Premam hunt down Mass, Will Ennu Ninte Moideen hunt down Puli

On October 1st, Ilayathalapathy starrer film Puli directed by Chimbu Deven is releasing all over the world and in Kerala too the film is getting a mass release which usually a Malayalam film don’t get. Only Mohanlal films get a big release over 150 theaters in Kerala and that too his mass type films. The issue of wide release also popped as a part of the wide release of Puli as well.

There are two question in mind of the audience here in Kerala when Puli comes as a big release. One is of course will it be one movie which satisfy the expectation of the viewers as the expectation level has touched the sky long before. Another question is the one of which the answer we are really looking forward to. The question is will Puli get hunted down by the Moideen trend that is now waving in Malayalam cinema. It has happened earlier as well and this year too.

Don’t you remember the release time of the blockbuster film Premam..? At that time another big Kollywood film named Masss had released in Kerala and that too a very big release when the number of theaters is concerned. Usually the films of Tamil stars get good reception here at Kerala even if the film is not up to the level of expectation. But at that particular time the things have turned around. Premam mania had gripped all over Kerala and in that wave created by Premam, Suriya Starrer Venkat Prabhu directorial Masss became ashes in box office. It had a really disastrous box office stats in Kerala and as we said above, apart from the comparatively low quality of the film it was really the Premam mania that killed Mass.

Now just like Drishyam or Premam, another film titled Ennu Ninte Moideen starring Prithviraj and helmed by RS Vimal making its presence felt in Kerala in a big way and getting a response just like what Drishyam or Premam got in box office. It is already just close to a blockbuster in just 10 days and going great every day. Now we have to wait and see will Moideen hunt down Vijay’s Puli just like Premam did to Mass or will Vijay’s strength in Kerala Box office sustains..? Fingers crossed for the ultimate battle at box office.

Sidharth Siva sad about Ain being removed for Puli

National award winning director and popular actor Sidharth Siva’s Facebook status few days back about the release of his national award winning film Ain and the attitude of our theaters to small films like Ain has got great attention and response among the people in social media. And today he came up with another one in which he has made a sarcastic take on the plight of Malayalam films when big Tamil films comes and on the way he made a dig at Puli wide release as well. Now it is also getting great response in the social media circles.

He said that his film Ain is slowly withdrawing from even the very limited screens it has got to screen the flick. Sidharth Siva says that there was two primary reasons for that withdrawal. One is that people are not rushing to theaters for watching his film and another is the wide release of the Tamil film Puli which is stealing centers from all Malayalam films. But he said that he is very happy that many people had come from different districts specially for watching this film at Thrissur, Calicut and Trivandrum where the film had got theaters to set the show.

He said still there are many true film lovers who wants to watch real cinema and the so called film maniacs are the encouragement for filmmakers like him. Sidharth Siva has also said thanks to those who watched the film and told their opinion about. He also thanked those wished him good luck but was not able to watch the film due to many factors said above.

Sidharth Siva said that he had no hope that this will help him making some money or something. He is sure that he will not even get half of the money back which he used to release the film. But he wanted this film to get released because there are a lot of good actors, technicians who worked in this film and their performance have to be seen by the viewers. He said that still the film is running in Thrissur Sree (2.30pm), Calicut Kairali (6 pm, 9 pm) and Trivandrum Nila (11.30 am) and try to see it before Puli takes over this small film. He also said that another national award winning film is releasing on October 2nd and try to watch it as well if all of us have time and desire to watch small but good films.

Yesterday there was buzz around the social media circles and a report even came in the news channels of Kerala that the shooting of the big budget film starred by Mohanlal named Pulimurugan is suspended due to a stay order given by the Honorable High Court of Kerala. The news said that somebody named Noushad who lives near the pooyam Kutti forest area filed a complaint against the film and submitted a petition in court that the filming of the movie will affect the eco system and the purity of nature around forest area.

That man reportedly accused the art section of the film for using plastic and rubber material to make the set of the film which can harm and pollute the nature there. That man also reportedly said that they team behind the film is planning a blast for the climax shoot of the film and if they use fire for that then it will do harm to the forest area. So news said that the court had accepted the petition and ordered the malayattoor DFO to enquire about it and submit a report very quickly as possible. Till then the shooting was suspended as per news. But the fact is that there was no such problems occurred there and the shooting was still going on there without any suspension. The news about that legal issues were all fake.

The Pulimurugan team had posted the real situation in the official Facebook page of the film saying that somebody is deliberately trying to spread bad things about the film and what we all heard about the legal issue was all fake. There is no stoppage of the filming and it is smoothly going on in the pooyam Kutty forest area. The film is telling the story of a man living one with nature and it has emotions of humans, animals as well as nature. It will never harm any nature system for its filming.

