Kottayam Kunjacahan team to join together for a movie

Kottayam Kunjachan is one of the most popular movies in Mammootty’s career and it was released in the year 1990.

It had become a box office success and still has great number of followers for it. Kottayam Kunjachan was directed by TS Suresh Babu and scripted by Dennis Joseph.

Now reports are coming in that this team is all set to join hands again for a movie next year, but the screenplay of this upcoming movie will be written by popular writer/actor Renji Panicker.

There is no official announcement had come about this film, but reports says that it is now in its planning stage and official announcement will come very soon.

M Mani had produced Kottayam Kunjachan under the banner of Sunitha Productions.

Popular actress Renjini played the female lead in that movie and artists like KPAC Lalitha, Innocent, Sukumaran, Pratapa Chandran, Babu Antony, Baiju, Kunjan, Ravi Vallathol etc also played important characters in it.

It is after 26 years that he team behind the movie is coming together for a new project. Renji Panicker had earlier scripted for Mammootty movies like The King, Dubai, Roudram and The King and the Commissioner. Among this, only The King had become a big box office success.

Mammootty’s next release will be The Great Father directed by debutant Haneef Adeni and August Cinemas is producing it.

Not many Malayalam movies have touched the 50 crore club. Drishyam, Ennu Ninte Moideen, Premam, 2 Countries and more recently Oppam are the movies that have officially grossed more than 50 crores from Mollywood.

Now the latest to join the list is another Mohanlal starrer Pulimurugan. Pulimurugan directed by Vysakh was released on October 7th to tremendous reception. The movie was released amidst humongous hype and expectations.

Pulimurugan continues to create waves at the box office even . Houseful shows are on even after three weeks from its release. Now the movie has officially crossed the 50 crore mark.

Pulimurugan is on course to beat Drishyam and end up as the all time highest grosser of Malayalam Cinema. It is a rare phenomenon where we see two Mohanlal movies running with packed theatres at the same time.

As of now Drishyam is the highest grossing Malayalam movie. Mohanlal now has three 50 crore movies in Drishyam, Oppam and Pulimurugan.

Pulimurugan released during the Pooja holidays triggered a never before seen rush in theatres across the state.

Pulimurugan is an action packed entertainer produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam under his banner Mulakupadam films.

Pulimurugan was made on a budget of around 25 crores and it is indeed remarkable that the movie was grossed double the amount within three weeks from release.

But for a change this time star kids are trying their luck in playback singing. Actor Indrajith’s daughters Nakshathra and Prarthana have sung a new song for Gopi Sunder in the new Mammootty movie The Great Father.

Music director Gopi Sunder has earlier also composed songs sung by many stars like Dulquer Salmaan, Prithviraj and Nazriya Nazim.

The Great Father is directed by debutant Haneef Adeni. The movie is said to be a crime thriller. There is also an emotional part to the movie about a father- daughter bondin. Baby Anikha is playing the daughter character in the movie.

Mammootty is playing a character named David in the movie. Kollywood actor Arya is also playing an important role in this movie. Sneha,Miya and Kammatipadam fame Manikandan Achari are playing other important roles in the movie.

It is to be remembered that Indrajith’s brother Prithviraj is co-producing this movie along with Santosh Sivan, Shaji Natesan and Arya under their banner August Cinemas.

Prithviraj shared photos of the kids with Gopi Sunder during the recording, in his official Facebook page. The Great Father is scheduled to hit screens as a Christmas release.

Telugu actor Allu Sirish is all set to make his entry into Malayalam Cinema. He will be playing an important role in the new movie directed by Major Ravi, in which Mohanlal is playing the lead role.

Allu Sirish is the brother of Allu Arjun, who enjoys a massive fan base among the youths of Kerala.
Allu Sirish is also a great dancer just like his brother.

The actor will be playing the role of a tank commander in the new movie. He is all excited about the movie after getting such a huge opportunity. He recently said that the movie is neither jingoistic nor anti-Pakistan. It is a human emotional drama.

Allu Sirish’s last movie was Srirastu Subhamastu in Telugu. The movie was released on August 5th and was opened to positive response.

Major Ravi has previously made the ‘Major Mahadevan series’ with Mohanlal in three movies. Keerthichakra, Kurukshetra and Kandahar were the films. After that he directed Mohanlal in Karmayodha where he played the role of an encounter specialist. The movie did not do well at the box office.

Major Ravi’s last release was Picket 43, again an army movie but a slightly different one. Prithviraj played the lead in the movie. Bollywood actor Javed Jaffery played an important character as a Pakistani soldier in the movie. The film was a commercial success.

This new movie is said to be filmed in the backdrop of 1971 Indo-Pakistani war. The 1971 war between India and Pakistan was a direct confrontation between the two nations during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation war.

The extensive preproduction works for the movie are already on. Sources indicate that filming will only start by next year.

Today the first glimpse of Baahubali 2 was launched. The first-look poster of the next chapter — Baahubali: The Conclusion, was released by S S Rajamouli at the MAMI 18th Mumbai Film Festival.

The first look poster shows Prabhas as Baahubali walking majestically with a sword in one hand and a chain wrapped around other arm.

The move is said to be in its final filming stages with two more songs and a couple of action sequences.

Simultaneously the VFX works are also going on. The magnum opus is scheduled as a summer release, set to release on April 28, 2017.

There is no stopping the film in box office and it had already made a place in the 50 crore club in Mollywood. The reason behind the trending of Pulimurugan in its 3rd week is the report that came related to the remake of this film in Hindi and Telugu.

Some reports came that Bollywood Super Star Salman Khan may play the lead in the Hindi remake and Baahubali actor Prabhas may play the lead in the Telugu version of the movie.

Film lovers all over India is waiting now to know who will play the character of Pulimurugan, which Mohanlal had made immortal. Ramesh Pillai’s Abhishek Films said to have bought the remake rights of this movie in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

But, last day, the writer of this film, Uday Krishna came out and said that the reports related to the remake of Pulimurugan is all fake.

They are planning to dub the movie in other languages and there is no plans to remake it as of now, says Uday Krishna. The remake rights are not yet sold and only the dubbing rights of the movie has been sold as of now.

The Telugu dubbed version of the film will hit the screens soon and it is titled as Manyam Puli.

He started off his success run with the Telugu movie Janatha Garage, directed by Kortala Siva. Mohanlal played the lead role alongside Tollywood superstar Jr NTR. Janatha Garage is the biggest blockbuster in Telugu Industry in this year. It was also the biggest hit in Jr NTR’s career.

Last day Janatha Garage completes its 50 day run in theatres. This action packed mass entertainer was released on September 2nd in around 2000 theatres worldwide.

Janatha Garage’s satellite rights were brought by Maa TV for a record price. The movie will be having its first premiere telecast in Tv on Diwali day. According to reports the satellite rights were brought for a whopping 12.5 crores.

Mohanlal’s recent releases in Malayalam, Oppam and Pulimurugan are both blockbusters and have entered the prestigious 50 crore club of Mollywood.
