Pathemari won national award after got rejected in state film awards !

Pathemari, the Salim Ahammad directorial film released in 2015 October was one of the best film released last year in Mollywood and it had won both critical appreciation and decent box office success. Everybody expected that the film would get some honors at the state film awards of Kerala. The awards announced last month and surprisingly, the film does not get any major awards.

Even Mammootty got nothing for his superb performance as Pallickal Narayanan in the film. The state award jury rejected the film badly. But now the film had selected as the best Malayalam film of 2015 by the national award jury and it’s like a sweet revenge from Pathemari team.

The national awards has been announced yesterday and Malayalam cinema only got very few honors this time. The major ones are for M Jayachandran who won the best music director award for Ennu Ninte Moideen, Best actor special jury award for Jayasurya and Best child artist award for Gaurav Menon etc.

Pathemari got the award for best film that came from Kerala to contest in the awards. The film which told the story of non- resident Indians who migrated to gulf and the later generation of theirs is considered as one of the best films in Mammootty’s career also.

The craze for Mammootty and Mohanlal is still there, says Fahad Fazil

Fahad Fazil, one of the best actors in Mollywood, in the younger generation of actors here says that Mammand Mohanlal is still a craze for him. He said that he want to watch them always and really loves to see both of the performing on screen. When the interviewer asked him about the super star images of actors, he said that he really likes to see Mammootty and Mohanlal in their super star avatars.

According to Fahad, both Mammootty and Mohanlal has a lot to offer to Malayalam cinema even at this age. He said that they are capable of doing any roles in this age as well. Fahad Fazi said that he likes to see Mammootty in films like Big B, which explores his super star image. It is fabulous to see him in action in that kind of roles.

Fahad remembers Mammootty’s words once he was with Dulquer Salmaan and the mega star. Mammootty said that this industry has space for all people who comes here. But one has to be wise to stay here and everyone can stay here if he is wise enough to create his own space and maintains it.

Fahad Fazil says that what Mammootty said was an ultimate fact. Fahad had recently made a great come to Mollywood through the grand success of Maheshinte Prathikaram, after being gone through a terrible period in his career, specially, for the last two years. His next flick will be with Anwar Rasheed and that project had already generated great anticipation level.

Why SS Rajamouli was denied the National Film Award for best director ?

When the National Film Awards announced yesterday, everybody hoped that SS Rajamouli will surely get the best director award for his great work in the epic film Bahubali, which is the biggest Indian film till now. But the award was given to Sanjay Leela Bansali for the film Bajirao Mastani. In social media, people are protesting against this decision by saying that, National award juries always favors Hindi films when it comes to major awards. Malayalam cinema has been victim to these partiality many times and the acting legends from Mollywood like Mammootty, Mohanlal,Thilakan etc had lost many national awards for acting due to this politics from north Indian lobby. The same politics now made SS Rajamouli its victim.

The jury members says that both Bahubali and Bajirao Mastani came to compete in the final round. But according to them Sanjay Leela Bansali did better than Raja Mauli in terms of detailing, bringing out performance and also canning breath taking visual spectacle. That is whay they had picked Sanjay Leela Bansali for the honor. But the question remains that is Bajirao Mastani is better than Bahubali in its making..?

The common people thinks that Bahubali is by far the best made film in Indian cinema in terms of its technical perfection and its standard is close to Hollywood movies. That is why people thinks that the jury had only found some excuses which does not stand, to give award to Sanjay Leela Bansali, only because he is a north Indian director works in Bollywood.

Film lovers also says that Bahubali and SS Rajamouli had already won the awards in their heart and other awards decided by the jury does not have any value before the appreciation that comes from the heart of film lovers. Bahubali even though got the award for best film in India, the question still arises that why the director who had made the best film is not awarded by the honor of the best director. This question was earlier raised by many and popular Indian film Maker Priyadarshan also raised the same question related to the controversy regarding his film Kalapani many years ago.

Dr. Biju speaks about 63rd National Film Awards and Bahubali winning it !

Dr. Biju speaks about 63rd National Film Awards and Bahubali winning it !

Dr Biju, the Mollywood film director who had won multiple national awards had reacted strongly to some controversies regarding the 63 national film awards. His film Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal had won the national award for best environmental film as well. Dr. Biju said that even though he is not really agreeing with the jury decision to give away the best film in India award to Bahubali, he said that the jury had made some right decisions as well. Dr. Biju said that there are much better films than Bahubali in India, but because the jury chairman is from the setup of commercial films in Bollywood, they naturally inclined towards giving the award to the biggest commercial film made in India.

But that one fault is cannot be used as a reason to criticize the awards. He said that many deserving films like Visaranai, Kothanodi, Thithi, Chauthi Kootu, Masan, Head Hunter, Davu huduni Methai etc were awarded and they deserved it as well. He also said that Amitabh Bachchan had deserved the best actor award for his performance in the film Piku. Dr Biju said that the merit of the awards this time was, many low budget but technically and aesthetically brilliant films got honored. We have to open out good eye towards that decisions and appreciate the jury for that.

Dr Biju, bahubali, National film awards, 63rd National Film Awards, bahubali national award issue, dr biju babubali,
Dr Biju, bahubali, National film awards, 63rd National Film Awards, bahubali national award issue, dr biju babubali,

Dr. Biju said that what is happening in Kerala state film awards in last few years was absolute rubbish. We are sitting silent about that issue and all set to attack national awards which did some good. Dr. Biju says that we have no right to criticize national film awards if we had agreed to the state film awards that is losing all its value for few years. He said that what is really happening is that if the ones we admires gets the award we keep silent even if we realize that it was not a fair call.

