Lighting of the traditional lamp on stage or something like that is not at all a religious ritual says Mega star Mammootty. To light a lamp on stage while inaugurating a function or something like that cannot be considered as a ritual of any religion. Mammootty said that consider like as not at all a good thing. ‘Nila Vilakku’ is a traditional lamp of Kerala and while we lighting a ‘Nila vilakku’ on stage as a part of any inauguration or an important function it is something like we are keeping our tradition and culture close to our heart.

Mammootty had said this to the education minister of Kerala, Sri. Abdu Rabb who refused to light the lamp on stage while inaugurating a function which is conducted in memory of P.N Panicker. As a part of inauguration Mammootty had lighten the lamp (Nila vilakku) and when he passed over the lighter to the minister he refused to light the lamp with it as he believes it is a religious ritual of the Hindus and a muslim like him don’t have to do that as it was not a part of his religious views. Then Mammootty openly said it on the stage that it was not at all a right behavior from the Minister. It was also paved the way for a lot of discussion there on the stage.

Mammootty was angry and he tried to make things clear to the Minister. Mammootty said that he is also a man who follows musilm religion and rituals. He observes every Ritual a Muslim should observe and takes fast in every Ramzan month as well. But he lights lamp in many inaugural functions and don’t think that there is any wrong in that act. Mega star Mammootty said that Indian union Muslim league has to stop think like this way and they have to be forward in their thoughts and deeds. These all were wrong beliefs and these should be corrected.

P.J Kurian who preset there also came to the support of Mammootty by saying that lighting a Nila Vilakku and practices like yoga is not at all related to any religious group and it is a part of our great Indian culture. He said he had said it in parliament too once.

As per the current reports from Mollywood and sources close to actor Mammootty it is been almost confirmed that Mega star Mammootty will soon join active politics. Mammootty was staying away from even accessing a top position at AMMA but now he has taken the mantle of AMMA’s general secretary position from none other than Mohanlal this year. According to the sources this is his first step to enter in to active politics soon.

Everybody knows that Mammootty is a supporter of the left parties in Kerala and he is the chairman of the Channel Kairali owned by the Ccommunist party of Kerala. And many times before as well he had declared his political views publicily and he also came to the election campaign of Innocent at Chalakudy parliament seat where he competed as an Independent candidate with the support of the Left Democratic Front of Kerala.

The sources also made clear that Mammootty may actively join the election campaign of the LDF candidates in the coming election to Legislative assembly. Few days back Mammootty came to see LDF candidate Vijaya Kumar who is competing in the Aruvikkara By-election and wish him all the very best for success and he expressed it quite openly as well. As you all know Innocent, Mukesh and Suresh Gopi is already in active politics. Innocent is the Member of parliament as well from Kerala and Suresh Gopi is an active supporter of Narendra Modi and Bharateeya Janatha Party. Suresh is also appointed as the chairman of the National film development corporation which is equal to the position of a cabinet rank as well.

Super star Mohanlal who has the biggest influence on the people of Kerala does not expressed his political inclination publicly till now. He had great relations with members of all the political parties such as A K Antony, Pinarayi Vijayan, V S Achuthanandan, K B Ganesh Kumar, Late G karthikeyan etc. But he acted in films more as a supporter of communist party which may be an indication of his inclination towards LDF but it just an assumption and that’s it.

If Mammootty has joined active politics there is also a rumour that the support of all film stars will be for him and indirectly to communist party of Kerala. There has been news earlier that he has offered a seat by LDF in the last election but he said them to wait a little more and now he may be thinking that the time is arrived to be active in politics. Last five years has been not at all good for him as a star in mollywood and that may also a factor of him thinking to join politics by quitting from films.
