Theri beats Bahubali in the first weekend gross collection record at Chennai

Ilaya Thalapathy is now in the mood to break some records and also create new ones. His latest release Theri had already created some by breaking some. At first it had made better Vijay’s own record he made through Kaththi. Kaththi had grossed a record 12 cr+ from its opening day from Tamil Nadu. Theri had surpassed it by making 13 cr+ from its opening day at Tamil Nadu. It had collected more than 1 crore alone from Tamil Nadu. The next 3 days which followed also showed good figures for the film and now it had broken the first weekend gross collection record made by Bahubali in Chennai.

The film had grossed around 3.06 crores from Chennai on its first weekend. It had broken the records made by films like Kaththi (3.0 crores), Puli (2.84) and Bahubali (1.66 crores). Theri had 456 shows in Chennai on its opening weekend. The film is doing great and decent collection is there for the film in working days as well.

As per reports the worldwide gross of the film had crossed 60 crore mark and the official confirmation about the figures expected to come very soon.

The flick has got positive reports all around globe and had done splendid business overseas too. The film is conceived by Raj Rani film fame director Atlee and Samantha, Amy Jackson etc had played the female leads of this movie.

Popular director Ram is now busy with his project with Mollywood Super Star Mammootty and the film is titled as Peranbu. Popular actress Anjali playing the female lead in this film and is almost completed at Chennai. Ram shot to fame through his national award winning movie Thanga Meenkal. Sadhana, who got great appreciation through the film Thanga Meenkal also playing an important character in this film Peranbu.

Ram had said that Mammootty is a great actor and it is blessing that he got the chance to work with such a great actor like Mammootty. The first schedule of the film had completed in Kodaikkanal in the month of January. There are reports that the film is based on theme of a father-daughter relationship and also has some unique elements in it.

Anjali, who is playing the female lead in this film had made her debut in Tamil through the film Katrathu Tamizh, directed by none other than Ram himself. So, Peranbu is her second project with Ram. Mammootty is also said to be excited about the film and the releasing date of the film is not yet decided.

Mammootty is acting in a Tamil film after long years and he had acted in a handful of Tamil films many years back. His upcoming release is White directed by Uday Ananthan and it will hit the screens in this coming May.

Theri is making it very big at worldwide box office as the film is getting great response from India and from outside as well. This Atlee directorial flick which had Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay playing the lead role as cop had already got good response from audience and is carrying on with steady collections at box office even though dropped a little bit everywhere.

On its first day it had got around 28 crores from worldwide and got more than 13 crore rupees from Tamil Nadu alone. But from the second day it showed drop and it is natural as there may not be much number of fans shows and extra shows there at the screens. After completing 4 days run at screens all over, the film had earned a figure above 60 crores from 4 days.

The second, third and fourth day of the film had reacted almost in the same way as the film had grossed around 10 crore all these days. That had took up the figure to more than 60 crores from worldwide. The film is getting great collection from Australia, US and UK.

The other areas from overseas market also shows decent response to the film in box office and it was a terrific come back from Vijay indeed. At many places it is all set to break the records set by Kaththi and Ajith’s Vedhalam as well.

Prithviraj, the young super star of Mollywood is always fond of doing epic characters and he had already done films like Urumi and real life characters like Moideen on screen. He is also all set to play the character from Mahabharatha named Karnan in next RS Vimal movie which will go on floors very soon.

Apart from that Prithviraj also announced about a project by himself based on Kunchirakottu Kali too, another character with legendary proportions. Now as per the latest reports coming in, Prithviraj will do one more epic historical character and that will be Veluthambi Dalava.

As per the reports coming in from the industry, Prithviraj had already signed the project and waiting for the completion of its screenplay to make an official announcement. The film will be directed by Viji Thampy and screenplay is writing by none other than Renji Panicker. Renji Panicker is already started scripting the movie and will finish it soon.

