Director Fazil is one of the best directors Mollywood had ever seen and his film were that much popular that each and every malayali will remember his one film or the other forever. His popular films are Manjil Virinja Pookkal, Ente Mamaattikutti Ammakku, Nokketha Doorathu Kannum Nattu, Manichithra Thazhu, Pappayude Swantrham Appoos, Harikrishnans etc and many of these films has cult classics in Mollywood history.
Fazil is the one who introduced Mohanlal through is debut film as a director named Manjil Virinja Pookkal as Mohanlal played the villain role in that film. Later Mohanlal had gone on to become the biggest actor and star Mollywood had ever seen in its history and also the finest actor our country had ever witnessed. His films with Mohanlal like Nokketha doorath Kannum nattu and Manichithra Thazhu were still evergreen in the hearts of spectators. Especially Manichithra Thazhu which crossed the boundaries of language and remade in many indian languages. Actress Shobhana got national award for best actress through that flick.
Fazil had recently silent after some set setbacks such as Moss N Cat and Living Together etc and said to have planning a film with both Mohanlal and Mammootty in the lead and rumors suggests that it will have his son Fahadh Faasil as well and may be it will be the sequel of his last hit named Harikrishnans which told the story of an investigation with Mohanlal and Mammootty played the roles of advocates with the same name Harikrishnan.
Fazil last day in an interview said that now-a-days the new generation has a wrong notion among them that senior actors and directors are a liability to the industry or they don’t have much value now in our industry. But Fazil says that it is a wrong notion. He go specific with Mammootty in this matter. As he said that Mammootty is still a super star of mollywood and Fazil attracted the attention of everyone who believes that Mammootty’s star value has gone to the success of his latest film named Bhaskar The Rascal.
Fazil told that many of them disrespect senior artists and film makers through insulting comments but they don’t realize the fact that Mohanlal and Mammootty are the ones who still ruling the industry with talent and star value other can only dream of and senior film makers still have the ability to do better films than the so called new generation ones.
Mega star Mammootty was in a state of dilemma for the last four years and if we have to say exactly his last genuine success was 2010 film Best Actor directed by Martin Prakkatt. His only blockbuster in last 5 years also came in that year with Pokkiri Raja which was a multi starrer with Prithviraj as well. Even though Pranjiyettan And The Saint conceived by Ranjith was a critical success and become a classic, it was a commercial failure as the director and producer of the film Ranjith himself openly admitted in the visual Medias.
In 2010 as well he had more flops than hits as only Pokkiri Raja and Best actor were the successes and a number of flops are there with Drona, yuga purushan, pramani, Kuttisrank etc. From 2010 Mammootty was going through one of the worst or lean patches of his whole career as whatever he does ended up failure. He had begun 2011 with a film named August 15 which was a sequel of his super hit film August 1. But it failed at the box office and there starts that string of failures hat continued till 2014 last part. Between this some films of him had got average successes like Emmanuel but in last four years there was not a genuine hit for him that made things worst for him.
But Mammootty is always a man of great comebacks he started his comeback trail in last year. The first one which started it was Munnariyippu which was critically acclaimed film even though failed at box office. But that was a needed boost for him as his films were treated as craps by the mollywood film lovers during that time. Later he got two 3 successes back to back such as Rajadhiraja which was released in last year’s onam, Varsham which hit the screens in November and Fireman which was released in this year February. These 3 film has got only moderate success but slowly but steadily Mammootty was coming on track with these films.
At last a super hit had come for him after waiting for almost 5 years and above 25 films were came and went without making any impact at box office during this time. The much awaited Super Hit was this year’s Vishu release Bhaskar The Rascal and the flick is going great guns at the box office with super hit status and now on the way to complete 5o golden days at Kerala box office. The film is very well received specially by children and family audience and that made this a vacation super hit.
Masss directed by the master film maker Venkat Prabhu and starring Suriya was one of the most eagerly waiting flick of this all over South India and the film is all set to be in front of the people on the 29th of May this year and next week is going to be a Mass Weekend for Suriya fans. The mass team said that the title of the flick had been changed to a new name and it will be Masss Engira Maasilamani and the change was made because of the rules in Tamil film industry which says that films only gets tax redemption if only its title is in Tamil language. If the title is in any other language the film bound to be loaded with entertainment tax and have to pay it to the government.
Salman was in the news in the recent times for not at all the positive things as he is been sentenced to spend 5 years in jail by the court who had took up the case of killing some people with his car who were sleeping at the footpath. He was said to be Alcoholic while driving his car on that day and the case against him was going on for a long time. Mollywood super success film How Old Are You is remade into Tamil titled as 36 Vayadhinile and it has released one week back. The reports from the theatres suggest that the film is doing terrific business with great mouth publicity from the very first day itself. The Mollywood version and its success helped actress Manju Warrier to back with a bang to her acting career after long years of gap and in the same way the Tamil version also helped actress Jyothika to come back strongly to her acting proffession.
