Kakka Muttai becomes India’s official Oscar entry this year

Kakka Muttai, the much applauded Tamil film which was released last year has been chosen as India’s official entry for the Academy awards this year. The film which is directed and written by Manikandan was selected to participate in the Oscar race in the category of Best Foreign Film. The flick had been financed by popular Kollywood actor Dhanush and Vetrimaran and it has been distributed by the famous Fox Star Studios all over. Two new faces named Ramesh and Vignesh played the lead roles in this flick along with Iyshwarya Rajesh. The soulful music of the film is composed by G V Prakash Kumar.

The flick tells the story of two children from the slums of Chennai, Tamilnadu and their great desire is to eat a pizza. Even though the flick was released worldwide on June 5th, the first official premiere of the film had took place last year September at Toronto International Film Festival. The flick had won great critical appreciation for its making and performance and in the recently announced National awards of 2015 in India it had got two recognitions as well. One is for Best Children’s Film and the other one is for the Best Child Artist. Both Ramesh and Vignesh got this award for their spectacular performance in the film. Actor Silambarasan played a cameo in the film and it also has Mollywood actor Babu Antony in it in a prominent role of a landlord.

It is the debut film of the director and Manikandan has amazed everyone with such a classic film first up. The flick was screened in many international and prestigious film festivals before its worldwide release this year and in film festivals at Rome, Brisbane, Dubai, Los Angeles and also in Gold Coast Film Festival it had received great appreciation and applause. The film had also become a super hit at box office even after it had no stars in it to attract the viewers.

Last time Oscar came to Indian soil through A R Rahman, Gulzar and Rasool Pookkutty. That was also a film about the slum kids in India. This time another film made about slum kids in Chennai is selected for Oscars. Will they repeat the magic and bring another Oscar to our soil..? Keep your fingers crossed..!

Sunny Wayn starrer music video all set for its release

Actor Sunny Wayn is a popular figure among Malayalis through various films and he has a special hold among youngsters as well. His unique style of acting has made youngsters his followers and now we will be seeing him in a music video. He is in love and we can see the Sunny Wayn in love through the upcoming music video named Vizhiyil. It is a Tamil music album video directed by Aju Raj and Krishna V S. It has been financed by 2 Bulb Media. The shoot of the film was completely done in Chennai. The album is conceived in a romantic mood starring Aishwarya Raj along with Sunny Wayn.

The music for the album has been composed by Akshayjith P M and the song featuring Sunny Wayn and Aishwarya Raj is sung by Sachin Warrier and Divya S Menon. The teaser of the song video will release today at 5 pm. The lyrics for the songs was written by Din Nath Puthuchery and Naveen Paul.

Associate Directors of this music album is Athul Ramkumar and Vaishak Menon. The programming was done by Rex George and mixing by Abin Paul. Mastering of the song has been done by the popular Steve Smart and editing is by Jayasankar. Viswajith Odukkathil had done the direction of photography for this album. Costume Designer is Reshmi Muraleedharan and Art direction was managed by Raymon and Naveed Kumar.

Production Controller of this venture is Mahesh Madhav and still photography for the album has been done by Avinash Choochi. The poster design has been done by the young and upcoming talent Shaan Vineyards. The posters of the album are already a viral hit in social media platforms and the anticipation is getting high as well. The presence of Sunny Wayn has been raising the hopes of the people about the album to another level.

The reports says that the Malayalam version of songs are also there in the album even though it is primarily a Tamil music album. Anyway the teaser will come today to give all of you the first glimpse of the music video.

Yet another Mollywood actress has become the victim of some lunatics who is spreading fake and vulgar photos in the name of popular actresses. Now it is Premam fame actress Anupama Parameswaran who is on the victim list. For the past few days a photo said to be of Anupama Parameswaran is spreading through Facebook and Whatsapp. Many online pages also intentionally or unintentionally posted those photos and has become the catalyst of spreading the photos. But Anupama told to Onlookers Media that it is a morphed photo and that her face was morphed to the body of some other lady who may be a look alike.

