mukesh was close to Mammootty’s family and knew Dulquer Salmaan even before the latter entered the film industry. Mukesh’s son and Dulquer studied in the same school in Chennai.

Mukesh also said that Dulquer is a quality actor with a promising future ahead.

This is the first time Mukesh and Dulquer will be sharing screen space. The plot of Jomonte Suvisheshangal focusses on their father-son relationship.

Apart from Mukesh and Dulquer, this family entertainer also stars Premam fame Anupama Parameswaran, Kollywood actress Aishwarya Rajesh, Tamil actor Madhubala, Vinu Mohan, Innocent and Muthumani playing other important roles.

Jomonte Suvisheshangal is written by Dr. Iqbal Kuttippuram and produced by Sethu Manarkkad under the banner Full Moon Cinemas. The film is scheduled for a Christmas release.

Ajai Vasudev who made his directorial debut with Megastar Mammootty starrer Rajadhiraja has lashed out at those who are spreading pirated copies of the latest blockbuster Pulimurugan.

Pulimurugan is the latest movie in Malayalam to be affected by piracy. Some of the websites had earlier published the pirated copies of the movie which was later removed by the Cyber Cell.

Director Ajai Vasudev through his Facebook page, has urged people not to share the copies. He said that Pulimurugan is a kind of movie that should be enjoyed only in theaters. Only when watching on big screens with the superior picture quality and sound effects, movies like Pulimurugan can be enjoyed.

He has even written about the example of the magnum opus Baahubali, that demanded a theatrical view. People should not criticize such movies after watching it from smaller screens. He urged for the support of the audience in eliminating piracy by reporting to the team.

Pulimurugan is already the biggest blockbuster in Mollywood history. The movie has already collected around 105 crores from the Box Office. Pulimurugan is also getting excellent reports from foreign centers like Middle East and other European countries.

Many reports had claimed it to be actress Amala Rose Kurian, who has acted in some television serials. The actress was well known for roles in Malayalam serials like Paadasarm and Sthreedhanam.

“Recently, a girl named Amala was arrested for an immoral traffic case from Thodupuzha. Soon many people misunderstood me to be that person. “Even the people who committed the mistake deserve justice that the law is supposed to give. But still I am being harassed for a mistake I have not committed. I just want to ask one question to all those people who are abusing me without realizing the truth behind the incident: Would you do the same if it had happened to your sister? Or would you try to find out the reality behind it? I request all the social media friends not to torment me based on some fake news. I also wish to live here peacefully. Please try to find out what the truth is”, the actress writes in her Facebook post.

Suriya as the forthright cop Durai Singam is back in action with the trademark handle bar mustache. The 85 second was very poor and indicates that the movie is just another commercial potboiler.

Just like any other typical Hari movie teaser, the cuts were racy, fast and abrupt. Add to that the over the top loud bass beats from the usually reliable Harris Jayaraj.

Devi Sri Prasad who handled the music in the first two parts was replaced with Harris Jayaraj, but there seems to be no difference.