But we will start attacking the decisions of the jury if they had not given any awards to the ones whom we like. That is not at all a good attitude. We should have the courage to express our independent opinion all the time, irrespective of our personal liking and all that. He said that films like Bahubali getting these kind honors should be stopped, otherwise it will kill the remaining prestige that associated with honors kike National film awards.

Mammootty starrer Karnan will be delayed. Madhupal to do his next film with Jayasurya and Biju Menon

It was indeed a big news when it came out that Mega star Mammootty is playing the role of Karnan under the direction of popular actor/director Madhupal and screenplay was done by another actor/director P Sreekumar. It had made news because Prithviraj-RS Vimal team had announced a project based on the same character few weeks before this Madhupal-Mammootty project announced. Then the team behind the Mammootty film said that they will start the film as soon as possible and it will have 100 days shoot as well.

But as per the reports coming in now, the film will be delayed and Madhupal is moving forward with his next project with Jayasurya and Biju Menon in the lead. This one will be a murder mystery based on the Sundariamma murder case 2012. Madhupal said that it will not be usual murder mystery or an investigation thriller. But it will follow a different way to unlocking the mystery. The case was a controversial one as police had framed an orphan boy for murdering the 70 year old Sundaramma who was living alone in her house at Kozhikkode.

Later in the year 2014, the honorable court had acquitted the accused boy and also ordered to take action against the police officers who illegally framed a case against the innocent. The case still remains unsolved. This upcoming film is scripted by a newcomer named Jeevan Job Thomas and is all set to start filming in the coming June as per reports. Jayasurya and Biju Menon had already agreed to do the project and other cast and crew members will be decided very soon.

Madhupal does not revealed much about the characters playing by Jayasurya and Biju Menon. Chemban Vinod too signed to play an important role in the film, says Madhupal. Jayasurya is very much excited to work with Madhuplas, as he says Madhupal is a director who always gives challenging roles for the actors with which he works. Jayasurya will join this film after he completes, IDI, Pretham and Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum.

Kali Collection Report – 3 Days

Kali, Dulquer Salmaan’s first release this year is making it big in box office despite mixed reviews. The film which released on Saturday had took a fabulous opening on day 1 by collecting above 2.30 crores. The next, day it had almost maintained the good run by collecting above1.90 crores, even though there was a drop of almost 40 lakhs from its first despite it being a holiday. On Monday, as expected, the collection is again dropped by another 40+ lakhs and the 3rd day collection stands around 1.45 crores. In total, the 3 day total gross of the film from Kerala stand around 5.75 crores as per reports coming from trade guides.

The flick was purely riding on the star vale of Dulqurr Salmaan and the anticipation for a Dulquer Salmaan-Sameer Thahir film that brings people in to the screens. Presence of Sai Pallavi, who had made a sensational debut through last year blockbuster Premam also made the things easy for the film in box office. Most of the audience that coming for the film is youth and family support not much there it seems.

That is why the collection is dropping steadily and we have to wait till the release of Dileep starrer King Liar and Nivin Pauly starrer Jacobinte Swargarajyam to find out where Kali will end up in box office status. Because the above mentioned movies are said to be complete family enteratiners and during the summer vacation season, family movies usually takes the winner’s cup.

But Kali had made a strong opening at box office and got a share above 2.50 crores from just 3 days. It will make the film safe at box office. Vikram starrer film Ai had collected a figure above 7 crore from its 3 days and now Kali stands at second position by raking in a figure around 5.75 crores from 3 days. Records are meant to be broken and Kali is doing it right now. If things go smoothly, Kali will end up as another super hit for Dulquer Salmaan and the second consecutive one for him as well.

Amitabh Bachchan had won his first National Award in 1990 through the film Agneepath. Then he had won it in 2005 through Black, in 2009 for Pa and now in 2015 for Piku.  But there is a talk going throughout social media that Amitabh Bachchan had got awards at most of the times for the undeserving films. There were better performance from Malayalam actors to contest with his performances in those years.

Social media alleges that he got those awards only due to north Indian lobby’s politics. His Agneepath was contested with Thilakan’s performance in Perumthachan, Black was contested with Mohanlal’s Thanmathra, Paa had competed with Mammootty’s Paleri Manickyam and even now his Piku was contested with Jayasurya’s Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam and Mammoottyy’s Pathemari. Among these, people thinks that Thilakan, Mohanlal and Mammootty should have been awarded instead of Amitabh as their performance was superlative than Amitabh.

A project with Mohanlal will come soon hopefully, says Prithviraj !

Mohanlal and Prithviraj, the former is the super star of Mollywood and the latter is the young super star here in Mollywood. Young super star Prithviraj is now an answer to the question of who will be the next king to rule Mollywood once Mohanlal and Mammootty leaves their crown behind.

Prithviraj many times through many medias said that Mohanlal is his favorite actor. That may be the reason why people want to see both of them sharing screen together as well which never happened till now. When asked about that eluding project, Prithviraj said to media that such a project with Mohanlal will come soon hopefully and he is waiting for that.

Prithviraj said that there were many stories came their way which has characters for both of them. But nothing excited them as they want to do a film together which will excite the audience and them. Prithviraj said that both of them now are living in the same building and they spend many evening together talking about many things. It is an experience to have a conversation with a legend like Mohanlal, who happens to be his hero as well.

During those conversations, he asks Mohanlal about the project they are doing together, Mohanlal politely tells him that when Prithviraj is ready with a project he will surely do it. But Prithvi says it will be Mohanlal’s decision to land on a project which has anything to do for Prithvi also. He is waiting for that moment.

Earlier some projects are announced and later cancelled due to technical reasons. Cousins by Lal Jose and G for Gold by Renjith are such projects.
