Shaji Kailas explains the reason behind not doing Karnan with Mammootty !

It’s now, the reports about the movie Karnan everywhere which is not even started filming. As you all know the main reason behind that is the announcing of two project at the same time based on the same character and that too with leading stars playing the lead in both the films. One is with Prithviraj in the lead which will be conceiving by RS Vimal and another will be with Mammootty in the lead which will be conceived by Madhupal. RS Vimal himself will script for his film and P Sreekumar is the writer of Madhupal-Mammootty team’s Karnan. The latest on the film had come from director Shaji Kailas, as he said that he wanted to do this project almost 5 years back and later decided not to do it.

Shaji Kailas said that he read the screenplay of the film written by Sreekumar 5 years before. It was a terrific screenplay and the effort Sreekumar took for a long 18 years to write the script is evident in that script. Shaji Kailas says he really wished to make it as a film as well. Mammootty was so much interested in making it as a film and playing the lead role in it. But Shaji Kailas says that the film needed a big budget that Malayalam cinema had never used before and there was no producer at all to finance such a big movie. That is the reason why he chose to not to do the film.

P Sreekumar said to media that the film has got a producer who is ready to invest big money on this film and it will have a budget around 50 crore rupees. He had told that before Shaji Kailas, director Hariharan also wanted to make this as a film. Mohanlal was his first choice to play the lead and later when Mammootty shows interest to do it as it was one of his dream characters, Mohanlal happily given the project to Mammootty saying that Mammootty will be more suitable to play the role.

Prithviraj also showed interest in the script but unfortunately not able to read it due to some commitments, says Sreekumar.

M Padmakumar directorial and TS Suresh Babu scripted flick Jalam is all set to release all over Kerala in the coming days. The release date will be announced soon. Jalam is the world’s first charity monvie and the CSR film by Aries Group owned by Sohan Roy already won many appreciations in Film Festivals and as well as in many film awards including the national and state film awards.

The film’s audio launch has been taken place few days back at Kochi, and at the function there at IMA hall Kochi, the producer of the film, Sohan Roy said that they have 100% confidence that Jalam will be a film which will satisfy the audience or which will touch the heart of the spectator. He declared that if anyone feels the film is a disappointment, then he will be given back his ticket charge with compensation.

The team behind Jalam also declared that the profit which the film earns or the money which the film gets from theaters will be given to those families in Idukki, who were homeless and living on roadside , that too in a terrible condition. The story of the film also dealing with the issue of homelessness and they had announced that they will do whatever they can for the homeless people with the money earns by this film.

Sohan Roy said that the film gives you a chance as well to contribute towards that good cause. Because when you buy a ticket of this film to watch it, you are indirectly donating your share to build a shelter for those people who are living in streets. He also said that Jalam is their effort to bring Cinema too under the CSR category and thereby contributing to the society in a more proper way.

The film had also selected to the nomination list for Oscar entry from India. The music section headed by Ouseppachan had got the selection. The flick has Priyanka Nair and Prakash Bare in the lead role as well.

The Karnan debate is now taking some interesting turns. As we said in our earlier reports, the news about the film or rather films had become the most debated topic in social media and lots of fan fights are happening related to it as well. Many troll pages are trolling both the films even before it started filming and now its all Karnan everywhere to say the least. Then there were some reports came that the Mammootty-Madhupal-P Sreekumar project based on Karnan may be dropped as Prithviraj and RS Vimal had launched their project based on Karnan even before P Sreekuamr and Madhupal.

Now, in a recent media interview, screenplay writer P Sreekumar said clearing all air regarding the shelving of his project that if he is alive, then he will definitely do the film based on Karnnan and that too with Mammootty in the lead. With this statement of his, it is now almost confirmed that both Prithviraj RS Vimal project and Mahupal- Mammootty project will happen.

As per the words of director Madhupal, his film will start rolling in the coming months once Mammootty becomes free from his other commitments. The pre-proudction works are going on with full pace as well. On the other hand. RS Vimal is writing the script of his film Karnan with Prithviraj and it will take some time before starting the shoot as they also needs some time for preparation.

Both films are big budget ones and Mammootty film will be made using 50 crore. Prithviraj- RS Vimal film will have a budget more than 50 crore as well. Venu Kunnappilly will finance the RS Vimal’s Karnan and the name of Madhupal’s Karnan’s producer is not yet revealed.

Karnan is again making news in social media. For the past few days its all about Karnan in social media and there are even trolls are coming like rain from Facebook pages. At first the discussion begun when Prithviraj-RS Vimal team had announced and launched the project Karnan with a motion poster.

Later the debate become hot when P Sreekumar announced that he and Madhupal is going to the film based on Karnan with Mammootty in the lead. Then it had really become a topic of hot discussion and even fan fight as two stars are going to play the same character in the near future. Both are big films with a budget around 50 crore rupees and director of the Mammootty film Madhupal says that Karnan cannot be made like an ordinary film.

Karnan is one of the most powerful yet kind hearted character of Mahabharatha and the character has a lot of depth in t as well. It allows a possibility to interpret the character in different ways. P Sreekumar had written the screenplay of the film after doing so much studies and research for the film and its been almost 18 years that he is doing the works for this film. Director Madhupal said that we cannot conceive the film based on Karnan like an ordinary Malayalam film as it have to be told in a big canvas. It needs a lot of homework before starting the filming. Because as they are doing a film based on an epic like Mahabharatha, they have to do it well in a way that they have to do justification to time and history.

