Two Countries on the way to get a place in the 50 crore club of Mollywood

Shafi and Dileep always gave us great entertainer and they had earlier given us films like Kalyana Raman and Merikkundoru Kunjaadu. Both films were great successes as well. And they had done the same again with their latest film named Two Countries and this time even bigger and better. Their latest film Two Countries which released on last December 25th, is still ruling the box office of Kerala with great mouth publicity and as per reports it is on its way to the 50 crore club of Mollywood as well.

The film had earned more than 30 crore rupees from Kerala alone and outside Kerala as well it is getting great response. Even though the rest of India and overseas collection is not available, the trade guides are sure that the film will reach the 50 crore club of Mollywood very soon.

As of now only 3 films had made its entry to that special club. They are Mohanlal starrer Drishyam which had inaugurated that 50 crore club of Mollywood by earning 75 crore total business, Then came Nivin Pauly’s Premam which earned a total business around 67 crore and then comes Ennu Ninte Moideen starred by Prithvi Raj which had got nearly 60 crores total business.

As per reports multi-starrer Bangalore Days had earned around 48 crore total business and another multi-starrer named Amar Akbar Anthony also earned near 35-40 cr as total business. Now Dileep is all set to become the 4th star to enter that club and it will not be a wonder if this film does a total business around 75 crore just like what Drishyam did. The film is still there in almost 72 theaters in Kerala. In UAE it has 152 show per day and in UK they are starting to show the film with 63 shows per day as well.

Dileep’s Two Countries which had released in last Christmas season and become the Christmas winner still continues to be the boss in Mollywood Box office. As per the latest collection report of this Shafi film, it had earned more than 30 crore rupees from Kerala alone from its 35 days of theater run here till now.

The rest of India and worldwide collection is still unknown but it is on the higher side as well. With this blockbuster, both Dileep and Shafi made a terrific come back as both were had a torrid time at box office before the release of this film which is produced by M.Renjith under the banner of Rejaputhra visual media.

The screenplay of this flick was written by Shafi’s brother and popular director Rafi. The film was a comedy entertainer with a great star cast and it included Mamta Mohandas, Aju Varghese, Mukesh, Suraj Venjarammoodu, Lena, Vijaya Raghavan, Makarand Deshpande, Isha Talvar, Ajmal Ameer etc . Gopi Sundar’s s music was also become super hit and the film had already become the first 30 crore movie of Dileep in his career.

Now Two Countries is his biggest hit till now and it on its way to the all- time blockbusters list of Mollywood as well. The film is still running in a fair number of screens even after the release of 5 more Mollywood films in January. That shows the strength of this flick at box office and the great mouth publicity it had got.

After the success of his recent flick named Style directed by Binu S, which was the first release in Mollywood this year, Young star Unni Mukundan is all set to come up with a film named Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya. A debutant named Sajan K Mathew will direct this film which is scripted by Abhilash. The film will be produced by Siyad Kokker under his popular banner of Kokkers Films.

Unni Mukundan is playing the character named Prakashan, who works as an electrician, in this film. Apart from Unni Mukundan the film will have artists like Aju Varghese, Biju Kuttan, Sudhi Koppa etc and Prayaga Martin will play the female lead in this movie.

The title ‘Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya’ is very much familier to Malayali audience as this was a line from the song starting with Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya, from the movie named Manichithra Thazhu, which had Mohanlal and Shobhana in the lead and directed by Fazil. That song was one of the all-time classic songs in Mollywood music history composed by MG Radhakrishnan. The dance sequence of Shobhana in that song was so much popular and she had even won the national award for best actress for that character named Nagavalli in that film.

Director Sajan K Mathew told that the title is apt for the story of his film and there is a surprise behind the title. So he can’t reveal much details about the movie and why they chose that title. The film had started its filming at Palakkad today. Unni Mukundan is hoping to continue his success with this film as well.

Enthiran was accepted by the audience all over India with both hands and Shankar is all set to rewrite the history books of Indian cinema with this sequel of the film. The most interesting part in this film will be the presence of Bollywood Superstar Akshay Kumar and he will be playing the villain to none other than Super Star Rajinikanth. Akshay Kumar who already started shooting for the film had showered praises on the super star.

