Late Rajesh Pillai directorial film Vettah which released on 26th February, had got great word of mouth from the public and critics and now going pretty well at box office as well. The film even though took only an average opening, later the good comments about the film had helped it in a good way to be steady in box office. The film had released in more than 100 screens and that also helped it to get a minimum collection on working days as well. As per the latest reports coming from trade guides, the film had a decent first week by collecting around 4 crore from 7 days.

The film is a mind game kind of thriller, which really made the audience at the edge of their seats till the very end. Arunlal Ramachandran’s super screenplay, and Late Rajesh Pillai’s fabulous direction made this possible. The performances of lead actors like Kunchacko Boban, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran also attracting the audience and a special clap goes to Shan Rahman whose background scoring is just superb.

The death of Rajesh Pillai, the next day after the release of this film is making the audience to attach emotionally to the film as well. People are going to the screens not only because they heard that it is a good film but also due to the fact that, it is the last film of their favorite director Rajesh Pillai.

Mammootty vs Vijay fight on cards in Vishu box office !

The Vishu season is just one month away and Mollywood is gearing up for the season with some big and hopeful films. It all will start from this month 18th as Prithviraj will come up with his next named Darvinte Parinamam. Films like Nivin Pauly starrer Vineeth Sreenivasan film Jacobinte Swargarajyam, Sameer Thahir directorial Dulquer Salmaan-Sai Pallavi film Kali, and Dileep starrer flick King Liar by Siddique-Lal combo also hit the screens this months as a start to the summer season.

But everybody is waiting for the Vishu season as there are some big projects from all the major film industries are coming to Mollywood to fight it out at the box office with Malayalam movies. The Major ones will be Vijay starrer Atlee directorial film Theri and Shahrukh Khan starrer flick named Fan. And as per reports, the major Malayalam film which is going to fight those big releases will be Mammootty starrer film White directed by Uday Ananthan. Everybody is now eagerly waiting for the box office fight between Mammootty and Vijay as Kollywood films has a good market here and Vijay has great number of fans as well.

Mammootty film White said to be a romantic story and there are reports that it will have some thrilling elements as well. Bollywood heroine Huma Qureshi is playing the female lead in this film opposite Mammootty. His last film Puthiya Niyamam released this year had not put up a good show at box office even after receiving decent response. So the success of White will be very important to Mammootty to put up a strong statement against those who are saying that his star power is on the decline. So he needs not only a hit but a blockbuster success to shut the mouth of his critics.

On the other hand, Vijay who always enjoyed great support here in Kerala, comes with full power playing a cop in Theri. Samantha and Amy Jackson playing the female leads in this Atlee film. Even though his last film Puli was a disaster here, Vijay is also eager to prove that he is still the best when it comes to the rank of Kollywood actors here in Kerala.

So, it will be a great fight between Mammootty and Vijay and the winner will have a lot to take from the victory on his way back to home.

Nivin Pauly-Abrid Shine team’s Action Hero Biju had completed four successful weeks at box office and still going quite well. The film had released on 4th of February this year and amassed mixed opinion from the common mass at first. But critics gave the film great reviews, as it was a realistic take on the life of a police officer. Common mass had really expected a mass masala action entertainer.

But the film failed to give that. It had lost many screens after the first week as well. It had made a good opening day collection around 1.59 crore and later showed a big drop till the end of first week. But after the first week slump, the film had really made a grand come back in box office and now going smoothly as well. After completing four weeks, it had reportedly grossed around 13.4 cr from the screens of Kerala alone.

The film had affected show reduction after first week and also some removals. But later it had made a good come back as shows were increased at many places. It had made come back to many screens from which it had removed earlier. The superb marketing and promotion had made this possible and through it they really succeeded in convincing the common people, what the film really is and what it is all about.

This is the first production venture of Nivin Pauly and Abrid Shine and they had done a great job with its promotion strategies as well. Now the film is moving smoothly at box office and already become one among the 3 super successes of this year. The other two are Pavada and Maheshinte Prathikaram.

Mammootty’s Puthiya Niyamam had released on 12th of February this year and had got good response from critics and audience. Even though there are negative reviews as well, most of the reviews were positives that came in social media. It had begun on an above average note as well in box office. But later the film had witnessed such a huge drop in collection and it had removed from many of the screens in which it had released.

As per the report we are getting from various trade guides, the 20 days box office performance of the film is just not good enough as it had grossed only 8.4 crore till now. We are saying this is not good because this pathetic situation has happened even after getting decent response from all around.

After the first week the film somehow manages to hold on to its screens even though there were show reductions at many places. But the second week had witnessed a mass removal as the film had fell down to around 120 shows per day from around 330 shows per day. Now, after the 3rd week, as per reports the film is only having a show count around 70 shows per day and it is very much pathetic as well. The fans are blaming the distributors for this situation and many people can’t believe the situation in which this film had come to right now.