She said that she will fight legally against all the people who is behind this and has taken the issue very seriously as well. This is not the first time she has suffered from this. Earlier also there were some photos spread which was said to be of Anupama’s. But it was later found out that they were all fake. We don’t really know whether she is being targeted or not or if someone is behind this plan to bring down her popularity.

She also appealed to the people not to spread those photos if it reaches them and to help her find those who did it. Recently, actress Asha Sarath went legally against this type of attack on her and she held strong in her stand. Asha Sarath at last succeeded in finding out the culprits with the help of Police and she had got them arrested as well. It was really an inspiration for many actresses who suffered like this and it is clear that Anupama is also going that way.

Anupama is one of the popular young actresses in Mollywood now with the great success of her debut film Premam and since then she has been in the limelight of Mollywood. Her popularity has also increased quite a lot and this issue seems to have been made to target her and bring down the clean image Anupama has among the people of Kerala.

Today two pictures come out in social media in which actor Nivin Pauly and his little son Daveed Pauly has posed in Premam style wearing black shirt and white Dhoti. The Photos went viral in social media platforms and now everybody is sharing and celebrating that pictures. Perhaps this also shows how much the film has influenced the younger generation of Kerala. It is one of the Mollywood films which got great acceptance not just in the box office but also among the people.

In colleges and schools boys came to celebrate their Onam programmes wearing black shirt and white dhoti. In some places, even girls came in that style which became a news as well. Some colleges banned black shirt and white dhotis as well. Many textile shops has just started a section for Premam dresses alone and still black shirt and white Dhoti becomes out of stock very soon due to the huge demand.

Malayalees has always accepted different movie styles. The star who made maximum trend in Kerala with his different film style is none other than the Universal Star Mohanlal himself. He had made the look of his film Spadikam trending in the beginning of 1990’s in Kerala. The Rayban Glass, Red shirt and also the shirt and boxer combination he shown in that film had become a great trend among Malayali youngsters. Then he again became the master of Kerala trend with his Thamburan looks with traditional Kerala Dhoti in film like Aaram Thamburaan.

Loham crossed 8 crore + in 8 days and going great

Mohanlal-Ranjith team’s classy thriller Loham even though received mixed word of mouth from the public it is going great as far as the financial scheme of things is concerned. The box office collection is great for the film and it already entered the safe zone and becomes profitable with its super collection at the box office. We have already reported the day to day collection report of the film and the records made by it on each day. For those of you who have not followed the earlier news we are once again listing those records.

Loham became the Mollywood film with the biggest gross on the opening day in Mollywood with a collection of 2.14 crore breaking the record of Mohanlal- Roshan Andrews film Casanovva which held the record for almost 4 years. It also broke the record of Bangalore Days 7 day collection from Ernakulam multiplexes by amassing 53 lakhs where Bangalore Days has only 49 lakhs. The Premam weekend record of 4.85 crore also became a history as Loham made 6 crore in its weekend with the help of an extra day run at Box Office due to its Thursday release. Another record Loham received was that it became the fastest to reach 50 lakhs from Ernakulam alone by collecting close to 60 lakhs from Ernakulam city premises in just 4 days.

Now the 8 day collection report of the film has arrived and as per reports the film has earned more than 8 crore in its 8 day of theater runs and is still going great at almost all the theatres. The Multiplexes are getting houseful shows and single screens is also showing great occupancy even after the release of four more films in last two days. Other films released in the last two days is getting very bad reviews from all over, from critics and audience alike. That is also helping Loham to be at the top and undoubtedly we can say that Loham will become the Onam winner of this year smoothly.

The marketing strategy of Aashirvad Cinemas and the name Mohanlal made this great success possible for the film even after failing to meet the expectations at least of some people who expected something very big.