Rejaputhra Renjith will produce this big budget film under his banner of Renjaputhra Visual Media. His last production venture was the mega blockbuster hit Two Countries with Dileep.

Prithviraj is now doing Jeethu Joseph’s film Oozham and he had commited films like The Beautiful game by Jamesh Kotakkal, Ezra, Vimanam etc as well.

The Ilaya Thalapathy starred new flick named Theri had released all over on April 14th and got encouraging reviews from all over. In Kerala the film had got great number of screens as Friday Film house had distributed it in association with Carnival motion pictures here. The film had took a fabulous opening by amassing 2.40 crore+ on its first day from Kerala. Which was the 3rd biggest first day opening in Kerala by any film and it was Vijay’s second best opening in Kerala after his Jilla with complete actor Mohanlal had took an opening here collection 2.64 crore on its first day.

As per the latest report, the film had collected 5.25 crore from its 3 days of theatrical run in Kerala. After the huge opening on its first day, the collection is dropped for sure. But it is natural as the extra shows and fan shows will not be there on the second day onwards. And also the next two days were working days as well. But in both the second and third day, the film had collected more than 1 crore rupees.

On second day the flick had earned around 1. 50 crore and on 3rd day it had earned around 1.40 crore. The figure of 5.3 crore from just 3 days is fabulous and it looks like Theri is going to make it big in Kerala.

From Tamil Nadu and overseas market also, the movie is getting great response and fabulous collection. Anyway Vijay had made a great comeback after he had failed to deliver through Puli last year.

Kalabhavan Mani passed away last month and still he is news due to various reasons. There were many rumors regarding his death for past few weeks and it is not yet reached to a conclusion. Now another controversy also rose up and it related to the infamous fainting episode of Kalabhavan Mani when he not got the state award for best actor for the performance of him in the Vinayan directorial film named Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njanum.

But one his friend and script writer Haridas Karivelloor says that there no fainting from the side of Kalabhavan Mani and it was a staged incident to hide some other events that happened inside. He says that Kalabhavan Mani was not such a feeble person mentally or physically to faint if he was denied an award by a jury.

Haridas Karivelloor says that at that time one of the Jury Members had called Kalabhavan Mani and said to him that he was in the final round of the best actor award with another actor and there is chance for him to win the award. Later on the day of declaration, that jury member again called him and said that he was chosen as the best actor. So there were congratulations all around and he had begun to share the news with the ones who came there to greet him. But then another call came from that jury member and he said that at the last moment there was an intervention came from the cultural Minister and the award went to another actor. Mani was so angry and he called Cultural Minister and abused him using bad language. He was that much angry.

There comes another problem. He felt that there was chance for the spreading of this abusing episode through media and as per the advice of his lawyer, he had staged a fainting drama and admitted in a Private Hospital to divert the attention of the audience. Haridas Karivelloor says that Mani later ridiculed by many over this fainting episode. Now after his death also some mentioned that incident. And as a friend who knows what really happened, he does not want to hide the truth and don’t want to see Mani in a bad light over this incident. That is why he is revealing it now.

She had watched the film on its releasing day itself by taking time out her busy schedule. Vijay starrer latest film Theri has been making waves in worldwide box office and the actor is back on the success track after the failure of Puli. Along with that he is in news again after one of the song sung by him for the film named Kaththi directed by AR Murugados is going viral in Romania.

The song was the popular number Selfie Pulla. Kaththi was released in 2014. But there is a twist in the tale as the popularity of this song had come from all the wrong reasons in Romania. The lyric of the song had done the trick here.

The Tamil lyric of the song cannot be perceived with its full meaning by non-tamilians, but the chorus part of the song is in English except from one word. It is “Let’s take a Selfie Pulla”, in which the Pulla is the only Tamil word in it. When it is translated to English it means “Let’s take a selfie girl”. But unfortunately in Romanian language, the word Pula means Penis and they understood the lyric in a wrong way.