Madhupal said that the works for his film Karnan had started long before and it became such a big news now only because of the announcing of the Prithviraj-RS Vimal film based on the same character. Madhupal said that the pre-production work of the film is on and the filming will start very soon as Mammootty completes his already committed projects.

Anyway let’s wait for both the Karnans, from Prithviraj and from Mammootty.

The film James and Alice had started rolling last week and it is the directorial debut of popular cinematographer Sujith Vasudev. Sujith Vasudev is popular for his works in films like Drishyam, Anarkkali etc and had done many popular films like Amar Akbar Anthony, Memories, 7th day as well. The screenplay of this film is written by Dr. S Janardhanan and Sujith Vasudev himself wielding the camera for his film. The film has Vedhika playing the female lead and as per reports the flick has been discussing the problems that happens in relationships or in a family in this modern era. Vedhika and Prithviraj is working together for the first time as well.

Dr S Janardhanan had earlier directed films like Maha Samudram with Mohanlal in the lead and Sahasram with suresh gopi in the lead. He had done Television serials as well before he made his entry in to the film field. The story of this film is written by Sujith Vasudev himself.

Superstar Mohanlal is all set do a 100 crore budget film in his career. This project is none other than his second Telugu project of this year with Jr. NTR also playing the lead along with the Malayalam super star. The film now tentatively titled as Janatha Garage is all set to begin next month in Hyderabad. Koratala Siva is the one who directing this movie who is one of the topmost directors of Tollywood. All of his films had become record breaking hits in Tollywood and his previous one Srimanthudu with Mahesh Babu and Sruthi Hasan in the lead had become the econd biggest grosser of all time in Tollywood, right behind the SS Rajamouli magnum opus Bahubali.

As per reports Mohanlal and Jr. NTR playing equally important characters in the film and Mohanlal reportedly playing the father like or uncle character of Jr. NTR. The film will have Nithya Menon and Samantha playing the female lead and they are eyeing an August release of the film. This will be the biggest budget film ever in the career of both Mohanlal and Jr.NTR. Jr. NTR’s latest release Nanakku Prematho directed by Sukumar is now creating record box office collection in Tollywood and he would like to better that with Janata Garage which has the Complete Actor as well in the lead along with him.

Mohanlal had completed the shoot of his first Telugu film of this year which was directed by Chandrashekar Yeleti and it is a family drama named Manamantha. As per reports Mohanlal may also do a big budget Tamil movie with Ajith as well.

Recently there has been trend in Malayalam that actors here is doing big budget projects as Young Superstar Prithviraj had announced Karnan which will have a budget above 50 crore, Megastar Mammootty also all set to do the same character in another movie which also has a budget around 50 crore.

It has been a big news when report came that Superstar Mohanlal is again joining hands with his great friend and master director Priyadarshan for a film this year. Priyadarshan had planned a big budget action thriller with Mohanlal last year which was a 27 crore budget film. But that film postponed because of the weather condition on Russia got worse and it was there that the film intended to shoot fully.

It was an Indo-Russian collaboration venture as well which had planned to make in 5 languages including Malayalam, Chinese, Turkish, Russian and Azoori. Later Priyadarshan had landed on another project with Mohanlal which will be produced by Seven Arts Vijaya Kumar. The film is titled Oppam and the latest on the film says that Kollywood actress Sanchita Shetty will play the female in the movie.

Priyadarshan said to Media that even though Sanchita Shetty is chosen to play the female lead in the film, it is not a female oriented subject that film discusses. It is a crime thriller and the plot focuses on the character of Mohanlal who is playing a blind character in this film. Its all about a murder and the events that happens around him. Priyadarshan said that the film will start in next month and on February 20th to be precise. Ernakulam and Ootty will be the main locations where the film will shoot and apart from Mohanlal, artists like Nedumudi Venu and Samudrakkani will play key roles in this film. There are reports that Samudrakkani is playing a negative role in this flick.

Priyadarshan had roped in popular Kollywood cameraman Eakambaram to crank the camera for this film. Ekambaram had earlier worked with Priyadarshan in his Malayalam film named Vettam starred by Dileep. Ekambaram had done films like Kavalan, Kanthasamy in Tamil. He had done the DOP of Mammootty starrer Shaji Kailas film Drona as well some years back. The script of this film is writing by Priyadarshan himself and he is writing the script of his own Malayalam film is after some years now.

The epic character from Mahabharatha, Karnan, is really trending now in Mollywood. At first it had made news by the announcement of Prithviraj-RS Vimal film and the motion poster which released along with the launch. Then another news came that Mega star Mammootty is also going to play the character Karnan in another Mollywood film which will be directed by Madhupal and scripted by P Sreekumar who is a popular actor and director as well. Director RS Vimal said that the report of the 45 crore budget of Karnan is completely fake. They had not set any particular budget limit to make the film. But they are all set to make it in the maximum perfection it can get. They are making it in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi languages and will have a world wide release of 2000 screens all over. The crew of the film will have many popular technicians from all over the country and from outside as well. The DOP of this film will be done by Senthil Kumar, who was the DOP of Bahubali, Eega, Magadheera etc. R S Vimal said that the film will have great actors from Malayalam, Hindi and Malayalam languages.

He said that it will cater the tastes of all kinds of audience as it will have war sequences as well as scenes with emotional flavor. He said that just like his first film Ennu Ninte Moideen he will start the filming after great preparations like story board and all that. The film have great importance for VFX and the producer is all set to give whatever the film needs. Venu Kunnappilly is producing this film under his banner named Kavya Films and it’s his first production venture.