The state film awards that announced two days back had created lot of spats in social media and also in Malayalam film industry. One such problem that happened between Ramesh Narayan and Prithviraj had went to the extent of people making news that Prithviraj and director RS Vimal had a fall out and their much awaited epic film Karnan is dropped.

But RS Vimal said that it is just a fake news and the project is still on. The film is in its scripting stage and after completing it, they will move forward with the filming of this flick which launched last month.
The report came in such a way that, Ramesh Narayan’s accusation against Prithviraj had made Prithvi to lose his trust over RS Vimal. At first he thought about changing the director of Karnan, which is RS Vimal. Then he thought about dropping the project all together. But, those reports were all fake as director RS Vimal himself come out and explained everything.

The earlier report come out from the spat between Ramesh Narayan and RS Vimal said that, it was RS Vimal who told Ramesh Narayan that Prithviraj had forced him to remove Ramesh Narayan’s songs from the film Ennu Ninte Moideen. That was told by Prithviraj to RS Vimal as a secret and RS Vimal told it all to Ramesh Narayan. When Ramesh told it to the media and that become a controversy, Prithviraj naturally lost his trust on RS Vimal, who had leaked their secret. That paved the way for the issues between Prithviraj and RS Vimal as per the news that had spread through social media.

But now it seems the air of doubts and all that had flown away by RS Vimal’s clarification about the status of Karnan and it will be a great news for Prithviraj fans as well as film lovers here that Karnan is on. Let’s wait for the film to begin its shoot and wait for another Prithviraj- RS Vimal classic.

For last few days, actor Prithviraj and director RS Vimal making the news headlines in social media mainly due to the controversy related to the Ramesh Narayan issue. Ramesh Narayan hit out hard against Prithviraj by saying that the actor had tries to remove his songs from the film Ennu Ninte Moideen and director RS Vimal had stood with the actor to do this insulting to Ramesh Narayan.

He also said that Prithvi Raj not wanted Jayachandran to sing the Sharadambaram song in the film, for which later Jayachandran got the award for best singer in this year’s Kerala state film awards. But now a report doing its round in Social Media that, this issue had created some problems between RS Vimal and Prithviraj’s personal relation and that lead to the dropping of their upcoming project named Karnan, which had launched last month.

But these reports are not official but rumors only and it can be a framed one as well by some people who have some grudge against Prithviraj or RS Vimal. But the fact is that is spreading all around social Media. The report says that Prithviraj had told to remove the songs by Ramesh Narayan from the film Ennu Ninte Moideen, to the director RS Vimal. He wanted RS Vimal to keep it as a secret as well.

But RS Vimal said it to Ramesh Narayan and that is why Ramesh had come out against Prithviraj after winning the best music director award. But this incident had created a lack of trust on RS vimal and Prithviraj reportedly decided not to do Karnan with him. The report also says that, earlier Prithvi Raj tried to change the director, but later decided to drop the project.

The film had already made some controversies earlier, when Madhupal-Mammootty team had announced a project with the same title Karnan under the scripting of P Sreekumar. They accused that even after knowing about their project, Prithviraj–RS Vimal team had announced their project with the same title.

Premam, one of the biggest successes of last year in Mollywood was making space in the news headlines right from the start of its release. It had emerged as the second biggest success of all-time in Mollywood and also made a dream run at Tamil Nadu as well by running 250 days there. Even though it had its share of controversies as well regarding the censor copy leak and the moral values it provides for young generation etc, it was a film that had accepted everywhere for its making style.

Even master directors like Priyadarshan, AR Murugados, Shankar etc appreciated the film for its brilliance in its making. But when the state film award had announced this year, Premam does not get any awards and when asked why, the jury chairman said that they not even considered it for any award because it was like a carelessly shot movie and for that carelessness, it don’t deserve to win an award. Now the Premam team member had come out and said sarcastically that they will continue to make films carelessly.

Vishnu Govind, the sound Engineer of the film had reacted by saying like this through his official Facebook page. He said that the jury was damn correct. Premam was made carelessly. The acting was so natural in the film that it may seem careless. The camera work was so good that there was a feeling that there is no camera at all. The sound mixing, music etc were also natural and the editing may seem careless as well because it was in such a smooth flow.

They had made the people happy and love the film all over South India with this carelessness and will continue with this careless attitude to give more films like Premam to the audience who are also careless. Because the carelessness of audience made this big success possible if we take the jury’s logic.

Director Ashiq Abu also come out and said against the jury in Premam issue. Kollywood director AR Murugados also said that the awards were not at all fair as it avoided Premam.