Akshay Kumar said that from his childhood he is a big fan of Rajinikanth films and it was in his mind that if he ever get a chance to work with Super Star Rajinikanth in his career, he will never let it go. And thanks to god, it has happened. Akshay Kumar says that Rajinikanth is a man with Golden heart and when he first met him on the day of the launching of the film, he was in awe of the super charisma of the super star. He was just a little child who looks at the candy jars in a bakery and it was one wonderful experience of his life.

Akshay Kumar said that he had watched all of Rajinikanth’s film and he is looking forward to start the shooting of the film with the super star from this March. He said that it will be very challenging to play the villain role as it is very tough to bring out the evil in one’s self to the screen and also because we are not used to it in real life. He had not done many negative characters in his career. So it will be a new experience for him playing a new type of character and a new genre as well.

Amy Jackson is the heroine of this film and A R Rahman and Rasool Pookkutty once again joining together for this flick. Akshay’s latest release Airlift had obtained terrific reviews and going towards a blockbuster success in Bollywood.

Prithviraj to star in debutant Jayakrishnan directorial film Ezra

Prithviraj is now the young super star of Mollywood and people saying that after Mohanlal, Mammootty and Dileep, now it is Prithviraj who has the capability to rule Malayalam cinema. He achieved this trust from people by his wise selection of films and the continuous success he got in last year. This year also seems good for him till now as his first release of this year named Pavada had become a super hit. He had some big projects which is on its way as well and this year we can see some special films from him as well. As per reports he had added another one to the list of his upcoming movies and it is titled as Ezra, which will be directed by a debutant named Jayakrishnan.

Jayakrishnan is the long term associate director of Rajeev Ravi and he had roped in Prithviraj for his first film. The story of the film will focus on the jew culture in the Mattancherry area Kochi and the word Ezra means Help. There are reports that popular Kollywood actress Priya Anand will play the female lead in this film as well. It will be her debut film in Mollywood as well.

The film will be produced under the banner of E for Entertainment. The DOP of this film will be done by popular cameraman and director Thiru. As per reports the film will start in this coming May. Prithviraj is now shooting for the film named James and Alice, which is the debut directorial venture of cameraman Sujith Vasudev. Vedhika playing the female lead in this film.

His next release will be Darwinte Parinamam which is directed by Jijo Antony who had earlier directed the film Konthayum Poonoolum. The film will be released on coming March 28 and it is produced by Prithviraj’s own production house, August Cinemas as well. Chemban Vinod is playing the title character of this film as well. Prithvi will have biggies like Karnnan and Aadu Jeevitham coming as well which will be directed by RS Vimal and Blessy respectively.

The latest reports that coming in indicates that masters of action films Shaji Kailas and Renji Panicker is all set to unite again and this time with none other than the Universal Star Mohanlal in the lead. As per the news that we got from sources, Reni Panicker will start scripting the film after he completes the films he committed to act now. Shaji Kailas is also now working on a Suresh Gopi starrer and it will be his next project.

Renji Panicker and Shaji Kailas had given many mass success here in Mollywood and they are one of the best director-writer pair in Mollywood. Shaji Kailas is a king of action films and Renji Panicker is popular for his firebrand dialogues and thrilling stories. They had started off with a comedy though named Dr. Pashupathi which had Innocent in lead role. But later they come up with great action and political thrillers like Thalasthanam, Sthalathe Pradhana Payyans, Ekalavyan, Commissioner, The King, Mafia etc.

Suresh Gopi was the hero in most of their movies and Mammootty also played a terrific character in the film named The King. But Mohanlal had never acted in a film made by this combo. Shaji Kailas and Mohanlal together gave many blockbuster hits in Mollywood including the Millenium Blockbuster Narasimham. But Mohanlal-Shaji Kailas films were scripted by Renjith mostly. Renji Panicker had given some terrific films with director Joshiey as well. Those films too had Suresh Gopi in the lead and there are evergreen mass hits like Lelam, Pathram etc.

Shaji Kailas- Renji Panicker last joined together a few years back with the film named The King and Commissioner which had Mammootty and Suresh Gopi in the lead roles. But that film was bombed in box office. Now they all set to try their luck with Mohanlal, the biggest crowd puller of Mollywood. This was not an officially confirmed news but it will come at the right time. As per reports Ashirvad Cinemas already committed a Shaji Kailas project and this may be the one.