They explained that the whole filming is going on with tight police security at Pooyamkutti and the fake news was created by those who not allowed to enter the shooting premises. They are trying to kill Malayalam cinema and specially this film. The shoot is going on well and hope that everyone will support this film with their prayers and love.

Puli, right from the beginning of its announcement it had become a trend all over south India and when the news came that it will be the biggest film ever in Ilaya Thalapathy Vjay’s career that expectation and hope increased to another level. With each passing days and each updates about the film that anticipation raised and with the release of its trailer and teaser it went beyond the sky limit as well.

Now ending all that anticipation, the magnum opus film of Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay’s career will hit the screens on the 1st of October. As per reports it will be the biggest release in Vijay’s career as well. Vijay who is considered as the second biggest star in South India after Rajani Kanth has a great fan base here in Kerala too and Malayalam cinema also witnessing a gigantic release of Puli here. As per the theater charting the film is all set to release in almost 200 theaters. But it brings a lot of trouble for Malayalam cinema as well while it is making its big move here.

The big release of Puli will affect the now successfully running Malayalam films and mollywood has to pay a big price for allowing the wide release of another language films. The films now running actively in Kerala in Ennu Ninte Moideen, Urumbukal Urangarilla, Life of Josootty and Kohinoor. All films had got very good word of mouth according to its genre. Among these films Ennu Ninte Moideen is getting amazing response and getting excellent box office run as well. So when Puli is coming in more than 200 theaters here, the Malayalam films will lose its many screens and it will surely affect the financial prospects of those films. We can say that may be Ennu Ninte Moideen due to its unbelievable word mouth can maintain most of its theaters but other films can be affected very badly by this Puli release as they will lose most of its main screens.

Onam films did not gave a blockbuster to Mollywood. Only Loham and Kunji Ramayanam made profit and that too in a level of only Super hit status. So when the above mentioned 4 films going great, the release of Puli which will deny its deserved success will cost Mollywood dearly for sure.

Director MA Nishad ridiculed Kohinoor and now under online protest

Popular Malayalam cinema director and producer MA Nishad had posted on his Facebook page, a status ridiculing the latest release of Mollywood named Kohinoor starred by Asif Ali and Directed by Vinay Govind. M A Nishad posted in Malayalam that “Aana Mukkunnathu kandu annan mukkiyal Kohinoor aakum”, which means that the makers of the film had tried to make a big film and imitated the style of big films and stars to make it but at last ended up as a mediocre imitation. But that post had landed him in trouble as the fans of Asif ali and other film lovers are turned against him and he is now well under a sort of online attack on him.

MA Nishad had made films with Asif Ali years ago. So when he ridiculing a film which is starring asif ali and which is also his first ever production venture, it seems that something is not right about their relationship. We don’t even know if that comment by Nishad is targeted the director Vinay Govind or not. But if someone had to make that sort of a comment on a film which is getting good report all over from the common mass, then there is something not right at all.

Kohinoor released last Thursday getting good word of mouth from people who loves entertainers and the reviews from critics also giving it average to above average status as an entertainer. As per reports it also getting good collection at box office and may be ended as a failure at box office. But this post by M A Nishad had made him the enemy of Asif Ali fans who already hailing the film Kohinoor as the first solo Hit of Asif Ali’s career.

The film’s background is set in the 1980’s and throughout the film it gave us a feel about the nostalgic 1980’s and early 90’s. Rajmohan Unnithan comments on wide release issue

Wide release issue and the problems related to it is not a new thing in Malayalam film industry now a days. Once again it has popped up as the release of the Tamil film Puli is nearing and it is all set to have a wide release in Kerala. Cine Exhibitors Federation and its President Liberty Basheer is adamant on their stand that they will not allow the film to have wide release and if that is the decision by distributors they will resort to extreme methods such as locking down the theaters under their control. But the Chairman of Kerala State Film Development Corporation, Mr. Rajmohan Unnithan said that any association in film industry cannot dictate terms in the issue of wide release in Mollywood.

Rajmohan Unnithan said to media that any theater who has facilities like air conditioning and good sound system can be considered as a releasing theater and they have all the rights to release film on their screen as well. He said that Government will interfere in this matter very soon and he also told that he had send a recommendation letter to the Government saying that the grading system of theaters according to the facilities it provides which is to be restarted very soon.

It was earlier started by K B Ganesh Kumar when he was the Minister who handled the section of cinema. But at that time too many objections were made by Liberty Basheer and his association about that and later it was stopped. Then K B Ganesh Kumar had to resign from his minister post due to some other issues and the grading system he put forward was forgotten. Now Rajmohan Unnithan as the Chairman of Kerala State Film Development Corporation stands for that grading system and he is all set to implement that plan at any cost.

This wide release issue had made the release of films a mess here and the theater strikes and other problems it is causing has become a frequent event here in Malayalam cinema. Somebody has to move forward with bold decisions to end this.