The Malayalam version of the flick had been produced by Listin Stephen under his banner named Magic frames and the Tamil version is financed by Jyothika’s husband actor Suriya under the production house of his named Studio green. Both the Malayalam and Tamil version is scripted by the duo of Bobby and Sanjay and it was conceived by Roshen Andrews.
The theatres are filled with family audience and Kollywood had never seen such a rush from the part of ladies in the recent times. 36 Vayadhinile had been moved to bigger screens in multiplexes owes to the increasing rush of the audience and Mayajal multiplex manager Meenakshi Sundaram said to the media that she had never seen such a rush from the part of family audience in multiplexes which usually fills with youngsters.Till next the did not have no competition at all as Suriya’s Mass coming to hit the screens on next week and May 29 to be precise.
People of Tamilnadu seems to have waiting for Jyothika’s comeback as she is been getting unbelievable appreciation from all around and the flick is faring in box office like a king. Roshan Andrews also made a great start in Kollywood with this success and reports also came in earlier that he might do a film with Suriya as the lead in the coming future as Suriya is quite impressed with the skills and working pattern of Roshen Andrews.

Director Roopesh Paul is always in the news with many controversies and it deals with on and off the film field. And the director without much surprise landed in another controversy as well. Roopesh Paul was at the cann festival as usual and this time his two films are showing there. The news came that at cannes when Roopesh came one of his fans a foreign actress came to him and said him that she is die hard fan of his films and she wants to act in his films as well.
The news came in an online websites says that she requested Roopesh to take a picture with her and while posing for the photo with him the actress had removed the top part of her dress and become half naked for the photo. People saw this and Roopesh had said her to put back her dress on but she did not heard that and at last security personals have to come there and take that lady away. The news said that she had done it as a part of her great craze for Roopesh. Roopesh Paul had shared that news in his Facebook profile as well.
But the twist in the tale had come when the so called actress who is the topic of the news came out through her Facebook account said that she is not an actress and not at all a fan of Roopesh Paul. Her name is Aurore Nouailhas and she said in her Facebook post to all Indian and other people about what had happened there. Aurore has said that she is not at all a fan of Roopesh Paul and she don’t even know who he is before he said that she was a fan of him and he had post a photo with her half naked at cannes festival.
Aurore said that she was just making a performance as a feminist about the right of being topless and seeling the right of an Arthur Vernon film. She says that Roopesh had just said that they can take a photo together like many other people who were only interested in seeing her upper part and she took a photo with him like that. The lady said that she was not all an actress and not famous at all. She is a student of art and of 19 years of age. This twist in the tale had really seemed to be an embarrassment for the director Roopesh Paul as he shared the picture with her in his profile with a news that is not at all true.
Kumbasaram was not a much awaited one as it did not created any hype before its release. But the trailer of the film gave us a promise of something very different and hope for a class film. We were quite sure that it will not be a disappointing affair because of the director who is Aneesh Anwar who gave us a class film like Zakkariyayude Garbhinikal which had won many recognitions. And the presence of Jayasurya as the male lead assures a good performance also from the lead actor.
The film got released in the screens all over Kerala today without much noise and we have to say it will sure to do something very good in box office and among the spectators. This is a classy emotional family thriller type film which is by far one of the best films graced the screens of Mollywood this year. The flick was financed by Niyas Ismail under his banner named Frames Inevitable and he can be proud of himself for producing such a good film.
The plot of the flick stays around Alby played by Jayasurya who is an auto rickshaw driver and he was leading a very happy life with his wife Meera played Honey Rose and son Jerry played by master Aakash. The movie starts with a confession of Alby which is very crucial and forms the crux of the plot of the flick. Alby and Meera had great hopes in their son and dreams about his future. But fate was against them as their child become terribly ill and that turns their life upside down.
After Iyyobinte Pusthakam Jayasurya had given a sterling performance and he is clearly on the way to become a great actor in mollywood and the performance of him in the emotional scenes were just exceptional to say the very least. Honey rose was brilliant as meera as well and this may be probably the best role she ever did in her career. Master Aakash as jerry also done a very good job with his matured show of skills and other artists such as Priyanka, Vineeth, Shanavas, Tini Tom, and another child artist named master Gaurav Menon also done his part to perfection.
The screenplay by Aneesh Anwar is just superb and he really well combined the emotional and thriller elements to perfection and never lose control over the narration of the story. The only negative we can found is that the pace is not that much after the interval which may feel for some people as annoying. But it never let down the spectators as the film has a tight script. The DOP by Alby was just perfect and he created the ambiance perfectly with his amazing frames. And the songs by Vishnu the son of Mohan Sithara was quite good and his bgm was exceptional.
And on the whole Kumbasaram is great experience for the audience and a really classy film with the elements of suspense permeated the whole story with a very good climax.
