Universal Star Mohanlal is going through a busy schedule as always. We can say without any doubt that he is the most in demand star in Mollywood and that is why filmmakers and producers are lined up to get his consent for their films. There is a proverb which says that well begun is half done. But in Mollywood the proverb has a slight change and it is like “Get Mohanlal in the film and half of the battle is won”. The actor has a huge fan base not only here in Kerala but all over South India.

Recently Mohanlal has acted in a Tamil and Kannada film and both became super hits there. Even though he acted along with the stars of their industry in those films all of the appreciation was for him for his superior acting skills for which he is praised all over India and abroad. People from other states have a tremendous amount of respect for him and many times they have shown it as well. Telugu super stars like Venkatesh, Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan Teja etc have said that they are the great admirers of Mohanlal and that he is their favorite actor too. They say that if there is an actor in India who cannot be imitated while remaking his films to other language then it is Mohanlal.

Now the news is coming in that after 21 years Mohanlal may come back to Telugu film industry and do a very important character in a film named Nuvve Na Pranamani in which he is said to be playing a powerful police officer role. The film is said to be a romantic drama set in rural areas and has importance for action and thrill as well. Suraj and Kavitha Radheshyam are also playing the lead roles along with Mohanlal in the movie.

The flick will be conceived by a debutant Suresh Vamshi and popular comedians like Ali and Jayaprakash Narayan will also play key roles in the film as well. Actress Kavitha is quite thrilled to share screen space with the Complete actor and legend Mohanlal and she says it will be really an honor to act along with him and that she is eagerly waiting for the moment. Mohanlal’s last Telugu film was Gandeevam which was a successful affair released in 1994.

Will Utopiayile Rajavu pull Loham back from its dream run at the box office ?

The Onam race in Mollywood will get hotter and hotter with the releases coming on this Thursday and Friday. On Thursday 3 films will hit the screens and they are Double Barrel which has a multi star cast and directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, Utopiayile Rajavu which is a satirical comedy directed by veteran filmmaker Kamal and Thomas Sebastian directorial film Jamna Pyaari which has Kunchacko Boban in the lead. On Friday debutant director Basil Joseph film Kunji Ramayanam will also join the party which has Vineeth Sreenivasan in the lead. But the fight Mollywood film lovers are eagerly waiting to see is between Mohanlal and Mammootty, the Universal Star and Mega Star in our industry.

Mohanlal had come one week early with his film Loham helmed by Ranjith and now the film is having a dream run at the box office. The money register is ringing for the film and it had already broke many existing collection records as well. The mixed opinion it created had not at all affected its box office run at all. Mammootty film Utopiayile Rajavu is said to be a satirical comedy and is getting very positive vibes from the industry even before the release. Mammootty fans and many other people is very much optimistic about the success of the film.

The interesting fact is that both Loham and Utopiayile Rajavu is made like an experimental film as far as the narration is concerned. Loham’s experimental nature is the one which attracts the audience as well as generating mixed reviews. Utopiayile Rajavu is also said to be experimenting with a unique way of storytelling. It has fantasy elements mixed with satirical comedy and hopes that people will accept it with both hands.

Last year also both Mohanlal and Mammootty came with almost the same type of films as both Peruchazhi and Rajadhi Raja are films made for their fans to celebrate. Even though Prithviraj starrer Sapthamashree Thaskaraha won the Onam race last year, both Peruchazhi and Rajadhi Raja finished well giving profit to the producers. This year also Prithviraj starrer Double Barrel is there in the Onam race. But people always love to see Mohanlal and Mammootty go head to head in the box office. They want both of them to win the race because they are the most loved Big M’s of our Mollywood.

Loham rocking at Kerala box office by amassing 7.5 cr in just 6 days

0

Mohanlal starrer Loham really rocking the Kerala Box office by getting great collection even on week days. In the first four days of its run it had gone past the 1 crore mark and it equaled the record created by Premam. It also earned more than 2 cr from its first day and it was a record in Mollywood and Mohanlal had toppled the record of his own film as his Casanovva was the previous only Mollywood film which grossed above 2 crore on a single day in Kerala.

From the first four days the film had earned more than 6 crore rupees and it had broken the weekend day collection record set by Premam which was 4.85 cr. Even though Loham got an extra day in the weekend the record technically remains. From Monday the film showed drop in collection and that is very natural as we can’t expect 1 cr or above from a working day. On holiday it is possible but on a working day the family audience will come only to watch the evening shows and quite naturally the noon and matinee shows will show great drop. As per the latest assessments by trade guides the flick had amassed more than 7.50 crores from 6 days of its theatrical run in Kerala and getting an average of 70 lakhs rupees on a working day and that was quite amazing as well.

In many theaters the flick had getting continuous houseful shows even on working days and in Thrissur Ramdas all second shows till date for Loham got houseful status. Even 1200 seater -theater like Ernakulam kavitha gets more than 90% occupancy for first show and second show. In multiplexes too the flick has been doing terrific business without any reduction of shows at most parts.

The above average word mouth had now turning towards positive word of mouth as well when family audience had accepted the film with both hands. The reservation status is still pretty good for the film. It will lose some screens as 3 more releases coming today but to show film on multiple screens for almost a week is a very big think for any film which has got only an above average word of mouth.
